I found this a gripping and quick read, with short chapters and a storyline that kept me gripped. The writing flowed well and was engaging, everything in a good book.
The twists towards the end really surprised me and whilst it’s not hugely realistic I loved it. Well written and keeps you guessing, I’ll definitely be on the look out for more by this author.
Awesome book

This one was so fun to read! I loved the ending and all the characters. The twist was awesome!

Not My Daughter has a few unique surpises in store for readers. There is a lot of information to sift through to figure out who is behind what and who is lying and who is truthful. One character really deceived me, but in a good way. Young teenagers follow a rocker around and he likes to scoop them up and pretend he's not married. Some of the plot is hard to believe, even in fiction. I liked Liberty and Skywalker the best and admired them even more at the end.

Okay this had all the potential to be better and in some ways it was a page turner and I was intrigued. But it could have been done a lot better it just wasn't believable a lot of pieces didn't flow right together definitely not something I really enjoyed and honestly I don't think I would recommend

Not My Daughter really draws you in right from the first page and keeps you enthralled the whole way through. It's really good. Been awhile since I started a book before bed and next thing you know I'm almost halfway finished. Didn't want to put it down!

Lorna has been keeping a secret from her 16 year old daughter Liberty, hiding the true identity of her famous father. A father who is controlling, manipulative, evil and also a famous rock star. She has sheltered Liberty from the truth of the life Lorna led before becoming a mother. Her life as a 16 year old groupie who thought she was in love with a 40 year old man. Liberty is determined to find her father and Lorna is determined to protect her from the evil that she knows lies beneath the charm. How evil? Well, you will just need to read it to see!

I was frankly unimpressed with this book. I made it about halfway through before I realized that all the characters were so dislikeable that I didn't care what was happening to any of them. It became a slog to try and read this book, and so I had to put it down. I know other people have liked it very much, so it might just be that this was not the book *for me* - I can't say.

Not the most original storyline, it's he said (Michael)/she said (Lorna) and Liberty is in the middle. However, it was good up until the middle of the story. Only Lorna's past perspective was told and then the present what was happening. The back and forth telling of each character is what gives doubt to the readers. However, it did play out too long and then the story went stale. From the middle, there was no progression to the storyline or the characters. The ending was predictable if you read the beginning very carefully. It was a good story but not great.

The premise of this book was good and it was definitely a page turner. But it was totally unbelievable. The characters were one dimensional and there is no way that any of this could ever even remotely happen. I just found myself rolling my eyes at Michael and Lorna the entire time. I had high hopes for this one based on the synopsis, but it fell short.

I loved how this was in two different timelines. I've always loved stories like that. It kept my interest the entire way through! This book gripped me from the first chapter. A few of the twists I saw coming but I'm sure that is from the sheer volume of psychological thrillers I digest. This would be great for a first-time thriller reader!

Liberty is sixteen years old and her mother, Lorna, is super strict. She can't go out and have fun with friends like a normal teenager. On top of all that, Lorna refuses to tell Liberty about her father, other than the fact that he is horrible. Liberty decides to find her father on her own, is he really the monster her mom says he is, or is her mom just crazy?

This was actually a really good book. It alternates between the past and present. It didn't keep me completely gripped, and I felt the ending was a bit unbelievable, but I still enjoyed the story. It was different from a lot of other domestic thrillers. I wish the author had focused just a bit more on Dee, she seemed to only be part of the story for convenience and nothing more, but she was so important to the plot.

Not My Daughter by Suzy K Quinn is a suspenseful thriller with a wonderful storyline that keeps you guessing from page one. The book opens with a dramatic scene of a teenage mother, Lorna, and her sister registering a home birth in an attempt to get a birth certificate. Right from the start you have questions that continue and keep on coming.

Lorna, as a teenage survivor of cancer gets taken advantage of by a much older rock star, Michael. Lorna can not believe that she was chosen by the famous Michael and quickly drops her whole life and soon her identity to follow him wherever he wants to go. This book is told in flashbacks in multiple voices providing fabulous dramatic interest as we learn more of Lorna, Michael and their daughter Liberty.

Liberty ignores the warnings of her mother in an attempt to learn more about Michael. At this point you are truly fearful for everyone involved. Michael appears to be a master manipulator, but perhaps he is truly the millionaire retired rockstar philanthropist that he appears to the world. Secrets are still being revealed and you are left wondering who you can trust.

All the characters have flaws and secrets which draws the reader even further. You can not help but try to figure out who to sympathize with and who is at fault. Trust me though, you will be shocked when it is not at all what it seems.

I was provided a free advance reader copy from Harper 360 HQ in exchange for my honest review on Net Galley. The opinions shared in this review are my own.

Liberty is bound and determined to know her father. Her mother has hidden her away from him for far too long.. he can't really be the horrible person her mother claims he is.
A thriller of a thriller! I couldn't put it down, read it all the way through in one reading.
Phenomenal story!

Some spoilers below!

This book was not what I was expecting at all, but in a good way.

In the beginning, I was a little frustrated because I felt like I didn't get very much from the characters. Why should I care about these people when I have no attachment to them? That soon changed a few chapters in. I loved the format of having the story told throughout from a different point of view. Lorna both past and present and Liberty in the present. It gave us an insight into what everyone was thinking and feeling at different points without interrupting the story.

I would have liked to have had more information about after Lorna left Michael. How did she survive as a teenage abuse victim with a newborn baby? How could she afford it? Where did they live? How did she end up in the house she did? How did she make the decision to live so close by? Did she ever get any help from a therapist? When did she get to the point where she wanted to change her appearance? etc etc. This didn't affect the story in a huge way but rather just made me want to know more. But to me, this is the sign of good storytelling because I was looking to know even more. I would actually love a prequel with just this story.

There are some very dark subject matters covered here but I think she did it very well. It wasn't sensationalised. From the minute Lorna got on the tour bus as a teenage vulnerable girl I felt on edge until she left the castle. We get to see the morphing of her mind and the manipulation but she can't see this yet.

The twist towards the end of the book was great. I was beginning to get super angry with Liberty for how she treated her mother at the castle but to know she had actually been planning this for two years was amazing. Although we see that she obviously inherited the lies and manipulation side of her from her father, she was using it for good. I would have liked however to have seen Michael get more of a public downfall than just dying. I would have liked to see him have a public trial and jail sentence. This would've destroyed his ego. But I guess being attacked by a dog will have to do! (hide spoiler)]

I recommend this to anyone looking for something a little different. I look forward to future works from this author.

(Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360 for the advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own).

Years ago, Lorna thought she was in love with a much older rockstar. Now, she has a daughter who has many questions about the father she never knew. Will Lorna be able to protect her daughter from the lifestyle she fell into when she was just a teenager? This thriller provided several twists and thoroughly kept me entertained.

I found this book to be decent. I wasn’t overly impressed but I did manage to finish it. I think I just found this thriller a bit too predictable which is not what you’re hoping for when reading within this genre. Good story overall. Just not a personal favorite for me.

While this book is a bit far fetched, I still somehow ended up really enjoying the story. The main character, Lorna, is frustratingly naive and has gone through much turmoil in her life. Lorna’s finally escaped her past and her only goal is to care for and protect her daughter, Liberty, even at the expense of keeping dark secrets from her. Liberty finally begins asking questions and Lorna is no longer able to protect her daughter from the dark evils of their past. Although the story is a little silly at times, it kept me coming back for more. Totally different from most of the ‘thrillers’ I read. Thank you Netgalley!
