So, a mafia romance set in Ireland. Ok, the setting was good. The storyline itself.... meh. Very dark romance, sometimes NOT sexy. This was just ok for me. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley for supplying an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I really really REALLY enjoyed Jack and Maeve's enemies-to-lovers story. This is definitely a dark romance, not short of violence, and not short of family strife, but the Irish mafia aspect of this story was so new and interesting and I couldn't put it down.

Jack definitely reminded me of Hades from some retellings I've read, regarding the deal Maeve makes

I feel like there could've been a little less background as far as look at all these characters/remember all these names but other than that I enjoyed it a lot.

Definitely will pick up other books by this author, and looking forward to continuing in the series!

* thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review*
Honestly, that was pretty mediocre.
There wasn't enough action in the book, it felt really staged and forced, the events just don't turn alive in your head.
The characters were so bland, the male protagonist is really badly written, like i know he has to be ruthless and dominant,, but he was just angry all the time unless he was having a "rendezvous" with the lead female, if you know what I mean.
Overall, i really didn't like it.

This is a dark gritty tale about Irish Mafia prince, Jack O'Reagan and his obsession with childhood enemy, Maeve Reilly. Jack's father is the Irish Mafia King and is grooming Jack to be the next King. He has to participate in trials to prove that he's tough enough to rule. Even as a child his father taught Jack to be cruel His little sister's best friend, Maeve, was an Outsider and Jack's father didn't want him around her. So Jack was mean to her every chance he got. Now, years later, Maeve has to come to him because she has nowhere else to turn and Jack's going to make her pay. Violent mafia dealings mix with enemies to lovers romance in this dark read. Recommended.

A great mafia romance that kept me hooked in from the first page to the last. I am new to Vi Carter’s writing and I look forward to more by her in the future.

Maeve needs help. Desperately. If her brother doesn't find the money he owes, she and her family will pay the consequences. So she asks Jack O'Reagan for help. She doesn't really want to but it's her only option.
Jack will give her the money on one condition. She has to spend one night with him.
But things with a O'Reagan are never easy. And everything gets complicated.
I liked this book. The plot was engaging and I liked Jack a lot. He is a dark prince.
I bet the second book is good. Shay getting married? Really?

Crazy!

Enemies to lovers with a healthy dose of drama, action, steam and a few twists.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

I'm very picky about my dark romances and have a few lines that, if crossed, immediately make a book a no-go for me. The first half of this book did get a little too close to the consent line for me, but boy oh boy, the drama in the second half? It was like a soap opera up in here and I was all for it.

Plus, the end of this book teased a spin-off mafia arranged marriage and if that isn't right up my alley, I don't know what is. I can't wait!

Oh my gosh!!! I loved this book, I read it in less than 24 hours. I needed an escape and this was perfect. I loved the story going between the two characters and seeing it from their point of view.

It had the right amount of intrigue and suspense to keep you wanting more. I found it hard to put down and the small chapters made for easy reading.

I really enjoyed this 'mafia' romance set in Ireland. It tells the story of Maeve, who hasn't had a lot of luck in her life (alcoholic father, drug addict brother and absent father). When her brother's debts get called in (again) she turns to the only person who might be able to help her, local criminal Jack. As a child, he was always horrible to her, despite her friendship with his sister. Even so, there's always been something about him that has drawn her to him and now she finds herself fully in his debt and power.
I do enjoy 'dark' romances, but many that claim to be that, aren't really. I think that Mafia Prince can lay claim to it though. Jack isn't an easy character to like, he's dangerous and can be cruel and uncaring, but not with Maeve. It's clear that although there's conflict between the pair, they do quickly come to care for one another, even if they can't admit to it.
I enjoyed the way this romance played out. It's clear that there's more to come from this world, with the next story involving Shay, a supporting character in this book set to take the lead. I'm looking forward to reading his story and learning more about these Irish Mafia members.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I didn’t think I would love this one as much as I did! My attention was captured from the very first chapter. I read this book in two sittings. I literally did not want to put it down.
Several things happened which I was not expecting - great surprises!

Off to book 2 now. :)

Oh my gosh. Where do I start with this book!!!! I couldn't put it down! Jack and Maeve were everything. The heat, the chemistry between them. I've read a few books about Italian mafia, but Irish mafia...I am all there for that.
Maeve goes to Jack as what she claims is her last resort so save her brother. But it's more than that. Even though he was so horrible to her as a child, she still has a thi g for him. And he for her. One deal, one signed contract, and she can have what she needs when the deals done.i highly, highly recommend this book!!!

Mafia Prince by Vi Carter is book one in the Young Irish Rebels series. The books main focus are the characters Maeve and Jack. Maeve has a lot going on in her life, not only is she trying to finish school and juggle a job, but she is also looking after her alcoholic mum and addict brother. That is until her brother has a debt that he is unable to pay and Maeve steps up to the plate and into the crosshairs of Jack, her friends’ brother, who makes no qualms about how much he dislikes her.

Jack is next in line to become head of his Mafia family and that means he needs to get his hands dirty. At no point was he ready for Maeve to come in and disrupt his life, especially when she brings her own problems to his front door. Arrogant and occasionally mean to Maeve, we see Jack develop and share his hidden feelings for her as the book progresses, but it’s not without a lot of twist and turns, drama, a debt being paid and some violence.

As this is the first book in the series we are introduced to a lot of characters and have small snippets into their roles within the Families and it will be interesting to read their stories later in the series. Jack and Maeve’s attraction is instant, but does take a little while to get started, but when it does…instant fireworks!
This was a good Mafia read in a new series and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

Mafia Prince is the first installment of the Young Irish Rebels series. Jack O'Reagan is next in line to become the Irish Mafia King. Maeve Reilly is woman who does anything in her power to take care of and protect her family. It would seem the only thing these two have in common is their fierce desire to protect those they love. Past interactions resulted in the two hating each other, ignoring their true feelings of infatuation. When Mauve makes her weekly trip home from college, she's met with an impossible situation to save her family. She decides to ask the only person who can help: Jack O'Reagan. Little does she know, Jack has been wanting something from her for years, something she hasn't given to any man before. Neither of them could have predicted the trouble that their agreement brings.

Let me start off by saying I'm not one for romance novels. But, Jack and Mauve's interactions were interesting, especially when aspects of the mafia came into play. The struggle between the two characters unfolded slowly but with a desirable end result. I enjoyed Mauve's character: strong, independent, defiant, and extremely dedicated to her family. I admire her ability to push past all of the pain in her life and do what she needs to take care of her loved ones. Jack's character was that of a typical bad boy with a soft side for a select few. The enemies to lovers trope is always fun, so if you like that and some spice, you would enjoy this book.

I would rate this book a 3.5/5 for a few reasons. Like I said, romance novels aren't really for me so the plot wasn't as interesting to me as to someone who may enjoy that genre. I also don't enjoy switching character POV's without clear shifts in tone. The story was similar to "365 Days" on Netflix. If you like that movie, you'll love this story. Vi Carter's writing style is clear and filled with details since the story is told from each characters perspective. There were a few points in the story where it felt like it was progressing slowly, but the details were important to character development. I would keep up with the series. I recommend this to readers 18+, who like enemies to lovers, crime families, and "touch her and I'll kill you" type men.

This was a great read. I often struggle with mafia stories as I feel they become OTT. This was a perfect balance of violence, emotions and chemistry. Plenty of action to keep the story moving but with fantastic characters who genuinely drew you in. Will definitely be reading book 2.

I can't say whether I enjoyed this book or not. I'm not sure whether I liked Jack and Maeve at all. I'm not sure when or how they fell in love. And I'm still not exactly sure what the conflict with Jack's father was - but I'm not overly knowledgeable about the Irish Mob. This was a enemies to lovers story, but the push and pull between Jack and Maeve got old.

ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review -

I gotta say - that cover is HOT! It captured my attention, but this book... it captured my heart. I was hooked from the very first page.

Maeve and Jack were great together. She was soft and caring. Always putting other's needs before her own. The peacemaker of the family since they were beyond dysfunctional. Jack was broody and ruthless. He could never show any weakness. He is was too tough, too hidden. He was raised that way. Raised to be a King.

Maeve has only one person to turn to for help. She has heard stories of how Jack has helped with people's money problems. Her selfish brother owes some bad people lots of money. Jack offers to pay off her (her brother's) debt. Her payment for that --- one night in his bed. With no other options, she signs the paper. Signs herself over to this man... this man that she has secretly had feelings for most of her life.

I didn't care for Jack in the start of the book, he slowly grew on me as his many layers were stripped away courtesy of one girl who always had his attention. One girl who he was told to never interact with. One girl who he has always wanted, but knew he shouldn't.

Good thing he didn't listen. I truly felt like he cared for Maeve. Even from the start of the contract, but I don't think he told her enough. You could tell by his actions, but I needed his words too.

Overall, it was a really good read. I'll for sure check out book 2!

I enjoyed this book and recognized this because I immediately started looking to purchase book 2. This is the story of Jack and Maeve who have known each other since they were quite young. Jack was raised by his mafia king father and Maeve was raised by herself. Her father left her alcoholic mother when she was very young. There was a series of misunderstandings and intrigue throughout the book. This is a very dark romance and not for the faint of heart. I would definitely recommend it as a intriguing read!

To Whom This May Concern:

I would first like to say that this is the first book of a series where I did not know that this was a spin off series. The Young Irish Rebels series are what I can assume are the sons of the characters in the Wild Irish series by Vi Carter. I did not find out about the other series before reading this series. In this first book, it talks about the son of Liam O’Reagan and Svetlana. The parents of Jack has their own love story, which is Book 5 titled Heartless. Also, this is the first time I am reading a product of Vi Carter.

The couple in this book is Jack and Maeve. Jack is the son of the current king of the Irish mafia, while Maeve is trying to hold her family together. The trope of the book is more of a love/hate or revenge per se. IMO, love/hate is more evident than revenge. Maeve needs financial support to get her family out of the troubles that they have gotten into and Jack strikes up a contract with her to provide her the money needed. I would like to point out that the book is through dual point of views, with clear indications on each chapter.

The plot line of the story was well written with hidden surprises from the mafia perspective as well as the struggling family angle. However, I don’t agree with the Maeve’s action that causes her character to be lackluster. There was just more depth to the male character in this novel than the female protagonist. The writing style of the author in this book made reading very easy. Sometimes, authors will add complex sentence where just simple sentences suffice.

The “romance” scene was not very steamy. I will never judge on the amount of romance scenes in a book, but more the quality of the scenes themselves. In the beginning of the book, the scenes was hot and steamy with just a slow burn type of vibe. Towards the end, the romance scenes was descriptive, but nothing that just made you want clench your legs together in anticipation.

The ending of the book was well written due to the fact that it sets up the characters and plot for the next book in the series. The characters did get a happy ending, which is always nice.

With that being said, I give the first book in this series a 4 out of 5.

With thanks.
