This book is set in a creepy prep-school that has a ghost problem, sprinkled with conspiracies and toxic friendships. What more could you ask for?

It definitely took my by surprise. One thing would happen where you would be like "Yup, that's it!" then you would be questioning your logic on the very next page.

The book has a creepy tone to it that did make me look around the room for ghost while I was reading. You can never be too careful! It will keep you on your toes. I was not expecting the ending! It sets you up to think it is going one way, then turns in another direction.

The only complaint I would have is that there were a decent amount of side characters and lots of names. It was hard for me to keep everyone straight and remember if so and so was just a classmate, someone she contacted outside of the school, or are they someones roommate.

Thank you to NetGalley, Delacorte Press, and Emily Arsenault for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

YA suspense seems to be a popular theme in my reading choices lately and I find I am really enjoying the trend. I'll be honest, any time I read the synopsis of a book and see that boarding school and murder is involved, I immediately add it to my 'to-read' list. So, when I was perusing upcoming releases and saw that When All the Girls Are Sleeping met that description, I knew that I wanted to read it.

When we first meet Haley, a student at a large prep school for girls, she is still mourning the loss of her best friend, Taylor, who died suddenly almost exactly a year ago. Haley has always felt that the academy has a strange feel to it, but she and her friends can't quite put their finger on what exactly feels off. Taylor's death was considered an accident or possibly suicide; however, the more Haley becomes aware of, the more she wonders if there is something everyone is missing.

Haley begins to look further into Taylor's death and uncovers more than she had bargained for. Strange sightings in the halls of the academy and stories of visitations of ghostly entities seem to be rumors at first, but the more Haley searches for answers, the weirder her experiences get. Then, new evidence surfaces surrounding the death of her deceased friend, and she and several other girls are convinced that Taylor was murdered.

When All the Girls Are Sleeping isn't the most believable book I have read recently, but it is a creepy and entertaining book for readers that enjoy letting their imagination loose for a while. If you're looking for something a little different than your typical YA suspense, than be sure to check this book out!

Oh My Goodness!! This was an awesome ghost story! I believe I will have a hard time keeping this one on the shelf when we get it.
Haley has been accepted into a fancy prep school as a scholarship student. She doesn't quite fit in, but she is determined to take this blessing and make it work. When the rich, strong-willed Taylor takes her in as her friend, she feels like she is finally starting to become of the girls. One problem...Taylor is low-key mean. She's the kind of mean where you don't know if she she's actually being mean until it's too late: sideways comments, posting seemingly innocent pics (where something embarrassing for someone else just happens to be in the background), etc, but Haley hasn't been the target so she didn't notice or she passed these things off as Haley being thoughtless, but not intentionally mean. Until the video. Until the sharing of the video. Until the young lady in the video had a mental breakdown and had to leave school. Haley knew it was Taylor and confronted her. She was determined to stop her and end being in her shadow forever afraid the next post or group text would feature her. Then The Winter Girl struck. She is the ghost rumored to haunt the dorm in the months of January and February. It is said once she finds her target, she will haunt that girl until she goes crazy in fear. Taylor was seemingly her latest target and jumped to her death almost a year ago. Now, it's winter again and it seems as if the ghost has her eyes on Haley.

First off, wow. I came to this book expecting ghosts and spookiness and I got so much more. This book is definitely spooky. It’s eerie. It gives you so much to think about as the story progresses. But you also see the effects of toxic friendships and secrets. This one hit me where it mattered. This was a wonderful book all around that I will be sure to recommend to customers at work.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. I really enjoyed this book. The main character investigates her friends death and the deeper she looks the more strange information she finds. The book did seem to drag a little in certain parts but it picks up quickly once you get past those parts. I really enjoyed the ending, The answer wasn't something I had guessed which I was a big fan of.

I thought this was a really well-done, easily readable YA suspense novel. It's got ghosts (maybe), a boarding school, long-held secrets and secret societies. It was a fun and quick read.

I really enjoyed this fast-paced read! Overall, I found myself constantly wanting to know more and flipping through the pages quite quickly. Arsenault keeps you very engaged and leaves no questions unanswered. However, one issue I did have with the book is I felt that there was a bit of "fluff" that may have been unnecessary through the first half of the book. After you hit half of the book it goes extremely fast and keeps you constantly guessing that you will not want to put the book down. I can honestly say I was not expecting the ending and boy was it good!

There are so many varying aspects of the book to keep readers of all interests engaged. There is the boarding school, friendships, and mystery/thriller aspect of the book. I think that readers will really enjoy how Arsenault makes you truly feel every emotion through her writing. Overall, I would recommend this book!

creepy ghost story and dealing with a loss of a friend at a school. Girl decides to solve something and more secrets are reveled and history plays a part of it. I was surprised by that twist at the end. But it did bring mental health and being away from family at a school. There are mean girls and lots of secrets. I did like how she used social media and reached out to others.

I read 25% before deciding not to finish this one. The idea seemed so intriguing but I contemplated with not finishing it before I actually did. The problem was the telling instead of showing and how slow the story moved. Plus, the narrator knows her former best friend died and it takes almost a year for her to out of the blue decide to look up a ghost legend after seeing writing on a window. Then instead of anything further happening she spends her days messaging and talking to people about ghostly encounters. The writing style wasn't a fit for me either. The characters seemed emotionless and they discussed random things. Thank you for giving me the chance to read this.

This is an engaging story about a ghost at a fancy prep school. After many sightings of the ghost and creepy things happening around the school, Hayley decided to investigate her ex besties death.
The story is kind of long and drawn out with an abrupt ending that left me unsatisfied.

Ghosts and guilt in a girls boarding school. A year after Harlow’s ex-best friend falls from a window, she investigates mysterious events that lead her to question the accident. In doing so she uncovers a century old tradition of terrorizing one mean girl each year who, in the judgment of a select few, needs to be taught humility. What appears to be ghosts is actually a secret society of girls hoping to receive college scholarships for “haunting” that year’s target. The characters are engaging and the mystery develops slowly as Harlow pieces together clues, although the wrap up is a bit too tidy and sudden.

The senior dorm at a fancy girl's prep school seems to have a ghost. And that ghost has been haunting the place for over a hundred years. There have been many sghtings of the ghost, as well as eerie things like knocking on the walls or doors. Haley's best friend died a year ago, on February 10th, the date of the ghost. Haley decides to research the ghost and the history of the historic dorm too. A thriller, but it was a bit long and then the ending just happened. Nothing exciting to conclude with. Teens may like the mystery involved here, but the ending is just disappointing.
