Was I hooked by that book? Yes. The drool-worthy SWAT team is back, and the enemy is something out of a horror story. Compelling action, tempered by a sweet, blossoming romance.

Ah, the hunky SWAT werewolves are back with Trey and medical examiner, Samantha, as the focus. They have been dancing around their attraction for each other for a couple of years now and Samantha finally took the bull by the horns. But their courtship is troubled by new and unexpected enemies.

As usual, I really enjoyed this book just as much as all its predecessors. The plot flowed along nicely and towards the end the action picked up pace along with my heartbeat. Parts of it were a bit surreal, it wasn't just our heroes who were caught off guard with this one. And Trey and Samantha were this sweet, almost naïve, calm oasis of hope in between all the death and gore.

I can recommend this entire series to readers of paranormal romance. Plenty of steamy romance, werewolves, and suspense. It's not strictly necessary to read them in order, but I think it'll make more sense if you do.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book 12 in the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) series and it could be my new favorite. I absolutely loved the story between Trey and Samantha. As there often is, there was an instant attraction between SWAT werewolf Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills, but Trey was too shy to ask her out. So, when Trey owes her a favor, she cashes it in for a date. Unfortunately, Samantha's scientific mind knows there is something off with the SWAT boys and she is trying to figure it our while still trying to have a relationship with Trey. There is plenty of intrigue and action that keeps the reader entertained. This is an action packed novel that readers will enjoy.

I was provided an ARC of this book by NetGalley for an honest review, but loved it so much I bought a copy for my private collection.

Rogue Wolf was okay. I think Ms. Tyler can do better (as she has), but this novel was fine. I thought there was a lack of real connection between the main characters, as their bonding seemed to be more spoken about than shown. Though I liked both Trey and Samantha, I never felt like I knew them and the romance itself took a backseat during the last 40% or so of the story. The mystery/suspense element was interesting but it did overshadow the romance.
I'll say that Rogue Wolf made me really want to read Frankenstein and that was actually a big plus.

3 stars.

Finally, Trey and Samantha's story! As a follower of the series since its beginning, I can't tell you how excited I was to learn that Trey would finally have his own book. Throughout the series I have gotten to know Trey and was looking forward to him finally having his own book, especially since he's been crushing on Samantha most of the time I've known him. When Trey and Samantha finally decide to go out on their first date it seems like everything is running along perfectly. Trey is drawn to Samantha and keeps wondering if she's THE ONE for him and Samantha definitely looks interested. However, Samantha is conflicted. Although attracted to Trey, she can't put aside her curiosity about the secret the Dallas SWAT team is hiding. With each moment spent with Trey she struggles with her feelings for him and what he will think once her secret comes out. There were moments where I wanted to shake some sense into the girl and questioned her loyalty, but in the end she redeemed herselfcand all was good. 😃

I enjoyed Samantha and Trey's story. Although their connection was slow to develop, the author made sure that in the end their connection was fully established. Through flirty banter, candid conversations and steamy moments, Trey and Samantha's romance became more viable. It helped a lot that the author put them in situations that allowed them the chance to come clean about their intensions, the secrets they were keeping and what they were feeling. It also helped that the author did a lot of showing and very little telling when it came to Trey and Samantha's blossoming romance.

Another aspect the author decided to bring to the page to the fullest was the suspense and intrigue mixed throughout the story. Although I was able to figure out the key players behind the killings as soon as the first clue was given, the whole serial killer vibe had me engaged and anticipating what was to come. But knowing who was behind it didn't lessen my surprise when I learned how it was being done. Well played, Paige Tyler. Well played, indeed. That was some screwed up stuff right there.

As always, I enjoyed visiting with the SWAT team members and getting an update of some of my favorites. This series continues to intrigue me and I can't wait to see whose story is coming up next.

All in all, a fantastic addition to the series and a fun, action-packed, thrilling ride.

Fans of Ms. Tyler's SWAT series will not be disappointed in ROGUE WOLF as it is filled with action, emotional moments, a sweet and steamy romance, the camaraderie we have come to expect with the "pack", and, of course, the shirtless volleyball at the barbecues that are so entertaining.

Rogue Wolf by Paige Tyler
SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) series book 12. Paranormal wolf shifter romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone but better as part of the series.
Medical Examiner Samantha Mills has suspected there is more to the Dallas SWAT than just being good at their jobs. Their claims of coyotes and other strange coincidences don’t add up. SWAT member Trey Duncan knows he needs to keep his werewolf self hidden from Samantha, but what if she is his soul mate? The One?

A rollicking adventure from start to finish. Plenty of humor in the beginning leads to peril and a fight to survive a mad man. Parts are touching. Much is riveting. The full is a romping good paranormal romance. Heat mid level.
A bit of a cliffhanger leading to the next series, but Samantha and Trey’s story is complete with a couple of nice humanitarian touches thrown in.
I love this SWAT series and can’t wait for the next in the series.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.

Excerpts to introduce Samantha and Trey:
“Dude, she deals with dead bodies every day, so you’re going to need to come up with another excuse. You’re a werewolf, not a werechicken. Just ask her to go out to dinner. What’s the worst that could happen?”

Excerpt:
“Trey gave her a smile, flashing the most perfect dimples. “We’re hoping you might be able to tell us a little about the case.”
Samantha had to fight the urge to return his smile. D[…], when Trey put on the charm, it was scary how badly she wanted to walk over there, climb him like a sloth, and start coming up with names for their future children. But she fought off the desire. Besides, she didn’t need to think about names. She had all four of them picked out a few days after meeting the hunky cop. No, she needed to play this cool and use the situation to get what she wanted.”

I love the new addition to this amazing series! Trey & Samantha are a hoot together & I could not read their story fast enough. This book pulled all kinds of emotions from me. I was yelling at her to "stop it or don't do that". This was such a joy to read & I cannot wait until the next one!

We have been waiting for Trey and Samantha's story for a while, and it did not disappoint. Trey comes across as a more gentle Alpha then the other SWAT members in the previous books. While I would have liked him to be a little more PO'd at Samantha, (over some of her actions which I will not name) I also acknowledge there was just not the time for it. Trey and Sam were thrown into utter chaos just as they were finding out about each other. While I would have liked just a bit more volatility in their relationship, they did work well together..

The mystery/plot of the big bad - who was murdering men around the DFW area - was a crazy, insane ride. Never would I have figured out who and why. Well played Paige. The mid to end part of the story is just insane and not where I thought it was going. I really like that. Another of my favorite things was the interplay with Trey's pack. They are just wonderful together.

Receive from Sourcebooks and Netgalley. Thank you so much.

SWAT is never a disappointment. There’s lots of action, suspense, surprises, and a happily ever after. Mrs. Tyler delivers again.

Wow, Paige pulled out al the stops on this one! This turns out a twist on Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and wow did she pull it off well. If you've been following the series, Trey Duncan is the medic for the group and I've always wanted his story. He's matched up finally with Samantha Mills, the assistant ME that have been flirting with each other for several books. She is a fabulous foil for Tyler. Both are hiding secrets and are so evenly matched in every way in this story. He's always the protector and she gets obsessed with mysteries, which he has in spades. Then Ms. Tyler gave us two bad guy stories to track that made the book even more complex. They SWAT guys are trying to track a paranormal creature that leaves desiccated husks left and a serial killer who dismembers bodies. This could be horror story stuff but in Paige's capable hands is just fascinating, full of action and keeps the reader guessing. I have to say I never figured out who were the two bad guys in this story until the end. And I loved how Trey and Sam worked together with this story and finally came clean about their secrets.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is book 12 in the SWAT series and I would absolutely read these in order as most of these characters have been seen previously. Especially as the story for these two has been years in the making! SWAT werewolf Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills have been attracted to each since the two met, but Trey's never worked up the nerve to ask her out. So when Samantha says she wants to cash in the favor Trey owes her for a date, it seems like the perfect time to confess his true feelings. But the trouble with wolves is that they're never far from danger, and this time Trey is going up against a monster the likes of which his Dallas SWAT team has never seen. And now Samantha is going to be right in the thick of things with Trey and fully understand him and his team.

I have been wanting this story since the first time we saw Samantha and the way her and Trey act together. These two have this connection that you can't help but love. And while Trey is definitely Alpha and protective, Samantha also has this strength to her that I wasn't expecting. The bigger plot sucked me in and has a lot of twists and turns that I really wasn't expecting. But it kept me involved and sucked right into the story. I have loved this series from the start and this installment just reminded me of exactly why I loved it so much! Great characters along with great plots and beautiful stories! I didn't want it to end and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Rogue Wolf provides another installment the Dallas SWAT team getting his "one" with a well balanced mix of action, romance, humor and sweet as well as nicely paced plot that also includes an expanding supernatural world and surprises. While I had some issue w/ Samantha's early actions, the fact that she felt conflicted over them as well helped keep her in the likeable range. All in all another good installment in the series that left me wondering (and looking forward to) which of the guys heading out of town at the end of the book might be in for a story next.

Rogue Wolf
SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series - Book 12
By Paige Tyler

Sourcebooks Casablanca - August 2021

Paranormal Romance

A member of the Dallas SWAT werewolf pack, Trey Duncan was used to keeping secrets, But when it came to medical examiner Samantha Mills, Trey was doubly cautious. Not only did he believe Samantha suspected there was something unusual about him and his fellow SWAT pack members, but it was just possible that Samantha was The One for him. And that was something he didn't want to mess up. Of course, to mess things up he needed to take the first step and ask her out, but then Samantha made that decision for them.

Samantha had spent the last couple years tracking the SWAT team. But it wasn't only because there was something unusual about him, er them. Well yes, there was definitely an attraction she felt towards Trey in addition to her relentless curiosity to the unending unexplainable incidents they always seemed to be a part of.

Such as the current spate of murders. It appeared that a serial killer was at work leaving a string of mutilated bodies. Trey and Samantha had to work quickly and together to protect others, and possibly themselves.

Rogue Wolf was an intense action-packed romance. Trey and Samantha are a fun couple, each equally attracted and suspicious of the other. It was fun watching them try to navigate their relationship. There is an enjoyable cast of characters, a murder mystery, and a creepy twist that could give nightmares.

This is a story about SWAT warewolf Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills.

Burning between Trey and Samantha is a long-time fire that has never quite been extinguished. Just when you think the fire is going to die out though, a chance for Trey emerges and it looks like he’s finally mustered up the nerves to ask Samantha out.......

Overall this story was good........

Rogue Wolf in the twelfth book in Paige Tyler’s SWAT (SpecialWolf Alpha Team) series. This book is a romantic suspense novel filled with danger, intrigue, fantastic characters, and great chemistry. All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.

For two years, the attraction between Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) werewolf Trey Duncan and medical examiner Samantha Mills has grown. But just when both have taken the step forward to explore their connection tragedy, death and secrets surround them. Will their budding relationship withstand their secrets? Will Samantha and Trey survive the monsters coming for them? Read it and find out!

Finally! The chemistry between Trey and Samantha has been evident in the last few books of this great series and Rogue Wolf did not disappoint. The couple was fantastic together but at times I wanted to smack both of them. I just goes to show communication goes a long way! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Trey and Samantha were great together and I'd rank this SWAT book as one of my favorites in the series. The story was packed full of action and romance which made it hard to lay down. Several of the other characters captured my attention too. Will we hear more from Kyson and Shayla? Will Zane and Alyssa be okay and what's up with Connor and his cat? Paige Tyler really knows how to keep me coming back for more. A real winner for paranormal romance fans.

This was yet another great installment of the ongoing adventures of the Dallas Special Wolf Alpha team. Trey and Samantha were introduced in the previous book and it was obvious there was an attraction there, but they've both chosen not to act on it until Samantha gets involved in an apparent serial killer case. The SWAT team is not directly involved in the case, but they suspect paranormal activity so Trey leverages his relationship with Samantha to get additional details on the case.

Every succeeding book in this series ups the stakes regarding paranormal and extra normal activity and this installment is no exception. I never would have predicted the turn this book was going to take and I do want to note a CW/TW for level of violence and gore as they were pretty much at the edge of my tolerance limit. The action was explosive, and the villain was truly, deeply evil.

As always, though, the author does a good job of balancing out the violence with a sweet romance between Samantha and Trey. Both of them are initially hiding some pretty important secrets. He, of course, is hiding that he's a werewolf. She, meanwhile, has been semi-"stalking" the team for 2 yrs because she suspects that there is something quite unusual about them. I really enjoyed their romance, while the action plot kept me glued to my seat. Given how the action/paranormal stakes were raised in this book, I'm curious to see what the author comes up with next.

Talk about your slow burn Trey and Samantha have been dancing around each other for two years. Finally they get together in this action packed thrill ride. This is a combination of romantic suspense, scifi and crime thriller and I loved it! Trey may be a werewolf but he is as clueless as any guy when it comes down to the woman who is meant just for him. I read this in on sitting and enjoyed every page.

Page turner. Wow, Paige came up with an evil twist, but we understand where its coming from. The aftermath is horrific, and my heart hurt for them. The PTSD moment was sadly poignant and true in so many cases. Samantha is a strong female with her own secrets. Tyler was not in your face alpha as so many shifter stories are. You see him question, his doubts and it just makes you want him more. I am not sure whats going on with Conners cat there are so many ways Paige could take this. Hmm. Fast read, suspense, page turner, steamy romance, and heart wrenching scenes. Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca, Netgalley and Paige Tyler for a wonderful read. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. It wasn't randomly sent to me. I saw the author and description and asked to be considered as a reviewer.

This book is part of a series about shifters who work as police, feds, military, etc. It's a romantic suspense with characters who are gifted with the talents of their inner animals. Fated mates are part of this world, but it's written in a normal relationship way instead of the instalove that other authors like to use to pair off couples. They do stupid things and forgive each other for it much faster than anyone IRL would.

This book is a pleasant, one day read with mostly steady progress toward the two leads becoming a couple and the bad guys being defeated. There's really not a good save point to stop reading, so put the bookmark aside, put cherry blossom scent in your diffuser, and read until you reach the conclusion. Like most books in a lengthy series, there is a subplot brewing, but I'm embarrassed to say that I kinda forgot about those characters until another character brings it up at the end of the book. In all fairness, my distraction was largely due to something shifty the author is teasing about that is so obvious, I have to wonder if one character has head trauma not to see what's coming.
