Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review Rogue Wolf by Paige Tyler.

Rogue Wolf is the 12th title in the Swat: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. Trey and Samantha are our main characters in this story. Where there is danger there is an Alpha Wolf to save the day. If you want a book that's a fast read and entertaining then this is the book for you. I would recommend reading the other books in the series.

LOL, here I am as per usual, starting an established series at book 12...

(But I started the spin-off series at #2! Can I get credit for that?

Also an aside: worked fine as a standalone, though we see just enough of other characters and hints at some backstories to make me add all of the ones that weren't already on my TBR to it)

Rogue Wolf was a great end-of-summer-weekend, don't-want-to-put-it-down kind of read. The characters were fun (Samantha's internal dialogue was especially hilarious at times) and easy to root for, even while you are gritting your teeth and telling them just tell him/her [their secret(s)] already! The action was edge of your seat, and so was the suspense--I literally didn't want to put this down at times. What was actually going on was waaaaaaay out there (even for a series featuring werewolves!) but OMG still gripping, and the (new? I think? I did a quick online search and didn't find anything) creature Ms Tyler had out there terrorizing humanity was truly terrifying.

All in all, this was one heck of a read! I can't wait to go back and read the backlist to see Samantha and Trey in the "before" times (and all the other couples find their HEAs, of course! ;))

Rating: 4 stars / A-

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Do you like 2008 Wattpad werewolf stories, mixed with *checks notes* Frankenstein, then boy do I have the book for you.

I really wanted to like this one because the heroine is my namesake and the whole we have been flirting for two years when are we finally going to do something about it plotline could have been so cute.

But instead we get Sam who thought it was a great idea to date Trey, despite having an entire serial killer room on him in her apartment. Her moral compass is completely out of whack. And despite the whole soul mate thing, Trey should have some more respect for himself, and not fallen in love with the woman who was using him. What a horrible relationship.

This story read more like a horror then a romance. And the flirting was so awkward and embarrassing, and when did they even fall in love? They just went from nothing to all in.

The plot was complex with lots of twists and turns and the stakes were high. The significant amount of danger and action kept me fully engaged and made this a true page turner for me. The author uses a unique take on werewolves and does a good job of explaining this. I love Paige Tyler's writing style.

I have loved the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series, and in my opinion, it’s only gotten better over the years in this world. Rogue Wolf is a perfect example of what I mean. Trey and Samantha are so right for each other, they fit, and they blend together in a way that put me in their corner from the very start. I loved the way that Samantha called Trey out on his favor by asking for a dinner date – at least one of them is starting to make a move toward what they both want… each other.

Samantha is a very strong woman, stubborn at times, but she’s also compassionate, realistic, and perfect for one man who is hiding in plain sight. Trey is an Alpha wolf, yes, but he’s also unafraid to show his doubts, to second guess himself, and even to put off declaring his attraction to Samantha for far too long because of those doubts. He’s fierce in battle, but a gentle wolf with his woman. It might have taken him a bit to realize that Samantha was his “one”, but he’s not about to let her go either.

They each have secrets, things that they will need to expose to the light and trust that who they are in spite of those secrets will be accepted and loved. Plus, there are some nasty villains around who neither has dealt with before and lives will be on the line as situations intensify.

Rogue Wolf was everything I’d hoped for and more. The writing is smooth, the plot intricate and compelling, and the characters leap off of the page as believable in their given situations. We get a glimpse of what may come in new stories and a few subtle hints that have me wishing for the next book right now. There are unseen twists, a few turns, a great supporting cast, and a couple that deserves their happy ending. Steamy moments, laughter, tensions, secrets, and danger – everything I expect from this series. If you haven’t been introduced to this world then I’d highly recommend that you get started. Could you read Rogue Wolf on its own? You could, but then you’d also miss the history of some of the characters you’ll run into. If you can, then I say to start from the beginning – but if you cannot, then enjoy Trey and Samantha, I’m pretty sure you’ll want to go back for the rest once you’ve entered their world.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The SWAT wolves are back in a big way and I can honestly say that this series just gets better and better. Paige Tyler has a wicked way with her wolves and her skill with bringing in surprises and weaving plots is nothing short of demonic. I have followed this series from the very beginning and watched each of these wolves find love in a world that would certainly persecute them if they were ever discovered, despite the fact they put their lives in the line of fire over and over again to keep our lives safe. I have been dying for Trey and Samantha’s book since they first clapped eyes on one another and we saw the connection begin to blossom between them, because everyone around them knew that they were obviously going to be meant for one another. Trey has a lot of issues in his past, but the enticing and alluring Samantha Mills is the one thing he wants more than anything, but he can’t seem to untie his tongue and get his paw out of his mouth around her. Samantha knows there is something special about the Dallas SWAT team and she isn’t above using her position as medical examiner to figure out the mystery, but when Trey finally works up the nerve and asks her out the connection between them and the depth of it surprises Samantha. Samantha is torn between protecting the secret of the man she is quickly falling for and doing what she feels is her duty, until the truly dangerous enemies after them make the choice for her. With a serial killer on the loose and something stalking the citizens of Dallas, SWAT is the only thing standing between evil and the innocent and Samantha will do everything in her power to help, even if it puts her right into the line of fire. Samantha was a strong and sassy female lead and I loved watching her come to terms with the fact that some things are more important than learning facts. As she fell in love with Trey, her compassion and kindness are exactly what he needs to work through his problems. Trey was not your typical Alpha wolf, instead being a bit shy with Samantha and not nearly as confident as many of his fellow wolves, he also has serious PTSD that comes through in sad and heartbreaking moments as they begin their relationship. I loved the passion between these two, the slow burn and the way the trust has to build between them before they can really build the connection they need. This story went to some very surprising and intriguing directions including pulling in characters from the STAT story line which often parallels this one and I loved that crossover. Tyler manages to keep not only her stories but her characters and their individual connections fresh with each new addition to this series and I cannot wait for the next bit of magic.

Rogue Wolf (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #12). By Paige Tyler. 2021. Sourcebooks Casablanca (ARC eBook).

A serial killer’s brutal violence brings Trey Duncan and his fellow wolf-shifting SWAT members in on the investigation, as it is clear that their strength and knowledge about the supernatural will be needed to stop The Butcher; while also protecting the existence of the supernatural from the humans also involved in the investigation. This includes medical examiner Samantha Mills who has been curious and suspicious of Trey and his teammates for a couple of years and has the chance to get closer to the truth. Overall, Rogue Wolf has good pacing and blend of action, gore and romance. I liked it better than the previous book, so I do look forward to continuing the series.

Busting the baddies keeps the Dallas police S.W.A.T. team on their toes. Lately, a certain medical examiner has gotten all-too curious and called in one of the teams favors for a date with Trey meanwhile a bizarre serial killer case has tumbled into their laps. Paranormal Romance meets horror classic in this latest of the Special Wolf Alpha Team series.

Rogue Wolf is book 12 of a series that is optimally read in order, but could be grabbed separately in a pinch.

Medical Examiner, Samantha Mills, has been on Officer Trey Duncan's radar for some time, but unfortunately, he and the rest of the all-werewolf SWAT team has been rousing her curiosity as well. Their secret must be kept, but they still need to do their jobs under the noses of their boss, Samantha and everyone else. This gets harder whenever a case goes sideways into the supernatural realm. The serial killer they are tracking looks more and more like something that is beyond the ordinary human. The secret government organization who investigate this stuff has their hands full so leave the hunt to the werewolves. Trey splits his time between investigating and pursuing the attraction with the bright, gorgeous Samantha even while looking for the opportunity to discover if her interests are him or his werewolf secret.

Samantha knows her research curiosity into the anomalies surrounding the SWAT team cases has gone way past stalker since she has a whole room in her apartment dedicated to her secret investigation into the team. But, asking out one of the team to call in her favor to pump Trey for information has her guilt meter reacting, though not enough to stop her. Alongside her insatiable curiosity is an electrifying attraction to the man and her priorities are definitely shifting. Just when she realizes what is the most important thing, her work on the case takes her into a nightmarish situation no one saw coming.

Rogue Wolf was another fab entry in the series. I loved Trey and the suspense side was riveting. Samantha was not an early sell for me. It wasn't until much later that I could cautiously decide I could root for her. Being curious was one thing, but using a guy was quite another especially since the 'anomalies' she was investigating in Trey and the other SWAT members were all for good reasons and did no harm. She had no reason to lie and use Trey and she went way over the line with one of her stunts.

Because of that issue of secrets, the romance took a while for me to get into it. Aside from the secrets, this pair was a perfect fit and the author wrote some lovely date scenes and the couple having good conversation. The burn of attraction built and they scratched that itch fairly early though not absurdly so. I would have wished for them to have all secrets out on the table before they went there and slid into an early relationship, but I wasn't utterly disappointed for them to get together when they did.

The police investigation was of a serial killer who soon proved to be some sort of supernatural. In fact, they ended up having two cases to investigate. I spotted one of the villains fairly early for no other reason than that the person gave me a bad vibe even though they hadn't done anything. Later there were some surprising twists and a few cool reveals to lead up to an explosive climax scene that was satisfyingly action-packed.

The book ends Trey and Samantha's story satisfactorily and leaves things on an ominous note for another team and their investigation that was taking place parallel to the events of this book in another location. Can't wait to see what is up with that situation.

All in all, this was easy-read, exciting and sexy. Those who enjoy their paranormal romance with a strong dose of suspense should definitely give this series a go.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing an eARC to be read in exchange for an honest review.

The chemistry between Trey and Samantha is great. This book had me wondering where it was going and who could possibly be involved. Great addition to the series.

I received an arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book was very good. I was not as big a fan of Samantha as I thought she was rather 1 dimensional but the side characters have some decent development and I love the swat werewolves.

After 10 months, finally another yummie SWAT story. This one is about Trey, who has had a crush on the medical examiner Sabrina for two years now. But although his pack mates like to give him a hard time, because he is hesitant to ask her out, he still has doubts. Because what if Sabrina turns him down?

When Samantha basically asks him out, their romance is off to a fine start. But strange murders keep interrupting their love life. As usual, Paige has created an action filled story, full of twists and unexpected turns. Since her STAT-series, however, her stories tend to incorporate more of the different supernatural beings into the stories. . Trey is a wonderful guy and Sabrina is a feisty woman. For two years, she has been looking into strange cases, where the SWAT team was involved She knows for sure that they are hiding a secret. But although she wants to find out the truth, she can’t help but feel attracted to Trey. Is uncovering his secret more important than her love life?

A lot of team members make an appearance in this action packed story. So, although you can read this one as a standalone, it is best for the whole experience to read both the SWAT & STAT-series. That is definitely no hardship.

Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

It seems that Tyler has found the groove again. This is the 12th in the series and with all the books Tyler has written in the genre I felt it was getting a bit stale but Tyler has really gotten back into the swing of her writing.

Trey and Samantha have had feelings for each other for a while and finally get the chance to admit their feelings but man does this book go at high speeds stopping everything but the twist and turns. I am not sure there isn’t a little bit of everything in this book. It is a great book to get your head out of real life.

I enjoyed Trey and Samantha together. I enjoyed seeing the past characters and look forward to reading more in the series.

Finally, Trey and Samantha's story! As a follower of the series since its beginning, I can't tell you how excited I was to learn that Trey would finally have his own book. Throughout the series I have gotten to know Trey and was looking forward to him finally having his own book, especially since he's been crushing on Samantha most of the time I've known him. When Trey and Samantha finally decide to go out on their first date it seems like everything is running along perfectly. Trey is drawn to Samantha and keeps wondering if she's THE ONE for him and Samantha definitely looks interested. However, Samantha is conflicted. Although attracted to Trey, she can't put aside her curiosity about the secret the Dallas SWAT team is hiding. With each moment spent with Trey she struggles with her feelings for him and what he will think once her secret comes out. There were moments where I wanted to shake some sense into the girl and questioned her loyalty, but in the end she redeemed herself and all was good.

I enjoyed Samantha and Trey's story. Although their connection was slow to develop, the author made sure that in the end their connection was fully established. Through flirty banter, candid conversations and steamy moments, Trey and Samantha's romance became more viable. It helped a lot that the author put them in situations that allowed them the chance to come clean about their intentions, the secrets they were keeping and what they were feeling. It also helped that the author did a lot of showing and very little telling when it came to Trey and Samantha's blossoming romance.

Another aspect the author decided to bring to the page to the fullest was the suspense and intrigue mixed throughout the story. Although I was able to figure out the key players behind the killings as soon as the first clue was given, the whole serial killer vibe had me engaged and anticipating what was to come. But knowing who was behind it didn't lessen my surprise when I learned how it was being done. Well played, Paige Tyler. Well played, indeed. That was some screwed up stuff right there.

As always, I enjoyed visiting with the SWAT team members and getting an update of some of my favorites. This series continues to intrigue me and I can't wait to see whose story is coming up next.

All in all, a fantastic addition to the series and a fun, action-packed, thrilling ride.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I just love this series and am always looking for the next book in the series!

Trey has been dancing around his attraction to Samantha the M.E. and finally she asks him out and then they are finally admitting their attraction.

They both have secrets and you wonder if they can overcome the secrets that they are keeping from each other.

The book is filled with their sizzling attraction, romance, drama, and lots and lots of action. As they try to figure out who is killing people and it looks like there are two different killers out there, the pack has their hands full.

Parts were sad, parts were kind of horrifying, and then there were the parts that just make you feel good. There was a great HEA and a good way to help out a friend which I did not seeing coming but made perfect sense and then a bit of a mystery when one couple goes missing. So, looking forward to that next book!!

Rogue Wolf is the twelfth installment in Paige Tyler’s SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) series. Just like all of the rest, it doesn’t disappoint. Inexplicably, regardless of all of the books in this series, it has not gotten old. Another new Supernatural being has been unleashed and another werewolf finds The One. If you have no idea what that means, you have to read the entire series to really appreciate it.

This time we follow SWAT member Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills. Trey and Samantha have been dancing around each other for the past few years. An investigation into some very strange murders forces them to work closer together and finally act upon their attraction which leads to a steamy night in bed and an intense bond that comes from being each other’s soul mate. In regards to the murders, they clearly are related to something supernatural that SWAT has yet to encounter. This also brings in characters from Paige’s other series called STAT (Special Threat Assessment Team) whose sole focus is on things that go bump in the night. I love a good crossover and this just elevates the book to the next level. Of course, the real fun lies in the fact that Samantha doesn’t know Trey’s secret although she has been secretly investigating the mystery behind his SWAT team for a while.

What else could I ask for in a series? SWAT is fun, exciting, and full of action in and out of the sheets. Trey and Samantha have great chemistry and this new supernatural twist has a Frankenstein sort of bite to it. That’s about all that I can say without giving it all away. All in all, I am looking forward to the next book in the series which I hope involves an almost human-cat named Kat.

A werewolf SWAT member hero and a human medical examiner heroine with lots of cute flirtation and an action-packed story? Yes, please! I was immediately hooked by Rogue Wolf's premise and couldn't get enough.

Paige Tyler is a new-to-me author that I am absolutely going to pick up again; and despite not having any previous knowledge of this series, I found it so easy to follow along and became completely engaged in the characters lives and the mystery of the serial killer on the loose.

There was a level of nostalgia and comfort in this book that I find hard to explain but I felt nevertheless. It's a book and a series that I would very easily pick up again and again.

The hero, Trey, is the perfect blend of alpha male and cinnamon roll. He's so ridiculously sweet but also can be tough and take charge when he needs to. The heroine, Samantha, was a smart cookie and could hold her own when it comes to flirting with a certain cute, secret werewolf, or extracting info from the baddie. And the overall story? Crazy -- in a very entertaining way!

There is a lot going on in this fictional world that I wasn't expecting (possibly because it's the twelfth book in the series and the first book I've read) but I look forward to going back to the beginning of the series and working my way through the rest! Personally, I think Rogue Wolf can be read as a standalone as I don't feel like I missed anything too important by starting later in the series and all of the necessary side characters and information is explained well. But I am actually excited to go back to book one and meet all the side characters in order!
