Thank you NetGalley, Lindsey Hooper and Kensington Books for the ARC of Hemingway’s Cats. This is my personal review.
This is a fabulous fun book to read. The book being based on Hemingway’s six toed cats is perfect.
Hemingway’s house is a great place to visit in Key West and having been there I could picture in my mind the location.
Laura Lange deciding to move to Key West to be a tour guide at the Hemingway House. She had done her college thesis on Hemingway and this was all the inspiration she needed to make her change in life.
This is a book you will enjoy so much. Just seeing the cover is enough to make you want to pick up the book to read. The location- the people and the six toed cats make for a book you will want to share with your friends!

Laura Lange is taking a step into the unknown. She’s taken a job at the Hemingway House in Key West despite the objections of her mom and her fiancé. Laura has been obsessed with Ernest Hemingway and his cats ever since a family trip to Key West five years earlier when she became attached to one of the Hemingway cats. Now she’s in Key West to work as a tour guide for the Hemingway House. But… how will Laura, the 54 cats, and other Key West residents handle it when a hurricane has them trapped in the Hemingway House?

HEMINGWAY’S CATS is inspired by the real-life events of Hurricane Irma when workers stayed behind with the cats in the Hemingway House. As a Florida resident who also lived through Irma (which dragged on and on and on) and remembers the events, HEMINGWAY’S CATS was a must read. And oh boy, does Lindsey Hooper capture the essence of Key West!

We travel around Key West through the eyes of tourist-turned-resident, Laura, and what a joy it is! Of course, we spend a lot of time in the Hemingway House, but we also visit Sloppy Joe’s and the Lighthouse, all which I love to see when I’m actually there in Key West. I also love how Lindsey Hooper incorporates tidbits about Ernest Hemingway and the Hemingway House into HEMINGWAY’s CATS!

And the cats… I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the cats! The cats are integral to the plotline and we have some very distinct personalities of the cats that readers will get to know. Nessie and Pawpa are the main two, but be prepared to spend time with animals aplenty as even the roosters of Key West make an appearance or two.

HEMINGWAY’S CATS is a fun read about Hemingway, cats, and finding one’s true self even in the most of trying circumstances. Readers who love cats, Key West, or just a really good tale will enjoy Lindsey Hooper’s journey to Key West.

A new college graduate leaves her home and boyfriend to move to Key West and work at the Ernest Hemingway home. As a tour guide she meets an interesting group of people and the six toed cats that inhabit the home. I've never been to Key West but it sounds like something I should remedy soon. Every character seems like a true character there with southern charm and eccentricities.

What a fun book! It was a light breezy book which I really enjoyed! It had a bunch of quirky characters. Plus all the adorable sounding cats! It made me want to go to Key West even more.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the early copy

A charming tale based on the true story of how 54 Hemingway cats survived hurricane Irma in Key West. I remember being gripped by the story of these 6-toed creatures who rode out the storm with Hemingway House employees in 2017. As a cat-person, I knew this was a must-read and it truly was! Great fun for lovers of felines, Papa, and the entrancing Keys.

I loved this story! I remember worrying about the cats every time I heard about a storm heading their way! I had NO idea they weren't removed from harm ( I guess I shouldn't be too shocked, I remember the animal rescues in New Orleans after Katrina? Horrifying. I could not have imagined anyone could leave their pets behind...) I was happy to read that others remained with them during this particular storm. I enjoyed everything about the book actually. But particularly loved the chapter about the town gossip! Very funny! I had to put the book down a couple of times to laugh and wipe away tears! That the group were in the middle of a hurricane and sharing the stories was amazing. I'm not sure I could have kept myself together enough to have even thought of anything except keeping alive. Loved the people in the book, memorable characters to be sure. I have never been to Key West, but it's on my to go to list. As a cat lover, I want to meet the felines!

This seemed like such a cute premise. I love Key West and was excited to read a story set there. But, the third person omniscient point-of-view that included the CATS’ thoughts was just too over the top. The story got less and less believable. Also, as a Floridian, the naming of the hurricanes bothered me. Harry would not form after Sally - they are names in alphabetical order.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read a digital SRC in return for an honest review.

Set on Key West, this delightful book concentrates on several people working at or near Ernest Hemingway's House. The eccentric characters as well as the also-eccentric six-toed cats that make the author's house their home, provide a delightful cast for the novel that reaches its climax during the eventful hurricane that devastated the iland, but not the House, a few years ago.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.
