This was such a fun and fascinating concept for a romance. A quick read but one that is very well done.

For the most part, this story was short but sweet. I loved the setting, I loved the grandma and her friends. However, I did feel like it was underdeveloped. Sure, it's a short story, but I just don't feel like I actually got to know the main character and that always makes it harder to become emotionally invested.

I enjoyed this but it was missing so many of the things I enjoy about reading - probably due to its length than anything else.

The concept is good and I'd definitely like to know more about the characters should the author decide to turn this into a novel. I'm also intrigued by their writing and will be looking into reading some of their full-length work.

I received an e-ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This short story is about Frankie whose life has fallen apart and she goes to her Grandmothers as she has nowhere else to go. It’s a short but sweet story about keeping going when things are going wrong. It’s well written and I would definitely look at other things from the author

The story and premise are promising, as is Lilah Suzanne's writing, however there is simply not enough to review. If created to a full length book or even a novella it would be wonderful! Some great characters are created and I would have loved to see where the story could have gone if it had a little more meat to it.

Even though the blurb said "short story" I was still expecting more of a novella. There is very little to review. Frankie arrives at her grandmothers retirement villa in Orlando. She has lost everything in Chicago except for what she has in a couple of bags. At the villa she is welcomed by her grandmothers friends and her aide Claire. I've read another novel by the author and she writes well. As she describes the retirement community I can easily see it in my mind. But there isn't enough story to satisfy. Characters have potential and if this was a preview for a book I would look forward to reading it. I felt I got snippets of a story with big pieces missing. 2.5 stars rounding up. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Good (very) short story, it left me wondering where the rest of the story had gone off to.
I was reading this feeling like I was missing some information, almost as if I skipped over pages. I enjoyed it for the very short time it took me to read this, but it didn’t find it a satisfying short, there is too much missing for me, too much left unresolved.
I understand it’s a short and you can only put so much in it as an author, but I felt like this was a summary of the first couple chapters of a full book, instead of a stand-alone short.
It’s ok, there seemingly are layers to the characters and it’s cute enough, but just missing the mark for a short for me.

2.5 stars
