What an amazing story of embracing life in the French Quarter, the music and atmosphere of the jazz bars, the historic buildings, amazing food and new relationships!
Flick gets a work offer and moves to New Orleans, when Zoe joins her mum they both start to learn how to move on from old hurts. Flick and Zoe meet Aurelia, an elderly reclusive artist who needs their help to confront her demons! The mystery of ghosts in a world away from home, mixed with love and loss, and the strength of female friendships helps in healing broken hearts.
I felt that I too had travelled to New Orleans and didn’t want this amazing adventure to end!
Thank you Rachael Johns for writing ‘How to Mend a Broken Heart’! Another wonderful journey of romance, friendship, discovery and new beginnings, definitely a must read!

‘I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own’.

Rachael Johns has done it again! I am a huge fan of Rachael johns and I’m so thankful for the advanced copy of her latest book. I found this book so incredibly hard to put down, so thank you Rachael

I loved my time in New Orleans, and getting to know not only the city but all the Characters and their stories.
This book was very well written and had me wanting more, I remember getting to page 333 and thinking I don’t want this book to end ever I just want to stay here in New Orleans with flick, Zeo and Theo

Flick is struggling to move on from her ex and their broken down marriage . so when she gets an offer to work in New Orleans for a few months, she’s drawn to the chance of finding herself again
We also meet Flicks daughter Zoe who is ready to start a family with her husband, but things aren’t as they seem.

This book was very hard to put down and even when I did I only kept thinking about everyone in this story, and what would happen next

This book made me sleep deprived, as I kept saying “just one more chapter!” “Okay, fine, one more.” Finally after five chapters or so, I’d shut my eyes.

I love Rachael Johns books – they’re always entertaining and thought provoking – but I think this one might have become my favourite. Rachael’s specialty is making you feel like you really know the characters, but with this blissful book, the setting – of New Orleans – was also so richly portrayed. I went to New Orleans two years ago, and reading this book made me feel like I was travelling again, even with border closures at the time of reading.

Felicity’s marriage broke down years ago, but she has struggled to move on with her life and know what she really wants. When she gets an offer to move to New Orleans for a few months, she jumps at the chance and starts to carve out a path for herself – til her problems follow her, anyway!

Felicity’s daughter Zoe, now an adult, has her own problems, and thinks that a trip to New Orleans might just solve them. Or, maybe Zoe will realise that running away just results in new problems.

A chance meeting with Aurelia, a reclusive artist who surprises them with lessons from her life, prompts Flick and Zoe to reassess what they want too.

Can all three women learn from the past in order to embrace their future? Can all three women find out how to move on from heartbreak?

I highly recommend this book, but be sure to read it when you can put the world on hold for a while!

“Felicity Bell has struggled to move on after her marriage broke down. Her ex has found love again, her children have their own lives, and it’s beginning to feel like her only comfort comes from her dog and her job as a taxidermist. So when Flick gets an offer to work in New Orleans for a few months, she’s drawn to the chance to make a fresh start.

Zoe is ready to start a family with her husband, but when he betrays her, she’s left shattered and desperate for a change of scenery. Joining her mother on the other side of the world to drown her sorrows seems the perfect solution.

Although both mother and daughter are wary of risking their hearts to love again, Theo, a jazz bar owner, and Jack, a local ghost hunter, offer fun, friendship and distraction. But all is not as it seems in New Orleans…

A chance meeting with Aurelia, a reclusive artist who surprises them with lessons from her life, prompts Flick and Zoe to reassess what they want too. Can all three women learn from the past in order to embrace their future?”

I was beyond excited to receive this ARC written by one of my favourite authors and I’m so happy to say she has knocked it out of the park again! As I’ve come to expect from Rachael Johns the characters were warm and relatable and the story flowed easily and kept me intrigued throughout. The plot morphed, twisted and turned but It. Just. Worked. Do yourself a favour and read it! Definitely a novel I will be coming back to when I need a hug or a pick me up.

The latest offering from Rachael Johns is a delightful read that takes you on an exciting adventure to New Orleans. You almost feel like you’re right there, with the delicious descriptions of Creole and Cajun foods, jazz music and the night life.

We follow our protagonist Flick from Western Australia to the American South. In the past few years, Flick has endured an unconventional marriage breakup, her two children have grown up and moved out. She is no longer the mother and wife that she was a few short years ago.

After seeing an opportunity advertised on Facebook to manage a business in New Orleans for a few months, Flick seizes the opportunity and escapes to New Orleans.

Just as Flick is finding her way in a new country and new city, her daughter Zoe lands on her doorstep with a broken heart.

New Orleans provides the girls with opportunities to move onwards and upwards, but not without some hiccups along the way.

Another enjoyable read from Rachael Johns.

Summer in New Orleans means hot days, long nights, spooky stories and surprising new beginnings.
After reading this book I need to head to New Orleans for all of the above.
This was another of Rachael Johns books that I was unable to put down. The characters intrigued me, but not as much as the French Quarter. It was almost as if I could hear, taste and smell what was happening.
A fabulous, easy reading book that when I had finished it was like leaving old friends behind.
