This seemed like a book similar to a lot of others I’ve read that involve groups of friends in far off places and murder. While it had similar plot points to a lot of books I’ve read I really enjoyed it and I did like that the location was Portugal after reading so many books similar to this one that take place in either Italy or Greece.

This book is drama packed that will have you quickly turning the pages to unravel all of the secrets. All of the characters made you question whether or not you could trust them which I loved. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because the ending did feel a little rushed however I still really enjoyed this book.

Didn't capture my attention and engagement. Interested in trying it again though and hopefully it will take.

I've enjoyed all of Sandie Jones' novels, so of course I was excited to read The Guilt Trip. This book was full of twists and secrets, and it was so much fun! I really enjoyed reading about these characters, and I stayed up way too late a few nights because the book was so hard to put down. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review a great new thriller by an amazing author...Sandie Jones never disappoints, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. : )

Being a huge fan of Sandie Jones' The Other Woman', I was very excited to read the Guilt Trip. Unfortunately, it turned out it wasn't for me. I wasn't drawn in from the start and felt it was hard to keep on going. I saw other reviews saying that the ending would get better, so I stuck with it and it did get a bit better. In the end, it wasn't enough for me to be able to say I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Three couples arrive to a picturesque villa perched on a cliff in Portugal. The six include Rachel and Noah longtime best friends married to Jack and Paige. They are there to attend the wedding of Jack's brother, Will and his bubbly finance, Ali. Ali, is a walking, talking, mess of unreliableness, acting wild and crazy when drunk.
We see the story through Rachel, Jack's wife and staunch defender of Ali. Until things change.
The story starts at the airport where they are off to a villa for a destination wedding. And that's when all the fireworks start. Paige instantly has an aversion to Ali. She finds her to be overbearing, childish and an attention seeker.
This book is packed with secrets and lies. Everything and everybody is not what they are pretending to be.
I won't go more into details as it would need more revelations.
This book wasn't my favourite. I guessed the ending and many of the scenarios I felt were slightly soap opera-ish and over the top.
It was a quick read so I have no regrets. I will still read the author's next book.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My fourth book by this Author and this one was good just a little slow in parts.
Group of friends who travel to Portugal for the wedding of two of them and the chaos that ensues due to tangled relationships between the interesting characters.
It had plot you do see coming.
Thank you to Netgalley, St. Martins Press and the Author Sandie Jones for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sandie Jones has become a go to author for me. The Guilt Trip wasn't my favorite of hers, but I still really loved it. There wasn't anything that stuck out from other typical mystery/thriller stories, but I did enjoy reading this one. I do wish the main character would have been a stronger one, as I found myself not caring much for her. But overall, this is a good thriller if you need a quick read.

Wow this book sure takes you on a wild goose chase. Two couples go to Portugal for the wedding of Ali and Will. Rachel and Jack(Will’s brother) along with Noah and Paige are all staying at the same rental house with the happy couple to be.
Something isn’t right as most of the main characters are not acting like themselves. Secrets, whispers and clandestine meetings all weave together throughout this entire book that keep you guessing on what is going to happen.
The major plot twists that explode throughout the wedding reception keeps you on your toes while trying to figure out who killed who.
Another great book by Sandie Jones.

I loved the premise of this book but unfortunately, I didn't particularly enjoy reading it. For me the book was just predictable, so it didn't hold my attention. Far too much drama and not enough thrill for me I think.

Loved the premise of this one!
I wish I loved it as much as her previous books, but after about 40% I had to DNF. This started off strong, but I ended up finding myself too bored to continue.
Will read more by this author, still though!

The Guilt Trip was okay for me. I am usually not a fan of Sandie Jones but I believe this book was better than previous books I have read by the same author. I would give it a fair rating of 3 stars but there are just some authors and books out there that aren't for everyone.

I enjoyed The Guilt Trip. Sandie Jones filled this one with lots of secrets and twists. The drama held my attention until the bitter end.

This one took me awhile to get into. It’s not that it wasn’t good—that’s not it at all—it just didn’t capture my attention from the beginning like most thrillers do. However, I did enjoy this. The ending is a bit predictable but sometimes it’s nice to “be right” about your assumptions!
While maybe not under the perfect circumstances with the best outcome, this book definitely got me wanting to travel to Portugal with friends! Lol!

I have not read much by this author and thanks to @netgalley I was able to read this! (Although I will admit I did listen to this as well when I’m the car). I really enjoyed this one. I liked the character development and trying to figure out who was lying throughout. The end left us with a nice shock and that was enjoyable for me because I didn’t see it coming. There is a scene from the accident that reminded me of one of the Batman movies (if you have read it and seen the movie, you know). I do recommend this one and look forward to reading more @sandiejones_author in the future.

Sandie Jones did it again with The Guilt Trip! I loved the build up and then the fast paced story telling here.

The absolute first thing that comes to mind when I think about this book is drama, drama, drama! Full of slow-build domestic suspense, The Guilt Trip is the poster book for “you play with fire and you’ll wind up burned” and burn it did. It took me a bit to get really into the plot but my patience paid off around the middle of the book when the pace put the pedal to the metal. There was suspicion, deceit, and lies around every corner that came to quite the catastrophic crescendo. I found myself so frustrated with the characters several times that I was actually fussing at them out loud. There were no huge plot twists or moments that truly shocked me but this was overall a fun, tense read and I’m glad I finally checked it off my list!

This was a really well paced thriller! It was similar in plot to The Guest List by Lucy Foley but had some nice twists that kept you guessing. The author did a nice job building the threads of lies between the characters and the ending came to a nice albeit slightly rushed conclusion.

The Guilt Trip follows two married couples (Rachel and Jack, Paige and Noah) who travel with Jack’s brother Will and his fiancé Ali to Portugal for their wedding. They stay together in what sounds like an amazing seaside villa. Right away, there’s some contention towards Ali, the newcomer to the group. Rachel is more welcoming toward her because they will be sisters-in-law. Also, Ali used to work with her husband Jack.
Ali is younger, flirtatious, over-dramatic and high maintenance. Much of the drama centers around Ali as Rachel discovers inconsistencies and half truths in her stories.
There’s quite a bit of conversations and character development in the first half of the book, mostly between Rachel and bestie Paige. Speculations of extra-marital affairs, paternity, and deception between the couples seem to be the theme here. For long time friends, seems a lot of “stuff” gets revealed during this destination wedding. It makes me wonder how they’ve been able to maintain this friendship with the secrets and lies. But in any drama, things aren’t always how they appear. I thought Ms. Jones did a wonderful job with creating this tense energy.
I found this book entertaining, it kept me guessing throughout due to misdirections and misunderstandings between the characters. I was expecting more of a thriller in a vacation spot, but I liked how all is revealed in the end with some juicy twists.

Such a great thriller! Really looking forward to purchasing this physical copy. I had heard such great things about this book and it definitely lived up to the hype!
