Have you ever wondered why all your Christmas lights go out when only one light is bad? Well then, this is a cute little book that will explain it to you and your kids. Ruth Spiro and Irene Chan's 'Baby Loves Electrical Engineering on Christmas' is a fun age-appropriate explanation of how lights work. As someone who has studied Electrical Engineering, I can vouch for the science explained in the book.

I viewed the book on a Kindle which is not the best way to read it Ms Chan's illustrations were bright and colorful and Ms Spiro's words were easily understood. I found it to be adorable and would recommend it highly to anyone who wants to give their little ones a head start in STEM.

Baby Loves Electrical Engineering on Christmas! is a cute STE(A)M book for the very youngest by Ruth Spiro. Due out 24th Aug 2021 from Charlesbridge, it's 20 pages and will be available in board book and electronic formats.

This is a sweetly illustrated picture book with simple verse showing some basic facts about electricity in accessible and easy-to-digest pictures. The art by Irene Chan is clear, colorful, and engaging and will fascinate babies and young children. The pictures are filled with small details that support and expand on the ideas in the text. There are even some all-ages learning opportunities which might be new to some adults and caregivers as well (such as a succinct and easy-to-understand illustration of what an electrical circuit is and how it works).

Baby's friends in the book are inclusive and representative. Although Baby's family celebrates Christmas, Baby's friends include small ones from several other beliefs.

It's never too early to start with STE(A)M books and this is a cute one. Although the titular Baby appears to be a toddler/preschool sort of age, this would make a nice choice for kids from babies through early elementary school. Lots of fun.

'Baby loves electrical engineering on christmas!' Is a fun book that seamlessly combines both topics. The science is very simple, but still teaches how engineering works. Christmas is also a fun setting for this book.

While I didn't enjoy this quite as much as Baby Loves Angular Momentum on Hannukah, it's still a great read, making learning about electricity fun for kiddos. The subject matter of Christmas was a bit all over the place- it was too much to cover in the amount of focus given, I think, but I did like concept of electrical engineering getting tied in to the lights on the Christmas tree. The art in this series is so sweet and adorable, and will surely make learning fun for little ones.

My babies loved this book. I have a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old. I very much enjoy reading books to my kiddos and I feel like this type of literature peaks my babies interest in learning not just about electrical engineering because they are still little but just learning in general about pretty much anything. I even showed it to my husband and he loved it as well. The artwork is beautiful as well and the colors kept my babies attention. I’m so glad I was able to learn a bit more about electricity and how it works. Definitely recommend! I can’t wait to get my hands on the other books.

Another fantastic Baby Loves book! My 3 year old adores this book and even my 5 and 7 year olds liked it. I'll absolutely be buying the board book when it releases!

This book will also make the perfect gift for many of our acquaintances. We have a large electric engineering company in our city and this book is going to be a perfect holiday present!

This is the first Baby Loves book that I have read and I am very impressed by it. I read it to my 4 year old son and he loved it. He asked many questions and we have gone onto research electricity even more. I think this book is the perfect stepping stone for young children to see if the subject excites them without going into too much complicated detail that you can find in other books.

Electrical Engineering explained simply to a baby. Maybe a toddler, curious as they can be, wants to know how the light come. And this book explained it, with much interesting illustration to show how electric works, somehow. Using Christmas as am example where Baby can see a lot of lights, the author explained where do these energies come from.

This book is awesome! Anytime I can combine science lessons into everyday tasks, I’m a happy person. This book does just that for little kids!
I love the illustrations. They are simple, easy to follow, and really add to the content of the book. I also love that this book included different kinds of electricity- geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, solar, etc. I wasn’t expecting the author to also include ways to stay safe for electricity, but I’m glad she did. It’s an important part of keeping kids safe! For those of you wondering, this book isn’t overly religious either. That crossed my mind because it’s about Christmas, but it focuses on electricity as it related to turning on a Christmas tree, which is such a fun thing for young kids!

I love the series of "baby loves" books, this one was no different. I learned a lot and the illustrations were bright and fun!

This is the best book for a classroom read aloud. I would recommend this for a classroom that is learning about electricity. It's also about Christmas, but goes very much into all of the elements pertaining to electricity. I would very much recommend this book.

This is a cute book with some more advanced topics. My brother in law is studying to become an Electrical Engineer so I plan to buy this book for his son! The kindle version from Netgalley was completely out of order and difficult to read but I can use context clues to assume what the order of the book is suppose to be. Made it hard to give specific feedback about the book though.

Baby Loves Electrical Engineering on Christmas! is a children's book that explains the science behind Christmas lights. This is a fun and educational book for curious children trying to figure out how things work. I loved the illustrations and found the topic of Christmas lights to be a great choice to spark interest. The engineering facts are pretty detailed and may be over the heads of younger readers, but it is a great book to grow with and keep on the bookshelves for awhile.

Love this series. Tying Christmas lights in with learning about electricity was a clever pairing. Probably could have pared the title down to Electricity instead of Electrical Engineering and smoothed the transition back to Christmas from the science. Otherwise, thought this was very well-written and had fun illustrations.

This Baby Loves book is really adorable and teaches kids about electricity!  All through showing them how Christmas lights work (once an adult plugs them in, of course!)  It's never too early to teach kids about engineering and get them interested in science and I thought this book was really well done in teaching about how things work and how to be safe with them as well.

Baby Loves Science is such a great series! I love that it incorporates science into a Christmas book, which makes it very unique. Safety, Christmas traditions, and the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas were also discussed. While the book has "baby" in the title, this book would work even for elementary school aged children - if they aren't turned off by the word "baby." The illustrations were modern, colorful, and feature a diverse main character. Science concepts such as atoms and different forms of electricity were explained using simple text and drawings.

I am a big fan of these series of board books. Such a great idea and children are never to young to start understanding what electricity is.
This book opens a discussion between reader and child, in this case, electrical engineering at Christmas. It considers the child by creating a story surrounding where electricity comes from and how it gets to Baby’s home where she can then put up her twinkling Christmas lights on the tree.
Bright bold and cheerful illustrations by Irene Chan help to keep the child happy and engaged and it is a joy to read out loud.

While this was an awesome storybook with bright pictures, I felt it tried to pack in too many ideas. Ideas on how electricity works, what is Christmas, how it's celebrated and how to stay safe from electricity. This may be too much for a toddler to retain. Other than that i enjoyed it!
