I have to confess, I am a Dorie Greenspan fan! From the first time I tried her World Peace cookies, I knew I was going to like her, and this new cookbook, Baking with Dorie, is no exception. There are so many fabulous sounding recipes in here, but being a coffee lover, I just had to give the Mochaccino Muffins my first attention. I will tell you that if you don't like any other recipe in this entire book, THIS one is worth the purchase price! Who needs a cup of coffee when you can have it in muffin form! No spilling boiling hot liquid on my lap or reheating lukewarm joe for me! These muffins are amazing! And even good the second day, room temp or warmed for a few seconds in the microwave. I am looking forward to trying several of her recipes including the Parisian Custard Tart and Park Avenue Brownies which are both begging to be made soon. For certain this beautiful book is one to keep on your shelf for all those sweet occasions when you want something super wonderful to serve. Enjoy!

The photos are all delicious looking, makes you want to just into the kitchen and do your thing. That is, until you've read the recipes. This is not the type of cookbook in which you can just give the recipe a little skim and you're good. This is more like those traditional cookbooks that is totally intimidating but is nonetheless rewarding when you've taken the time read and understand the content.

A lovely book of all the classic sweets one might want in their kitchen, from the breakfast brioche, scone, coffee muffins, cranberry pecan loafs, bunt cake, to the special or everyday cake (with nice additions of things like apricot and pistachio olive oil cake), cookies (including exciting French biscuit rose and delicious financier) , with a great recipe on crackle cream puffs - which are just the best, lots of pies, and even a savoury section. This book is really all you ever need in terms of sweets and cafe light lunches / gourmet picnics. The vast range and the quality of the recipes surprised me. There is a picture for every recipe, all looks delicious and makes the book really beautiful. A fantastic dessert book to have!

Ms Greenspan is a treasure trove of baking knowledge. Paired with the detailed photographs that accompany this work makes it a spectacular piece to complete ones baking book nook. I dully plan to execute the rugelach and the brioche. I nay dave the cookies for Christmas time baking with the family. Those chocolate thumbprints look yummy!

Dorie Greenspan's recipes are amazing so when I saw it available for an advanced copy, I jumped on it. This says a lot since I've recently found I'm intolerant to gluten and most baking cookbooks are full of flour! I was happily surprised to find a handful of recipes that I won't have to adapt and am excited to try them out. The pictures are absolutely mouth watering - there should be a warning label on the book that it's going to make you hungry if you try to browse the entire thing in one sitting! My absolute favorite thing about this book is that Dorie had a section called "playing around" with a lot of the recipes with ideas for substitutions that could be done to make the recipe your own. While this is something I frequently do on my own, some of her suggestions made me bookmark the recipe. I've already preordered a hard copy for myself since that's how I prefer my cookbooks.

NetGalley provided me with an advanced copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

This book was received as an ARC from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was looking forward to reviewing this cookbook and knowing the career of Dorie Greenspan and her spectacular desserts and baked goods, I knew I was in for a real treat. I absolutely loved Dorie's picture and backstory were so adorable and heartwarming that after reading just that, you will want to continue and expect the same feelings when you take a look and make her recipes. All of the recipes looked delicious and the photos were phenomenally taken. I can't wait to try the orange spice cake, and the brioche buns and I know they will be a hit at any function I bring them to.

We will consider adding this title to our TX Non-Fiction collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Doris does it again! I am a more impassioned baker than cook and Dorie Greenspan has always been one of my go-tos. Her new book does not disappoint. Once again she provides clear and consistent recipes enhanced by tips about how to achieve the best results and about how to experiment by variation. This is a "must have" for all libraries - personal or public - that will be used by experienced and new bakers alike.

I immediately wanted to run to the kitchen and start baking. Everything in this book is so homey and delicious looking, I’m trying to figure out what to bake first.

#BakingWithDorie is another must-have for the baking library. So many great recipes, from classics you can whip up with the kids to a bit more involved and exotic. Some are a bit fussy and would take some shopping and advanced prep to pull off. This is a book you could spend a year baking your way through. The photos and food styling is gorgeous and so tempting. The recipes seem clear and well written. I was able to give the pecan cranberry loaf a go already, and it turned out delicious.

Dorie Greenspan is releasing a new book? And it's available on Net Galley? Request!

Baking with Dorie is as expected, a wonderful addition to your cookbook collection. The book has 7 chapters with over a hundred and fifty recipes. I'm warning you now, this is not for the weak. The whole thing is heavy on the imagery. I have to applaud the photographer, Mark Weinberg for perfectly capturing the pastries.

I've followed Dorie Greenspian during my early days of baking and I know from experience that they are very easy to follow. To this day, her cheesecake recipe is still my go-to cheesecake whenever someone asks me to make it. But anyway, I have got my eyes set on her breakfast, and tarts chapter. The photos make me want to head on to the shops to stock up on ingredients. Cheese Swirl Babka and Fig and Goat Cheese tart in particular makes me go hungry. Oh, and metric weights? I must have this book!

If it's Dorie Greenspan, then I absolutely recommend it.

Thanks to Net Galley and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for the ARC!

“Simple yet sophisticated” is the perfect description for the recipes in Dorie Greenspan’s newest book Baking with Dorie. She puts a new twist on old favorites while creating an endless array of contenders for new favorite recipes.

I was especially enamored with the tips and playing around sections, as well as the “sweetheart” designation that let the reader know which recipes are Dorie’s favorites. This book not only provides the basic instructions for each recipe but encourages the reader/baker to adventurously try new twists and options.

The photographs in this book are so tantalizingly beautiful that you can almost smell the fragrant aroma of fresh baked goods. And do not even think about browsing the pages of this book unless you have fully stocked your pantry with baking staples or you will find yourself heading to the store! I know that I will spend many happy hours working my way through the recipes in this book. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.)

Baking with Dorie - Sweet, Salty & Simple. Written by Dorie Greenspan. Photography by Mark Weinberg

This is an awesome cookbook! A definite keeper that will never go out of style. Rich with Dorie’s “Playing Around” notes that give you ideas on how to vary the recipes. I read it twice already just for the pleasure of it.

I love cooking but I’m not a baker. This book gives me the confidence that I too can bake a bread and make beautiful desserts. Dorie is an excellent teacher and is very generous in sharing her experience as well as basic tips on baking that make it simple to understand why and how each step is so important.

Dorie is a celebrated and respected Baker and she writes in a way that makes you feel like she’s right there with you, kind of like when I was in the kitchen with my Grandma.

The beautiful and luscious photography by Mark Weinberg makes it hard to resist. I look forward to many hears of Baking with Dorie!

Follow her lovely recipes or go off on your own using her playing around suggestions . I felt like Dorie was right beside me guiding me through every step. Her writing style is very conversational and offers even a novice baker the invitation to try something new. Thank you #NetGalley and #BakingwithDorie for providing this ARC.

You had me at rye-chocolate shortbread!

I love to read and I love to cook, so it is only natural that I read cookbooks like some people read novels: devouring them and savoring every last headnote, ingredient list, recipe, footnote, and photograph. Baking with Dorie by Dorie Greenspan is no exception. I can't wait to purchase a copy of this glorious compendium for my very own, and bake my way through it.

I enjoy apple pie and chocolate chip cookies like the rest of us, but I really love cookbooks that have great recipes for the all-American standards combined with favorites from other parts of the world. This brings me to the rye and chocolate shortbread. In a recipe named "Tenderest Shortbread Four Ways," Greenspan pushes us way out of our comfort zone (and what could be more comforting than a piece of buttery sandy shortbread with a steaming hot cup of tea) into a recipe for "The Rye-Chocolate Shortbread." I love rye bread, and during the pandemic have spent some time trying to copy the Harvest Loaf from my favorite farmers' market. I know it's part rye and has lots of other seeds and grains in it but I'm not there yet. Now I know just what to do with one cup of the rye flour I ordered for those experimental loaves. I can almost taste that Rye-Chocolate Shortbread now!

Since the pandemic has all but frozen us in place, I loved being able to dream about all the places I'd love to travel to, where I could eat all of the goodies from those places that are detailed in Greenspan's book, like the "Biscuits Rose" sold all over the Champagne region of France, the "Glenorchy Flapjacks" straight from New Zealand, or the "Szarlotka" apple dessert from Poland.

This is a beautiful cookbook, with gorgeous photos of almost every recipe in it, but what I really appreciate is what Greenspan includes at the end of each recipe: Playing Around. Here she details how to add/delete ingredients to make the recipe your own, or to bring it back to what it was originally, like the updated World Peace Cookies 2.0 recipe on page 160. In the Playing Around section at the end of the recipe, she gives instructions on how to go back and make the original World Peace Cookies. But, hey, since the 2.0 version calls for 1/2 cup of rye flour and a pinch of cayenne pepper, I'm going to start with the updated one!

The publication date for this beauty is October 19, 2021. Being a Libra, I think this would make a wonderful birthday present that I will gift to myself!

Baking with Dorie by @doriegreenspan is the most scrumptious book I’ve ever seen. Pages and pages filled with beautiful photos (which made me hungry) and amazing recipes! My personal favorite recipe was the Lamingtons! I have a friend in Australia that introduced me to them and finding this recipe filled me with nostalgia.

Thank you to @houghtonmifflinharcourt , @doriegreenspan & @netgalley for the opportunity to read and enjoy this advanced copy.

I could not wait to devour this cookbook! After finishing I’m wondering if Dorie is willing to adopt me? First of all her warmness comes through in her openings, in her love for her family and her friends. Second anyone that can create these incredible creations is someone you want to keep close. Reading through Dorie’s recipes was like having your mother sit you down and explain how to make your favorite recipes. She tells you how to store the baked goods and how you can change a recipe up. I also loved there are savory baked goods included in this book. This book will absolutely be the most well loved cookbook in my collection (and I have a huge bookcase overflowing with cookbooks) I can’t wait to have a physical copy and I will be gifting friends with this because everyone needs to know and love Dorie like I do!

Another great book by Dorie Greenspan. Dorie is a James Beard award winner and world traveler, a lot of her recipes are inspired by her travels from around the world. This book is filled with delicious easy to make recipes with items found in most pantries. I have tried many recipes and never did any modifications. Every recipe has turned out perfectly.

Gorgeous, gorgeous book. I love Dorie's recipes, and this book captures a bunch of the classics with plenty of new, fun bakes. I particularly love the quantity and quality of notes and tips provided-- nearly every recipe has helpful info about freezing, tips for texture, or alternate versions or twists. Perfect gift for the baker in your life.
