I really enjoyed Nicola May's Cockleberry Bay series of books do I was delighted to receive an early preview copy of this book which is the first book in a new series.
This book is set in Cornwall which is a favourite place of mine. I have not been able to visit it much due to Lockdown, so it's nice to be able to visit there through a book.
There are a few surprises in this book, which I won't mention as it might spoil the book. There were a lot of funny moments and some romance. It also has themes of grief and abusive relationships as well as coming to terms with the past. There was also a couple of mysteries to solve. Overall it was an enjoyable read though.
There were a lot of likeable characters and I am looking forward to reading more about them in the next book in the series. I especially liked Kara's Grandad and Frank. I would love to visit his diner if it was a real place. There was a real sense of community in Ferry Lane Market.
I liked reading about the various flowers that Kara was working with as well as the descriptions and meanings of the flowers that she used. I thought that she put a lot of feelings into her floral displays. I also loved hearing about the history of some of the other places that featured in the book.
This was an easy and heartwarming read. I enjoyed reading this book and I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Oh my goodness did I love this book!!
Kara, a 33 year old girl, lives in her beloved Hartmouth, with her dad, who works as a ferry boatman, and Grandad Harry. She works in a Florist, which she has done for years, but never quite got to college to learn the industry, but she is a natural!!
She's in a loveless 8 year relationship, but everybody in the village of Hartmouth love her to bits, but she doesn't quite see it!! She constantly puts herself down, and can't quite see what everyone else does.
She ends up going abroad, on a trip, but who has arranged it all?
This was a super first book of a new series by Nicola May!! I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a heartwarming, lovely, story, and very therapeutic!!

Set in beautiful Cornwall, this book is about self care, family, pursuing dreams, new beginnings and love. Kara Moon finally decides enough is enough with her parasitic boyfriend and, to everyone's relief, breaks up with him. Her single dad and grandfather as well as many friends are more than happy to support her. To replace lost income and grow her savings, Kara offers a bedroom in her flat as an Airbnb accommodation, including sumptuous breakfast at a beloved cafe. Her renters are varied but have something in common. She also learns she is valued and treasured.

Other characters' lives and relationships evolve as well. Kara is contemplative and reflective and though she is surrounded by those who love her, she remains unfulfilled so makes further changes. The story is kicked up a notch when out of the blue a postcard arrives, inviting her to leap into an adventure which takes her to places she had only dreamed of before. As an international travel myself, this sort of thing always captures my attention.

Whilst well written I found most characters to be incredibly shallow and unconvincing. I'm also not fond of characters jumping in and out of relationships. But the premise was interesting.

Nicola May is onto the start of another winning series here, as I loved Welcome to Ferry Lane Market and already feel the wait for the next book will be too long to cope with!

Admittedly I did find it took a while to feel fully at home with this book, I was missing Hot the dog from Cockleberry Bay (from the author's previous series), although a cat called James Bond and a terrapin called Sid Vicious are great animal companions, to go alongside Kara, and everyone at Ferry Lane market.

I really took to Kara quite quickly and once I sorted out all the other characters I was fully engrossed in the story, The sheer amount of story, character developments, surprises that are jam packed into this book is so impressive, and it all works together so well.

For me the book really took off to another gear of my love of it when the plane ticket to New York that is mentioned in the blurb, happens. I won't go into details as its far enough into the story that it would be spoilery - but the travel lover in me was loving Kara who has barely never left Cornwall, suddenly abroad and seeing how she sees the world, and gains confidence is just so wonderful to see.

Kara is loyal to her family, who I really enjoyed getting to know, has a fab best friend, Star, and a nightmare of a boss who clearly doesn't appreciate Kara.

Full of heart, mystery, laughter, travel, hear warming moment, humour, romance, mystery, set to a great back drop with incredibly real characters that you will take to your heart, this is a gem of a book!

There is just so much to love about this book, and feel like it has set up the rest of the series perfectly, given how much I really want to read the next book instantly!

This was SO GOOD. Okay, I will admit there were parts that ticked me off a bit, BUT despite this, it was still SO GOOD. The small seaside town setting coupled with loveable characters it would be almost impossible for the book to flop. I actually cried because of a certain heartbreaking moment in the book that shall not be mentioned for the sake of avoiding spoilers. Overall, Welcome to Ferry Lane Market was a great book and I cannot wait for the rest of the series.

A light hearted summer read full of characters and a nice cosy feeling. I enjoyed this book. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

I liked this book but can't say I loved it. I did like the way the town where Kara lives was described. James Bond the cat made me laugh. I felt for Sid Vicious - did that have to happen? I liked the supporting characters. Kara's travels were entertaining. I'm not sure what's keeping me from giving a higher rating - possibly Kara's character.

Kara is a 30 something florist living with in an abusive partner in a flat on a cornish estuary. This book is all about her waking up to life and realising that she is an amazing woman. I nice read with some twists and turns on the way leaving it open on a secret and a definite sequel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a delightful read! This is the first book I’ve read from Nicola May, so I had no idea what her writing would be like! I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Kara Moon through several losses and then her fight to find her true self and strength she never knew she possessed! While this is a story of romance, it’s also a story of finding what’s truly meaningful in life!

This is the first Nicola May book I’ve read so I didn’t have any particular expectation but I thoroughly enjoyed it and raced through it. The lovely character Kerensa (Kara or Kerry to most people) lives in a lovely Cornish village and has worked at the nearby flower shop for years, she had been with her good for nothing boyfriend for eight years but we learn at the start she’s finally decided she’s had enough of his ways. She has a wonderful relationship with her dad and grandad and is much liked in the village and she’s a great star in this character led story. I was really pleased when I reached the end to discover there will be more in the series as it was such an engrossing read and it will be great to learn more about other characters.

Amazing! This was my first book by Nicola May and it certainly won’t be the last.

There were such amazing descriptions of places that I really felt I was there. The characters were brilliantly described and there were many funny interactions. I identified with Kara, she’d spent so long trying to be the safe and sensible one, the one to hold things together that she didn’t know who she really was on her own and I enjoyed watching her journey of self discovery. I loved Billy and the happy carefree relationship he and Kara had, his feelings were on his sleeve all along but Kara never once believed them as her self worth was shattered.
Grandad Harry was the most perfect character and my heart broke along with Kara and the Moon family.
Seeing all her friends rally around her and support her and help her have the most epic adventure was lovely and the twists and turns kept me reading faster and faster. I can’t wait to read more books about these characters.

Having enjoyed the Cockleberry Bay series by this author I was looking forward to this. An easy laid back read with fantastic characters and a charming story, the descriptions felt like I was there. I'm very much looking forward to more in the future.

Welcome to Ferry Lane Market by Nicola May. I haven’t read anything by the author before however have always wanted to and love the covers of her books. To be honest I didn’t know what the book was about was literally drawn to the beautiful cover. Kara Moon is the main character, who loves where she lives in Cornwall however she gave up her dream of going to college to study floristry, as she put the needs of her family first. On the face of it she is happy until things happen that are out of her control, which pushes her into making changes and those changes lead to a while new adventure, with some anonymous help. My review for this book was going to be completely different to what I’ve ended up thinking, it was going to be that it was a nice book and I’m glad I’d read it (along those lines anyway) however my opinion completely changed, you get to the part where there is some anonymous help and the whole perspective of the book changed for me anyway. NetGalley has allowed me this year to try new authors, try different books and for that I’m so grateful because I probably would have never read this one because there was other book and more known authors to me that I would have read first. This story felt real, it felt like that typical Cornish village setting, homely and welcoming and even though I live in Cornwall it’s still places like this that I like to visit. The people felt real, there problems felt real, like you were reading about a friend and this is down to the amazing writing by its author, and for me the greatest example of her great writing is when it becomes so much more about Kara Moon living in a little Cornish village, this moment for me was a wow moment and grab my attention instantly, I couldn’t put it down. In places it’s an emotional read, and yet it’s funny and heartwarming, surprising, never predictable. It tackles real issues like heartbreaks, grief, not worrying about what other people think. This unassuming story managed to capture my heart and my imagination. I would recommend this book to everyone and will be up there as another favourite. I now have a new favourite author.

I absolutely enjoyed the previous, Cockleberry, series by Nicola May. This new series start has definitely surpassed the joy I felt reading her earlier books.

Absolutely loved this book, right up my street, or should I say 'lane'! Loved how it was written, thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters & can't wait for the sequel, which I am hoping I will get a preview copy of via Netgalley

A very lovely and sweet romance that I read in no time! This is a page-turner! Nicola May is a really good author and if you pick this book you won't be disappointed. Also I was delighted to learn that this book is a first one of a series! What a nice surprice! Can't wait to read the second book!!!!
