Country Music Cowboy is the third title in the Kings of Country series, and it appears to be the conclusion as well. I’ll admit that I was certainly hoping to see one particular character get taken down a few pegs but… a series ends where the author says it does, so I’ll just imagine that she got what she deserved eventually.

I have enjoyed the series and looked forward to Travis’ story, and he got a lady that he deserves… well, eventually, first there are some enemies-to-lovers moments to get through and some very rocky roads before Loretta and Travis can wander off into the sunset with their happy ever after ending.

Travis is a recovering alcoholic and it has been a downward spiral that took him back to rehab, the time that finally took for him. Every person in recovery is different, and Travis had to walk his journey until this moment. Now he has an upward climb to prove to himself, and to others that he’s sober and intends to stay that way for the rest of his life… it’s been a year, but there are times when each day is a battle to get through without going backward.

Loretta has been part of a popular country duo and is now facing a solo career when her partner dies. She has a rough road ahead of her as well, and she certainly isn’t as trusting of others as she once was …Johnny made sure of that. She will be singing with Travis at an award show to honor her deceased partner, and she certainly doesn’t want any part of Travis for she sees him as another playboy cowboy who makes promises and breaks them left and right, as his many stints in rehab have proven. She’ll get through this, somehow, but doesn’t expect the King family to gather her up and tend to her wounds or for the spark of attraction for Travis that she’s doing her best to ignore.

Both Loretta and Travis have baggage, and it shows. Watching them move from enemies that even Travis couldn’t seem to charm, to so much more was an emotional journey. They fit, even though wounded they fit together so well, they balanced each other but they had to get past some serious misconceptions about each other. We’ll get to meet up with the rest of the King family, see some familiar faces, and watch a love song come true for Travis and Loretta. I enjoyed myself and I’ll miss this world but look forward to what this author brings us next.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Apologies for the late response on this title, and apologies for clogging up an inbox on old titles.

While I am aware it's obvious, I have chosen not to read/review this title.

As always, I appreciate access to titles and look forward to the next one...which I have likely already read based on how long ago this title was published.

Thanks, again.

I had not read the first two books in this series, so I started off with them. And I loved them. I loved this book just as much.

This series is about three siblings who are also in a band - the Kings. Two girls (twins) and a brother. Each book is about a different main character, although they are all three in all three books. This series is great - these are wholesome (for the most part) people who happen to also be big music stars.

If you haven’t tried this series, grab it now.

I received a copy on this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.

Here for all the music-theme romances! I loved Travis and Loretta together!

What's a country music star to do when his world is falling apart around him? Can a new singing partner help him cowboy up and find his way back home?

According to his record label, Travis King's drinking and partying has to stop. Or else... Image rebranding means joining AA and singing opposite one of the industry's rising stars at an upcoming awards show. It wouldn't be so bad if Loretta Gram wasn't cold as ice. No matter how hard he turns on the charm, she won't give him a break. It looks like this cowboy has finally met his match.

Loretta is still grieving the death of her original singing partner, and she doesn't have it in her to deal with playboy Travis King. But her career is all she has, so if singing with the Three Kings is what she needs, she'll do it. Loretta isn't as cold as she lets on, but she's had more than her share of heartache. When she finally shows Travis who she is, he knows he'd do anything to be her forever cowboy.

Country Music Cowboy is an incredible and heartfelt romance that tackles heavy themes. This can be a tough read since it includes addiction, death, and abuse but the romance provides comfort and warmth where the book needs it. This book is all about redemption, loving and forgiving yourself, and finding comfort in someone else.

This is perfect for fans of big sweeping love stories set on a Hollywood stage. I loved the use of country music within this book and it made the characters so interesting. A must read for fans of Walk the Line and A Star is Born!

Finally, we get to Travis's story. He and fellow country singer Loretta pair up for a duet. She immediately takes issue with him, but can't deny the attraction. However, her life is complicated and she's keeping a lot of secrets.
Great writing, great characters. I've read every story in this series so far, and I'm hopeful that there will be one more to finish with the "secret brother" storyline.

Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers - 3rd book in the Kings of Country series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. Slight cliffhanger for the series but this couple’s story is complete. An emotional story with a rollercoaster of highs and lows of self esteem, acceptance, support, and love. A plethora of song lyrics (poems?) about love that document especially their longings for each other. A couple of enemies that we can all hate. A bit of sexy to go with the suggestive lyrics.

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the third book in the 'Kings of Country' series. I really enjoyed the previous book, so was glad to get my hands on a copy of this one. The King family are a big deal in the country music scene. Travis King needs to get his act together and stop all the partying and drinking, or his record company will pull the plug. In a bid to get his image back to where they want it they arrange for him to sing with rising star Loretta Gram.

The last place Loretta wants to be, is singing along side Travis King, having recently lost her singing partner she is still grieving, and hates the playboy she is being forced to work with. The pair do what is expected of them on stage but they hate each other. But as they get closer they realise both of them are running from their own demons and realise things aren't always as they appear.

One thing I love about these books is the extended King family. We get to find out how they are all doing, especially Hank King, Travis's father and king of the country music world. It's an all star cast and the book continues to show family support and loyalty. I really enjoyed this instalment and look forwards to more in the future.

I am a HUGE fan of country music, & that is what originally drew me to this book. AND it lived up to my expectations for sure!

This was book 3 in the Kings of Country Music series, though it can be read as a stand-alone. I hadn't read any of the earlier books (now I want to), but I am glad to say I wasn't confused at all. I loved the entire family concept of this book as well. They work together, live together, & actually care about the ins and outs of each others lives.

Travis was a very interesting character, & I loved getting to know him and his family throughout. Loretta also kept me engaged because and had me really rooting for her because she is put in a difficult situation after the tragic loss of her friend.

Overall, this book was a smooth, easy read, & if you're a fan of country music then that is a major plus!

Initial Thoughts/Expectations

The Sisters could not wait to return to the world of the Kings and to see Travis get his moment in the spotlight…. Something it turns out he felt he didn’t deserve! In previous books, Travis often served as comedic relief but we always sensed there was more to him. We also relished the idea of getting a male take on the family drama.

What We Loved

Country Music Cowboy picks up about a year after book 2 in the Kings of Country series by Sasha Summers. Travis’ overindulgence and partying led to scandal and need for soul searching in the previous year which brings us face-to-face with the real Travis, the one hiding behind the “fun guy” persona up until now. It turns out that Travis, also known as “The Golden King. The Casanova of Country Music. The Heartbreak King. King of Smiles. King of Charming.” feels like anything but the amazing and talented singer/performer that those that love him know him to be. Watching Travis grow and come into his own is a highlight of the book for us.

Travis’ story is heavily shaped by his family and we love the fact that being a King continues to mean having a great support system. The love between the Kings (minus CiCi) continues to shine in this book. It is what brings us back and it never disappoints. Krystal and Emmy Lou are beyond adorable and their beaus kick the adorableness up several notches. We lived for those King family moments - they laugh together, tease each other and fiercely stand up for one another. Loretta Gram and her chosen family fit in perfectly with the King family and we appreciated the moments when everyone was all together just enjoying simple downtime.

The Romance…. Give us a book in which the two main characters simultaneously desire to scratch each other’s eyes out and want to fall into bed together and you’ll not hear one complaint from us. Loretta Gram is known as the ice queen in the country music circle and while she’s not necessarily cold in our view, she does often come across as extremely guarded and rigid. With the tragic passing of her music partner Johnny and her money-grabbing father popping up around every corner, it became quickly apparent why Loretta put up a wall which made us even more eager for Travis to enter her life and knock it the wall down. Loretta doesn’t believe that Travis has changed his partying and playboy ways so she’s instantly turned off by him and resolute not to fall prey to his charms. Thankfully, fate requires they make a partnership work to achieve a country music comeback and being on tour together forces Travis and Loretta to endure one another’s company nonstop - we get to see sparks fly both on and off of the stage. Travis knew just how to get under Loretta’s skin and Loretta’s mere presence drove Travis to distraction, but when they were singing together or writing music it flowed and was a thing of beauty. Their push and pull relationship kept us in suspense and provided a diversion from all the King family drama!

What we didn’t love

We loved everything about this story and our fingers are crossed we get more Kings of Country. However, we hate CiCi with a searing passion. It is a testament to Sasha that she can write such a hateful character who we’d like to see eaten by pigs but who is probably responsible for the whole story and most of what we like about it. If she had never been part of the story, we wouldn’t have the Three Kings. If she weren’t the detestable snake that she is, that King family dynamic of loving and protecting each other fiercely wouldn’t be as well-honed as it is.

Final Thoughts

This book gave us so much to be happy about. Ultimately, seeing all the King siblings happy and thriving, having faced challenges they were presented head-on makes our hearts smile. While drama brought on by family is sometimes the hardest to overcome, the Kings show us that building and trusting a support system is the key. We want more and hope we’ll get it in Sawyer’s story…. Because he has to have a story if only because there is at least one more King that deserves his HEA!

This is my first book by this author and I loved it!

Travis and Loretta were great characters to get to know. Their stories were unique but highly emotional. I loved watching them connect over their love of music and shared heartache, even if the source of their pain came from different experiences. I especially enjoyed seeing how Loretta's assumptions about Travis were disproved the more time she spent with him.

I appreciated the author's way of bringing these two together in a believable, realistic way even while they were immersed in the music industry. From enemies, to friends, to lovers--their journey was sweet, emotional and filled with passion. The were funny moments, plenty of candid interactions and chemistry in abundance. I loved it!

Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. I have not read the previous book in the series and was able to enjoy this one immensely. The author's main focus was on Travis and Loretta's story and she gave plenty of backstory for the reader to follow along without any problems.

All in all, a fantastic romantic read.

Even famous country music stars have insecurities. That’s the premise of Sasha Summers newest book Country Music Cowboy. This story is filled with emotion and heartache but also optimism and good feelings. Loretta and Travis are both successful country music stars and they have one thing in common, they each have a whole lot of baggage.

I loved reading Travis and Loretta’s story, they have loads of chemistry and great dynamics between them. I enjoyed reading this touching story filled with scorching looks and underlying tension. Travis and Loretta are complex characters and they have been through so much, I kept hoping they would have the HEA they deserve. I knew if they just let their guard down and believed in the power of love, they would find happiness together.

Travis King and his family have been part of the country music scene for years. Travis has a well deserved bad boy reputation and is a recovering alcoholic working hard every day to stay sober. Travis has demons and even though he is successful and handsome, he is full of self doubts and insecurities.

Besides being a country music star, Loretta hasn’t had too much good luck in her life. The last thing Loretta wants to do is to get involved with Travis, but she can’t seem to help herself.

I enjoyed being immersed in the country music scene. This is a moving story with an interesting plot, the pacing is good and although the characters are celebrities, they felt real to me. I was quickly turning the pages to find out what would happen next.

I found it easy to relate to Travis and Loretta, plus I loved the entertaining secondary characters included in this story. I have read all the books in this series and each one is about a different sibling in the King family. This tender and uplifting story left me with a smile on my face.

This is the third in a series about the three King siblings, country music stars, finding their own love stories. I haven’t read the first two but I don’t think it mattered too much; Travis’ story stands pretty well on its own. However, if you’re looking for a cowboy romance, this isn’t it. The most cowboy it gets is the fact that he pretty much always wears cowboy boots and a Stetson.

There are some really heavy themes here for a romance, and it definitely needs trigger warnings for: drug and alcohol addiction, rehab, drug overdose, abusive parents, death of a friend and friend with cancer. If you liked A Star Is Born but were devastated that it didn’t have a happily ever after, you’re going to absolutely love this. Both Travis and Loretta are Messy, with a ton of baggage they have to deal with, both past and present, but theirs is one of those relationships where together, they are far stronger than they are apart, and I absolutely bought into that. Once they start trusting each other, everything clicks into place despite outside forces working against them.

Despite the heavy themes - or perhaps because of them - I absolutely loved this. Travis and Loretta are both easy to feel sympathy for; you want them to be happy and to work it out. The drama and tragedy, and especially the level of public and social media scrutiny they had to endure, actually felt very real for two people living their life in the public eye. I’m happy to give this five stars.

Country Music Cowboy is the third book from the Kings of Country series. It was actually the first book I read in this series when I got approved for an advanced reader copy on Netgalley. I didn't realize it was part of a series! You can read this by itself but, if you're like me, and find yourself wanting to know more about the King family, I highly recommend you check out the other books in the series as well.

Country Music Cowboy follows the story of Travis King and Loretta Gram. Travis is a member of a trio called The Three Kings with his sisters, Krystal and Emmy Lou. His family is country music royalty, and he has recently found himself on the dark side of fame. In order to try to rebrand his image, his label wants him to team up with fellow country artist Loretta, who recently had her own share of tragedy. From the moment these two artists meet, it is nothing but head butting, chemistry, and tension.

Loretta does not want to deal with Travis. She is still grieving the death of her original singing partner and is afraid to go down the same path with another partying artist. On the surface, she appears to be very cold hearted but, this is just a mask that she puts up to protect herself from the rest of the world. Travis can see under this mask and she hate it. She also hates how much she is drawn to him even though she tries to hard to resist. Loretta is such a strong character and I loved that she refuses to be pushed around by anyone, including Travis.

Travis knows that he has screwed up and he is genuinely trying to prove himself again. He has enjoyed being part of the trio with his sisters but, he also wants to be able to break away and do his own thing. He is a broken soul just trying to find his way in the world. . He feels this pull to Loretta that he is having a really hard time resisting. He is tired of failing and just wants to connect with someone for real. My heart broke for Travis. I wanted him to feel that connection and believe that the people around him do love him and support him. Well except for his mother - she is once again just a toxic human being.

Country Music Cowboy is filled with a sexual tension and chemistry that kept me turning pages. This is your classic enemies to lovers set up. Loretta and Travis agree to "one night" to get each other out of their systems but one night is just not enough. I really enjoyed watching these two push each others buttons and really move this opposites attract story forward. Everyone around them could see the connection no matter how strongly they denied it.

Country Music Cowboy really brought me into the world of country music and fame that Sasha Summers has created. Within her stories, there is a touch of realness as well a sliver of reality television exaggeration. Love, laughter, music, and drama fill this story and bring everything together. I'm hopeful that this will not be the last time I am able to spend time with the King family. I just can't seem to get enough of them. Oh, and I want to know more about Sawyer!

When I requested this novel on netgalley I did not realize it was part of a series. Even though it can be read as a stand alone I recommend reading them in order since there are events continuing that began in the two previous books. At times I felt like I was missing something and think the story would have flown better knowing the previous two novels since the characters are also in this one.

The storyline itself is enjoyable, it's a typical enemies to lovers story. You get a lot of angst in the plot. The downside was the story and characters were a little too predictable for me. I also felt like there were too many jumps between different scenes and places without the story flowing. Between that and the jumping between characters points of you I found myself pulled out of the story way too much. I would have liked to see some kind of other obvious sign they were switching views other than just a paragraph break.

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the third book in the Kings of Country series. I loved this book, and I loved the characters of this book. I normally not a big fan of books with a lot of music/singers, but this one was really good. There was a lot of characters, but it was written where the book having a ton of characters did not bother me at all. I really loved how most of the characters has big personalities, and I can see me loving getting to know all of while I read this series. I also love that a lot of the characters are over coming something. Great book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Sourcebooks Casablanca) or author (Sasha Summers) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

It’s been awhile since I read a music romance, mostly because when I’ve read one in the past few years, they haven’t been the best of experiences. That said, Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers is right on target and makes me want to read the first two books in the series.

Loretta Gram has lost her best friend and singing partner to an untimely death, and she’s not in the right frame of mind to be dealing with Travis King, the son of the famous country star Hank King and a member of the Three Kings. As far as she can tell, he’s an out-of-control player who has been spoiled rotten and has no responsibilities or cares for anyone else. But Loretta doesn’t really know Travis. She just goes by what the tabloids and rumor-mill tell her.

Fresh out of rehab, Travis is trying to start over. He’s a year sober and looking forward to starting his new path. He’s surprised and then mad when Loretta Gram presumes that he’s pretending to be sober. But there’s something between them. When Loretta discovers the truth, it opens up a door to a new level for them, if only they can navigate certain self-interested family members and learn to trust. Travis is funny and sweet and Loretta is strong and self-sufficient. They are a very readable match.

Country Music Cowboy is just such a solid read with interesting, likeable characters, great pacing, and a plot in which the hard topics are sometimes dealt with in a sympathetic manner. While I sometimes go “ugh” when I read the “lyrics” that authors give their characters to write, even here, the writing was good with a sense of rhythm and rhyme that would be perfect for a song.

Because I liked the novel’s synopsis, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that this is the third novel in the Kings of Country series. I needn’t have worried. While there were a lot of characters (the romances that had already preceded Travis and Loretta’s), they never felt extra. They had a place in the story because the Kings are a close-knit family, with the exception of the mother, Cici, who is divorcing Hank. Likewise, there weren’t any holes in the plot that weren’t filled in this story’s telling. So, all-in-all, a satisfying experience.

While Sasha Summers has written quite a number of novels, this is the first I’ve read but most definitely won’t be the last. First, I’m going to read about the other Kings of Country.

A solid, satisfying read about a likeable couple.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Attention grabbing characters with powerful back stories nabbed me and held on tight throughout in the third book in the Kings of Country series by Sasha Summers. COUNTRY MUSIC COWBOY brings Travis King to the forefront as his life is falling apart around him and he's trying to make a come back with the help of country music's sweetheart.

I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a close knit family who are all country music stars with lots of drama surrounding them as each sibling finds their happily ever after.

What a beautiful love story!

Both Travis and Loretta are starting over; he after a year of sobriety and she after the death of her singing partner. The executives pair them up together, but Loretta wants nothing to do with the irresponsible playboy of the tabloids. From this unlikely pairing, a tentative friendship gradually develops.

This book just flows like a sweet country song. The King family is going through some things, but they always put family first. I love the way the author makes these characters feel so authentic. I almost believe I could find their songs on the radio!

The chemistry between Loretta and Travis adds a delicious layer of tension, as does every interaction with the enigmatic Sawyer. Most of his secret is revealed, but there's still plenty of explaining to do so I hope he gets his own book soon.

The songwriting, the awards shows, the concerts, the behind-the-scenes -- every part of this book is written for the heart of a country music fan, and I couldn't have loved it more. Each book has its own HEA and builds on the family dynamics from one to the next. You don't want to miss this lyrical visit with the heartwarming King family. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
