I always read Lori Foster whenever I get a copy of any of her books and review them when they come out on the other platforms. I sometimes forget to review them on here. This was a wonderful book by her as always.

I was drawn by the blurb and found myself intrigued by the characters referenced. But truth be told, I just could not find a connection with Ivey. IDK, I had a hard time investing myself in her story. I did like Corbin but couldn't understand why he chose to pursue a relationship when was actively trying to build a relationship with his son. Hope was by far my favorite character. Her story was interesting and engaging, I enjoyed getting to know her. Especially when she started opening up and allowing herself the chance to explore something with Lang. I thought Lang complemented Hope very well. He was understanding, patient and allowed Hope to grow.

I think my biggest problem with this story was the insta-love aspect of it. I enjoyed the slow burn and the moments shared together, but I think I would have enjoyed these romances by themselves. IMHO, there was a lot going on and I think the romance got lost a bit in the shuffle.

All in all, an enjoyable read.

Ivey has just broken up with her boyfriend of two years and plans to spend the summer with no attachments when she meets Corbin and his newly discovered 10 year old son. ARC from NetGalley.

It's too bad that I can't give this book more than 5 stars! I've been a fan of Lori Foster's books for years, and each new story she writes just makes me appreciate her talent even more. I know I've said it before, but this book is her best yet! I couldn't put it down. This story drew me in and kept me engrossed until the very end. It would make an awesome movie!
The characters are three-dimensional, and I just fell in love with all of them. Cade is my favorite hero yet. What woman wouldn't want a guy like him? He's gorgeous, sexy, protective, and is one tough hombre. Sterling (Star) is determined not to get involved with anyone and spends her time helping victims of human trafficking. She tries to resist Cade, but they're like a magnet and steel. The heat they generate is off the charts. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Reyes, Cade's brother, will be the next book in the series, then Madison, his sister, will have her story. I'd love to read a story about the senior McKenzie, Parrish, finding love.
It's going to be so hard to wait for the next book! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance with heat and suspense!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

"The Summer of No Attachments" (The Summer Friends Book 2) by Lori Foster is an excellent read. I loved reading about Ivey, Corbin, Justin, Lang, and Hope. This is a wonderful addition to this series. This book has romance, close friends, family, interesting and entertaining characters, humor, animals, and more. I hope we'll see more of these entertaining characters in the future. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, family, and series.

Small town setting, heartbreak healing, handsome newcommer with a newfound son, veterinarian friends, steamy romance......yep, this checks all the boxes for a summer womens literature novel. It didn't feel deep, I could read it while relaxing pool side. I went in not knowing it was book four in a series. It's very much a standalone, but some of the characters were so great that I want to go back and learn some more about the town and the people in it. Great for fans of Virgin River.

This is an odd little story. The cover screams Florida Spring Break. The blurb shouts sexy summer romance. The story itself? A slow-burn family values romance with too many characters and subplots.

A single novel with two separate romance storylines told from four perspectives was always going to be complicated. At times, there’s way too much going on. We’re told more than we’re shown, and the result is characters whose stories feel distant – as if they are relayed by third hand gossip. I like Ivey. She’s a committed veterinarian with a big heart. Unfortunately, despite being the leading lady, I’m not sure we ever learn much more about her as a person. We see Ivey as a vet, a friend, a girlfriend, and a stepmom, but we don’t see much of Ivey as herself. She’s admirable and likeable, but I found it difficult to invest in her because she seems quite superficially sketched. Similarly, Corbin is far too good to be true. These two are mostly perfect and slightly irritating with their perfections. Hope and Lang are a little more human and relatable, but they remain secondary characters and Hope’s problems resolve far too easily.

I’ll admit that I’m never a huge fan of kids in romance. Here, all the adults put Corbin’s son, Justin, at the center of their lives. He’s a sweet kid, but he’s not the reason I wanted to read a summer romance. Way too much heat and sexual tension is lost at the expense of the adults all attempting to care for Justin. The result is a book that is both tediously slow and weirdly practical. Neither of the couples really dates. Ivey and Corbin tiptoe around Justin. Hope and Lang dance around Ivey and Corbin tiptoeing around Justin. Romance is supposed to be an escape, but this book is full of complicated realistic plans to facilitate dating that feel like more hard work than an actual relationship.

This book feels strangely dated and has a whiff of smug MAGA family values that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. This definitely isn’t the saucy summer romance promised by the cover. It didn’t work for me, but it might work for a more conservative reader.

Does it get any better than two best friends who are also coworkers falling for two brothers? Ivey decides after breaking up with her long time boyfriend to just work on herself but Corbin and his relaxed easy going manner has her falling for him in the blink of an eye. His sweet 10 year old son, who happens to love animals quickly steals your heart. Then we meet Lang who is Corbin's brother and see how wonderful and patient he is with Ivey's bff Hope, who has had a really rough time the past 4 years and you can't turn pages fast enough to see how everything works out in the end! Add in the perfect setting, a lake, and you have the perfect book! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

I really enjoyed this interesting journey of self discovery and reflection. Excellent reading. Heartwarming, sweetly sexy, exciting and emotional journey filled with intriguing charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and exciting moments.

This was a 5 star read for me! I loved all the characters from main to secondary. Ivey, Corbin, Hope, Lang and Justin all won my heart in this book. Each one had such depth and they came to life in this story. I loved every aspect of this one. I was unable to se the book down because it was so good. The dialogue was also amazing. I found myself laughing out loud at times. I would recommend this book!

Ivey Anders's relationship is going nowhere and she feels its time to drop the dead weight. Turning the page and hoping to start a new she decides that some time without any men in her life is just the thing. Enter Corbin Meyer, she is instantly attracted to him but doesn't want to ruin her new mantra of no men. Corbin is attracted to Ivey as well and will go along with her no strings approach to dating. Will the two be able to keep things light and flirty or will true feelings get in the way? Meanwhile Ivey's assistant Hope doesn't trust men at all, having been hurt badly in the past she isn't one for dating. When Corbins brother Lang shows up and makes Hope feel things that she isn't ready for and she is not sure she'll ever be. Lang feels with patience he'll be able to break past Hope's barriers and turn her feelings into much more. Follow along as these two couples try to figure out just where they stand with each other. Will love conquer all or will feelings for each other be just too much.

At 50% finished I decided to stop reading The Summer of No Attachments. The writing was great, but I wasn't felling connected to the characters enough to continue. I see that many people loved it, so I do feel like this is a case of it's me, not you.

Full of great characters and stories that tickled the heart…

I thought this was going to be a light, summer read – and it was! – but it was also more. More heart, more angst, more confusion… This was a few reads in one and I loved them all!

Corbin and Justin. Corbin and Ivey. And a mix of all three. Lang and his brother and nephew. And Hope… Throw in four-legged friends, an ex, an interfering (and lovable!) mom and surprises from the past and you more than enough to fill the pages of this hot summer romance. I’ve read this author for years and her heartfelt, humourous writing style was in full force here as even the heart-twinging moments made me happy. I laughed and cried with these characters as they struggled to find a new normal when everyone’s lives were upended. Upending is good but change – no matter how bittersweet – is tough when you’re in the middle of it. The strength of all the characters to put others first, especially Justin, was apparent in every page and it warmed all the cockles…

This is a stand-alone but I can’t wait to dive into more in the series!

Thanks to Netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest review

This book was a lot different than I thought it would be, but in the best way possible.

This book is a second in the series but reads as a good stand alone.

The small town setting makes for a cozy read! The lake and summer season as a backdrop make it a perfect read for the summer!

I like that the MC is a vet. All the talks of dogs and animals made my heart happy. I love dogs so much, so I very much enjoyed that. It also made for an interesting part of the plot!

I also love the friendship between Ivey and Hope. It’s so well written and cute. Their friendship might be my favourite relationship in this book.

Corbin the main guy is so sweet! Him and Ivey have an instant connection and I loved that! Corbins son Justin really tugged at my heartstrings.

I also really liked Corbins brother Lang and him and Hope together. It was a really great romance story. I think I preferred Hope and Lang’s romance. I just love Hope so much.

Not a full 5 star read as some parts were a little slow in the middle. But on to more stuff that I liked...

I liked that there were 4 narrators and two love stories woven all together in this story. Based on the cover and title I didn’t think that this book would be as emotional and full of so much heart as it was!
Wow there is some powerful stuff in this story. It made me feel so many emotions! Joy, love, sadness, shock and grief!

This book is exceptional! It deals with a lot of difficult subjects but at the same time has a strong romance. It’s so sweet and will make your heart feel good. I do recommend this! It will leave you thinking about it even after you read it.

Some heavy topics so please check trigger warnings these are some that I noticed.
Trigger warnings

Even though I’m a self-proclaimed (and self-titled) eclectic reader, sweet romances aren’t my go-to when I’m looking for a new read. I do get in the mood for them from time to time and there’s absolutely no hesitation when they are written by authors I’ve grown to love. Lori Foster is one of those authors. I got hooked on her books with her Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series when I picked up the 4th book, A Perfect Storm. It didn’t take me long to back track through the rest of the series and since then I’ve read a a lot of her suspense filled books. So, when I want a sweet, low drama read and see a book by Lori Foster offered, I know that I’ll be in for a good read. The Summer of No Attachments was no exception.

Readers met Ivey in the first book in the Summer Friends series, The Somerset Girls. Even though this is the second book in a series, it can definitely be read as a stand alone.

The Summer of No Attachments was a character driven story about two unlikely couples. Not because they weren’t perfect for each other, but because none of them were looking for romance, but fate had other plans. I know that a lot of readers see that a kid is involved in the plot of a romance and cringe. I’m the opposite because that’s a draw for me. Of course if the kid is simply used as a “prop” it can ruin the story, but Justin’s inclusion in The Summer of No Attachments was perfect. Of course he was the main focus of his father and his uncle, but the fact that both Ivey and Hope not only understood, but made him part of their focus as well said a lot for the future for both couples.

Even though there was little or no suspense, there was just enough drama to keep the pages turning. There were some heartbreaking moments surrounding both Hope and Justin, but the way that the other characters handled those situations made me love all of them even more.

So, if you’re in the mood for a sweet summer romance that includes a troubled kid who finds the family he deserves, an adorable dog and her puppies, supportive friends and a fair amount of healing, The Summer of No Attachments is the perfect choice.

Ivey and Corbin have a chance meeting and then it’s on! Ivey wants to play the field but when she meets Corbin and his son Justin, the idea looses its appeal. Justin is Corbin’s 10 year old son that he just met and they move to Sunset to start building their relationship.
Get ready to laugh, get mad and cry! It’s all there. But you also get patience, understanding and forgiveness and most of all, lots of love.
Lori write lovable characters and stories anyone can relate to.
You also get a bonus love story with Hope and Lang. Don’t forget all the animals!
This book has been my favorite so far!
I received an advanced copy and this is my unsolicited and honest review.

A single father meets a vet and the vet tech meets his brother.  The ten year old son and dog definitely have So much healing to do, as does Hope, the vet tech.  But they help each other see how love can heal.  Over the course of the summer they all build solid relationships and learn more about friendship and love.

This was a quick, sweet read with a few tears at the end.   I listened to the audible version and enjoyed the narration and production.

I am thankful for the electronic copy of the book that I received from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.  I purchased my audible copy of the book.
