Andie Carson has to do three things to inherit her grandmother’s lottery winnings—sober up, spend a month running her grandmother’s Georgia coffee shop, and enter homemade jam in the county fair. If she can’t meet those terms, the money goes to the church, and Andie gets nothing. She figures her tasks will be easy enough, and once she completes them, Andie plans to sell the shop, take the money, and run back to Boston. After a rough breakup from his crazy ex-fiancée, Officer Gunnar Wills decides to take a hiatus from women. All he wants is to help make his small town thrive the way it did when he was a kid. But when wild and beautiful Andie shows up, Gunnar’s hesitant heart begins to flutter. Gunnar knows that Andie plans to leave, but he’s hoping to change her mind, fearful that if her coffee shop closes, Main Street will fold to the big-box corporations and forever change the landscape of his quaint community. But convincing her to stay means getting close enough to risk his heart in the process. Even though Gunnar makes small-town life seem a little sweeter, Andie has to decide if she’s ready to turn her world upside down and give up big-city life. One thing’s for sure—it’s a very sticky situation.

What if you had to do three things in order to get your grandmother’s lottery inheritance? That’s what happens to Andie.
1)spend a month running her grandmothers coffee shop in Georgia
2)sober up
3)enter homemade jam into the county fair
If Andie does not complete these three things….everything goes to the church and she is left with nothing.
Will she find comfort in the small town? Will she find romance? Will she find peace with herself?
In a Jam is a crazy, sweet romance that is just a fun read!

I am FLOORED! Who gave this book the right? Y’all look at this book- I obviously expected a C-grade small town country romance, pure fluff, no substance and as sugary sweet as that lil jar of jam on the cover. But it was so good!! I can’t believe I slept on this one for so long. Was it overly corny at times? Did the author maybe overdo it a bit on the Southern phrases? I mean, yeah of course, it’s a small town country romance. But there was some real character and plot development, too. I can’t wait to read the next in the series.

Maiden from a city, small town officer with the body of Greek gods. Inheritance with conditions left by grandmother and small down that losing its life. These are the keywords that make this story tick. Andie has woken in a drunk tank and is informed that her grandmother has left her inheritance, but to get it, she has to sober up, run for six weeks grandmother’s coffee shop and win a local jam competition. Gunnar returned to his hometown after university and now his biggest dream is to restore his hometown to the glory of his childhood. But if Andie will sell the coffee shop to a developer after her mandatory stay, the last small businesses will not be able to stand against the big corporations.
It’s a very typical instalove story, when the protagonists can not stand at first, then they fall for each other, then get offended/disappointed in one another, till they find they can not live without their better half and walk into the sunset hand in hand. Well, not a bad story but it’s just too sweet a story.

What a wonderful love story!!! This was one of those books, where you ride the roller coaster of EVERY single emotion throughout the tale, and then when you finally come to an amazing ending - you still want more - WHATS NEXT?? I adored Andy and the motley crew that she falls in love with during her "tests". Very very satisfying and seriously laugh out loud moments - def left me wanting a sequel - or a few extra chapters <3 Special thanks to the the author, publisher and netgalley for providing a digital advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. Can NOT wait for my books by Ms. Dorminy!

Sweet Home ... Well... Er... Georgia. This was a sweet and fun yet angsty look at small town Southern life mostly through the eyes of a woman who was raised as a damned Yankee. Being a native Georgian and actually having lived in Leesburg - home of Luke Bryan, Buster Posey, and Phillip Phillips and County Seat of Lee County, where the *real* Smithville, Georgia is located - I can testify personally that the small town life depicted here is pretty damn realistic. (And if you can't tell from the pair of D's I've already used, I can also testify from the side of being a bit of a black sheep/ outsider in these realms, despite arguably having a *deeper* connection to Southern History than many I've encountered in these real-life small Southern towns. ;) )

But you're not reading this book for reality. You're reading it for hilarity. And if you like the style of Southern rom-com ala Reese Witherspoon's Sweet Home Alabama, you're going to enjoy this tale. It's got plenty of fish out of water hilarity as this Yankee tries to learn Southern speech and customs. It's got the crazy old lady hilarity. It's got the zaniness of various family / friends / neighbors oddballs and their connections. And yes, it has a bit of heat (though nothing more than heavy kissing "on screen", for those that care about such things - either direction) and a lot of savory.

Overall, a solid "homemade" jam that has a deeper profile than many might expect, but hits all the notes it has to hit to be beloved by many who appreciate what it is. Very much recommended.

This is a Southern Small Town Romance. I have to say I grow up in a Southern Small town, and this may me remember all the reasons I wanted to leave it and all the reasons as an adult I want to go back. I have to say I really love when a character says "Bless your Heart" in this book because I remember my Grandmother smiling while saying that to people. I love all the Southern saying in this book because it had my laughing so hard. I also loved all the characters in this book, and so many of these characters are my favorite. I even loved the side characters. The romance in this book was so cute, but I hate that the two main character would not talk it out near the ending. The storyline was so well done. This is everything I want in a Southern Small Town Romance. I do not know why I never know of this book before seeing it on Netgalley, but I will have to pick up more books for this author. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Red Adept Publishing, LLC) or author (Cindy Dorminy) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This is my first book by this author and I am glad I chose to read this.
It is an interesting and charming romance. Andie is in trouble again but her grandmother has left her an inheritance requiring her to get cleaned up. Gunnar is the hot lawman with some secrets of his own. They are opposites in some unusual ways, while her life is an open book his is not. Well-written, there are scenes that almost brought me to tears that kept the story from being trite. And there is a happy ever after ending. This is on my recommended list.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Red Adept Publishing and NetGalley and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.

Andie Carson is an alcoholic who is on a first name basis with the police who bring her into the drunk tank. One day, she finds that her grandmother, whom she believed to be dead already, has died and left her a large inheritance. However, there are conditions. She has to sober up, run her grandmother’s bakery, and win a jam making contest. If she can’t do those things, the inheritance is given to the local church and Andie gets nothing. Maybe she can and maybe not.
This book is a southern charmer. It’s full of sweetness and light. Andie is a likable girl who could be someone you know. Gunnar Wills is a police officer in the small town where Andie’s grandmother's bakery is. He’s the love interest that a story like this must have. He’s reeling from a bad break-up. He’s sweet and handsome. I fell in love with him so will Andie? These characters are light and sweet. The conflicts are entertaining and the town is appealing. It seems like a place that could exist.
This book was sweet, if a bit predictable. I enjoyed the characters and setting very much.
Thank you to Cindy Drominy for this delectable offering.

In a Jam is a story about a woman who inherits millions of dollars from a family member she did not know. The catch is she has to get her act together to get the money. Right from the start, the story came across as odd to me. The woman is played off as an alcoholic blowing a .2 at the police station but yet can quit when she wants. I guess, right?. Anyway, to me, the main character came across as incredibly unlikable. I could not stand the narration on her part. I am sure that most people will find this a fun and cute story, it just really did not work for me.

In a Jam is the name of a coffee shop in Smithville, Georgia; it is also a metaphor for the protagonist’s life. This book is a bit deceptive in that it deals with significant issues such as alcohol abuse, loneliness, infidelity, family, friendship, loyalty, grief and loss while still maintaining a light and even humorous tone.

Andie Carson has hit rock bottom. She has been in and out of the drunk tank in South Boston, a “frequent flyer” with alcohol abuse. Her saving grace is her charm and a guardian angel in the form of Tinsley, a police officer. All this has the potential to change when she is informed that her grandmother (whom Andie was told died 15 years ago) has passed on and left her a coffee shop and millions of dollars won in a lottery. However, there are conditions and these conditions require an enormous amount of discipline for Andie to turn her life around.

Smithville, Georgia is a small town steeped in southern traditions where everyone knows everyone else’s business and on the verge of economic collapse. From Andie’s perspective the terms of her grandmother’s will are something to endure for the short-term on her way back to Boston. Once there she discovers that the need to “fit in” is really about “belonging” - finding her place in the world with people she can trust and love. The romantic interest is provided by Gunnar Wills, a local police officer.

I enjoyed the book as a fun, easy read. The book is told in first person narrative in alternating chapters featuring Andie and Gunnar. The cast of characters in this small town is an eclectic and eccentric bunch that add dimension to Andie’s experience. At times the story seemed to stretch beyond the believable (like a Boston police officer repeatedly calling Andie and Officer Wills to check on her progress and well-being), but this is a fictional work. The ending was satisfying, if a little predictable.

My thanks to the author, Red Adept Publishing, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing a digital ARC in exchange for an independent, honest review.

This review is being posted immediately to my GoodReads account and will be posted on Amazon upon publication.

I liked so many things about this book - Andie's journey and final acceptance by the town isfun and lovely to read about. The thing I liked most about Andie was her acceptance of herself and others as a flawed individuals. She doesn't judge them - even when they are judging her. Gunnar is definitely a good guy - a perfectly imperfect guy if you will. He had his heart broken by a girl who is quite a piece of work. Since that time he's been struggling to move forward. Meeting Andie seems to set him free from that cycle.

The strengths of this book definitely lie in the characters - not just Andie and Gunnar - but the other folks in the town. I really liked that the author didn't try to make the town a city of impossibly beautiful and perfect people. It also isn't a charming quaint town filled with successful small businesses and cute stores. It is a struggling town with a declining population that isn't rich by any measure - except in its people.

There are also a lot of tough topics tackled here - cheating, parental loss, child neglect and alienation, and alcoholism. These are mixed in with a lot of funny moments to lighten the load.

There is one aspect that I wish the author had maybe handled a little differently. Andie is an alcoholic - and for the course of the book except for three instances she stays away from drinking. The terms of her grandmother's will require it - and she toughs it out. Even in the face of a lot of temptation. Truthfully, I think most alcoholics do no have such an easy time of it. She begins the book waking up after spending the night in jail - something she has done many times before for public intoxication. This indicates a pretty significant reliance on binge drinking. I wish that the author had maybe included some time with Alcoholics Anonymous for Andie and maybe some therapy. Obviously, her journey in finding a family in the friends she makes and town she adopts helps her on the path to recovery, but that likely isn't enough. The church, love, and good friends get you through a lot of things - but to stay sober - she was going to need more support than that.

Overall - I give this 3.5 Stars - I'm looking forward to learning more about the town in future stories.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are my own.

I have to say first, the cover was the turning point in my decision to request this book. It's beatiful!
Andie's last adventures in Boston sent her straight to jail. It looks like the world is playing against her, until she's told that her grandmother passed away and she'd be the one inheriting the old coffee shop ☕. But along with the coffee shop, come three other requirements: she must stay sober, she must spend certain amount of time in town and she must get into the jam fair. So, it looks like a piece of cake. But what she's not taking into consideration is a fourth duty task, that has nothing like duty and feels not like a task.
The writer wrote a beautiful story here. Full of witty sparks and charming characters. I'm not from the south, but I got a full picture. I loved this book and I'm sure it will not be my last from this author.
Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Lacking in any sort of character development or depth in the story line, this book was definitely not for me. I thought the premise was promising but the reality was disappointing.
