This story made me wish I could do a house swap in real life.

I loved Cassie and James but slow burns are really not my thing lol. Because it’s a romance sometimes I just want them to get into it. I really like the premise of the book and wish it didn’t end so fast.

I love house and life swap books, so the premise of this was right up my street. The settings were wonderful, I especially loved those in London as I've been there before and am familiar with the city.

However, I really could not connect to the characters. James was pig headed and arrogant, while Cassie was a pushover and couldn't stand up for herself.

A great premise that let itself down slightly for me.

Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future.

Oh my gosh!!! All the feels!

I love love love a great enemies to lovers, and even though they are ex's (so I guess this is more a second chance), the banter was outstanding. The fun between Cassie and James as they swap homes and get to see into each other's lives made the story. A definite weekend read, vacation read, or I would even say this would be a great book to get you out of a reading slump.

Cassie lives in rural Maine and grew up in Scotland. When her publisher asks her to write a book set in London, Cassie admits that she hasn't spent much time in the city. Her friends recommend a house swap website to find a place to stay in London.

James is dealing with his stalker ex-girlfriend and the people he laid off at work calling and emailing him and he wants to get away from his London life. His company has business opportunities in Boston, so he looks for a house swap in the US.

The swap happens and both parties are disappointed with their new digs at first. James is annoyed by the overly-friendly neighbors, the chickens and alpacas on Cassie's property, and the spotty WiFi. Cassie has a run-in with James' ex-girlfriend and is shocked by the lack of hospitality at James' flat. James leaves no food, no towels, and no sheets for Cassie as he's already ordered all of these things for himself in Maine.

Cassie and James' house swap lasts several months, so they both have the interesting opportunity to return home and see how the other is occupying their space and interacting with their neighbors. They find the differences between their lives and the life their tenant is living fascinating. They also frequently chat on the phone about issues that come up with their respective homes.

Fiona McNeill reads Cassie with a Scottish accent which immediately makes her feel more authentic. Frazer Blaxland reads James with an English accent.

Recommended for romance readers who like British characters or characters in their late thirties.

The House Swap is about two people, Cassie and James, who connect through a house swapping website. They exchange houses but their respective houses are not what they were expecting. This leads to continuing texts and calls. In the first part of the book, they are trying to connect with friends st the beginning, discovering the house etc while the second part focuses more on the romantic relationship.

This book was fun and an enjoyable read overall. I would have liked more details on how the fell in love and got to talk every day. It felt somewhat rushed. One of the main plots was Cassie’s struggles with infertility. She had several miscarriages before and this was taking a toll on her. It seemed though like the end fixed everything too suddenly and could have used more work. Overall, a good rom-com to entertain yourself,

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader copy!

At this time, as I am guessing is obvious by the publication date that was literally years ago, I have decided not to review this title.

Technically, I made this decision a while ago, but was not as prompt with sending feedback as I should have been. My apologies for the delay, as well as clogging up your inbox with this very late review response.

As always, while incredibly late, I thank you for the opportunity to read and review one of your titles.

This was exactly what I needed. It was funny and so, so charming. Absolutely loved the writing, the characters and the story and I am so excited to read more by Jo Lovett.

The House Swap by Jo Lovett is an enemies to lovers romantic comedy with a The Holiday movie vibe. This was a slow build relationship through witty meet cute messages.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest review. I really wanted to like this book but we didn't get along from the very start...I didn't really like any of the main characters (like, AT ALL), I didn't really connect with the location nor did I want to, and I just could not for the life of me get into the storyline for these reasons. I really really tried but when you don't like the characters, it is most likely not going to change as you go forward...

I really wanted to love this book as the blurb reminded me so much of The Holiday and I was in the mood for a sweet, funny romance. Sadly I had to DNF it about a third of the way through because I really did not like the characters! James was so full of himself and Cassie just felt too much like a doormat from the off. The story itself was too serious at times, too ridiculous at others and the writing style was also a little jumbled and hard to read on occasion.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cassie is spending sometime in posh london flat to “broaden her horizons” for her new book. The catch is that she swapped her house in Maine so the people coming to this posh flat are expecting James, but getting her, including his superfluous ex girlfriend. James and Cassie talk back and forth but when they meet the sparks truly fly.

I love this book. It’s ‘The Hating Game’ meets the holiday. It’s so delightfully romantic and fun. The characters are wonderful and vivid. I LOVED the IVF backstory for Cassie. That is something you don’t typically see in these stories. Yet it is incredibly common.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Wow, I don’t think I could love Cassie and James’ enemies to lovers story more. I loved how each character had their own things they were dealing with and as their friendship grew they let each other in a bit. This pair was just so so so cute! Talk about restraint though… I just really wanted them to get together from the get go! Thanks Bookouture and Netgalley for the arc. All opinions are my own.

The House Swap is a sweet, lighthearted romantic comedy detailing the house swap between Cassie and James who live on two different continents and have two different personalities. I really enjoyed the first three-quarters of this book, but I think the last quarter might have benefited from some additional depth. All in all, it was a likable story.

I’m familiar with this author and the cover of this book immediately grabbed my attention.

The storyline was good. Cassie and James have a good spark that keeps the reader intrigued and rooting for them.

The authors writing style was engaging and the story flowed well.

This was a nice, easy read. Ideal for some escapism!

I want to start by saying I found this book truly refreshing and fun to read. I wasn't sure when I first started reading it that it was going to grab me into its pages. However, it wasn't long before I was truly lost to its pages.

There was a very wide range of characters and personalities represented in this story. Ms. Lovett did a grand job of truly exploring the depths of each character and relationship. I was just a little disappointed when the stalker girlfriend wasn't explored with any further depth or development. I felt as though her character was conveniently dropped a bit too early and easily. I also would have loved a little more background on her to understand a little more of why she was the way she was. I kept expecting to see her at some point later in the storyline. There were so many opportunities for this! Otherwise, all of the other characters were wonderfully depicted!

I will absolutely be seeking more books by this author going forward!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bookouture through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
