What a totally engulfing novel about how far people will go to help a child trapped by demon. Even though the demon wanted Shya, she kept resisting. She had to fight for the child and her mother’s soul. While she thought she had no one to love her, she found that she was surrounded by love and family. When she opened her heart, she found that she had many people in her corner, ready to take on the demon. The outcome of the battle was good and also bad. I will not give spoilers so you will have to read this book to discover what happened.

This is the first book by Theresa Dale that I have read. It’s the first book in a new series. I love supernatural subject matter. This book is a great example of that. Shya has a gift. She can see and hear ghosts. She’s a member of the Seers, the name for a group of misfits, all of whom have some time of “gift”. Together, Shya and the Seers must fight against the odds to save the life and soul of a possessed child.
This book hooked me immediately. The characters were well-rounded and I loved the Seers. Each one was vivid and different in his or her own way. The story was fun and well-written. The ending was a cliffhanger of sorts. Clearly, I’ll need to read the second book. Oh well! Tough job but someone has to do it!
