I love this author and this was my second time reading this book. I loved it as much as when I read it before. Wonderful writer!

I'm always looking for great books of short stories. I travel quite often so need something to read that I can keep track of the story without alot of effort if it's awhile between reads. My friend recommended this book and it's exactly what I look for and more. The stories are great. Rosamunde Pilcher is an author I read on an off and on basis but I always enjoy her books. The stories here are perfect small bites of the lives of real people who just need a little romance in their lives. Something a few of us need every now and then. This book would make a great gift for someone you know or a great starter for anyone not familiar with Pilcher's writing. Definitely a 5 start read for me.

Rosamunde Pilcher is one of my all time favorite authors. Something went wrong, and this isn't on my kindle. But I will be buying it and reviewing it on my own. Sorry.

This is a lovely book of short stories that you’ll read over and over again. The book takes you away, even if it’s just for a little bit. I picked it up and put it down several times whenever I needed a distraction. Wonderful collection, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

I adore this collection of short stories. Rosamunde Pilcher is a new author to me, but I went and bought a couple of her books after reading this one.

This is an anthology of fifteen short stories by the author. They have not been published by book before.
St Martin's Press and Edelweiss let me read this book for review (thank you). It will be published July 27th.

These stories are all stories of romance. Sometimes it was a romance that resulted in breaking up. Then they meet later and decide they still love each other. Sometimes it's new romance. And sometimes it's a familiar path of love.

Each story is well put together. The author has a way of making you care about her characters.

This is the first new book for for Ms. Pilcher in a while. It's a good read.

I picked this one not realizing it was an anthology of her short stories. I read several of them in it, but was unable to finish the whole thing. It definitely gave me my Pilcher vibe that I've missed since she left us, but I was good after a couple of the stories. She tends to use a lot of the same tropes and formulas for her stories, so they feel a lot the same after you read a bunch in a row. Her work is refreshing though because it isn't traditional style. She's got low mystery, lots of angst and surprise endings to keep us on our toes. These stories fit the same bill and when I miss her I will probably pick this up and read a few more.

Thank you to her family and her publisher for giving us a great last book from a favorite author to keep us warm at night for years to come.

Remember Rosamunde Pilcher? She wrote The Shell Seekers? Here we have a collection of her printed short stories. Sweet, outdated, softly romantic. Beautiful, sweeping descriptions of lovely surroundings. The majority of these short stories feature a capable and independent girl romantically getting the man of her heart to marry her and live happily ever after. (There are two stories are about later-in-life regrets). This collection which is seemingly comprised of pieces published in magazines and newspapers, was written around forty years ago, and definitely seems dated.

However, I needed this. I needed the hallmark-style sweet romances, and the mild, heart-warming plots. My own daughter’s lovely boyfriend who stuck with her through Covid and for the last year when she was away at college, who became a fixture of our family and traveled with us on vacations, stopped calling her after only his second week away at a college that is different from hers. Surprising? I suppose not. But so sad for her, as she pictured a different outcome, and sad for our family as well. Sigh. If only life were a Rosamunde Pilcher story.

Recommended for hopeless romantics who need some happy endings in their lives.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book! #APlaceLikeHome #NetGalley.

I have enjoyed Rosamunde Pilcher's longer works. This volume of short stories reflected her engaging writing style together with her creation of cozy settings. She was also able to develop sympathetic characters in very few pages. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.

Whether you read one story a day or plow them all, you don’t need to have read this author before as you will be enthralled by her writing style. So many topics covered in these stories to appeal to all readers. I plan to reread this again.

I really enjoyed this collection of 15 short sweet love stories. All written by Rosamunde Pilcher and debuted in this book. All the ladies are strong women who display some diverse characteristics. From long married couples to second chances at love the stories are very different. Ms. Pilcher has many full length novels and some are classics. This book should appeal to many age groups and would be a perfect gift for a busy reader. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this short story collection.

I first learned about Rosamunde Pilcher this summer when I read The Shell Seekers with my book club; Because I enjoyed that so much, I jumped at the chance to read this collection of short stories by Pilcher. I was fortunate to receive an advanced audiobook copy as well so I followed along while listening. This was the perfect summer short story collection as several of the stories were centered around vacations or took place at least partially on a beach. The overall impression I was left with is that home sometimes "home" can be found in being with those we love.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Place Like Home is a charming book of short stories by Rosamunde Pilcher. Each story, in some way, weaves a magical tale of lost loves, unfulfilled dreams, strength, promise, love, and hope—basically, the utter randomness of life. Here we have an incredible cast of characters who realize that life is a little bit fate, a little bit choice and that when we find a rare moment of bliss, we should take it. I loved the descriptive prose, the strong females, and the ability of all to say “yes” when they could say no. This book was like a warm hug. Well done! #love #chance #fate #choices #life @netgalley @stmartinspress

This collection of short stories is a warm cozy hug that we all NEED in our lives. I adore Rosamunde Pilcher and this just reinforces the idea that I need to pick up Winter Solstice this winter and sink in. I loved the illustrations between stories. I loved that they all had a happy ending. If I have pressed Maeve Binchy or Rosamunde into your hands, you probably need this one, too.

What an emotional roller coaster! Each short story was better than the last. Just when I started to predict what would happen in the story, Rosamunde Pilcher would change the scenario and surprise me. And I appreciated that all the stories weren't romantic but also celebrated friendship, family and strong women. I would definitely read more books by this author!

Rosamunde Pilcher has a true gift for storytelling. Her collection of short stories in A Place Like Home is about love, growth, and fate. Each story is beautifully rendered and left me wanting more. A Place Like Home soothed my restless mind.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the opportunity to read this book. The opinions in this review are entirely my own.

I am a longtime fan of authors like Belva Plain, Maeve Binchy and Rosamund Pilcher, all authors who can lift a reader’s spirits when things in life start to overwhelm them. Their warm and gentle stories are the perfect way to spend a quiet afternoon. Needless to say, when I discovered a new collection of short stories by Ms. Pilcher (who passed away in 2019) was being released this year, I was overjoyed.

The title of this new offering “A PLACE LIKE HOME “ is so very appropriate since Ms. Pilcher’s writing always provides that same warm, cozy feeling one gets when they return to home and hearth.

Most stories in this collection are a short glimpse into the life of someone dealing with problems such as love, loss, and life’s uncertainties and leave the reader to decide outcome of each situation.

A thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an afternoon……or if you prefer…….to enjoy slowly, perhaps only reading one story an evening and savoring each situation. It’s up to you.

This is a lovely group of short stories by an amazing icon of an author who has sadly left us. I have read several of her books over the years. The way she writes a story ensures that it will stay with the reader for a very long time.

The short stories here are delightfully written with a mixture of humor, sadness, and insight into life. I enjoyed the magnificent descriptions for which the author is well known, plus the art work at the beginning of each short story is breath-taking. Reading this grouping of stories with their old-fashioned settings was like a nostalgic trip a bit back in time.

I’m sure readers will enjoy these stories whether they have read the author before or not.

Who doesn't love Rosamunde?? I have read all of her books and this book of short stories is just perfect. I read every night in my bed. It helps me to clear my mind and relax. This book is perfect. I read one or two of the short stories and it is just enough time to drift off to sleep dreaming of living in one of the small villages Ms. Pilcher wrote about. Her descriptions are like no other. You can feel the cool grass under your feet, the sounds of the river beside your favorite tree or the smell of the flowers in your tea garden.

My favorite author is Rosamunde Pilcher. Her books are like a breath of fresh air. I treasured each short story.
There is love in each story. If you need a book to just read a short span of time this would wonderfully.
