Love, care, respect and trust can make a difference in a child, adult, or animal's life where there has been neglect or abuse. Lori Foster brings all these aspects together in a heartwarming story. Two strong men, Corbin & Lang, who understand the importance of family, meet quirky Ivey and shy Hope. You'll get drawn into these relationships as they open themselves up to possibilities. Ten year old Justin will steal your heart and how he cares and loves his dog will pull on your heartstrings. I hope Foster brings his character to his own story.

Ivey is the local VET and decides to end it with her current boyfriend and have a time to herself. Then she meets Corbin and his son Justin. Corbin had just learned he is a DAD to a 10 year old boy. I loved Justin. Corbin moved to Sunset to give him and his son a fresh start. I liked the story of Ivey and Corbin, but really liked the story of Hope more. This is a good summer read.

I love basically anything Lori Foster writes and this book did not disappoint! Just a wonderful read and I truly enjoyed reading this book. I binged it in a day! Highly recommend you pick it up ASAP!

We start with Ivy, a local veterinarian, who wants to make some changes in her life. So she ends her dead-end relationship with one guy and decides to be on her own or maybe have a casual time with someone. Enter Corbin, a man who just found out he’s the father of a 10 year old when Justin’s mother dumps him on his doorstep. They move to Sunset to start fresh. We also get a wonderful side story with Ivy’s best friend Hope, who was almost raped when she was younger and is healing from that trauma, and Corbin’s brother Lang. They all learn so much about each other throughout the summer, growing closer as they learn to open up to possibilities and hope as they let go of the past!

It was the perfect start of summer read. Foster does a wonderful job developing all the characters in the book and the emotional tackling of serious issues was soo well written (single parenting, sexual assault, trust, hope, friendship and more). The focus on Justin was such a tearjerker. Reading the progression of his storyline from unwanted child to his mother to beyond loved by the dad he just met. Loved this focus on family. Who doesn’t like a story with animals and a sweet young child!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Such a delightful family story with two romances!

Ivey is the small town veterinarian, and her best friend, Hope, is her assistant. Ivey is a little disillusioned about relationships, while Hope is beyond skittish due to past trauma.

Corbin moves into the area looking for a change of scenery for both himself and his recently-discovered ten-year-old son, Justin. His brother, Lang, soon joins them to help Justin acclimate to his newly-found family.

Written in third person, this story does an amazing job of giving us all four MCs points of view. I loved how Justin was able to open up to the new adults in his life through his love of animals, and I appreciated that his anxieties weren't just glossed over with his new situation. Both romances were very sweet and tender, yet very different and well-suited to the particular needs of each couple.

There's a lot of life-changing activities packed into one short summer, but it's beautifully done and captivating from start to finish. The epilogue was exquisite, giving us the HEA for both couples in the most romantic way possible. This heartwarming story is not to be missed. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received an ARC of The Summer of No Attachments from Netgalley, and this is my honest review.

The Summer of No Attachments is a warm sweet story about Ivey and Hope, each of them has something they need to be free of and in comes the brothers Corbin and Lang. Each story could very well be a standalone but it is so much better together and I love when her books connect with another and this one connect with one of my all time favorites the Somerset Girls. When Ivey accompanies Hope to look at a house to rent Ivey falls for the homeowner and his son Justin and soon Lang joins the family and he falls for Hope. It's a wonderful story with all the players interacting and of course there is Daisy and the puppies. Ivey is a veterinarian and she was tending to Daisy and her puppies and grew very attached but when Justin showed her how much he loved Daisy she knew she found the right home for the dog.

Oh good this book was just too sweet for words, I couldn't stop crying, Corbin and Ivey and their love story was just so sweet my goodness this is all I can seem to say.

Corbin is a single dad who just recently moved into town, he has a son Justin who he just recently got custody of, and he has his work cut out for him, but its amazing how he adapts to his son, and their new life, its just amazing to see, I tried to hold back tears. Then we have Ivey the towns Vet, and she meets Corbin by coincidence thanks to Hope, her assistant, wanting someone to accompany her to see the new place she wanted to rent out, and there we have it! POW sparks all of that JAZZ!!! and then some.

Ivey just recently broke up with her ex, and she told herself she was going to have NO ATTACHMENTS this summer, and we all know that didn't work out, lol. She falls hard and there is also another amazing romance growing in this book as well and even sweeter love with Corbin's son. OMG the TEARS!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Review: This is the 2nd book of the Summer Friends series. This could be read as a standalone book, but the characters and storylines are so good that I encourage you to read them all.

Small-town living in Sunset, Kentucky is enough for veterinarian Ivey Anders after breaking off from a long-term relationship from someone who doesn’t understand that it’s over. Well, maybe not quite. Her grumpy cat keeps her company, but she’s really looking for a bit of carefree fun, unlike her best friend and co-worker Hope. Hope is very uncomfortable around men and seems to only be close to Ivey.

Enter new resident Corbin, who discovered that he’s a father to 10 year old Justin and now has full-time custody. Corbin and Ivey strike up a relationship for fun, but we watch as it blooms into something more. Hope is able to slowly open up to Lang, Corbin’s brother, who’s arrived to meet his nephew. The book is both heartbreaking and heartwarming as we learn about Hope’s past, Justin’s struggles to fit in, Corbin’s insecurities as a new father, and Ivey’s insistence that fun is all she needs. As an animal lover, I really appreciated the addition of Maurice and rescue dog Daisy and her three puppies.

Note: I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is my own.

Contemporary Romance

Sunset, Kentucky – Present Day

Veterinarian Ivey Anders has broken up with her do-nothing boyfriend and vows to not get involved in another relationship for the foreseeable future. But once she meets single father Corbin Meyer, she might be changing her tune. Corbin is a man who soon becomes a good friend, but one she also finds attractive. After her recent failed relationship, Ivey is treading carefully because of trust issues, but Corbin is soon breaking down her barriers. It helps that she is also drawn to his son, Justin. Corbin only recently learned about Justin and relocated to Sunset to help with the transition of being a parent to his son.

Ivey’s assistant, Hope, is also wary of male relationships after nearly being raped by her sister’s fiancé, and then having her parents blame her for what happened. Shortly after meeting Corbin and Justin, Corbin’s brother, Lang, arrives in town to meet his new nephew. Lang is affable and fun to be around, and soon, Hope’s defenses are drawn down. Meanwhile, a dog that Ivey rescued gives birth to several puppies. Justin is drawn to the mama dog and her puppies, providing a way to connect with the Meyer family. As Corbin and Ivey grow closer, will it turn into something more than a friendship? What about Ivey’s vows to stay single instead of jumping into a new relationship?

After failing at relationships, Ivey planned to have a summer of no attachments but got derailed when she fell for Corbin. She is a busy vet and adores animals, so introducing Justin to a menagerie of animals is a good way to break the ice between a father and son who just discovered each other. Justin’s mother didn’t tell Corbin she was pregnant, and the only reason she contacted him now was that she is a drug addict and wanted to have fun without a child around. Ivey turns out to be a good influence on Justin, as it helps open up the channels of communication between father and son while bonding together around animals.

Hope is grateful for her friendship with Ivey since her family has turned their back on her. Meeting Lang, Hope is intrigued by him, and it helps that he is not pushy when it comes to wanting to bed her. It is Hope who finally pushes their relationship further. Will it lead to the bedroom? Is there a future for them? As for Ivey, she begins to spend more and more time with Corbin and Justin. Is a ready-made family forming? When it comes time to admit she is in love with Corbin, will Ivey stall for more time?

THE SUMMER OF NO ATTACHMENTS is a great summer read for those who love a romance that leaves you feeling good inside. It has it all: romance, animals, and a child who will wrap you around his little finger. Readers know that everyone is probably headed for a happily-ever-after. Don’t miss the tingly goodness of THE SUMMER OF NO ATTACHMENTS.

There is a lot going on in this book... a. lot.
CW: attempted rape, abandonment, addiction, abuse.
Like I said... a lot going on. I know there were many five star reviews so obviously this book connected with many readers, but unfortunately, I was not one of them. The storylines were too choppy and too many to ever connect with one fully. I am also not an animal lover, so maybe the frequent animal references and situations just weren't of interest to me....
Overall it was a nice story, but not enough depth to keep me interested.

Thank you to NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada) for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

The Summer of No Attachments was a really sweet romance story. I read The Somerset Girls right before this one and felt like it was very similar plot lines. They both are very fluffy and quick reads. I liked the characters and the plot was easy to stay intrigued.
I didn’t love how quickly the romance progressed though, they both were instant love and within weeks went straight to marriage. Neither were realistic, but it’s still a cute read.

Love Lori's summer books as they are normally a great source of two stories in one!

Ivey and Hope are as close as sisters. Ivey is just getting out of a bad/not for her relationship. Hope is still trying to move beyond her past. Enter the Meyer brothers. Corbin moved to give his new to him son a fresh start. Lang moved to help out. These two couples together light up the pages. The story flew by and in a very short period of time, I realized I was at the end.

Great story telling!!!

Ivey Anders has had it with relationships, she invests the time, puts her whole heart in it, and then is left disappointed when it goes nowhere. It's time to give up on attachments for a while and just experience what life's throws her way. She is going to take on the no-strings approach to romance for a while, she doesn't need long term or forever... just a mister right now. But then she meets Corbin Meyer, and he isn't the mister right now type, he's more of the forever kind of guy, and letting him pass through her life would be a shame. Is it wrong that she wants to change her mind on forever?

Hope Mage has a tainted view on love, it's fine for her friends and everyone around her, but just not possible for her. Past incidents have left her guarded, unwilling to try when it comes to relationships, and so it's better just to be single. Then she meets charming and kind-hearted Lang Meyer, and suddenly that view on love of hers starts to shift!

The Summer of No Attachments is the story of two friends that haven't had the best luck in the love department, so they decide that taking the summer off from love seems like the perfect idea. Then they meet the Meyer brothers and suddenly their little plan is derailed. These two men bring them a sense of happiness and joy they never thought they would find. As the story progresses you see these two women shift their stance on love, grow exponentially, and find the happily ever after kind of happiness they both thought they'd never find. If you are looking for the perfect summer reading escape then look no further, what you find waiting for you between the pages of The Summer of No Attachments is destined to touch your heart and leave you smiling!

Ivey is a vet in a small town, Hope works for her.
Ivey has been in relationship with Geoff for two years, but she is done with it, there is no spark. After ending this relationship she decides that, this will be her Summer of no attachments. How wrong she was, she'll find out pretty soon, as soon she meets Corbin and his son Justin.
This book is about Hope and Lang, who is Corbin's brother.
I have to say, this book is amazingly written. Characters are wonderful.
Foster is my to go author, I don't know, how she write books better and better.
This one is so far my favorite one.
Awesome, amazing, wonderful.

What a fantastic book as always. Lori gets to the heart of her characters creating a beautiful story with road blocks all along the road. I really enjoyed every aspect of the story. Ivey looking for no attachments since her breakup. Hope an introvert because of past trauma. Corbin his brother Lang along with Justin the son Corbin just found out about. They all show how time heals the heart and with love you can overcome the things that brought you down. I also loved the animals with always add the extra love. I was an ARC and my review is based solely on my opinions.

Such a sweet romance, that follows two best friends who work in a veterinary clinic, and two brothers, one who has recently found out he's the father of a ten-year-old son. A son that was kind of dumped in his lap as his mother abandoned him...

Hope and Ivey are both excellent characters, with no time for romance. Ivey has recently left her long-time boyfriend, and Hope has been single for the whole time Ivey has known her. Corbin and his son have moved to their little town, and Hope is looking to rent a small house on his property.

I'm not usually a fan of romances that follow two couples, however, this time, I loved it! Two best friends, and two brothers who are also close just really did it for me.

The Summer of No Attachments is a well-written contemporary romance that deals with some difficult themes, but that also resolves some of them through hard work, a lot of talking, and trying to forgive.

A definite recommendation from me.

The Summer of No Attachments: A Novel (Kindle) by Lori Foster
Five stars is not enough for this book .. this one took my heart and squeezed it and then made it grow. I have never fallen in love with so many people in one book. Corbin and Ivey (and Justin) then add Hope and Lang not to mention all the animals. I'm not going to spoil their stories here but just know I have never laughed and cried (both kinds of tears) so much while reading a book in a very long time. All the feelings .. happiness, sadness, found feelings, trauma, angst, wonderful family dynamics and some bad ones, enough steam and just plain wonderful HEA's.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Witty Romantic Page-turner Tragic Great world building Easy-to-read Funny Happily Ever After Entertaining Wonderful characters Tear-jerker Steamy

Enjoyable read, but there was no real build up to the love interest. They met, they moved in together almost immediately and then fell in love. There are some emotional moments and a few tear worthy scenes. I received this as an advanced reader copy for my honest review.
