Kara has lived in the seaside town of Hartmouth Cornwall all her life. She then discovers her boyfriend has been cheating on her and throws him out. Kara also is fed up with her employer treating her like a skivvy. Not read this author before but will certainly be looking out for more of her books

Nicola may is a new author for me so I was excited to read Welcome to ferry lane market and I was interested, enthralled and eager to read straight from the first chapter!
This book is pure unadulterated escapism! Set in an idyllic Cornish village of Hartmouth, we meet Kara and her waste of space boyfriend Jago, along with her lovable grandfather, somber father, best friend and others! Great characters and a real sense of community abound!
After breaking up with her boyfriend and the death of her wonderful wise grandfather, Karas life changes she starts taking in Airbnb bookings and receives a mysterious postcard and tickets to New York!
Kara embarks upon her voyage of discovery directed by postcards, travelling, sightseeing, shopping, and new experiences mixed with lots of soul searching and ultimately a while new outlook on life, love and work!
A real heartwarming enchanting read that I would highly recommend! Can’t wait for book 2 so excited to see what happens next!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.

I really loved this book by Nicola May, and thank Netgalley and the publisher for my preview copy. I shall definitely buy the follow up novel . The characters of Ferry Lane are fabulous, very real and each with their own idiosyncrasies, before I even got anywhere near the end of the book I really did feel that I knew them. It was a joy to read, and as I’m convalescing after a mild heart attack I did so in one day. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an uncomplicated enjoyable read.

Welcome to Ferry Market – publishing 22 July 2021.

I would like to extend my thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for sending me this book in order for a fair, frank, and honest review.

I had high hopes for this as various friends have read it, however, the layout did not work for me. I appreciate that it is an Arc and that certain elements will be sorted before publishing, but it was too annoying for me. In saying this, I liked Kara and felt proud of her for taking control of her own destiny especially after her relationship ended due to her boyfriend’s cheating.

It was an ok book.

3 stars

Loved the cover of this book. Set in my home county of Cornwall, it is the story of Kara Moon. After ridding herself of a rotten 'boyfriend' who steals from her, Kara opens up her seaside flat as an AirBnB rental, and recives some very interesting visitors. Her adventure continue with a mystery ticket for a trip to New York.
It's a very pleasant book, with nicely drawn characters. Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.

This has everything you need from a fun summer read!
An entertaining cast of characters, a plucky heroine, a dash of intrigue and all set in a pretty Cornish village - what more could you want?

A lovely story. Jago was not a nice man. I lived the description of the market and you wanted to live in Hartmouth. The views of the ferry you could imagine. I loved Pearl and how she met Kara's father. Kara's grandfather was a character and I loved how he became a silver surfer. Billy was amazing and loyal and as for Jen Kara's she came good in a lovely way. Won't spoil it. A great relaxing and feel good read

This was my first book by Nicola May but certainly won't be my last as it was a great start to what, I'm sure, will be a great new series. We're taken straight to the Cornish village of Hartmouth where the Ferry Lane market has always played a large part in Kara Moon's life. But things need to change and these changes start with a good, belated, kicking out of bad boy, cheating Jago, and Kara's next move in renting out the spare room in her flat via Air BnB. The whole journey Kara then takes is jolly and pretty upbeat if, at times, a somewhat emotional one. May writes with a great sense of understanding of her characters, and she directs Kara along, knowing just where she wants her to go and how she's going to end up getting there. As such, the story fairly rockets along at a great pace with a more than satisfactory ending.

Kara's story and her search for a different life and love, as well as the identity of the air ticket sent anonymously, had me awake into the early hours wanting to know If the secret donor was who I thought! May certainly knows how to hook her reader and keep her reading to the end.
There’s a great sense of community within this one book – surely what we all need after the year we’ve been through. It’s a great plot, beautifully told and, as it’s the first of a new series, there’s more to look forward to. The beauty of the story is one of hope and good things coming to those who deserve them. A super summer read for the beach - and anywhere else you can find to put your feet up. This certainly won’t be my last Nicola May read.
Five big fat sparkling stars for this one!

Kara is a 30 something florist living with in an abusive partner in a flat on a cornish estuary. This book is all about her waking up to life and realising that she is an amazing woman. I nice read with some twists and turns on the way leaving it open on a secret and a definite sequal. Couple of gripes she has too many names Kara, kerry, kerensa pick one and stick with it too confusing. Also what Sam did on the beach was sexual abuse, Kara was drunk and spaced out on drugs. With everything that Is going on in the world authors need to be a bit more careful as too what they normalise.

This is a sweet romance, set in the Cornish seaside town of Hartmouth. It had everything you would expect, a wonderful community, the hustle and bustle of a tourist town and some interesting characters too. Although it took me a while to get into this story, by the end I was totally enjoying Kara Moon's story. I loved the surprise postcards that lead to Kara's adventures and for me, that was when the story really got going; seeing how she found her true self.

Kara is a sweet girl, kind, hard-working, loving and put upon. I liked to see her begin to come out of herself and start to believe in herself and her potential. Billy was delightful, kind, sweet and caring, I really liked him and Star her best friend. Her Grandad Harry was a real character too. Then there were Kara's AirBnB guests...who were an intriguing bunch of people.

As I said I did find the beginning of the story slow and rather predictable, but once the intrigue of the postcards started I was hooked. This is the first book in the series and I am hoping book two will fill me in on Jack's story!

This is the first book in a new series by Nicola May and it was such an enjoyable story. I loved the characters the plot and the setting of the book it makes me long to visit Cornwall.

Kara Moon is the character and throughout they story we see how she has given up a lot to look after her father and when her good for nothing boyfriend cheats on her she rents out her spare room as an Airbnb

She receives an anonymous postcard with tickets to New York, this begins the first of 3 trips of a lifetime. I love how Kara grows as a person and finds herself as the story progresses.

This is the perfect book for a bit of escapism.

I loved this story! It kept me guessing right up to the end! This was such a lovely story of a woman overcoming a hard life and finding herself. The descriptions of the town in Cornwall where it's set make me long to visit, and the characters were all so lovable. I'm looking forward to the authors next installment in the series

Welcome to Ferry Lane Market is the first in a new series by this author and it doesn’t disappoint.

Cheated on by her boyfriend and taken advantage of by her boss, Kara Moon is stuck in a bit of a rut. When gifted the trip of a lifetime, Kara will have to step outside her comfort zone. As she travels across the globe, she discovers that what she really wants is right on her own doorstep.

A fabulous lighthearted story with a great mix of characters. A thoroughly enjoyable entertaining read. I look forward to the next one in the series.

Another book I kept picking up because I was so desperate to read what happened next.

I really liked the development of all the characters, particularly Kerensa and her grandfather. Their relationship warmed my heart.

The book was written in such a way you could really feel the bustle of the market and appreciate the environment - I’d have loved to have taken a trip there myself. The travel round the world could have been longer in my opinion. I loved hearing what she was doing in each country and I was kept guessing who could be the mystery planner right until the end

My only negative was that I REALLY wanted to find out what happened to Jack.....

Can’t wait to read the next book in the series

First time reading from this author and I can 100% say I was not disappointed, i loved it.
Loved the characters and the storyline had me hooked, was desperate to figure out who had organised Kara's amazing trip, every guess I had was wrong.
A lovely story of friendship and community spirit with romance and sadly grief as well, a little bit of everything a reader would like with a touch of mystery too. (You may need tissues at some point)
So glad to.see there is a follow up book which I now can't wait to read, can't wait to get back to the characters and the wonderful ferry lane market.
Would rate the book higher than a five if I could.
