Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers
3rd book in the Kings of Country series. Contemporary romance. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series. Slight cliffhanger for the series but this couple’s story is complete.
Loretta Gram has to listen to the record label if she wants to continue her singing career. That means pairing up with Travis King. Together they can make the music sing. But are either ready for the emotions that stir beyond the music?

An emotional story with a rollercoaster of highs and lows of self esteem, acceptance, support, and love.
A plethora of song lyrics (poems?) about love that document especially their longings for each other.
A couple of enemies that we can all hate. CC is a nasty, vindictive woman. Donnie is a free loader.
A bit of sexy to go with the suggestive lyrics.

Excerpt of Travis:
“One kiss. One kiss and he’d stop this. He tore his gaze from her mouth and groaned at the raw hunger on her face. Her eyes flashed as she gripped the front of his tuxedo jacket, pulling him in—impatient.
One kiss wouldn’t be enough. No matter how much he wanted her, he couldn’t do this. He reached up, smoothing the hair from her shoulder. “I want to kiss you.” Her smile almost changed his mind. “But if I kiss you now, you’ll always wonder if this was my angle the whole time. And I’ll wonder if this is what you wanted or if I took advantage of you, because tonight… Well, tonight has been an emotional roller-coaster ride.”

Excerpt of Loretta:
“Music was the thing that healed her—that soothed the stress and worry and pain from her heart. It was about creating something beautiful out of the dark. Finding strength in the notes and lyrics that would rise above the noise and chaos of everyday life. Together, they were building a safe harbor to shelter through the storm.”

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

*Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Sasha Summers , and Netgalley for giving me an E-ARC of "Country Music Cowboy in exchange for an honest review *

So I listen to a lot of country music, I watch all of the award shows, ect. But I've never read a romance about two country music singers, so this was a treat. I loved the chemistry between the characters (not to mention the cover is super pretty.).

I really really liked this one. This book was well written and Travis and Loretta had great chemistry. I could just feel their connection. Plus, who doesn't love cowboys and country music? I loved their romantic journey. The emotion was on point because it hit me in all the feels. This book was a perfect read for me. I highly recommend all the books in this series. Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.

Country Music Cowboy is the third book in the Kings of Country series by Sasha Summers. A steamy cowboy romance with characters you are sure to fall in love with. There is a long list of characters, but each plays a role in the story, and a few have big personalities. I was pulled in from the beginning and could not put this one down.

Travis King is headed for a rebranding, which has him teaming up with the frosty Loretta Gram at the forthcoming International Music Awards. But this is no mere pairing, he is meant to sing a tribute to Loretta’s best friend, whose loss is a blow to the whole industry. And it’s where enemies begin a very twisty, heart-wrenching path to lovers. Richly layered characters immersed in this limelight amplifies the high stakes and the equally high angst…which makes this hard-earned HEA all the more gratifying. Summers shines once again with the third installment of her Kings of Country series. And readers are sure to binge this legacy family, as well as those fans looking for bookish companions to shows like TNT’s ‘Dallas’ reboot and ABC/CMT’s ‘Nashville’

An angst filled heartfelt love story.
This one felt different from the other books in the series but I enjoyed it nevertheless. This was an angst feast which was right up my alley. The characters had a lot chemistry and I couldn’t wait for them to get together.
I think the length and pacing was perfect.
If you’ve watched Nashville you’ll love this.

This is book 3 in the Kings of Country series (I'm going to have to check out the first two now), but this can be read as a stand alone! This book is perfect for anyone who loves an enemies to lovers trope AND some behind the scene glimpses into country music. It was AMAZING! I flew through this book! A standing ovation for this one!

Travis King is the son of big time country music star, Hank King. Travis King has a dark history of drinking and partying that led to an an event that everyone is talking about. Now fully recovered from rehab, Travis' record label is working on image rebranding and their pair him up with country music's rising star Loretta Gram.

Loretta Gram is still grieving the death of her duo partner and she can't stand Travis King. She's cold as ice to Travis as she's dealing with her own dark and twisted past.

Can Travis overcome his playboy drinking image? Can Loretta overcome her past? Will the two be able to make their new country music duo work?

What a totally engaging book from new to me author Sasha Summers. "Country Music Cowboy" is a captivating read right from the beginning. The two primary characters are popular country music singers with tremendous talent. Loretta Gram was recently part of a dynamic duo, and now she is hoping to go solo or find a new musical connection. Travis King is one third of a trio with his twin sisters, and his dad is a country music legend. Loretta and Travis share an amazing chemistry when they perform together, which slowly evolves into much more after the performance ends.

I liked this book, although I wish it had a little more romance. Loretta and Travis were easy to get to know and the secondary characters were very interesting. The highs and lows of the country music industry was entertaining, as well as eye-opening. With the exception of Travis's manipulating mother, the way the King family cared for each other was inspiring. This is the fifth book from the Kings of Country series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I can't wait to read Sawyer's story, (Travis's bodyguard).

Country Music Cowboy is another great book from Sasha Summers. She has a wonderful way of creating interesting characters you can connect with. They are flawed but experience growth and find their HEA.

Travis is being required by his record label to clean up his image, and that includes working/singing with Loretta. She is still heartbroken from the death of her original partner and doesn't particularly like Travis in the beginning. I liked how their relationship and views of each other evolved as they worked and spent time together.

I like Sasha's writing and storytelling styles. The plot is nicely paced and I was invested in the story and characters. It was nice to see characters from earlier in the series and the behind the scenes music process too!

You know, I don’t know why I picked up Country Music Cowboy for review. I’ve never read Sasha Summers before. I’m not a country music fan, and I tend not to like stories with characters that are famous. And I’m pretty sure that I hadn’t seen the cover either. But for all of that, I’m so glad that I took a chance.

Country Music Cowboy is the third book in a series that revolves around the King siblings. Travis’s sisters find their happily ever after in the first two books, and now it’s Travis’s turn. The King family are country music royalty, and Travis is the bad boy, recently having had a stint in a rehab facility for alcohol abuse. And now he’s trying to prove to everyone that he’s turned over a new leaf.

Then there is Loretta. She was half of a rising country music duo, and then after the sudden death of her partner, she’s just lost. Then her record label wants her to do a duet with Travis, and he’s just a reminder of how alcohol has affected her life, and she simply doesn’t want to have anything to do with him. But there’s a spark and more to Travis than meets the eye, and well, the romance begins.

These two characters really worked well together. I loved how much they both grew as individuals but also as a couple. Both characters had issues they had to deal with before they could be a couple. I appreciated the slow burn of the romance as it kept me turning the pages.

I genuinely enjoyed the road Country Music Cowboy traveled. It was an emotional journey with a wonderful plot and character development. I really need to read the previous books in the series, and I can almost guarantee this won’t be the last book I read by Sasha Summers.

4.5 stars

As the third book of a series, I did not expect the layers to the characters to go so deep. Travis has been in the past two books, but his personality was just skimmed. I enjoyed getting to know him. Loretta is not having an easy time, losing her singing partner and then being paired to sing with Travis King. Travis is not who she sees on the surface and boy can he write a song. I liked how the King family embraced the struggling Loretta, and she softens to them. Will Travis and Loretta free their demons? Eventually living again and loving themselves going forward. This book will tug at your country lovin' heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

4 1/2 Stars for this heart-wrenching story.

This is the first book that I have read by this author ... and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed this emotional story from behind the scenes of country music royalty.

When Loretta's signing partner dies, her record label pairs her with Travis King ... from country music dynasty, the King Family. She's heard the stories about Travis, a drunken playboy who has a temper. Loretta has dealt with enough drunks her life ... her mother, her father and her former singing partner. She's not doing it again! Travis has been sober for over a year and his family is still walking on eggshells around him. He's just a back-up siinger ... what makes the record label think he can be half of a duo ... especially with a songbird like Loretta Gram.

This story had so many twists and turns and I loved every one of them. I felt so sorry for Loretta ... she was dealt a really bad hand in life, but she is strong and will make her way through it. And Travis was a broken sole trying to live up to the family name and feeling like all he does is fail. My heart broke for these two and they are so perfect for eac other. Even though I didn't read the two previous books in the series, I had no trouble followig the story ... but that said, I will be going back and reading them. My only throught is ... is Sawyer going to get a book?

“Country Music Cowboy” was my first book by Sasha Summers and it was a delight! I felt a little bit out of the loop since this was book 3 in the series, but I hope that there’s going to be another one (wink, wink).

In this book we have hero Travis King, who’s become a liability to his record label because of addiction issues, but has been making an effort to stay sober and become a role model to his family, fans and most importantly himself.

Then we have Loretta, our heroine, who was part of a country duo, but her partner in the duo has passed away and this partner had also been in rehab with Travis, which instantly creates conflict when Loretta and Travis are paired together for an awards show.

I thought that Loretta, once you learned more of her past other than her music partner passing away, the aversion she had to people with addiction made sense. It did take a while to get to that point.

I really loved the loving relationship that Travis had with both his sisters and father and even though his mom was supremely catty, he did what was best for him and his family (and Loretta) whenever possible when dealing with his mom. I am so interested in all the reasons that his mom is this way and I’m looking forward to reading more about the other books.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC so that I could give an honest review.

I loved my time with this book. It was the perfect mix of sweet, heartfelt and angsty romance set to a background of country music. Sasha did a perfect job with Travis and his alcoholism which was handled so well and we were shown how much he wants to sober especially with Loretta. Loretta was also a fantastic main character and I sympathised with her so much, I just wanna give her a hug. Travis and Loretta were perfect for each other. I am definitely preordering this book and buying more of Sashas books as well. Thank you for this ARC, without I would never have heard of Sasha Summers and Travis and Loretta.

Thank you NetGalley, Sasha Summers and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for the ARC of Country Music Cowboy. This is my personal review.
I saw the cover and the title, and I knew I wanted to read this book.
This was a fantastic story, and it is part of a series, but I have not read any of the others in the series. Each can be read as a standalone.
Loretta and Travis are two singers who I would love to meet. There is a such a click between them, and the chemistry is amazing. Each page I read made me anxious to see what happens on the next page.

I wasn’t sure what to think about this book, once I moved on from the tension between Travis and Loretta, I immersed myself into the emotions of the book!
The storyline and characters flow along nicely and are so warm and inviting, I couldn’t wait for Travis and Loretta to get together! This is a great read and I recommend it to anyone wanting a ‘rise from the ashes’ story!
As a stand-alone or reading the book as a part of the series, Sasha Summers has a great writing style, well done!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I adore this series and these siblings. I was super excited for Travis's story. I wasn't sure whom would be a great partner for Travis and how they would fit into the world of the King's, but Loretta was perfect for him and the family.

I was hoping maybe Cici would be humanized but nope she's still a monster. Sasha does such a great job writing that my reaction to Cici is so visceral. When I can have that reaction I know that is from the writing.

I love how all the siblings stories interact with each other. Their bond is great. I was sad that the stress and insecurities of Travis got the best of him and he turned to the bottle but I am happy he found his way out of that.

I also like the look into the music industry and all the behind the scenes details. Sure it is fiction but it does give you a feel of what it would be like.

The back story of Sawyer is killing me and I can't wait for his story and all the puzzle pieces to fall into place while at the same time hopefully Hank finds his own piece of happiness and away from the toxicity of his wife. Fingers crossed.

Can't wait for more from this author and this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this country music romance between two singers who both carry a lot of past baggage that needs some resolution before they are able to commit to each other. Travis King and Loretta Gram are appealing main characters with real problems despite the success each has separately achieved, and when they are teamed together, the outcome is highly questionable. But their chemistry is undeniable, both on professional and personal levels, although admitting to it will take awhile. Part of a series featuring the King country music family, this can be read as a stand-alone (but readers will probably want to fill in the gaps!). Recommended.

Sometimes you stumble across a book on NetGalley, not knowing what you’re going to get when you start and then suddenly you’re crying and feeling all the feels and falling in love with characters you’ve never met before and adding previous books in the series to your TBR and your Kindle because you just need more!

That’s how I felt while reading Country Music Cowboy by Sasha Summers. And I have absolutely no regrets.

While part of a series following the King siblings, each book can be read as standalones. It would be best to meet the siblings in order so you can understand their respective relationships before you meet them in the next books, but if you’re like me, then you’re okay knowing who ends up with who and then go back and start from the beginning.

The Three Kings are famous in the country music scene, led by twins Emmy Lou and Krystal and backed by their older brother Travis. While the twins are famous for their heart wrenching and foot stomping music, Travis is famous for a whole other reason. A drinking and drug problem led Travis to a bar fight which was captured on camera and put on every website, television screen and social media imaginable. After three weeks in a rehab centre, he’s back in the real world and he’s ready to change his life and the way his name is mentioned in the business. Loretta Gram was one half of a country music favourite duo – LoveJoy. But when her singing partner and best friend dies from a drug overdose, she finds herself struggling to make it through every single day.

But when her label connects her with the King family and insists that Loretta and Travis sing a duet on stage at an award show during the “In Memoriam” segment, things take a turn for the worse. Loretta isn’t ready to sing with someone new, but she has no way out of it. And after everything she knows about Travis, the last person Loretta wants to perform with is the man himself. However, their duet on stage gets the attention of everyone all around the world and the label decides to make money off of them by turning them into a proper duo. Which pisses Loretta off to no end, and makes the whole thing far too entertaining.

While it’s an enemies-to-lovers romance, the enemies bit really only comes from Loretta since she’s got her opinions of Travis locked in place. Travis is drawn to her like a moth to a flame and he’s barely containing himself when they’re together. And because they have no choice but to spend all of their time together, the two of them have to air their grievances and sort through their personal issues in order to make this duo work. And boy, do they do that or what!

“One night is what you offered, I said yes, of course. But let’s make that forever, just me loving you. Rules are meant to be broken. I’ll break them all for you.”

The chemistry between Loretta and Travis is incredible, they want each other, but they won’t do anything about it. There’s a lot of pushing and pulling and the sexual tension is SO HOT. I felt like I would combust reading about them not acting on all the things they feel and all the things they want. And Travis is as swoony as all get out, so I commend Loretta for standing her ground and not giving in to what her body clearly wants. And finally, they take a chance on their feelings and promise each other one night. And it’s a sleepless night. It’s an open-door romance, but it’s not explicit, so you get to enjoy all the things about an open-door romance, without too much detail. And honestly, it works because these two are so great together.

One of my favourite parts of the story was the lyrics. Oh my god, Travis writes some beautiful music and his lyrics are always so raw and honest. This is where his swoony persona comes in, because he wears his heart on his sleeve and writes it into all of his lyrics. We get a lot of behind the scenes into the country music scene, but the scene where they’re writing lyrics and creating music together is absolutely beautiful. Another thing I absolutely adored about the story was the relationship between the King family – including Emmy Lou and Krystal’s beaus. Their banter, their relationships and their love for each other is so evident. I love that the sisters don’t hold back when it comes to interfering in Travis’ life or his secret romance with Loretta.

Country Music Cowboy is a story of letting yourself go, giving yourself a chance to feel again, falling in love with yourself and someone else, second chances and of course, music. Also, if you like swoony cowboys who can write gorgeous lyrics and woo you without trying hard, this is the book for you.

You will love Loretta and Travis!

Loretta Gram was devastated by the death of her singing partner and being told by the record company that she needs to sing with Travis King at an industry award show and the upcoming Three Kings tour to continue her contract with Wheelhouse Records. Travis needed an image overhaul after going to rehab \ so singing with Loretta during the next tour with his sisters might be what they both need.

I loved Country Music Cowboy because it reminded me so much of all the songs that I heard on the radio growing up on a small ranch and the stories that they told in music about love and loss.

P.S. I’m hoping Sawyer has a book!
