WHY DID I LISTEN TO VERY SINCERELY YOURS BY KERRY WINFREY?
Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey is a book that I picked up because I kind of knew what to expect. After all, I’d previously read Waiting For Tom Hanks and Not Like The Movies. More to the point, I’ve only experienced her books via audio. So, I knew going in that was exactly the kind of experience I wanted to have again. Also, my life had been so stressful that I just wanted an easy to follow audiobook.

WHAT’S THE STORY HERE?
Very Sincerely Yours is about an almost thirty year old woman named Teddy Phillips who works at a vintage toy store. The book opens up with Teddy who has just decorated the apartment she shares with her boyfriend and is making him a very special dinner. She thinks he is going to propose. Turns out, he’s a massive jerk, and dumps her. Now Teddy is adrift. She’s spent basically her whole adulthood as a helpmeet to the boyfriend and in a dead-end job. So, she ends up rooming with some friends at their apartment.

As I said, Teddy is adrift, but she takes joy in this children’s tv show hosted by Everett St. James who is both soothing and cute. So, struggling, Teddy begins to write letters to Everett and he writes back. Through the letters, they are honest and open. Their lives bump up against each other, but they don’t meet. That is, until they do. Then they must decide what they want and how their futures will go. Can Everett find what he’s been missing? Will Teddy finally figure out the direction she wants her life to go in?

WHAT DID I THINK OF VERY SINCERELY YOURS?
I genuinely enjoyed Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey. Romantic comedies are my jam. I found that I could relate to Teddy having also experienced a breakup of a longtime relationship — I was 27 at the time and feeling adrift as well. Like Teddy, I came out the other end and things ended up so much better than I could have expected. I thought that Winfrey wrote Teddy’s story with empathy and in a non-judgemental fashion. Also, I liked that this was not a very spicy read — made it not at all awkward to listen to while driving and on my return to work.

HOW’S THE NARRATION?
The audiobook of Very Sincerely Yours is narrated by Patti Murin. It is 10 hours and 5 minutes long. I listened to it sped up — as this was before I started listening to audiobooks back at 1x speed. Although I listened to this one sped up, turns out, months later writing this review, I managed to retain more than I thought. Murin was a new to me narrator and one I will be sure to check out more in the future. But also, what a testament to how wonderful this book was for me that I managed to remember quite a bit from.

Thank you to the publisher for a copy of this book. I DNF’ed it at 30%. I am struggling with the lack of romance and build up.

I had such high hopes for this book as I adored "Waiting for Tom Hanks" but I just couldn't connect with the characters and felt the plot to be quite childish. I definitely enjoy more heat in my books and this was very much a closed door romance.. I found it quite dry and hard to keep up with as I was flipping pages..

A sweet romance but im taking off a star because the heroine being so weak in the beginning and middle made me so frustrated. How did she not know her ex was using her as a motherly figure and how did she not have enough of a backbone to talk back to her ex who insulted and manipulated her??? Also this was mr. Rogers fanfiction.

I loved this story! The characters are modern and in today's world, but the hints of Mr. Rodgers and his show just melt me.

I adored this book It was quirky, funny and oh so sweet. It had me bursting out laughing in the middle of my grocery shop I’m pretty sure everyone thought I was crazy. Unlike the second book in this series where the characters drove me crazy i just could not get enough of Teddy and Elliot. Their personalities, the email dialogue and the uniqueness of their jobs just made this book great. I do wish the ending was a bit different but I understand what the author was trying to do aswell. If you’re looking for a great rom com definitely add this to your list and it can be read as a stand-alone as

This one was a bit more difficult for me to get into. I was rooting for the main character the whole time, although it felt like the story wasn't moving as quickly as it should have been.

I love writing. Just the thought of sitting down to write makes me smile... and the charming letters between Teddy and Everett just won my heart. This sweet coming of age romance also deals with harder issues. Teddy has a jerk for an ex that everyone seemed to hate except her, and once he dumps her...Teddy is catapulted into self discovery and growth. She starts writing Everett questions and gets to know the real man behind the kid's television show.

Definitely enjoyed the romance and sparks, but also the self journey that both Everett and Teddy undertake to get to a point where a healthy relationship can become a reality. Messy and fun, their relationship warms my heart just like the writing in Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey.

Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing and author Kerry Winfrey for this digital, free, temporary advance review copy for me to read and enjoy. As always, my opinions are mine and my reviews voluntary.

Teddy works in a vintage toy store and writes letters to children’s TV show host, Everett.
As they exchange letters, they get to know each other and love blossoms.
This is a journey to find her passion.
It was really good.
I’ll be looking for more books by Kerry Winfrey.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for my honest review.

I started Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey over the weekend and I was immediately hooked. I laughed. I teared up. I was completely and utterly charmed. Very Sincerely Yours is the textbook definition of a feel-good romance. I finished the book with a cheesy grin on my face, a new appreciation for Mr. Rogers, and a questionable craving for Taco Bell.

After getting unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend, Teddy Phillips is hit hard with the realization that she’s thirty and directionless. With the enthusiastic support of her friends, Teddy resolves to find her life‘s purpose and step out of her comfort zone, inspired by advice from Everett St. James, the handsome and affable host of the local children’s show, Everett’s Place. Her infatuation with the endearing, empathetic puppeteer grows into a full-blown crush once they strike up an email correspondence.

As Teddy gets to know Everett’s witty, earnest persona, the reader becomes acquainted with his workaholic tendencies. He lives and breathes his show, tackling each day with a single-minded, unwavering focus. Teddy is drawn to his self-assuredness and his wholehearted support in her journey of self-discovery. But Teddy is still a work in progress, and she fears that getting lost in a relationship with Everett will put her right back where she started: putting everyone else’s needs above her own.

Often when I read a book, I tend to gravitate more toward either the hero or the heroine. But with Very Sincerely Yours, I genuinely enjoyed getting to know Teddy and Everett, both separately and as a couple. They’re refreshingly honest with each other via email, providing unfiltered glimpses into their innermost thoughts. Their budding relationship is messy at times, but their effortless connection, undeniable chemistry, and flirty banter kept me glued to every sentence, absorbing their every interaction with an unabashed giddiness. These characters are so darn adorable, heartwarming, and often hilarious, that I couldn’t help but be enamored with them.

With a cast of vivacious, somewhat eccentric, but downright entertaining characters, a narrative that’s lighthearted and entertaining, yet still tugs on your heartstrings, and a romance that’s overloaded with cuteness, Very Sincerely Yours is easily one of my favorite books of the year. Giving this book 5 Stars is a no-brainer! I can’t recommend it enough.

Virtually homeless and recently single, Teddy Phillips turns to the only person who she thinks can give her comfort, the sexy Mr.-Rogers-esque host of the local children’s show. Everett St. James is charmed by the email he receives from the unknown Teddy and responds as sincerely as he would to a letter from a five-year-old on his program. And so begins a correspondence that lead each Teddy and Everett to wonder how they can feel so comfortable with someone they’ve never met.

Overall this book is a super cute, quick read that’s perfect to read this summer. I loved that the book takes place in a city 30 minutes from where I grew up. Teddy reminded me a bit about my high school self and I loved this journey for her. I just wished there was a bit more chemistry and relationship development between Teddy and Everett.

Thanks to Berkley and Netgalley for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adored this story! A young woman getting dumped by her longtime boyfriend and kicked to the curb. She moves in with friends and starts to take comfort in a children's television show, especially the host Everett. Then she ends up writing to him and they email each other for a while before they meet.

This was such a cute book. Look forward to reading more from this author!

I’ve really enjoyed this author’s previous books but this one is by far my favorite. In fact, it’s likely going to make my top ten for the year. I just loved it so much. It was like a warm hug in book form, if a warm hug also made you laugh…and cry…and want to watch children’s TV. Ok, maybe not that last part.

30-year-old Teddy (Theodora) Phillips is feeling a little directionless, and under a lot of pressure to ‘pick a career’. To make matters worse, she thinks her long-time boyfriend, Richard, is about to propose but instead he dumps her. The one thing that helps her escape and feel at peace is watching Everett’s Place, a local children’s TV show. It doesn’t hurt that the host, Everette St. James is very easy on the eyes.

In a moment of ‘why the heck not’ Teddy writes to Everette on the show to ask him a question. Sure, it’s usually kids writing in to the show, but Everette has some really great advice for Teddy, and they start emailing back and forth. Through their exchanges, they get to know each other on quite a deep level, all while never having actually met….or at least that’s what Everette thinks.

This book is sweet, and hilarious, and will probably make you cry and snort-laugh in equal measures. Teddy and Everette are amazing, and the supporting cast of characters are simply brilliant as well. Frankly, I’m jealous of anyone who gets to read this for the first time. It’s making my list of favorite books of 2021 for sure.

A sweet, closed-door romance where everyone is a little too quirky and a little too sincere but somehow it works! I love any book that has strong female friendships and enjoyed how both Teddy and Everett evolved over the course of their story.

Teddy’s life is going nowhere fast. Her long time boyfriend, whom she quit college for so he can focus on his education and she could take care of him broke up with her. She looks around at her life and realize she doesn’t have a “thing”. Her friends seem to have found “their thing” and with taking care of her man baby for so many years, she thinks that her thing had an expiration date that has passed.
Teddy works at a vintage toy store and watches Everett’s Place, a local children’s show. Children write to Everett with problems and Everett with the help of his puppets gives them advice.
Teddy gains up the courage to write Everett, if she doesn’t know her thing maybe a stranger on TV will.
When Everett sees a letter from a Theodora, he’s taken aback. It’s not like the normal letter he gets from children. Everett finds himself drawn to this woman named Theodora.

🧸🧸🧸🧸 My Thoughts 🧸🧸🧸🧸
1. I was happy that we never saw Everett get physical, because he reminded me of Mister Rogers and that would be weird.
“Ohhhhh… Mister Rogers!” 😳
2. I really appreciated the whole “Find your thing” journey that Teddy went on and I LOVED that sewing was hers! ❤️

This romcom was very middle of the road for me. I read the first half in June prior to the release date, and ultimately had to step away as I just wasn’t connecting to the characters or the story. In the mood for a romance, I revisited this novel last week, and I did enjoy the last half.

With that in mind, there were definitely aspects of this novel that I appreciated. The occupation of each character and the setting of this romance was quite unique, and very different from other romances I have read. Prior to meeting each other, the two characters develop a connection through letter writing, and I enjoyed seeing their romance flourish in that format. I enjoyed the honesty between the love interests, and how they were both forced to face their fears in light of finding and accepting love. And of course, I do love a happy ending.

Although this novel wasn’t my favorite by this author, I do think others will enjoy this one.

You know how you sit down to watch a movie and you want something pure and happy? Think You've Got Mail or When Harry Met Sally. You know the movie that you laugh and smile and just makes you feel happy? That is a Kerry Winfrey novel. Charming. I am charmed. C.h.a.r.m.e.d. Did I mention I was charmed? Lol..

Ok, let's talk about Very Sincerely Yours. Teddy is going down as one of my favorite characters. Her journey to find herself was delightful. She comes off the page as a real, live person. Flawed but lovely. Everett is an absolute dream. Wrap that up with email correspondence and it cemented my love for this book.
.
If you are a fan of old school Rom Com's....pick this one up. You will not be disappointed.

90’s are back right? Well if you love You’ve Got Mail, feast your eyes on an updated version featuring a hot Mister Rogers, aka Everett and unambitious Teddy rethinking her entire life. After being dumped by Rick (the Dick, aptly named by those on her life) Teddy gets a breakup bob, moves in with her two friends apartment, and tries to find her passion. After eating her troubles, with a freezer full of ice cream (hello I need this!), she breaks out of the drudgery her life has become and forced herself to try new things. Including emailing Everett, a popular host of a puppet show.

I def feel more like Teddy (at almost 33) and still have no clue what I’m doing. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also I couldn’t help but thinking every time Everett talked about his love of puppetry the cars.com commercial of a first date where the guy says “my passion is puppetry”. (Why do I remember that?!)

I’m off to the library to get Not Like the Movies as I’m a Winfrey fan for love! ✌️
