Dangerous Ground by Rachel Grant a five-star read that will be dangerous for your heart. This is number one in the Fiona Carver series and I can not wait for the next instalment, I hadn’t read this author’s work before this story, but my goodness there was something about it, that hooked me in and demanded that I go and purchase some more as I wasn’t willing to leave the writing style behind. This story will keep you gripped, the attention to detail was thrilling and so well done, it was nice to see a character so aware of the surroundings and the passion that Fiona has for her subject, you can imagine being there with her, putting everything else aside just to make sure that she has every detail down and the history recorded for posterity. Then when you throw Dean in with his ability to capture every detail in a different light, you seem to have a match made in heaven, but when heaven happens to involve a Volcano and Volcanologist who is also wrapped into the story so well, heaven isn’t what it appears. This story will grip your heart, there is drama a plenty, but well-done drama and it will keep you guessing and even when you know, you are always wondering do you really know. This story has more layers than the Volcano at its heart, and it just makes it such a compelling and interesting story I am eagerly awaiting what will happen next with Fiona Carver.

Omg this book is fantastic!! I love Rachel Grant, she brings archaeology to life ! This book is about Fiona (archaeologist) and Dean (Photographer / Dylan's brother). <spoiler>There seems to be a slight cliff-hanger ending- not in the mystery but in the relationship... This is new for Rachel Grant... usually each book involves a couple and there is at least a "Happy for now" ending; not so this time.</spoiler> I really enjoyed the banter and sexual tension in this book, and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

I'm not sure if I'm being too needy ahahah, but for a romance book I expected just that bit more romance. However, this read was still very detailed and had likeable characters, so if the romance picks up in book 2 then I am sold!

This is the first book I've read by this author and it wasn't what I expected. Very detailed driven and sometimes I did find my concentration waining a bit. However it was a good story with complex characters, not going to lie, I do wish there was a wee bit more romance but I guess that will be addressed in the next book

In Dangerous Ground, Rachel Grant introduces us to her new series featuring archaeologist Fiona Carver. As with all this authors books we are taken to a new location with a fascinating history and plenty of suspense and romance.

This story mainly takes place on the Aleutian Islands which mostly belong to Alaska. They are a chain of 14 large volcanic islands and 55 smaller islands. They have been around for centuries and have tons of history associated with them.

Fiona is part of an expedition and her part is to document the discovery of a prehistoric village and recover missing artifacts. Their last mission was cut short and now they are finally allowed to return to the islands.

Dean Slater, professional wildlife photographer, twin brother Dylan is missing. He was the volcanologist on Fiona's team. Someone is trying to make Dean think that Dylan is just away somewhere taking time off. He knows his brother would never be out of communication with him this long. He decides to go undercover on the expedition as a ornithologist.

Fiona and Dean both have emotionally traumatic issues from their past which still effect them today. Those things are both an advantage and hindrance in their eventual teaming to search for Dylan. Unfortunately those issue prevent any form of relationship commitment which I assume will be addressed in the next book.
