Patience is looking forward to her summer break from her teaching job, she has plans to travel with friends. However, a friend of the family is need of help, childcare help. Patience's mom convinces her to take the job. But what she doesn't know is that there have been threats on the new father/uncles' life.

Brodie is a quiet man, they first meet at a taco stand in downtown, where he buys her tacos and then asks her out. She turns him down because of her new summer job. What Patience and Brody do not yet know is that she is working for his boss and they get the chance to get to know one another. Brody screws up when he begins looking into Patience's past and she quickly calls him out on it. He goes to apologize and found that she is sick from food poisoning, but is it intentional or accidental?

Brody and Patience are both interesting characters, I think there is more to Brody's past than we learn in this book. I wish there was more character development with him. I really enjoyed this novella and really enjoyed getting to know these two characters and watching them get their HEA, however quickly that may have seemed.

Unintended Target is the second in the MacArthur Family Series. It's a quick, light read with a little bit of mystery and suspense, and some initial conflict between the 2 main characters, Brodie and Patience. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.

This is an adorable romantic romp. Brodie and Patience are sweet together. Mistakes are made and there is a bit of mystery and danger. But their tale is a delight.

I really enjoyed this novella, although I do wish it was a full length novel. Patience and Brodie are interesting, well-developed characters. I liked them both and the author did an outstanding job of sucking me into the plot and conflicts in a very short time. This is the second novella in the series and I think I liked it even more than the first. I'm looking very forward to the third and final, Saving Sienna. Can't wait!

Patience and Brody meet outside a club one night where the attraction is instant but unfortunately timing & circumstances mean it's nothing more than a mild flirtation - one of those things you look back on and wonder “if only?” A few weeks later they met again when Patience is helping out an old family friend by nannying for the summer and Brody is his head of security only to find Mr Dream Guy has suddenly morphed into Mr Suspicious Jerk. Cue instant romance.

I really enjoy this author's books but a huge part of me wishes she'd stop writing novellas and expand the stories into full length novels. The romance side of things between the hero and heroine moved at warp speed but I just felt there was very little substance to their relationship. Don't get me wrong I loved the characters but there was just something missing. With regards to the plot I would have loved more build up of tension and suspense. I liked this book but I feel I could've loved it if only there was more of everything.

I do enjoy Katie Reus’s stories, even though I’m not a fan of writing in the third person, it does work well with these stories. There’s always a little drama, suspense and of course romance. Plus, Unintended Target has the added benefit of a grumpy, super sexy bodyguard, Brodie, who it seems doesn’t trust anyone, not even sweet nanny, Patience. Even though she’s sweet and gentle she has a fierce protective side, and Brodie soon discovers she’s no wallflower. The attraction’s real, and so is the threat. A quick enjoyable read. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Patience finds herself doing a good deed for a family friend who is in desperate need of a nanny. What she didn’t expect was to find herself working along side her mystery man she met a few nights prior. Brock has been the head of security for his friend Trevor for many years and while he was out of town Trevor brings in a new nanny without clearing her background Frits with Brock. When these two meet it’s definitely hot.

I love this couple, sparks definitely crackle with these to and when danger is mixed in Brock protective instincts go on overdrive. Great series, as good as the the 1st book in the series but you definitely do not need to read the first to get into the flow of the second book. However, in my opinion you will enjoy both.

Brody and Patience's story is a short novella with a lots of drama, romance, and suspense. It may be a short afternoon read, but it is one that is hard to put down once started. As a favor to her mother, Patience steps in to be a nanny for the summer for a friend. Brody, the head of security is a bit suspicious, and Patience butting heads with him doesn't do her any favors. However, something happens that will change things for them both as Brody's instincts kick in and his protections takes over. A lot of story packed in to this novella, **I was gifted "Unintended Target" via NetGalley, leaving my review based on my reading.** 4.5 Stars!

I have read most of Katie Reus’s books, and generally love them all. This was a very cute romance with an adorable baby, a nanny, and a hot security guard, however it felt very simplistic to me. I am used to much deeper plots from her, especially in her romantic suspense books. I know this is not that kind of book, as it is a contemporary romance. It was a very cute story and enjoyable for what it was. It was very light reading, and one sitting is all it takes to read and devour this story.

Patience agrees to help Trevor out and be his nanny for a short time. Brodie is Trevor’s head of security and suspicious of everyone. These two clash right away. As the title suggests, Patience gets caught up in someone’s plot. Brodie does all that he can to watch over Patience and love comes about as a result. Steamy and lots of action and suspense.

Patience has the perfect name for her personality. A kindergarten teacher, her joy comes from seeing the beaming faces of 5 and 6 year olds who are too young to know what it means to wait. She shows this same attitude when giving up her summer to look after a 6 month child who has lost more than he even knows. And her willingness to put up with the bossy and challenging head of security (Brodie), despite his contrariness shows that patience truly does top the list of graces.

Unintended Target by Katie Reus is a short, fast-paced, engaging romantic suspense novella. This is This is security specialist Brodie MacArthur, and kindergarten teacher Patience Carras’ story. Patience is a teacher and was due to have a summer break but she got a call from her mom, who is friends with Trevor Robinson mom. He was needing a nanny for his nephew due to being without one suddenly. So Patience offered to help out temporarily. Brodie is Trevor's head of security and the sparks fly between them. They start off on the wrong spot but get on the same page and soon the sparks fly. Suddenly Patience finds that she’s beset by food poisoning, hit and run...who is out to hurt Patience? Is this related to Brodie's boss Trevor's business or is someone else now out to hurt Patience? The story is gripping, entertaining and full of twists, turns, suspense intensity, action and romance . Can't wait for book 3 in this novella series.

Once you start you will not be able to put this down. Oh, my goodness this is such a good book. I loved it! Brodie is a whole lot of wow with a little bit of aww mixed in. The plot was interesting and plays perfectly into the title. The romance, suspense and characters are perfectly balanced which keeps you turning the page.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I loved reading these books about the MacArthur family so was looking forward to this one with Brodie MacArthur. He works for Trevor when he meets Patience one night but nothing happens. A few days later, they meet again when she helps out a family friend, Trevor, for the summer as his nanny.

While they are interested in each other, Brodie is not someone who trusts easily and really blows it when he checks into her previous work experience and gets a malicious report from a disgruntled and sexual predator who she worked for years ago.

There was also kind of a mystery as to why the previous nannies kept quitting. So, with lots of romance, some intrigue, and drama, it was hard to put the book down! I had to read it in one sitting and loved their HEA!

Initial Thoughts/Expectations
I fully expected to be drawn into this book, just like I was the first book of this series.

What I Loved
Unintended Target is the second book in a new MacArthur Family Series and I absolutely loved it. The chemistry between the two main characters was present from the beginning. This book was filled with action, suspense, and romance. Once I began reading this book, I did not want to stop. I felt like a kid in a candy store given free access to all the candies. I enjoyed watching Patience and Trevor’s relationship development. I was extremely glad it was not instant love. It was such a romantic story. I am loving this family!!

What I Did Not Love
There was nothing about this book that I did not love. What I found is that I enjoyed this book even more than the first. I am truly ready to read it again.

Final Thoughts
Ms. Reus outdid herself with this book. I did not want to put this book down. I am already hoping that at the end of this series there is a holiday book or something where we get to catch up on each of the couples. I hope Ms. Reus is receiving the bug I am trying to put in her ear!! LOL.

This book is a MUST READ FIVE STAR!!!

Katie Reus is able to take a Novella length story and fill it with sexy and blush worth romance, action back and characters that readers will be able to connect with. The short story pack a big punch and readers of Katie Rues will love this new series.

Thank you to Netgalley and the author for a copy of Katie Reus Unintended Target.

3.75 stars--UNINTENDED TARGET is the second instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult MACARTHUR FAMILY romantic suspense novella series. This is security specialist Brodie MacArthur, and kindergarten teacher Patience Carras’ story line. UNINTENDED TARGET can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Patience and Brodie) UNINTENDED TARGET follows the quick building romance and relationship between security specialist Brodie MacArthur and kindergarten teacher Patience Carras. Patience Carras was looking forward to the summer off but a call from her mother found Patience working as a nanny for Trevor, a family friend whose previous five nannies had all quit unexpectedly. Meeting the on-site security specialist Brodie MacArthur stirred something deep within our story line heroine but Brodie crossed a line as it pertained to an event in our heroine’s past, an event that has left its’ mark on her heart and her soul. Security is tight around Patience’s new employer leaving our heroine the latest target. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Brodie and Patience, and the potential fall-out as the threats to Trevor have been transferred as threats to our story line heroine.

UNINTENDED TARGET is a fast paced and intriguing story line. The premise is edgy; the romance is captivating; the characters are animated and spirited. As per many novella length stories, the conflict resolution is quick-I was hoping for a little more build up of suspense and mystery.

This is book 2 in the MacArthur Family series and can absolutely be read as a standalone! In this one we get Brodie and Patience's story. Patience is an elementary school teacher who has already planned out her summer when her mother asks her for a favor for a friend. Be a temporary nanny. When she agrees, she never expected to not only butt heads with the head of security, or to be attracted to him. Brodie made a mistake with Patience, and that one mistake ruined how she thinks of him. But when she falls ill, and he realizes that it's more than just being sick, he will do what he has to in order to keep her safe. And show her that they are more to each other than they eve thought they could be.

I really liked this one! I was a little bit leery just with the way Brodie was acting at first but once I realized why he did the things he did, I actually liked him more. Their chemistry was off the charts from the start. The banter back and forth made me laugh a lot of the times. And the suspense kept me interested. As usual with most series that I read and like, the side characters also made me want to know more. I know there isn't a book planned for Brodie's boss, but I for one would love to have a story for him as well! He deserves a HEA too! This was definitely an enjoyable read for me!
