I would deem this a success – the moral of the shy kid new at school, with every intent to hide from attention, run from plaudits and ignore the chance of showing off, works just as well as ever with baby dinosaurs called Zoe and Jake. And even Rodney. It has dual purposes, to convey the issue and to entertain, and it does both equally well. Easily four stars.

Norman has the first day jitters, but between his new classmates and teachers, he discovers something special about himself. A very relatable story for children in new situations. The illustrations in this book really add to this clever story.

I thought this book could have had a better title. Not sure what it would be, but it’s title seems blah. This book was cuter than I thought it would be. I think a lot of kids could relate to it with being shy or nervous. It was good to see a larger character have issues too, because people sometimes assume that bigger or older kids don’t have fears or nervousness or anxiety.

This is such a cute, beautiful book. Norman is a cute little dinosaur who has a giant heart. I love this story because it explains that being shy is okay. Normally, books paint shyness as something to come out of, but here being shy is okay, and having friends who are there for you just how you are is explored. I absolutely love the strength and love that Norman showed in this book, and this is the perfect and just a beautiful message to be sending to any child. Kindergarteners that are excited about their first day of school or even a little bit nervous can find comfort and happiness in this book. It is sure to make you smile from the colorful pages to the touching story, I loved all of the art, and I think any kid can have a fun time looking at the full pages of intense color. Norman's First Day at Dino Day Care is a beautiful book, and I highly recommend it to any parent looking to read with their child!

My daughter (5) and I read this book together as an early review. I love how the author has addressed something that is rarely addressed in a positive light- shyness. Norman the little dinosaur who is very good at hiding but is also very good at empathy. Beautiful artwork. We will be looking forward to more books from this author. This provided an opportunity to talk about something that is sometimes hard to talk about
