A wonderful children's book about a little robin who goes to school and what he does on his first day. I loved the rich colors used in the illustrations. Definitely a beautiful book for Back to School and the Autumn season. I highly recommend it. Thanks so much #netgalley for the early review copy. I loved it.

Not only does this book have great value in reassuring youngsters about starting school but it has the most delightful and detailed illustrations that you could enjoy and talk about at a leisurely pace. Very nicely done.

This would be a lovely book to have a classroom read or to have to read for your child before their first day of school. The animal characters are used to show what goes on during the day of school and not to be afraid of anything. Very highly recommend this book to anyone with a new student or a teacher who needs a book to read to the class.

This was so incredibly cute!
What a wonderful book to show kids how school is and how it can be.
Loved the illustrations, they were just adorable featuring so many books, pictures, fruit and really showed what a warm and calm environment school can be.

I am so happy to own this now.

A great story to help prepare little ones for their first day of school. My own daughter starts kindergarten this year, so we'll definitely be reading this together.

*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this eARC.

I really liked the illustrations and the vibrant colors will appeal to young readers. I liked that it was inclusive and diverse in the different types of animals represented. I think some of the pages were a bit wordy and the length may be long for younger readers but I like that the pictures told the story well.

First Day of School is cute book that introduces kids to going to school. The book is beautifully illustrated and written and explains what they can expect at the beginning of the school day until the end of the day. This book would be perfect to read during a story time at school, home, or the library. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. (This review is also on GoodReads.)

This book supports children and their fear of the first day at school. Being away from home for hours, meeting so many new children, how will they react? will they be nice to me?

With warm, colourful illustration & a story that is easy to follow, we accompany Robin on his very first day at school. While he is anxious at first, he soon learns just how much fun it is to be going through this "first time" experience with so many other children.

A very lovely book which I recommend for parents to buy 1 to 2 years before their child starts with school.

Robins first day at school is worrying him. Not only worried but scared. He asks his mom to come back quickly to get him. So many children feel this way upon starting school for the first time. Many still have this anxiety even after going to school for awhile.
First Day of School is a cute and funny story about Robins first day of school. Will he have so much fun he’ll want to go back the next day?
Perfect book to read during circle time in a preschool setting.
Colorful and engaging pictures

In a very beautifully illustrated story - Robin is hesitant to go to school but soon learns of all the fun things that they get to do. The story focuses on Robin continually asking his teacher (and calling her Ma'am!) "What's next!?" The pages feature a variety of animals attending school and each having a slightly unique experience during each activity (even using the "potty") which overall provides a lot of fun and exciting visual exploration for the reader.

My main drawback as a parent - if this book is to be read to provide some easing of nerves for first day jitters I wish that Mom bird had been a bit more vocal on assuring Robin that he would have a wonderful day. As the story plays out - Mom is silent and that felt odd to me. Twice Robin directly talks to Mom but there is zero response from her. Including the question "Will you come back quickly to pick me up?"

Overall, I think this picture book still affords a lot of excitement about what school can offer. Including conversations that many of these stories might not touch upon such as: not everyone will be just like you, will eat the same things as you, play the same, etc..

Review: A helpful story for children facing their first day at school. Whimsical woodland characters, like a fox, mouse, rabbit, hedgehog, lady bug, squirrel and more create a relatable story about the emotions children might experience with on their first day of school. Feelings about uncertainty, being in a new place, saying goodbye to their parents for the day, and how to meet new people. Each layout presents a muted color scheme and illustrations to show each different activity that might happen during the day including recess, gym class, art class, lunch, show and tell. A good choice for children who will be attending school for the first time, preschool OR kindergarten!

Note: I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher via NetGalley. My review is my own.

Thanks so much to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading through this cute story about Robin's first day of school. One of the biggest strengths of this book is the wonderful illustrations. They are so detailed and gorgeous! I really think that these illustrations drive the story forward and show the community that helps the main character prepare for the first day of school. Really great!

Read and reviewed by seven-year-old Amy.
The main character of this book is Robin. It’s Robin’s first day at school. He is nervous and doesn’t want to go to school, but he decides to try it out.
When he reaches school, what happens there? Is there something to be worried about at a school? Read this wonderful picture book and find out.
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the beautiful illustrations and the story itself. The cover is very attractive, too.
Children will learn that there is nothing to be afraid of going to school. New school-going children can benefit from this picture book and will not be scared of their first day at school.
I recommend this book to children three years and above.
I give this book 5/5 stars.

Thanks, NetGalley and Calvis Publishing, for the ARC copy of this book.

First Day of School is a cute picture book filled with colorful and beautiful artwork. I loved all the different fun things Robin did on the first day of school. The only thing missing for me was books. I wish Robin's teacher had read books to foster a love for reading on his first day.

I like the concept of this book. It's difficult for parents to leave their children at school on the first day. This book can show children how fun it is to be at school, that it is not as scary as they think it is.

This book is definitely a cute way to show children what their first day of school will look like. This can help ease any fears or anxieties about being away from their parents for the first time.

What a delightful, whimsical book with beautiful artwork. This wonderful children’s story tells the story of Robin’s first day at school in a tree with other furry creatures. Nervous and curious, Robin inquires what is expected. He soon discovers that school isn’t so bad after all. I love the use of honorifics and very teachable moments for the children who will read this book (cleaning up after yourself, using the potty, trying new things, etc).
