Friendship, love and animals - what more can you want

The Summer of No Attachments is a great new book by Lori Foster. The characters are so likable and relatable. In this book you will find heart wrenching scenarios involving past incidents, and then go through the process of finding love, understanding and forgiveness. The interactions with the characters and the animals throughout the story tell a story all their own. Once you start, you will not be able to put this book down until you finish.
This review is entirely my own despite receiving an ARC of this book.

Summer sun, fun & sass… 🏖😎♥️

Lori Foster hits it out of the park again… I love her Summer reads so much, and this is no exception. Corbin & Lang are two brothers that any red-blooded woman would want. They’re sexy, strong, capable men with all the grit & determination to make them fine as heck! 😉

Ivey & Hope are so lucky to find such wonderful men who help create the heat in this book to go with the heat of the summer. Lots of sass among this bunch which is fun to read as well as be able to laugh along through a wonderful summer read.

Warning ⚠️ If you’re afraid of cute & innocent animals and children, then this book may not be your thing… I, however, love both & they make Lori’s stories so special every time! ♥️

This book has everything you want in a romance novel plus the bonus of 2 love stories. Heart, Humor, Angst, and a nice mix of women's fiction thrown in. I really enjoyed reading it

The Summer Of No Attachments
By Lori Foster

HQN - July 2021

Contemporary Romance

Ivey Anders had broken up with Geoff, and she was looking forward to no commitments. No boyfriend. A summer of no attachments. It would just be her and her old cat. Of course, there would always be Hope Mage, her co-worker who had become like a younger sister to her. So when Hope decides to check into renting a guesthouse from a single father, Ivey goes for moral support, never expecting to find a challenge to all her summer plans.

Corbin Meyer had to make recent changes in his life. He'd just received custody of a son he had never known, and now they were learning to get to know and trust one another. It was obvious Justin's mother had lacked many parenting skills, but at least she had finally made one good decision in calling him. He was happy to have a renter for the guest house, but he never expected the thrill he felt when he met Ivey

Hope had lost so much, but the one thing she had gained in life was her friendship with Ivey. She was one of the few people she could rely on to keep her secrets and not judge her. She was uncomfortable with most men, but when she meets Lang Meyer, she's unsettled in an entirely new way.

Lang had come to meet his nephew, but he was equally fascinated with his brother's tenant. It was obvious both had traumatic pasts and were tentative with strangers, and he was determined to wade carefully.

The Summer of No Attachments is the perfect summer romance read. Ivey is a fierce heroine who quickly discards her no commitment summer when she discovers the perfect family with Corbin and Justin. She is a protector of animals and people, willing to drop anything for an injured animal, help Hope feel comfortable, or ease Justin into his new life. Corbin is the perfect hero uprooting his life for the son he just learned about. As does Lang. From the moment he meets Hope, he is in tune with Hope and her needs. That doesn't make Hope a weak heroine. She is a strong woman who has just needed time to care for some wounds, knows what she needs, and is willing to ask for help. The Summer of No Attachments is filled with family, animals, friendships and romance. There is also a nod to The Somerset Girls which is certain to please.

This is the perfect beach read or just the perfect anytime read. Foster has another winner here! Best friends Ivey, the local small-town vet, and Hope, her assistant, are as different as can be but they both find love with brothers who were not looking for it. Add in a small boy and all the fur babies and this one is a hit. There is plenty of back story to sink your teeth into and I'm not going to give anything away other than to say this author knows how to write a story worth putting your feet up and spending a few hours with. Definitely a keeper for my shelf!

Lori Foster once again delights with The Summer of No Attachments . This story is about two close friends that work at a veterinary clinic together.
Right after ending a bad relationship and vowing to not get involved with anyone serious ,Ivey meets Corbin and his son, Justin and immediately becomes attracted to Corbin. Hope, Ivey’s best friend ends up moving into the rental house that Corbin owns and while she is weary of men she finds herself very interested in Corbin’s brother,Lang .
This is a sweet story about new beginnings and new friendships and love.

The Review

A heartwarming and emotional story that balances the friendship and bond of women’s fiction with the heart of romance narratives, author Lori Foster has crafted a beautiful story set within an established series that still manages to act as a standalone story that readers both old and new will enjoy. The pacing does a great job of getting into the character’s personalities and interactions while slowly building the rising relationships between the women and the men they meet over the summer.

The character arcs were fantastic to see unfold here. The strength and humor that Ivey brings as a protagonist are great to witness, while the overall development of Hope as a character after her heartbreaking past was inspiring and hopeful, two qualities that make for a great romance story.

The Verdict

A perfect summer read that blends love and hope into an engaging narrative, author Lori Foster’s “The Summer of No Attachments” is the perfect summer novel for fans of women’s fiction and romance novels. The powerful story of not only budding romance but of true friendship in the face of adversity in both women’s lives made this such a captivating story, so if you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!

I love when you get two romances in one! First up, we have Corbin who is adjusting to being a father to the son he never knew he had. He meets veterinarian Ivey and feels an immediate attraction. Then we've got Hope who keeps her distance from people because of her past. When she rents a house on Corbin's property, and she meets his brother, Lang, she begins to feel things she never thought she would. The Summer Of No Attachments is an excellent story full of love, understanding and joy. Grab it today!

If you are looking for a good poolside or beach read, you’ve found it with the Summer of No Attachments.

Friends Ivey and Hope are a likeable pair that I enjoyed getting to know. Their interactions with each other spoke to the bonds of family we choose and it was nice to see an example of a healthy, supportive female friendship.

It was also fun to see them in their budding friendships/relationships with brothers Corbin and Lang. Both men were almost too good to be true, but it worked for this story.

Overall, this is a fairly light read. There are some conflict-like moments, but they flow through the whole story vs one big fight scene. The lighter feel felt just right coming off the stresses of 2020 and into a new summer.

Lori Foster displays how amazing her writing is in the wonderful, heart-warming, story in The Summer of No Attachments. While turning the pages I was finding myself falling in love with these characters, with their warm and open hearts, compassion, enthusiasm, quirkiness, and understanding. Reading this book you will find yourself immersed in two love stories, very different, but both loving.

Local veterinarian Ivey Anders ended a dead-end relationship and is ready to spend the summer on her terms; summer flings with no strings. That way no one is disappointed and no one is hurt. What she didn’t expect is meeting Corbin Meyer and his young son Justin. Just a couple of months prior Corbin had his world rocked, learning he was a father and that he it was his turn to be the parent; as mom, an addict, couldn’t handle it anymore. Corbin knew it was going to take time to build trust with his son in addition to Justin learning that he was in a safe and wanted place.

Vet-clinic assistant, Hope Mage, is best friends with Ivey. Hope does not trust easily, as she’s still affected a traumatic incident that has affected every relationship she’s ever had; it is quite difficult for her to open her heart. Lang Meyer, Corbin’s older brother, is charming, kind, and very, very understanding. He recognizes the fear and anxiety that Hope exhibits, but is patient enough to give Hope time to become comfortable with their attraction. Lang might just be the best thing to happen to Hope and the reason for her to open up and be willing to enter into a relationship.

Ms. Foster wrote a story that was wonderful, humorous, entertaining and romantic that should definitely not be missed. This tale is rich with sizzling chemistry, amazing dialogue, and endearing characters; especially the Meyers brothers who won’t give up on those they love. I highly recommend The Summer of No Attachments to other readers.

I am in love with The Summer of No Attachments. It was the perfect story about true love. In all its form. From romantic love to familial love. This story showed me that you don't have to be blood related to be family either. All the love, patience and understanding from these amazing characters totally pulled at my heart strings. Add in the cute kid and adorable fur babies and I was a goner. I absolutely love Lori Foster's hotter and heart pounding romances but when she gives me an emotional, heart warming, slow burn romance like this one it just makes my heart happy. There is a tissue warning so have those handy when you're reading this story.

4.5 star

The story has secrets, sweet love, lots of family and friends. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well, and I was kept interested.

The below are part of this series if you want to read those also:
The Somerset Girls (The Summer Friends #1)

This is both Ivey and Corbin’s and Hope and Lang’s stories. After ending her relationship, the last thing Ivey is looking for is another man. But one troubled teen and his father have a way of changing all that. Are they both looing for more or is only one going all in? Hope has trust issues from the past that affects they way she goes into and forms a relationship. But when she meets Lang and gets to know him, she just might want a forever. Will she be able to allow him into her heart? After all the walls around her heart have been there a long time. Maybe she can finally let someone in.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read. Side characters are super important in most stories and bring a lot at the table. Lori always has great supporting characters that are not perfect in every way, but they are perfect for the stories she is telling.

I highly recommend this book and this author.

I’m barely into this book and I'm already so in love with ALL the characters but especially Justin. He just tugs at your heart and how Corbin reacts and treats him, so heartwarming. Ivey has such a great and funny personality, thinks and says it like it is, so refreshing. Corbin is the perfect match for her too.
And Lang and Hope, gah!!! The gentleness that he shows her is overwhelming.
I laughed and I had tears. I actually hugged my kindle when I finished this was such a good book

The Summer of No Attachments was a great story filled with wonderful characters. Corbin and his brother Lang were the best! They were the perfect guys for Ivey and Hope, and it was heartwarming to see how much everyone loved and supported Corbin's son Justin. I loved every minute of their story and didn't want it to end.

When veterinarian Ivey Anders realizes that her current relationship is going nowhere she resolves to keep her future relationships casual and avoid any long term attachments. That works until she meets Corbin Meyer. There's some attraction there, especially when his young son shows a special bond with Ivey's rescued puppies.

Corbin Meyer has just moved to town to rear his young son, having just learned of his existence. It was really hard not to fall for Corbin (all of the characters, tbh) -- he's mature, sensitive and attracted to Ivey. It's just all so perfect here between them

Then here's Hope, Ivey's best friend and work colleague who has a past trauma that few people know about. She's timid around men for good reason, but when she rents a place from Corbin and meets his brother Lang, she must put her past behind her if she wants to explore a relationship with him.

Instead of summer flings and "no attachments," both Ivey and Hope find themselves with two unicorn brothers. Really, these guys are perfect. (A little flaw here or there would not have changed my appreciation of these guys!)

There is hardly any conflict in this story, so if you are looking for a very sweet almost-fairy-tale story, this romance from Lori Foster could be for you. There are some tense moments with the exes that really don't go much of anywhere and all is resolved by the end of the story.

I really liked these characters and even though this was a bit tame for my tastes, I did find myself engaged in this story. It was quite refreshing to read characters who can communicate well with each other with a level of maturity that's needed for the very sensitive situation with Justin, who is absolutely adorable, especially with the animals.

Overall, The Summer of No Attachments is a low conflict romance that just left me feeling good. And there's puppies too....

Like most people, I’ve struggled with the world’s current situation for the last 12 plus months. While I try to stay upbeat, sometimes I just need something extra to lift my spirits and give me a shot of hope. Thanks to Lori Foster, The Summer of No Attachments was just the medicine I needed. A feel good read with a loveable cast of characters.
I love romances that aren’t just about the relationships between the main characters but also those relationships between family and friends. Don’t get me wrong. I’m always a sucker for a good romance. But I especially love when those romances involve stories of loving friendships and families. Relationships that not only bring fun to our life but inspire you, pick you up when you stumble, encourage you to take risks.
This second in her Summer Friends series offers a fabulous lineup of real, relatable characters that tug at your heart. Couples who found love even when they weren’t looking for it. These characters are the people you’d gladly choose as friends. The story is perfectly paced and easy to read with some humorous moments, aww moments, and emotional moments. If you’re looking for a heartwarming story that’s juicy, romantic, and uplifting, you’ll definitely fall in love with this one.

This is a really sweet, feel-good contemporary romance. Ivey is a veterinarian and her assistant is Hope. Ivey has declared that this will be a summer without a long and complicated relationship. At least, that is what she believes until she meets the new man in town, Corbin. Corbin is a single dad to his young son Justin and is struggling with being a single parent and trying to work. Enter Corbin’s older brother Lang, a character who is like a guardian angel who is always “johnny on the spot” for him. He has come to town to help Corbin take care of Justin. Naturally, Corbin and Ivey start hanging out together and Lang starts to woo Hope away from her trust issues. Although I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters, Justin captured my heart because of his deep love for animals and his need to be wanted and loved. This is a great summer read because of the characters who steal the show and the animals who are so endearing, too. As the characters discovered their inner strength and the ability to juggle family and friendships, I discovered that I was totally absorbed in reading their story. The plot just naturally flowed and was easy to read. This is a book that I will long remember for its characters and its lessons about depending on others.
