This book contains A LOT of good information. It is easily the most thorough book on mindfulness that I have read and I’ve read quite a few. I learned a lot of new terms and had a few a-ha moments; however, I really felt like this book read like a textbook in that it was rather boring and not as inspirational as may other texts on mindfulness try to be and that the author would over-explain many points making it an unnecessarily long read.

That criticism being made, I do think it’s a good book for the right audience! If you’ve been practicing for a little while and want to take your practice to the next level, check it out! However, if you’re brand new to mindfulness and looking for an inspiring introduction there are other books out there full of great information that are shorter easier reads.

This book was received as an ARC from DK - Alpha in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I have read so many self-help books and they all focus on Mindfulness and its importance but Lani Muelrath took an informative approach to this book basically Mindfulness 101. It's important to develop a regular practice in Mindfulness so you can live your best life, discover the person who you really are, accept who you really are and be the person you want to be. This book also focuses on the positive results of being more mindful and the positive impact you have on your life and for those you love and care about.

We will consider adding this title to our Self-Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This book has been especially helpful to me in considering the different ways I might be tempted to get ahead of myself and in fact, get in my own way because of hurrying about through unintentional reactions to life. The exercises on breathing and growing in awareness of one's environment and actions are transformative. The narrative flows well and is easy to follow and understand. I'm sure everyone could gain value from this comprehensive book, one for which I plan to buy extra copies.

Since I read and write mostly for Christian audiences, I'd recommend this book to Christians who are very mature in their faith and can separate and discern distinctions between Christian and Buddhist teachings. In my own way, I can focus on my breath and consider the nearness of God, the indwelling Holy Spirit that never leaves His own.

Thanks for this helpful book!

Let me say that I love that the book first starts by telling readers what mindfulness is. This is great because so many people might have their own definitions. I love to learn, so....learning the Buddhist roots was so fun! I am not a history lover but I did enjoy learning this!

We move from learning some history to learning the vast amounts of benefits of mindfulness, then into how it actually works! I truly love how in-depth and educational this book is, giving the reader a better understanding of how our minds work and why we are not naturally mindful.

This book is one that anyone that is looking to do some self-improvement should look into. These 12 principles of Mindfulness are something I think we should all learn to live by. What a wonderful book! I will be sharing this with all of my friends and likely buying a hard copy for my personal collection.

Mindfulness is a practice that we’d all do well to observe. I requested this book because I’m currently in therapy and looking to branch out in a way that I’m more able to work on issues alone, so this book is so helpful for that.

Thanks so much to NetGalley, DK Publishing, Lani Muelrath, and Domyo Sater Burk for the opportunity to read this book in return for honest feedback.
