The Summer of No Attachments is the perfect blend of romance and women’s fiction, following the lives of two women who are like sisters, two men who are brothers and the young boy who’s discovered the family he deserves.
Ivey instantly connects to Corbin and his newly discovered son Justin. As Corbin and Justin traverse their new relationship, Ivey and the animals from her veterinary practice help young boy adjust to his new life. At the same time, Ivey’s assistant, Hope, is also changing and growing after years of keeping to herself following a traumatic experience as a teen. When Corbin’s brother, Lang, comes to meet his new nephew and support his other brother, he’s taken with Hope, and vice versa. Their gentle friendship was a beautiful addition to the book.
While the storyline follows a familiar romance formula, it’s definitely still a fun, heartfelt and refreshing read…perfect for reading while enjoying the warm summer sunshine. Lori Foster has written yet another family-centric story full of hope, personal growth and love.

This is the reason why I love Lori Foster’s books – she brings the heart and soul to her storylines. Her characters feel like family and she puts them through their paces with challenges that are overcome with determination and hard work. An added bonus for me, is the inclusion of some amazing pets that I cannot get enough of; so, get ready to meet Daisy and her puppies as they will make you smile. This book has two couples for your reading pleasure. First is Ivey, a woman veterinarian who has recently split from her boyfriend and meets Corbin and his son who have moved to the town. Second is Hope, Ivey’s assistant and she has some trust issues. However, with the arrival of Corbin’s older brother, Lang, she may need to reexamine her feelings on the matter. The writing style is flawless as Ms. Foster creates her world that makes you want to sink down into and stay for a long while. This is one book with all the emotions from love to heartbreak to healing and forgiveness. I volunteered to read a copy of this book provided by Netgalley.

After ending her long-term relationship Ivey wants to take some time before she tries again and plans to spend the next couple of months focusing on the animals at her veterinary clinic and spending time with her best friend Hope. She never expected that Corbin, a single father, and Justin the ten-year-old son he just met to come into her clinic and have her second guessing her plan.

Due to her past Hope doesn’t allow many people close so when Corbin’s brother comes to town she is cautious. Not only does he draw her in, but he is patient and understanding as they get to know each other, and he tries to show her the life she could have rather than the life she has been living.

This story takes us on a heartwarming story filled with humor, romance and emotion as we get to see a relationship develop between both couples as they as well as Justin find the love and family they all need in their life.

Great summer read! Plenty of feels, laughs and heart warming family in the making. Ivey is a small town veterinarian who has big heart for not only her furry patients but to legged people too, she's just out of a going nowhere relationship when she meets newly father Corbin. Corbin has moved to the small town to get to know his ten year old son-one he had no idea he had when he meets the intriguing warm hearted vet. But Corbin doesn't come alone, no he has a older brother and boisterous mother. Corbin's brother spies the shy Hope who has baggage of her own. Great heart warming story as this group become a family.

Summer of No Attachments is the second book in the Summer Friends series. This works totally as a stand alone, so you won't be lost if you haven't read the first book, The Somerset Girls. This year has been struggle with reading slumps and searching for books that I can devour. I have found a few, but they have been few and far between. This book was just what I have been looking for and was a great way to kick off the summer. It's a beautiful story about love, friendship and finding family where you least expect it.

I loved this dual romance. Both couples were wonderful and I was rooting for them. There was little angst and the romance was easy and lovely between the couples. For Corbin and Ivey, love came as a surprise. So much for a "summer of no attachments". But how could Ivey resist little Justin and his handsome father Corbin? It was a bit slower for Hope and Lang. Hope's story was heartbreaking and I thought it was handled very well. Lang was amazing with the way took his time with Hope. This will be a great book to just get lost in the summer. I highly recommend it.

This is such a feel good romance where you fall in love with the characters from the get-go. The brothers Corbin and Lang, oh my word - they felt like the kind of guys you would want to know, want to spend time with, want to look at and want to love with all your heart. Lori Foster did such a wonderful job with the characters in this book - I felt like I was sitting in the vet clinic, catching up on the gossip in their lives, when reading about the interactions between Ivey and Hope. If all of that wasn't enough to make a fantastic read, there's the family element woven into this with the adorable Justin - a boy, basically dumped by his mother, to live with a father he has never known. The life of 5 individuals comes together in such a sweet way, each facing their own fresh starts, in different ways - leaving a stale relationship, building the foundation of a father/son relationship, learning to trust others after a horrible event in the past, and relocating for family. It was great to also see a nod to familiar characters - Autumn and Ember. I love when an author subtly ties stories together. If you're a fan of romance books, which is a genre that will always be number one in my heart, I highly recommend picking up The Summer of No Attachments as your next summer read!

I will always love the fact that Lori Foster combines strong independent women with equally strong men in her books to back them up. The family dynamics of her books just always sets a wonderful tone and I couldn’t be happier with how this book turned out.

Corbin was a great dad to Justin in this book but like every dad he doubts himself at times. That’s where his great family background comes in. I loved all of his past family stories and when his brother Lang comes to town that just adds to the story. They are young Justin’s biggest champions of his tiniest wins and I love it. They take whatever little love he starts to give out freely. Corbin doesn’t quite have a tragic past or anything he is dealing with being a single parent and a toxic ex relationship which can be tricky.

Ivey and Hope had just decided to have a Summer of No Attachments when Corbin shows up. I really enjoyed Ivey’s outspoken personality and how she stood up for Hope at every corner no matter the time of day. I loved their friendship it was so wholesome, everyone should have a friendship like that. They both really evolved as characters in this book but I loved that Ivey just knew how to bond with Justin even if she mis-spoke a time or two.

This book was so soft and lovely! I enjoyed getting to know these characters, and their idyllic small town! Plus, I love how we got 2 romances in one story! 4.5 Stars!

Our primary couple is Ivey & Corbin. Ivey Anders is the local veterinarian in the small town of Sunset, Kentucky. She's just out of a 2-year relationship that was going nowhere fast, and she's ready for some freedom and fun. But, then she meets the new man in town, and his adorable 10-year-old son, and she starts thinking maybe freedom isn't all it's cracked up to be. Corbin Meyer, and his son, Justin, just moved to Sunset for a fresh start. Corbin didn't even know he had a son, until a few months before when the boy's mother dropped him off on Corbin's doorstep, and said she was done and it was his turn. So, he packed up and moved them to a new place to start over, together. He is completely focused on cementing a bond with Justin, but then Ivey shows up, and throws all his plans out the window.

Our secondary couple is Hope & Lang. Hope Mage is Ivey's co-worker at the vet clinic, and she's got some serious trauma in her past that she's still working through. She just rented Corbin's guest house, and she's so excited. She and Ivey are as close as sisters. Lang Meyer is Corbin's older brother, and he comes in town to get to know his nephew. He's drawn to Hope but can tell she's wary. She's finally interested in a man after all these years, and he's determined to take things slowly, and let her get comfortable with him. They both want to see where things can go between them.

Ivey is a very straightforward person, and always says what's on her mind. She's drawn to Corbin from their first meeting and isn't shy about letting him know it. Corbin loves her openness and honesty, and is equally drawn to her, though the timing isn't great. He's still figuring out how to be an instant dad to a sullen 10-year-old, and he's got his hands full. Ivey's ex is still sniffing around, and won't get the hint that they're over, which is causing her stress too. But, their connection is too strong, and they don't want to fight it.

Hope is very timid in general, but especially around men, so feeling drawn to Lang throws her for a loop. She's nervous, but she thinks she's finally ready to let someone in. Lang just sold his business and moved to town because his family is so important to him, and he wants to be there for Justin, and Corbin. He's drawn to Hope, but he worries about her being younger than him, and about her past being an impediment for them moving forward. But they really work hard to make things happen, so they can be together.

I really loved pretty much everything about this story. All our main characters were wonderful, and Justin was a great kid too. Corbin and Lang's mom was a riot as well. There were just a couple things that kept this from being a perfect read for me. I didn't love everything that happened with Justin's mom, even though I'm not sure how that part could have been much different. It was always going to be a problem. But I felt like a lot was still unknown and felt unfinished there, so that didn't work well for me. But, it was such a small part of the overall story that it didn't detract from my love of everything else.

This story was warm, and fun, and a perfect summer read. I enjoyed it so much!

One of my favorite types of stories is those that not only focus on some romance--but those that focus on women's friendships with one another. And this book had both!
This book was a breath of fresh air and such a delight to read!

I was definitely not prepared for this book. But that's a good thing. I love this quote from the book:

"Nothing in life is always easy. But together, it will be easier"

that says so much about the characters and the entire story. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Lang & Hope; Corbin, Ivey & Justin all become a large happy family unit proving that family is about the bonds that you form, not necessarily about the blood that you share.

Ms. Foster is an incredible storyteller and I will read anything she writes.

The Summer of No Attachments by Lori Foster
The Summer Friends #2

What a delightful story this was…actually, two romances in one book and both heartwarming and delightful! Love this author and loved this book!

What I liked:
* Ivey Anders: veterinarian, friend, animal rescue veterinarian, best friend of Hope, just coming out of a stagnant relationship, and ready for change. Loving, giving, caring, direct, delightful…
* Corbin Meyer: IT guru, son, brother, new father to ten year old son, new in town, superb parenting skills and loving family to support him…really liked him.
* Justin: Corbin’s son, sensitive, loving, abused by his mother, anxious, trust issues, wonderful with animals, loved watching him open up.
* Hope Mage: assistant at work and friend to Ivey, trust issues, afraid of men, traumatic experience in the past, tentative, sweet, really liked her and watching her bloom.
* Lang Meyer: Corbin’s older brother, great guy, patient, caring, good with his family, supportive of Corbin, there for Justin & Corbin, great with Hope, a delightful person and perfect for Hope.
* The writing, plot, and feels in the story
* Watching the development of the two romances AND the way Justin was embraced and drawn in by the various other characters
* Learning a bit more about horror movies…
* Vesta: mother of Corbin and Lang, bigger than life, a hugger, raised to great sons into admirable men, in a relationship with a good man.
* Geoff: Ivey’s ex that grew a lot before the end of the book.
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Darcie: mother of Justin, addict, abusive, someone easy to dislike…
* What happened to Hope and the way her family treated her
* Having to say goodbye to such wonderful characters…and wondering what their lives will be like.

Did I like this book? Loved it!
Would I read more by this author? Definitely!

Thank you to the NetGalley, HQN, and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Ivey Anders is a veterinarian who just ended a two year relationship that had been going no where. She plans to spend the summer kicking up her heels, having fun, with no commitments.

Corbin Meyer moved him and his newly discovered ten year old son, Justin, to Sunset, Kentucky for a fresh start. He's determined to give his son a fresh start and the love and protection his addicted mother failed to provide for him.

Hope Mage works with Ivey at her clinic. She is gun shy after being attacked four years ago but with Ivey's friendship and support has rebuilt her life.

Lang Meyer loves his brother and when his brother moved, he sold his business to lend his support, and meet his nephew. He never expected to find love.

Foster writes some of the best feel good romances out there and she doubled down with these two couples. Corbin meet's Hope and Ivey when Hope applies to rent his guesthouse. Ivey not only makes a connection with Corbin but bonds with his quiet, troubled, son over bugs, monster movies, and puppies. Even though Corbin is focused on his son, he quickly changes Ivey's plans for a no attachment summer.

When Lang surprises everyone with his visit, Hope is scared of the strange man on the property, but something about him tells her he won't hurt her. Lang wanted Hope the moment he met her but after hearing about what happened to her, he's determined to win her trust.

Each of these couples and a little boy are dealing with various degrees of life's troubles, but through friendship, adorable pets, and love they manage it together, Sweet reading for a summer day.

Ivey is a veterinarian in a small town and is happy to be living the single life. Every relationship she has had has ended in failure, so she has given up on love. When Ivey meets Corbin and his son Justin, her view on love starts to change. Can she have her career and the family she has always wanted?

Hope works with Ivey in the veterinarian clinic and has also given up on love after a tragic incident when she was a teenager. She has become a loner and is distanced from her family. The only one she trusts is Ivey and their friendship. When Hope meets Corbin’s brother Lang, she starts to feel something she has not felt in a long time.

This was such a sweet story with the bonus of not one, but two romances blossoming. I loved all the characters and was excited to journey through the story with Ivey and Hope. The little boy Justin was just the sweetest character in the story, and I fell in love with him right at the beginning of the book. This was the perfect book to curl up with on a rainy day. Thank you so much to Harlequin, Lori Foster and Netgalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

I really enjoyed this enjoyable summer read. This story is about two brothers and two women who are more like sisters than friends. One has been traumatized from something that happened earlier in her life and one is the complete opposite, but it works. There's a young 10-year-old boy who stole the whole story. For me, this was the perfect storm of a story and with its double love story - it checked all my boxes. Everyone should read this.

4.5*

The Summer of No Attachments by Lori Foster was a terrific story about love, friendship, and found family. This is my favorite of her most recent books- I really loved all the characters and the small town life she created. Corbin and Lang are both definite book husband material, and Ivey and Hope are women you'd love to have as friends. And Justin, oh sweet Justin. I just wanted to hug that boy and protect him and tell him everything would be okay.

While this is not just your typical lighthearted summer read, as it deals with some pretty heavy issues, (view spoiler), it's still a sweet, fun, and very touching, read. Ms. Foster balanced all the elements of this story-the good, the hard, and the heartbreaking, to give us a wonderful book to escape into.

Enjoyed this sweet story, but it did feel predictable and lacked some depth. For a light, easy summer read though, I liked it. The setting and characters made the story work for me, and I am looking forward to more in this series! The love stories were both very sweet and made me smile. It definitely has a hallmark movie feel to it as it’s just has a charming love story with a small town setting.

4.5/5 - Best friends Ivey and Hope work together at Ivey's veterinary clinic. Hope has had a difficult past including leaving her family behind after a bad thing happened and tore them apart. Ivey is like a sister and a mother to her. The book opens with Ivey and Hope working together on an injured dog.

I LOVE that the book opened up with these two women helping an animal. As the book begins, their work is the most important thing in their lives, right along with their friendship. So they were already established as close friends before they met the male love interests in the story. Corbin and his young son Justin moved to town recently, and Hope hoped to rent the small guest house on his lakeside property. Ivey went with Hope to check out the cottage, and this is how they all met. Perfect timing, really, since neither Hope is not in a relationship and Ivey just ended things with her previous boyfriend.

Like the previous book in this series The Somerset Girls, Ivey and Hope each have their own romance storyline. And I think they're both really good. The story does have a small amount of drama and angst with one of the side storylines, but it really is only a tiny amount, and it furthered the story for all of the characters. I'm learning that Lori Foster's women's fiction romances are a huge delight to read. Not stressful at all. They make me happy.

I love that the love interests, Corbin and Lang (brothers!) are so respectful of Ivey and Hope. I also love that they all became one big, closeknit family. It is such a joy to read about a group of people that love one another so much, and want to help one another, and have common goals. Justin, Corbin's young son, made me smile because of his love for animals and horror movies. His part of the story really tugged at my heart.

This book has been my most anticipated summer read since the very minute I first found out about it. I loved The Somerset Girls so much last year and it thrilled me so much to see that Ms. Foster would be writing another book set in the same place. It was an added bonus that Ember (from the first book) made a small appearance. And the animals included in the story made me smile. Daisy the dog and Maurice the cat made my heart swell. I loved every time they were on the page.

I've been meaning to go back and begin reading Ms. Foster's romance stories. I need to do that sooner rather than later. I love the way she writes relationships and I adore her settings and the inclusion of animals. I read this book in just a few hours, I couldn't put it down. I'm already looking forward to her next women's fiction/romance story.

Foster can always be relied upon to deliver a good story, well-written and featuring great characters. The Summer Of No Attachments is another fun read.

Ivey’s just gotten out of a boring, go nowhere (literally and emotionally 😁) relationship and vows to have a summer where she enjoys dating but stays free of romantic entanglements. This resolution last mere days, if even that. She meets Corbin and his son, Justin, and though the relationship is a slow burn it’s quick to become their norm. She begins by helping them find a dog and is soon spending all her spare time with Corbin, Justin and Corbin’s brother, Lang.

Ivey’s dear friend and employee, Hope, has been traumatized.and is way too wary of men. Somehow Lang is able to very slowly work his way under her super reinforced armor and with amazing patience he’s able to get her to feel safe with him. When these two start spending a lot of time together the happy group grows to five.

Justin’s mother dropped him off with Corbin who never knew he had a son. Corbin is immediately committed to be a great parent to Justin but it takes a bit for Justin to recognize a good parent’s behaviors and to trust his dad. Corbin is amazing. Just what ever hero should be. He’s great with Ivey and is contented taking their time committing to a relationship and places his first emphasis on getting Justin settled. He’s wealthy but a hard worker. He’s caring and gentle with both Ivey and his son. He’s sexy and confident. Yep, I’d date him in a heart beat!

Foster always creates fully rounded characters and I loved each of these people. Even Justin’s mom is treated well despite her inadequacies, poor patently skills and addiction. There’s just a little suspense in this story but it adds nicely. Corbin and Langs’s mom is a loving, chaotic hoot!

I like Foster’s books with even more suspense and lots of strife, however short-lived, between the characters. For this reason alone, I gave the book 4 and not 5 stars. It’s a nice read. Maybe a bit too “nice”.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the ARC.

Ivey is a vet who runs her own practice. Hope is her friend and assistant. Both are definitely not looking for love or anything long term. Corbin and his son Justin are new to town and looking for a new dog. They all meet and bond over dog advice. A great story about friendship and love and resolving past issues. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance.

Another great story from one of my favorite authors, Lori Foster. Such an awesome story, with two women who have pretty much given up on love, who meet two guys(brothers) and fall in love. Add in a dog and her puppies, a cat and you get a great summertime read.
