I was disappointed in this book. Does it have lots of information? Yes. Is it information that is particularly helpful? Not really. I was hoping to find plenty of information to guide me through the transition to retirement. Instead, I found either common sense stuff that is applicable to ANY adult, conventional wisdom, or badly-written gobbuldy-goop. You are better off looking on your on the Web.

This is quite good. I covers all of the major topics that need to be considered in a clear way. It's not a quick read, which is OK give that retirement lasts decades. It includes some good summaries, lists, and things to consider. The 3 star reviews don't explain the reason for the rating, so I'm not sure why it rate higher.

Thanks very much for the review copy!!

Baby Boomer Survival Guide, Second Edition - Live, Prosper, and Thrive in Your Retirement by Barbara Rockefeller and Nick J. Tate is well-written and includes critical elements including figuring out where you stand in regard to financial preparedness, optimizing Social Security, and a section on wills and trusts.

This book, also well-researched and well-referenced, reads more as a textbook than a practical self-help guide to planning for a financially secure retirement. It struck me as taking a decidedly negative approach to the subject. Within the introduction alone the reader is warned that “fewer than one in four will have saved enough for retirement”, “Older Americans are also living with more costly, chronic health care problems”, and “Medicare is unsupportable at current levels” - to cite just a few examples. The tone did not improve throughout the book, making me feel depressed even though my retirement plan is solidly in place.

The Do’s and Don’ts at the end of each chapter were very help, written in a clear and crisp manner. This book will make a strong addition to your reference shelf. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.)

This book is focussed on the American baby boomers, although the theory is the same as most developed countries you will have to change the currency and taxation etc. Useful for planning and if thinking about retirement in another country or state. Thank you #NetGalley for the copy

Comprehensive, readable, downright useful, and up-to-date. This is all you really need and want in a guide like this and every baby boomer could benefit from having it on their shelf, or device.
