I was kind of disappointed with this one. I found the story slow to build and the main characters a bit uninspiring. This was not a deal breaker. I did read the book through the end and will definitely read the next, with an open mind and no preconceived notions.
Thank you Jade Lee, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

Unfortunately I didn't like this one as much as the first. I just couldn't get past the premise that I found really bizarre, and I ended up not finishing the book.

We have a lord struggling to make money to get free from his past.
A Bluestocking young lady with a love of botany.
Together they come up with a plan to make money - using daffodils.
Then there is the young ladies aunt who also happens to be the lord's ex-lover, who has a different idea altogether, and just might be a tad bit vindictive.
Put it all together and you have a very satisfying read! I really enjoyed reading Jade Lee's latest story.

I enjoyed this historical romance between Lord Satyr and Lady Gwen. I also had a cool opportunity to interview the author on Facebook and enjoyed hearing her talk about her book and her writing process.

What a Enjoyable story! Second in the series brings the characters from Lord Lucifer are back. Lord Satyr will hold you spellbound from the moment you begin the journey until the very end as a web of manipulation and greed is spun by a villainous despot who will try to stop Lord Satyr from escaping her web. Gwen a bluestocking who analyzes everything  owner with no title or money receives a surprise finds herself supporting Lord Satyr in his business venture. Lord Satyr can't believe Gwin will support him no matter what. Jade Lee has written a story that has sizzling passion, with a great cast of characters that come off the pages and pull you into this emotional ride that keeps you involved until the very end, it is smoothly written, dealing with unnerving situations, with a superb plott, and that is filled with tension-building twist and turns and setbacks that will keep you entralled from the beginning to the end in this outstanding story!

The Bluestocking and the Rake

They call him Lord Satyr, but does he deserve the name? Isabelle is out to destroy him, and she will stop at nothing to do it. An encounter with lady Gwen just might give him the edge to defeat her. Could a bit of charm, a bunch of daffodils, and a lot of love change Gwen and Jackson’s future? treachery is afoot, and reputations are on the line. If you like historical romance books with charming lords and strong-willed bluestockings, you might enjoy the story.

Review Lord Satyr by Jade Lee

Lady Gwen an intelligent blue stocking about to be officially ‘on the shelf’ and Lord Jackson Sayres who enters into a business partnership at Gwens, to make this work to save them both, he teaches her how to react socially in a way she understands and is comfortable with. She is normal very uncomfortable in social situations, as clever people often are because she is misunderstood and laughed at.

Loved the story though hadn’t read the first book in the series but it wasn’t necessary but will definitely be awaiting the next one .

The is a well written easy to follow story that has everything in it for an interesting storyline. Intelligent women, lovely characters humour , sadness , love, vindictiveness and the right amount of steaminess!

Well done Jade Lee!

Lord Sayres is in need of a new business adventure to strike out on his own. He meets a lady at a masquerade who changes his world. Lady Gwen known botanist maybe have come with an idea and be just the one to make help him gain his freedom. A captivating story as these two try to help each other and overcome society’s restrictions and fall in love along the way. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.

In Lord Satyr we meet Jackson, Lord Sayres, who is trying to forge his own path by starting his own business but is held back by rumors set by his former employer/lover, Isabella. Gwen is a 20-something recent spinster who loves botany and wants her own life of independence now that she is free of the expectations of the ton. They come up with a business idea involving flowers but they run into trouble with logistics and capital while finding that they might have found love when and where they least expect.

What I loved:

- I loved to see Lady Gwen be so unapologetically into botany and science in general. She was intelligent and she knew it. I want to see more women in STEM in historical.

- I liked the dynamic between Gwen and Jackson because he was just so understanding of her quirks and allowed her the room to grow comfortable around him and just be herself.

What I didn't love

- While we got a lot out of Gwen as a character, we did not see as much from Jackson. I would have loved to learn more about the tough times with Isabella. He was just kind of a nice guy with not a lot of personality or background story beyond that.

- The pacing was very off for me. We didn't really get into the meat of the story until around 70% of the book when they are at his family estate. I found myself bored of all the conversation in the beginning with the logistics of the flowers.

- While I was super interested in everything surrounding their business venture, I didn't feel like we got enough of it at the end. We spent the whole book building up to this grand reveal and scheme and it was over really fast and too conveniently. Gwen complains that she could not get her entire dowry from her brother and yet she magically has it at the end with no explanation of how or why he gave in.

Overall, I thought this book was okay. I really liked Gwen but the romance was just so-s0 as was the whole business venture bit. Good ideas but not presented in a way that was satisfying to me personally.

Jackson has finally met his perfect match in a beautiful, odd duck spinster named Gwen in Jade Lee's Lord Satyr. Jackson is one of the few aristocrats who has to earn a living. He works for Isabelle - investing in her businesses and finding new ventures for her - but he wants to break free of her influence and become more of his own man. When he meets Lady Gwen, she gives him a fabulous idea for a business that will actually work and gains her agreement to participate in his new venture.

Gwen is 28 and is firmly on the shelf. She should be happy, but she is starting to realize that maybe she wants to have children. And with children, comes a husband. Gwen is brilliant and has turned down more than one proposal because she doesn't understand how people can be so illogical. They bore her quickly. But Jackson is different. He is smart, he sees details and he doesn't laugh at her. He winks at her - which she didn't understand - but he also explains what's going on to her. His teasing is good natured and not mean.

Gwen and Jackson are perfect together as they try to launch the daffodils that grow in his village as the flower of the season. They really are cute. There are some sensual scenes in this story. Both Gwen and Jackson are such interesting characters. This book was really good.

An enchanting story that had me laughing out loud and tugging at my heart for Lady Gwen and Jackson, Lord Sayres, ie Satyr!

Jackson had managed to accumulate his own funds, as he investigated earning opportunities for one, Lady Isabelle. But she tried to manage his entire life and he was trying to disengage himself from her.
But she was having none of it!

Lady Gwen's mother had just deemed her "on the shelf", now that she had just turned eight and twenty and had resisted all of mother's matchmaking machinations through the years. But suddenly Gwen thought she might indeed want to marry and have children.

But being an intelligent, bluestocking often had it's drawbacks, until she met Lord Satyr and they came up with a scheme to make money! It looked though as there may be possibilities as there was a definite attraction. Could it be? Loved this story and cannot wait for more in this series!

Lord Jackson Sayers has been working for a beautiful influential lady for quite a while. Learning from her as she became wealthy and how to invest in different projects. He has decided that he should set out on his own, confident that he will be able to make himself wealthier than he is. The only problem is that she wants Jackson’s money to invest in her latest project. Not only the money but wants him on the site working along with the laborers. When ever he tries to explain what he wants, she puts her foot down and controls the conservation. Lady Gwen Rees has been declared a spinster on her 28th birthday by her mother. She is a bluestocking with a love of botany. Upon a chance meeting with Lord Jackson, they come up with a business idea that would save them both. I enjoyed this book, loved the characters, and cannot wait for the next release.

The second book in the Lords of the Masquerade series a well written story with a very good storyline the story flows smoothly across the pages. Lady Gwen and Lord Sayres or as he is called Lord Satyr's story and the Lincolnshire daffodil which is really pretty even in these days. I enjoyed seeing this story come together.

Lord Jackson Sayres wants to get away from Isabelle, Lady Meunier. He has learned a great deal from her, and done a great deal for her. He wants to make it on his own. Isabelle is displeased and shows it most ruinous ways. Lady Gwen Rees is more interested in botany and independence that balls and courting. Their meeting leads to a business idea that might give them both just what they want.

Jackson has a rough reputation and he has been a rake, but he is truly a caring, kind, and thoughtful man. Gwen is intelligent, thoughtful, and independent. Thanks to her harpy of a mother, she lacks the esteem to go with her wonderful those characteristics. Jackson sees and appreciates her as she is. Jackson and Gwen have an interesting and heartwarming story. There is some drama, a little suspense, a villain bent on revenge, and a wonderful steamy romance. An enjoyable read.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Lord Jackson Sayres finds himself looking for other business ventures, in an effort to escape his ties with those in power. At a masquerade ball that he holds, he meets Lady Gwen and they soon find themselves, engaged in a partnership, not only in business but in friendship. Lady Gwen is a bluestocking, with a love of botany which she manages to use in her desire to help Lord Sayres. Yet, she finds herself conflicted between the life that she has always wanted and the possibility of a different future.
I found this a delightful story between two quite unique characters. Jackson is a man struggling to do all that he can for his sisters and to escape his past. He is hardworking and determined but has a sense of dignity that sets him apart from many. Gwen struck me as a quite quirky but innocent in her dealings with others. Her assertiveness, intertwined with her honesty, makes for an interesting relationship with Jackson, which I found amusing to read.
An enjoyable, light-hearted read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was so different from what I expected (in a good way). Jackson is trying to establish himself independently from his patroness, but she's subverting his efforts. When he meets botanist Gwen, she inspires him and agrees to become his partner in a new venture.

The chemistry between these two is lovely. Gwen appears to be on the autism spectrum, struggling with social expectations. Jackson is patient and kind, fascinated by her approach to the world. Watching their love blossom is a joy.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I read a lot of Historical Romance and there are rare occasions where I know a book will stay with me a long time. This is absolutely one of those times! Goodness, Gwen was lucky enough to find a good man, someone who paid attention to her, noticed her quirks and was determined to understand her. Gwen is brilliant, but everyone sees her as an 'odd duck'. It was difficult to be different in London at this time, but she was able to push on with Jackson by her side. They are magnificent together! Lord Satyr is a wonderful book. It made me think about Lorraine Heath's When the Duke was Wicked, while I didn't cry for days after reading this book it hit me emotionally in the same way. Bravo Jade Lee on a brilliant book!

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC copy. All opinions are my own

Lord Sayres is perpetuated as a rake and has a huge Masquerade Ball each year. This year he goes as Lord Satyr and even greets his guests with a bleating goat sound. What people don’t realize is that he truly is a shrewd businessman and he is truly not that much of a ladies man.
Lady Gwen is a blue-stocking and her mother considers her a dried up spinster. Most people think she is an oddity, but they just have never taken the time to know her because she too is also a keen person with investment ideas.

The author has a predictable storyline that is lighthearted, but steamy scenes. I loved the different characters, but I think more direction should have been focused on the escalating issues between the three main protagonists to liven it up more and bring the sisters to London to cause some confusion and that would have been some spice. It was just a little slow as far as predictability.

He can't get out from under his ex.

Though Isabelle is more like his groomer and manipulator. She made Jackson her kept boy when he was very young,. She groomed him in the bedroom and in business and now he is firmly under her thumb.
Jackson tries to outmaneuver her, but Isabelle constantly one ups him to keep him and his finances tied to her.

Gwen is more into plants than balls. I had hoped for connection, zing, but I think it wasn't apparent because Jackson was so much under Isabelle's control. I wanted Jackson to be more crafty, I guess.
It was a bit like he jumped from one business with Isabelle into another with Gwen. Perhaps less business with your paramour? Though, Gwen and Jackson have a much healthier relationship than the dysfunctional one he had with Isabelle for such a long time (years).

Still, I always enjoy a Jade Lee book, so recommend.

Lord Sayres is tired of giving his ideas to others and letting them get rich. He along with Lady Gwen hatch an idea that could make them both wealthy. What will happen when they fall for each other along the way? Fast-paced historical read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.
