A Tale of Two Cookies is the third book in the Cookie House Mystery series. I do enjoy cozy mysteries that involve bakeries. I enjoyed reading about the different types of cookies and baked goods being made and the ingredients used in the recipes.
Now this one is a bit different in the sense that the mystery has no body, just a disappearance.
Coral Cay, Florida is the beautiful setting the wedding will take place in. Sure, it was a quick romance but with the sun, sand and the scents of fresh baked goods in the air a wedding just felt right. Sticking with the old tradition of the bride not seeing the groom until the morning of the wedding when he doesn't show up everyone is wondering, did he get cold feet? Could the movie crew that shows up in this tropical location just as the man disappears have something to do with his disappearance? The location of Coral Cay, Florida sounds like it would be a relaxing place to visit. Is the prospective groom dead or just missing? The story had a great plot that wasn't the same as many others I've read. The small town feel of the book kept it charming and the characters were all so helpful.
This is an author I'll be reading more of.

The baking theme has been done before, but Calder did a great job making sure the characters and Kate's circumstances set her story apart from the others. I liked the first book a lot, and the second story in the series did not disappoint at all. I had high hopes for the third book and was not let down at all. Kate and her friends are fantastic and this was such a fun read. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

A Tale of Two Cookies is the third installment of the Cookie House Mysteries by Eve Calder. The protagonist, Kate McGuire is part owner of a bakery on the Florida island of Coral Cay. One of her old friends, Desiree, asks for Kate’s help with her spur-of-the-moment beach wedding to her new soul mate. Kate is excited for the wedding, but when the groom doesn’t show up, she feels she must investigate because Desiree is convinced there is foul play involved, even though most don’t. At the same time, a reality show is being filmed on the island and there is plenty of film crew running around. Is it possible the two could be connected?

This novel is fun, fast-moving and light. The main characters are well-developed and likeable. The supporting characters are also believable. Calder tells the story in a way that is easy-to-read and understand. The food references make readers want to eat while reading. It will inspire the readers to want to visit the island to sample the bakery goods, as well as the other foods mentioned.

While this is a typical cozy with no graphic sex, language, and violence, it doesn’t quite fit the genre of culinary mystery because there are no recipes at the end. Most good culinary mysteries include recipes at the end, and while it doesn’t make the novel any less fun, it is a flaw. All told, this is a good novel and a good series for those who enjoy cozies.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This cozy mystery series has fast become a favorite of mine and we are only three books in. In fact, this book is actually my favorite of the series so far. I really appreciated the fact that the set up in this book was a bit different with the fact that we weren't sure what had happened to the groom. Was he missing of his own accord? Was he dead? Or had something else happened to him? It added a level of suspense to this book that you don't always get with other cozy mysteries. I found myself unable to put this book down because of it. It's hard to talk about books in series without sharing spoilers so I don't want to say too much. I will say that this series stands out for me because of the characters. This series truly embodies all of the cozy vibes. The delicious desserts, the wide cast of characters, and the cozy town of Coral Cay all combine to give me all of the cozy vibes in this series. It's just perfection!

Overall, the setup of this book really helped it to standout for me! Give this series a try (I do think it would be helpful to read in order if possible) if you enjoy cozy mysteries, are looking for a cozier read with a mystery tied in, or just want slightly suspenseful reads without all of the darkness and violence. This series is one of my favorites for a reason!

Bottom Line: My favorite book of the series so far!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this book thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. Honest thoughts are my own.

A Tale of Two Cookies by Eve Calder is the third book in the Cookie House Mystery series. Kate is enjoying her new life at the Cookie House in Coral Cay, Florida. When an old friend arrives in town with news of her impromptu wedding, Kate is thrilled to help. When the groom vanishes, everyone begins to question if the bride was only having a wedding in her own mind as no one heard the groom say he was going to be a groom. Kate also wonders what his connection was to the reality tv show being filmed on the island. I love the setting of this series. The plot twists in this particular book kept me guessing until the end.

Love the setting—bakeries are such a naturally cozy location already. It makes for an easy place to set a cozy mystery.

A Tale Of Two Cookies by Eve Caldor

It is nothing but sugar and spice at The Cookie House, but everything elsewhere on Coral Cay isn’t so nice.

This story was a little different. It was about a kidnapping with a lot of characters lying instead of helping to find the groom. Other than dragging a little, it was a interesting novel.

Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for my review.

I've never read one of the Cookie House Mystery books before, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. I don't feel as if I missed out on much with this book being the first one I've read in the series, and it made me want to go read the other two I had missed to see what other mysteries popped up. All in all, it was a fun, easy read and I would recommend.

Pastry Chef and new Coral Cay mystery solver, Kay McGuire is ready to celebrate the upcoming wedding of long-time friend when the groom disappears. Now comes the delightful play on words in the title, because the bride is being accused of running off the runaway groom, and someone is telling tales, but Kay and the locals could see just how much the happy couple loved each other. This is more than just a crumby case as Kay and company are doing their best to help Desiree find Judson, who has mysteriously disappeared. Plenty of red herrings as this story mixes it up between Judson’s finger pointing “kids”, a former Hollywood flame who mysteriously pops into town, and a crazy reality TV show that is creating more drama than any one TV show should. Great story with a nice flow and you don’t need to have read the series starter to be able to jump right into this next installment. The only thing that would make this story even better than a baseball sugar cookie would be the recipe for that baseball sugar cookie and a few of the other tantalizing treats sprinkled throughout this cozy mystery. I had a craving for oatmeal raisin cookies while reading and had to stop and make some before I could finish.

A fun series featuring lots of delicious cookies and a delightful group of small town characters all working together to solve crimes. The plot had a few surprises I didn't see coming and I liked how we got to still see some of the day-to-day running of the bakery. Nice, light reading for the summer!

My rating: 3 of 5 stars, I liked it.

Book 3 in the series.

I didn't realize when I requested this book that it was book 3. I prefer to start from the beginning, but I didn't have any problems getting in to this story.

The characters were fun, and some of the situations made me laugh out loud. I thought the mystery of the missing bride groom was interesting and didn't want to put it down until I finished. Lucky for me, it was a fast, easy, read.

I'm looking forward to more from this author.

In this third installment of the Cookie House mystery series, Kate and her bestie, Maxi, find themselves investigating a kidnapping. Or is it just a runaway groom. Yummy cookies, reality t.v. and loggerhead turtles make for a fantastic cozy mystery I would recommend to anyone.

It was a treat to return to Coral Cay and visit with Kate and her friends. When a wedding, cookies and a mystery are involved, it has to be great! I thought that this was a very interesting storyline when the grooms goes missing. Did he get cold feet or was he kidnapped as his bride believes.

I loved how so many of the town's people get involved to solve this mystery. This was an easy to read book that I didn't want to put down!

This is the third book in the series and I'm pleased to have read all of the books! This one is my favorite.

This particular book brings us a wedding, except the groom doesn't show up! The story really gets good after that. Kate McGuire, our main character, takes on the challenge to assist in the hunt and soon gets herself involved in interesting ways!

Each and every character is created perfectly! I loved the interaction between the characters and the storyline is amazing.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Kate is this fantastic cookie baker. One of Kate's old friends wants a beach wedding and she is happy to help. Then the groom goes missing. Now with the help of her friends she sets out to find out what happened to the missing groom. This series is fast becoming my favorite. I found this book when I was searching for an entertaining afternoon read. I definitely recommend this book.

#3 in the Cookie House mystery series. This is an excellent cozy mystery series where the mystery evolves from real people and situations rather than standard formulas. The cozy elements are there, but the characters are well-developed and engaging, the situations evolve realistically, and the sleuthing is logical and legal. In this story, Kate's good friend Desiree comes to Coral Kay for a beach wedding with famous marine biologist Judd Cooper. But the day of the wedding Judd disappears and only Desiree is sure he has been kidnapped while everyone else thinks it is a case of cold feet. At the same time, a reality tv show has taken up residence in town and is shaking things up. Is Judd really missing? Are these related? Kate believes her friend, the two seemed perfect together, so she and her friend Maxi and beloved town dog Oliver set off to discover what is really going on. Very enjoyable, lots of twists and turns and red herrings. As I said before, all the characters are extremely well-developed and distinctive, and the location as well. My copy was an ARC from NetGalley, there were no recipes, so I don't know if there will be in the final book. Kate is good at bringing cookie gifts wherever she goes, so it's no wonder everyone spills their guts. I would. Highly recommend.

This was a great mystery, I believe with each book the series is getting better. The characters are great and work well as a team. While reading this I was craving cookies just thinking about the shop within the story. Wish some of the places like what’s in the story would be real because i would visit the shop quite often. The characters were fun and interesting as well.
