Unintended Target is Brodie's story and I was so thrilled his book was number 2. Katie knows how to write an alpha male, and I fall in love with each new hero she creates. I'm in love with this series and I am already counting down the days for Carson's book. Unintended Target is a suspense and sexy novella and I adored it.

It's brother Brodie's turn for a HEA. Patience meets him and likes him, and then he does a bone head thing. They meet again, and he has to work for her to give him another chance. I sure didn't see that person as the bad guy. There's only a one sentence mention of the previous couple. I hope Trevor gets a book too, but I think sister Sienna is up next.

3 stars - I liked it

Elementary school teacher Patience’s whole summer changes after a friend of the family needs a babysitter. She doesn’t expect to butt heads or be attracted to the employers sexy head of security, Brodie MacArthur.

This was an enjoyable and cute romance. Patience is a very sweet woman who adores children. When her mother guilts her into canceling her plans for the summer to babysit, love is the last thing on her mind. Patience and Brodie get off to a rocky start but they quickly overcome that issue when Patience gets sick.

“You’re all I can think about day and night.”

Brodie is a very protective male, which means he is a good bodyguard. He takes his employer Trevor’s security very seriously and now is just as serious about the baby’s security. I really liked how sweet Brodie was. He instantly steps up when he sees Patience is sick and gets her everything she could need. Brodie is just the sweet, tough man who you know you can always rely on, especially in emergencies.

Even though this is part of a series, this is a standalone story. Brodie is the brother of Daniel from the first book, Falling for Irish, but reading that book is not necessary. Everything wraps up by the end of this book. Also, Daniel was only briefly mentioned in this book so I never felt like I was missing out for not reading his story. I do want to read the next book though because their sister Sienna sounds like an awesome woman.

Trigger Warning:
- References of sexual harassment by an employer
- death of family members, mentioned
- Attempted kidnapping
- Harassment and threats from another employee

It's a slow burn kind of story. Patience is a kindergarten teacher doing a favor for her family and sets out to be a nanny for her summer vacation. Brodie is an overzealous head of security and he's suspicious of everyone, including Patience who has shown up on his boss's doorstep. He also messed up with Patience and he's got to figure out how to fix it. Loved Patience when she was "some kind of a cartoon princess, making cupcakes and singing to herself", totally cute description by the author. Also loved her teasing of Brodie, "if you're lucky, you'll get to see me wearing what's in those bags". Also a great description of how Patience was feeling ... "rollercoaster with no breaks". This book made me smile for sure.

This is a fast.read full of cuteness with Oliver, and hotness with Brodie. The story was very well written with just a hint of trouble finessed into it. A very good story you will want to read in one sitting.

Unintended Target (MacArthur Family, #2) by Katie Reus
This is the second book in this series...why can I only give it 5 stars?
This is Brodie and Patience's story.... he is head of security and she is a school teacher on summer break working as a temporary nanny for a family friend. This book has it all (even for a quick read), angst, evil plots, adorable baby, laughter, tears, fear, mystery and steam to get us to a very HEA. I can't wait for the next book in this series SAVING SIENNA.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Patience is a kindergarten teacher and can’t wait for summer. Her mother calls and asks her to be a nanny for her friends son, Trevor. He is now the guardian of a little boy and his nanny’s keep quitting. Brodie meets Patience and asks her out. She turns him down until after summer. When she starts the nanny job, Brodie is head of security. Brodie puts his foot in his mouth and Patience threatens to quit. When Patience gets food poisoned, Brodie steps up and takes care of her. It looks like Patience has been targeted, Brodie will do anything to figure out what is going on.

Suspense and romance. It is told in both of their point of views but not enough of Brodie’s side to me. I wanted to smack Patience at the end but only for a few minutes. Enjoyed it anyway.

This is the second installment in the MacArthur Family series.

Patience, a teacher, is enjoying her summer holidays when her mom asks her to do a favor being a nanny to Oliver. The boy is living with his uncle Trevor after losing his parents.

Brodie is Trevor's head of security. There has been some threats against Trevor, all the former nannies quit and he's trying to find out why.

Patience and Brodie get off on the wrong foot due to some misunderstanding but quickly start falling for each other.

This was a quick read with great romance and a bit of suspence. I quickly knew who the culprit was but I still found the story captivating.

I'm looking forward to the next one.

A big thank you to the author and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

So, I didn’t really care for this one. It was really slow and kinda boring. The relationship really doesn’t do anything for nearly 80% of the book. I didn’t understand the connection and I didn’t care for Patience. She was so perfect. Great teacher, great with kids, so understanding, knows something about everything, blah blah she just annoyed me.

Unintended Target by Katie Reus is a short, lighthearted, yet thrilling romantic suspense novella.

Patience, our heroine is an elementary school teacher who is looking forward to enjoying her whole summer off. She has plans to enjoy herself and travel a bit. Just as soon as she’s starting to get comfortable with the idea of having the entire summer off, her mom calls with an update about Trevor, a family friend who recently became a guardian to his baby nephew Oliver. Her mom ends up guilt tripping her big time into helping Trevor out.

Patience used to have experience with children as a nanny before she became a teacher, so her mom convinced her to take the temporary position as Trevor’s nanny. Patience meets Trevor and all went well. Then she meets his tall, dark, smoking hot head of security Brodie, our hero.

Brodie is cold towards Patience at first, but he has good reason. Through a series of lies, twists, and turns, Brodie finds out who he can really trust. Our hero Brodie is a strong confident man, yet down to earth and treats a woman with respect. I adored Patience and her ability to stand up for herself regardless of the circumstances. I was proud of Brodie and his ability to accept responsibility when due. He is a stand-up guy, smart and his job makes him that much hotter. Patience is definitely impressed.

Though Unintended Target is the second book in the MacArthur Family Series, it isn’t pertinent that you read the first book in order to understand this one. I didn’t.

Although short, this novella was thrilling, suspenseful as well as SO romantic. We are privy to a cute story about two people who have a true connection with each other. I loved how realistic the characters were portrayed, flaws and all.

I would recommend this book as well as read more by this author in the future. In fact, I would love to read the entire MacArthur Family Series. I love an interconnected series of standalone novels surrounding a family! This is right up my alley.

I received an ARC by NetGalley and am providing my honest review.

3.5*
Patience is a teacher on summer break. Her plans include a whole lot of relaxing and then some more relaxing, but when family friends ask her to babysit a little boy she cannot bring herself to say no. Brodie is head of security for Patience's employer. And these two do not start on the right foot. Then Patience gets poisoned and Brodie suspects that it wasn't an accident.
I enjoyed this one a bit less than the first novella. The heroes of the first one, Kathryn and Daniel, Brodie's brother, already had an established connection and it was a second chance romance. The feelings were there already, they just needed to clear out some misunderstandings. Here though, Patience and Brodie really don't have the best of beginnings. And it was all his fault. I mean, he makes up for it but I felt like after it the romance developed really fast, too fast. I think there was a clear lack of common ground between them, other than the attraction that they feel. They exchanged texts but we never got to see them, so I don't even know what they talked about if they even had anything to talk about.
Still, it was a nice quick read that I definitely enjoyed. Also, can't wait to read about Sienna.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a sweet little romance. You'll enjoy curling up with this book for a quick read anywhere.

When Patience gets talked into a summer nanny job and out of the vacationing summer plans she made she has no idea it could lead to the love of her life.

I found this to be a cute story even with the side of danger. That’s mainly due to Patience. She was a sweet heroine who steps into help a family friend, as a nanny, while they try to figure out why all the previous nannies quit. I was just as baffled as they were until a few pieces of the puzzle started to come together.

Our hero Brodie was a bit more intense. He’s head of security for the guy Patience is helping and they have an instant connection. However, Brodie has a pretty suspicion nature and almost messes up his chance with her. I did like how he made up for it though.

This was on the shorter side, but fleshed out enough to feel like a full book. I enjoyed the storyline and especially this couple!

She’s an Unintended Target🎯

Patience is a kindergarten teacher and on holiday, when her mom calls her for a favour. She agrees and starts a nanny job looking after Oliver. Unfortunately, some weird events take place which Brodie, Trevor’s Head of Security starts to suspect is an inside job especially since him and Patience have started seeing each other😳

I loved this story of Patience and Brodie, it was filled with suspense and the pages flew by. I can’t wait to read Sienna’s story next❣️I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

Patience and Brodie had a sweet story with a dash of danger sprinkled on top. After woefully failing in his research duties (and going against Trevor’s wishes in the process), Brodie manages to stick both feet and an arm in his mouth with Patience. Unlike some men, though, he’s quick to apologize and does his best to get into her good graces. All would be golden if it weren’t for someone seeming to target Patience in a campaign to run her off. And once the mystery is solved, Brodie and Patience have one more misunderstanding to clear up before they can find their happy. Luckily, communication is a thing between these two, so another crisis is semi-averted rather quickly, leaving them with a bright future together.

This series is entertaining and manages to not be a rehash of the same story over and over, so I’ll be interested to see who Sienna finds her happiness with next.

Originally I wanted to give the book three stars because I didn't have any feelings about it one way or another but the last chapter and two epilogues just... Ruined it. The characters were very flat in my opinion and didn't have any sort of personality traits. I felt like I knew Patience and Brodie as well as they knew each other: not at all.
The reason the last chapter dropped my rating is because an absolutely unnecessary conflict was added to create some form of suspension. Which felt so unnecessary because the book was pretty much over. Overall just a very predictable storyline which would have been fine if the characters were done well or had good chemistry. Unfortunately rather disappointed (and if I have to read the phrases 's/he snorted' and 's/he laughed lightly' I'm going to lose my ever loving mind).

Wow! Quick read with lots of action packed inside. Brodie acted like a jerk in the beginning, but totally redeemed himself. Patience was really good about setting her boundaries.

The author brings such lightness and energy to this story and couple that you want to carry on being part of their world. With the usual suspense that we expect from Katie Reus, this short read will give you all the feels.
