If you are looking for a great Summer read that will stretch your emotions and that you won't be able to put down, then this is for you!

I was hooked from the start. Save My Daughter is very character-driven and told from two points of view. Lily and Hannah. Lily is an extremely busy mum of 3 and loves her children to bits. Hannah, Lily's best friend since forever is not seeing the whole picture when it comes to family life and how Lily parents her children. This has severe consequences and causes mountains of pain, which could have been prevented if only they talked it out.

It's a book full of action with severe consequences. You get secrets, a child abduction, a suspected affair and friendship woes, as well as emotional heartbreak. It's a tangly mess that tore my heartstrings in places.

Highly recommended - 5 out of 5 stars

This book flips from both women’s points of view in both past and present. I lost interest at some points as I just wanted to know what had happened to the baby! I felt some of the past parts were irrelevant, but maybe that was just me being eager to find out what was going on. That being said I read this book in one day so it did keep my attention and I needed to know the outcome.

The author has done a brilliant job of putting us in the mind of a mother who is despairing over her missing child. I felt every bit of anxiety that was written on the page. I also understood Hannah and how she saw she had no other choice. I was sure I knew how this one would go but the author threw in some great twists that left me shocked.

This is a very emotional story in parts and although I did lose interest in places I’m glad I carried on. Four stars.

Oh, my word what just happened? Huge thanks to Bookouture for my ARC in exchange for an honest review. Firstly nothing is what it seems in this book because wooow (read that 5 times). This book is about two best friends that seemingly look different because one has children and the other doesn't till that fateful outing. That outing changed the whole dimension of their friendship *sob* This book is well written and explored hard-hitting topics that make you want to sob for a while and a little longer. I recommend this book because it's well crafted

What a great domestic thriller! It made me think of the boundaries of friendship and the cost of betrayal. Beautifully written!

I enjoyed this emotional mystery. This is a newer author for me and I look forward to reading more in the future. This is a well written story that is both emotional and suspenseful. The characters are retateable and had me on an emotional roller coaster throughout the story. This is a story of jealousy, kidnapping and just wanting what someone else has.. The twists and turns left me turning pages fast and kept me on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. I highly recommend this book.

This book was so full of twists and turns, I have read it nonstop this afternoon and evening only putting it down to do the essentials. It is a literal emotional roller coaster, I read a lot and I don’t know the last time a book got in my heart like this one.

‘You don’t deserve her’ rang in Lily’s ears again and again. What could this message from Hannah mean? She was frantic with worry because her baby daughter had disappeared with Lily’s best friend Hannah. It happened the day she invited Hannah to join her husband and three children on an outing to the theme park for a treat. Hannah was always welcomed into their household because the two of them were so close. Hannah had been left at their rendezvous holding Lily’s baby while she, her husband and her other two children headed for the rides. Hannah should have waited for them until their ride finished, but when they returned there was no sign of Hannah or Ella her new-born. At first they were not too worried and looked around for the two of them themselves, but Lily had a bad feeling about the situation and soon the family were reporting what increasingly looked like a kidnapping to the theme park security office. The awful truth was soon confirmed and what should have been a family of five returned home as a family of four.
The Police investigation into the abduction was soon initiated and everyone was on the alert for sightings of Hannah and Ella. Lily was a stay-at-home Mum but Hannah had no maternal instincts at all and was ambitious within her workplace. It just didn’t make sense. What could it all mean? The message left by Hannah haunted Lily. She couldn’t believe it. She loved her family to bits and was a good, loving mother. Hannah had left with nothing but what she had brought for their day out. Luckily Lily had a key to Hannah’s house so off she set to check if Hannah was at home. What she found in Hannah’s house chilled her to bits. This is the story of a friendship that had somehow gone wrong; of secrecy, suspicion, misunderstandings and jealousy, and what a rollercoaster of a story it was.
I really enjoyed this beautifully written story. Sam Vickery is very talented and full of compassion. I identified with her carefully crafted characters and came to deeply care for them. I thought the storyboard was very well handled and the pace kept you engrossed in the story, eagerly turning the pages wanting to find out what would happen. I liked the ending too. Another thing I loved about this novel was the meticulous research undertaken to make the story authentic. It was obvious that the author cared about the material she used and definitely wanted her story to carry forward the themes she had highlighted. I’m not going to list the many subtleties and themes within the story because I don’t want to spoil the story for you. I’d like you to enjoy this novel and its surprises as much as I did.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel from publisher Bookouture through my membership of NetGalley. These are my own honest and well considered opinions that are uninfluenced by any other reviews or publicity. This is a multi-layered and involving story filled with surprises and interesting information. The content is about every Mother’s worst nightmare coming true. I recommend it as a very good read and that is why I have given it a 4.5* review.

Save my daughter is a heartbreaking, poignant read that really demonstrates the power and intensity of a mother’s love, the sheer complexities of female relationships and the wonderful power of forgiveness and trust!
Imagine a lovely family day out with your husband best friend and your three children what could possibly go wrong?? Your youngest child being abducted, being betrayed in the most awful way by your best friend, your husband collapsing, and a terrifying diagnosis culminating in an untimely death! How do you you ever recover from this? Time, trust, love and forgiveness all come into play and prove how strong you can be as a female ,a widow ,a best friend but overall a mum!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

Lily and Jon are enjoying a family day out with their 3 children. Ella, at just 3 months old is too small for the rides so Hannah, Lily’s best friend comes along to watch over her. Suddenly, Lily is filled with foreboding and she realises Hannah and Ella are gone. Why? And will she ever see her baby again?

I found this book rather disconcerting. A lot of it could have been solved if the characters had just talked to each other! Lily was remarkably passive about Jon and his secret (no spoilers here!) in a way that just didn’t ring true at all. And Hannah, not sharing her own journey with her very best friend? It was all too far fetched for my liking. It’s a good idea, poorly executed.

I’m a huge fan of Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain and this book is a poor comparison. The characters lack depth and do not behave realistically. The writing is sound, but does not draw you in as it could. It’s a satisfactory tale but could have been so much more. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers but this one was not for me.

Two close friends. Except one day Hannah kidnaps Ellie, Lily"s youngest daughter. Why would she do that? Save My Daighter is a thoughtful, but sad book. Once the kidnapping has occurred, the author has the characters reflect on the past and what led to the kidnapping. And there's an even bigger revelation that was so heartbreaking. One of the best scenes is when Lily confronts Hannah. I thought Jonathan was too generous to Hannah. Readers will want to keep reading until the very end to discover the full story.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Save My Daughter' by Sam Vickery.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Sam Vickery, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 1st April 2020.

This is the third book I have read by this author. The previous book I read are called 'One Last Second' and 'My Only Child' which I loved and would also highly recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching and colouful cover and its captivating synopsis. The synopsis stated that this fans of Jodi Picoult, Kate Hewitt and Diane Chamberlain will be swept away by this book. I am a huge fan of all of their books so am interested to see if it will live up to this statement. I have also previously read two previous books by Sam which I loved and am hoping to enjoy this one just as much. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 44 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium to long in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in Dorset , UK 🇬🇧 . I always enjoy when books are set in the UK as I'm from Wales and have sometimes visited areas mentioned in the book. This makes it easier to picture the scenes. I have actually been on holiday in Dorset several times so it will be interesting to see if I recognise anywhere mentioned in the book.

This book is written in first person perspective with the protagonists being Lily and Hannah. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on and feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

It is set over multiple timelines (now, then and 'the day it all began' ). When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions.

Well, Well, Well, Sam Vickery you have done it again!!! Congratulations on yet another breathe taking novel!!

This book is extremely well written and the layout with the past and present chapters are perfect. They drip feed you information of what has gone on in the past with just the right amount of information to give you an idea of what is going on but not too much so that you work it all out. The cover and blurb work perfectly with the storyline.

Wow!! What an absolutely breathe taking and heart stopping storyline. Every mothers worst nightmare and as a mother it had me absolutely hooked. It is a beautiful and devastating plot that really shows the true devotion of a mother's love and the pains that someone may go through to have a baby and have that mothers love. It just completely blew me away and left me sitting there thinking what measures someone would go to to have that child and what would I do if I was in the situation of either Hannah or Lily. Would I forgive Hannah?

However, it wasn't just the one heart tugging storyline as you had the other subplot going on at the same time. I won't say too much as I don't want to give to much away but oh how I felt for Lily and Jon and everything they were going through. Have your tissues at the ready ladies and gents cause this one is a complete tear jerker!!!

The storyline was set at a perfect pace, not too fast and not too slow. It gave just the right amount of time for you to be able to take everything in as it was happening and question yourself about what you would do. It really is thought provoking.
It is an absolute roller-coaster ride of emotions and filled with love, deceit, secrets, tension and trust. A very powerful and gripping depiction of the power and intensity of a mother love and a fathers sacrifice. It sucked me in from page one until the tear jerking ending.

The characters are unique, well defined and realistic. The strength of Lily and Jon absolutely shine through as does the devastation Hannah is going through. Many would hate Hannah but if I was in that position I think I would do what Lily did, I think, at this time I would but who knows? Nobody knows how they would react until they are in that situation. I did have a lot of sympathy for Hannah but I also had sympathy for Lily and Jon. This book shows the power and devastation of not just a mother and fathers love but of friendship too.

I would absolutely love to see this turned into a movie!!! Another congratulations to Sam Vickery and I do believe that Jodi Picoult and Diane Chamberlain have some strong competition here when it comes to the book charts. Looking forward to her next gripping, and going by all her previous work, what promises to be heart rendering.

Overall a gorgeous, heart breaking, page turning, tear jerking and powerful novel of a parents love and sacrifice and a friends heartbreak and devastation. Powerful and addictive.

Genres covered in this novel include Psychological Fiction, Suspense and Religious Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans Jodi Picoult, Diane Chamberlain and ANYONE looking for a powerful tear jerker.

299 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Good story flow. I kept reading to see how it would all work out with Lilly's daughter kidnapped by her friend Hannah. This book is about keeping secrets and making assumptions ( jumping to conclusions). I found it somewhat depressing

I received an ARC from Bookouture through NetGalley for an honest review. When I read what the book was about I decided I wanted to read it because I couldn't understand how your best friend could do what Hannah did. Lily was the mother of 3 young children and Hannah didn't have any children so when Lily would vent about the kids, Hannah interpreted it as she wasn't a good mother. Jon and Lily decided to take the kids to the amusement park and asked Hannah if she wanted to go to help watch the kids. Although it wasn't planned when Lily and John took the two older children on a ride, Hannah left with Ella who was 3 months old.
Sam Vickery did an amazing job writing this story. The story flows right along, we learn the secrets, the hard truths, the pain, and finding out if there is a path after the trust is so broken. I knew it would be a hard book to read, but I wanted to see how a best friend could do what Hannah did, and I found out. Two women, best friends and their friendship was just seeing the surface of each other. It was only after the kidnapping do they go deeper in their relationship. As they went through the depths, they begin to see the pain, the misunderstandings, and what they each was seeing of the other. When you can do that, then you not only see things differently but maybe can find a way to forgive the other person and yourself. As you read the book, it will bring up many feelings in you and for me when I finished the book, I was thinking a lot differently than when I started.

Wow! A tender, love story of family, friendship, heartbreak and renewal!
Lily and Hannah have been best friends since they were eighteen, until paranoia, jealousy and a lot of secrets come between them.
Lily is a mother of three with a husband who loves his family more than anything.
Three young children can be overwhelming at times and very often is.
Lily shares only a bits and pieces of her role as a mum with Hannah, and often makes it appear as though she is ungrateful and exhausted with her life.
Hannah who has never wanted children, now decides she needs her own.
She will not share this with Lily. Lily may not understand.
She will do this on her own no matter what!
The day comes while they are all at a theme park, when a kidnapping occurs.
Their friendship is now on the line!
Can they ever find a way to resume their relationship and regain the trust that they have lost at a time when they truly need each other?

This book has so any layers and subjects and is very well done! It is a quick read filled with every emotion you can imagine! Well done!

Sam Vickery has written another heartrending story of two best friends and their divergent choices. While each keeps a secret, they feel their friendship flailing along. With one climatic choice the secrets will be revealed and we understand what each has sacrificed for the other. This one will give you all the feels!

A very moving story on some delicate subjects.
No matter how much you know someone you always have secrets.

Lily and Hannah have been friends for years and know everything about each other, or do they.
Lily is a stay at home mum and has just had her 3rd child, Hannah is career orientated.

Then one day Hannah disappears with the baby but it isn`t as easy as she thought.
A great emotional story.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My goodness, what a brilliant family drama this was, so well written it was full of emotion and suspense and I just loved every page and all the characters felt so real to me, absolutely brilliant.

I cannot speak highly enough about this book and thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this and I can thoroughly recommend.

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Lily, John, their best friend Hannah, and Lily and John's three children go together to spend the day at a local theme park. While Lily, John and the two older children are enjoying a rollercoaster, Hannah and baby Ella mysteriously vanish.

This book was a quick and exciting read. It went in directions I did not guess! It touched on several important issues, including the importance of not making assumptions, infertility, and cancer/end of life decisions.

I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a quick and suspenseful read.
