Love. Love. Love. This was just the conclusion I needed for them. Emme and Valentino are hot and light up the pages. Definitely a return to classic, wonderful Feehan.

I feel like this might be the final installment for the Ferreros, as we're kind of out of siblings, but OMG THE POSSIBILITIES for cousins and spinoffs! I'm nowhere near ready for this awesome series to be over.
The angst and heat that's been built between Val and Emme throughout the previous books did not disappoint! Whew! It was hot, steamy, sweet, and perfect.
I loved the dynamic between them; Emme is strong and loyal and capable in her own right as a Rider, but shaky on her strengths as an individual, as a woman. Val's devotion and confidence was the perfect match. I love these two. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and highly recommend.

The long awaited book for Emmie and Val. So many twists and turns to maneuver to get to their chance to be together and accepted.

No spoilers because this story is amazing. You need to read for yourself but I can tell you it has everything your looking for in a Christine Feehan book, action, raw emotion, romance, and family, the good and bad.

By far my favorite story in this series. I am excited to see the cousins get their happily ever after

Shadow Storm by Christine Feehan is another part of her series Shadow Riders. It is the story of Emmanuelle Ferraro, the youngest of the Ferraro family. Their family has an interesting legacy of meting out justice in the shadows and Emme is part of that legacy. She fell in love with the son of their enemy, but is he really an enemy? When push comes to shove, Emme and her family come to …well, don’t want to give everything away! To find out how this turn out, you need to read this book!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Great continuation of the SHADOW series! I really liked that there wasn’t a gratuitous sex scene in every chapter of this book although Christine has some good ones in her books!

4.5/5.0
For all of you fans of the original Christine Feehan, edge of your seat action, deep emotional storylines and steamy, hot romance... she’s BAAACCKKK!!!! This book truly is reminiscent of all that makes Ms. Feehan amazing. And it couldn’t have happened in a better book than Emmanuelle’s. She has been a fixture as the single sister in the powerful shadow rider family and readers have watched her yearn for but be denied love on the sidelines of each previous book. So, to have her story told in such a rich and riveting way is an absolute joy to read.

Because the story is also about Valentino, the heir to a large crime network, this installment also has a more decided mafia bent and feel. But as the shadow rider’s secrets are threatened and Valentino’s entire syndicate crumbles, the love that grows between the two main characters is strong, with a depth that one rarely sees in this type of book nowadays. Totally Feehan style, absolutely Feehan magic!

Emmanuelle knows that she never be with Valentino. She has accepted the idea of an arranged marriage. That is until Valentino is shot. Can she continue to ignore their connection even as she rushes to save him?
Shadow Storm is the latest installment in Christine Feehan's Shadow Riders series. I love that it is finally Emmanuelle's turn to shine. I wasn't sure if I her and Val to have a shot but I must admit I loved the unexpected spin Ms. Feehan gave us. Their relationship was never going to be smooth but Ms. Feehan made it believable. I loved the passion and determination Val showed. I loved that he showed Emmanuelle that she was his weakness and his strength. Emmanuelle would know that she was loved and adored...getting her to believe it is Val's challenge. Seeing Emmanuelle grow into her skin was wonderful to see. She found her fire even as she fought her fears.
This is a wonderful addition to this series. I loved Emmanuelle and Val's journey. I loved the family that supported them. I loved the connection they fought against and for. This is a well written story with unexpected twists. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey and can't wait to see where Ms. Feehan will take us next.

Emme's book is finally here. The much hinted star-crossed lovers theme between Emme and Val in the past few books in this series breaks my heart. Emme is the only daughter and the youngest in the Chicago Ferraro family. She knows she needs to stay away from the Saldi family which has a brutal and terrible history with the Ferraro family. It does help that Val broke her heart two years ago which prompts her to excised him out of her life. When Val's trusted second, Dario, sends a 911 text to Emme, she cannot help but rush to the side of her forbidden lover she's ignored for a couple of years.

As plot devices go - why Emme left Val, it's pretty standard and much used. I am a little surprised that Emme fell for it because her special abilities should have let her see the "truth". Ms. Feehan does a credible job to show why and how Emme could become so cruelly convinced to leave Val's side. This is where the angst comes in. Throughout this series, the Emme's mother has been a sadistic uncaring parent with glimpses into her burdensome life. Emme's mother, in the last book it went a direction that made her more relatable and I pity her. She did the best she could as a parent and a shadow rider. It wasn't enough and she never let her children in. Some of the reasons why are understandable but it seems as if Emme's mother was destined for a life of disappointment, isolation, jealousy and bitterness. I find that sad when she is so rich and blessed in the treasures of her children. Emme is a specific thorn for her mother and the reveals throughout the book only makes me sadder. The end result for Emme's relationship with her mother took a turn I did not expect and is shocking especially based on the last book's direction.

Emme's relationship with Val is rocky throughout this story. Some of it is because she is a strong shadow rider and assassin. This is in direct conflict with Val's expectations of a lover and wife. Whilst he admires her abilities, he still wants to keep her in a cocoon. Val's past and a lore through his family line may explain the onset of why the Saldi and the Ferraros have feuded for generations. This missing piece to the Saldi men suddenly makes so much sense as to why they want the Ferraros so badly. It also makes me wonder if perhaps this is a start to a new book arc with the Saldi family secrets. I kind of hope so, because it is an open ended thread left hanging.

I really enjoyed this book because I loved the characters. For some reason, Emme's character touched me. Her hopes, dreams and always trying to be the best to make her mother happy yet never getting the affirmation just devastates me. Val is a character I can admire and pity. His situation is not easy and what he has to do to stay alive is soul killing. As with several of Ms. Feehan's books of late, the setting is especially somber and the themes are dark. There are elements of violence and torture which are fade to black in most scenes. The fighting is elegant, efficient and rapid fire that I'm impressed.

This book is a page turner for me and I devoured it in one sitting. Who needs to be fully awake for a day job? I recommend this book to paranormal romance readers who enjoy angsty second chance themes between star-crossed lovers.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! I have been waiting a long time for Em's and Val's story and I have to say that it was worth the wait! Christine Feehan is one of my favorite author's and she has outdone herself with Shadow Storm. Emmanuelle and Valentino are amazing characters, they are both very strong and will fight for the ones they love with everything that they've got. They have both suffered much, neither has had an easy life and many roadblocks and misunderstandings are keeping them apart, but Val is determined to show Em that they are meant to be together if she is willing to stand by his side, even if it means fighting against their own families. Hope to see more books from the Shadow Series!

Shadow Storm by Christine Feehan, book 6 in the Shadow Rider series, focuses on Emme and Valentino's
relationship and a human trafficking ring. The Ferraro family puts aside their differences with the
Saldi family and Valentino's attraction to Emme to help track and shut down the group that is kidnapping
and selling children & young adults. Action packed romantic suspense, couldn't put it down, plenty of surprises!

Valentino Saldi and Emmanuelle Ferraro should be enemies. The two families have been at war for a hundred years. The Saldis came close to wiping out the entire Ferraro line. Luckily some of the Ferraros were able to escape through the shadows. It took a long time, but the Ferraros have come back stronger than ever. That doesn’t mean that they have forgotten their history. The two families now have an uneasy truce, something that changes when Emmanuelle gets a call that Val has been shot & is possibly dying. Emme does the only thing she can, what she has been doing her entire life; she calls her brother, Stefano.

Emme’s brothers are aware that Emme & Val have a history, they just don’t know the extent of it. Emme first met Val when she was just sixteen. He was much older & tried to stay away from her. Eventually he gave in & the two started an affair. The day Emme decide to give up her family for Val, she finds him in a compromising position with another woman. Always thinking & expecting the worst, Emme is not surprised though she is heartbroken. She loved Val and his betrayal cut her deeply.

Fast forward to the present. Val has given Emme space for two years, but he’s done. He doesn’t know if it’s because he almost lost his life, but he will not live another day without Emmanuelle Ferraro by his side. Though the situation seems insurmountable, Val eventually gets Emme to listen to what she’s known all along; Val didn’t cheat on her nor did he mean what she overheard him saying. All Val knew was that his uncle was up to something & he wasn’t going to have Emme caught in the middle.

Now Val and his uncle are at war over human trafficking. Val tried for years to convince his father that his uncle was bad news. His father wouldn’t believe it. After his uncle attempts to kill him & his father, his father finally starts believing. While Val lays dying, he knows the only thing he can do is call Emme. He also knows when Dario calls her that she would come. He also knows that it’s more than likely that she’ll call Stefano, which is exactly what he hopes for. He can’t fight Miceli on his own, he needs the Ferraros behind him. Although this seems really mercenary, he really does love Emme, which makes it forgivable.

I ate up this book. Emme was annoying at times, with her constant doubt in Val. It got old. Luckily Val called her on it & she’s able to reflect inward and see that she’s pushing Val away because she’s scared. She’s never listened to anyone but her brothers, but Val quickly rises to the most important person in her life. I’ve been waiting for this book for years and it didn’t disappoint. I do think that a few things were resolved too quickly, specifically how their shadows reacted to each other. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this series goes. It seems as though CF is going to branch off into the Ferraro extended family. I can’t wait to get answers on issues that weren’t addressed by the end of the book. Saying that, I enjoyed this book immensely.

Rating: 4.25 out of 5.

As a Shadow Rider, Emme Ferraro has been trained as an assassin since she was a child. That's what her family does - dispense justice to those aren't held accountable by the law. She has a duty to marry a suitable man and have children who will also be riders. Once she thought that man would be Valentino Saldi, but he broke her heart years ago. Emme avoided him but when Val almost dies she realizes that she isn't over him. If you enjoy the Shadow Rider series, you'll enjoy Emme and Val's second chance at love story.

Trigger Warnings: Human trafficking, sexual violence

Review: This is the 6th book of the Shadow Riders series and it does not disappoint. Emme’s story has much of the background given in previous books, since she’s struggling with a betrayal of her first (and only) love, Valentino. Valentino is part of the Saldi family, which the Ferrao family has been feuding with for a long time. After Valentino is gravely injured after an attack from members of his own family, Emme (and her entire family) come to his rescue. What they discover is a dangerous war brewing within the Saldi family after Valentino has spent two years tracking a human trafficking ring. The Ferrao family agrees to be allies with the Saldi family and Emme is forced to look more closely at her history with Val. She learns why it’s so difficult to stay away from him, and it is directly related to an old family Saldi myth that’s passed down only from father to son. Does she dare continue to rebel against her brother, and head of the family, Stefano in order to rekindle their steamy relationship?

Feehan always creates amazingly well-developed characters with heart-pounding excitement that continues throughout the entire book. Could it be that a mob boss is actually a good guy? Could Emme forgive Val for his betrayal and agree to a second chance for their relationship? Can the families work together to shut down an extensive human trafficking ring without the Saldi family learning the Ferrao family’s shadowy secrets? All these questions, and more, will be answered in this newest installment.

Note: I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is my own.

Whoa, this was darker than I had anticipated. I'll have to polish this ramble once I had a chance to process!
I've been apprehensive about Emme's story as I am not that big a fan of second chance stories. Having seen her struggle with her feelings for Val throughout the first five books in the series and knowing he hurt her I wasn't too keen, especially as she is a Rider and he is not, but I should have trusted Christine Feehan.
We are introduced to an old Saldi myth that may be more than just a myth and has far reaching impact on the Riders. Val also has to defend his territory against his uncle and try to shut down a horrific human trafficking ring he's been chasing for two years.
I don't want to go into too much detail and risk spoiling this incredible read. Let me just say that it starts with kick-ass action and doesn't really stop until the end. Watching Emme face her feelings and be brave enough to actually speak her worst fears to Val is wonderful. We finally discover what really happened and see from Val's point of view. It's interesting to see things from his perspective as I'd always thought of him being the bad guy as he actually is a mob boss, but the Shadow Hunters are assassins. They may work on catching evil that has slipped through the cracks or could not be nailed down, but they are killers. Having a mob boss who rules his territory with an iron fist, protects his people, including women who in his strip clubs, and stop other factions from using his territory for even worse depravities is also part of fighting evil, even if it means they have to work on the same fields as that evil. It's definitely a theme that Christine Feehan has used before.
This is a tense and dark story that had my heart pounding and me worried if they were going to make it. I was a little disappointed with the take down of the Big Bad as it seemed to happen so quickly and mostly off the page, but I guess fighting Val's uncle was the main story.
It's funny to see how similar Val and Stefano are and I loved learning more about Val's bodyguard Dario and Emme's friend Elie. I'm very much looking forward to their stories.

TW sexual violence, assault, human trafficking, graphic violence
