This was sort of campy and fun with a serial killer sister and her sister who helps. Not as well executed as My Sister, the Serial Killer, but a solid and quick read, and an added layer MYTSK did not have. Free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Honestly, I felt like this book through you into everything in an overwhelming way that didn’t make sense. I made it only 26% in before calling it a DNF, it never made sense, and I felt like I jumped into the book in the middle. It was constantly repetitive with the wording and didn’t draw me in or hook me. Wasn’t a fan, and felt like a drag to read unfortunately. Personally, just wasn’t for me.

Who would guess that being the sister to a serial killer would end up being a good thing?

If you are looking for a creepy murder/suspense that is also offbeat and has you maybe rooting for one of the villains, definitely pick up this book, and be prepared to not be able to put it down. I highly recommend it!

One word crazy - crazy characters, crazy story, crazy ride! Carrie Lawrence is one year younger than her sister Becca, whereas Becca is outgoing, flashy, and psychotic - Carrie is quiet, straight laced, and an upstanding citizen. Becca is a serial killer, killing one every year for ten years, and makes Carrie help with the disposal of the bodies. Becca’s recent body is discovered by police along with the grave of thirteen bodies. There’s another serial killer & is coming after Carrie! Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

Carrie’s older sister Becca is a serial killer. Carrie is her unwilling accessory after-the-fact, helping her sister dispose of the bodies after the murderous deeds are done. It’s not that she wants to help Becca. She doesn’t. It’s not that she does it out of love. It’s not that either. It’s fear that — if she refused to help or if she went to the police — she would be pinned as the serial killer instead.

When the police discover bodies in a local park that Carrie never knew about, she worries that Becca has more victims than the ones she helped bury. But it quickly becomes clear that there’s a second serial killer in their small little town, and this one is after Carrie. She must now work with Becca to uncover his identity before she becomes one of his victims. Carrie only wants a peaceful, boring life free of serial killers. Becca wants to eliminate the competition.

Horrifyingly twisted, offbeat, and darkly humorous in its own way, “Look What You Made Me Do” by Elaine Murphy puts a different spin on serial killer thrillers. While a lot of books in this genre focus on the POV of either the victims or the serial killer, “Look What You Made Me Do” is told from the perspective of the killer’s sister who’s made complicit in the murders when her sister forces her to help dispose of the bodies. Gory and bone chilling at times, it makes you turn your head to clear your mind of certain scenes — and to let your stomach settle. However, it also makes you question how far sibling bonds can be stretched, and if someone forced to help cover up a psychopath’s crimes suffers from some psychopathy of their own. After all, Carrie could have gone to the police at any time, but never did.

“Look What You Made Me Do” is a book that sucks you in slowly, not immediately like others do. Extremely lengthy chapters slow down the pace and make it hard to get swept up in any action. It takes the second serial killer actively entering the story to actually hook you. That occurs sometime in the fourth chapter, but considering the first two chapters alone are 21 minutes and 24 minutes respectively, it feels like it takes forever. That said, it’s worth the wait if you can stick it out. The story eventually becomes so compelling, your urgent need to find out what happens next becomes the pacesetter rather than the story itself.

“Look What You Made Me Do” is unique in a deep sea of psychological and serial killer thrillers. It’s disturbing and twisted, filled with palpable tension and white-knuckle moments. It’s unsettling and unpredictable, especially with the twists that come as you start to near the end. The book takes you in directions you’d never expect, but it makes it well worth the read. If you’re a fan of serial killer thrillers like I am, this might be one that you’ll enjoy.

Carrie desperately wants a normal life. That is made increasingly difficult when your sister is a serial killer who has blackmailed you into helping cover up the murders.

When bodies are discovered, that Carrie and her sister Becca do not recognize, it appears there is a second serial killer on the loose. Carrie’s hope for a normal life becomes even more of a pipe dream when the new serial killer sets his sight on her.

A thrilling, dark, page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat searching for answers.

I really wanted to like this but I couldn’t get into the style. DNF, but promising for fans of suspense.

A+ for the title and the cover design! Look What You Made Me Do by Elaine Murphy is the book to read if you are in the mood for a book about sisters and serial killers. Or a sister who is a serial killer. And a sister who helps cover up the crimes.

YIKES.

Look:

A gripping thriller about a woman who must help cover the tracks of her serial killer sister — only to discover her sibling isn’t the only serial killer in town . . . and they’re both next on his kill list. Carrie wants a normal life. Carrie Lawrence doesn’t need a happily ever after. She’ll just settle for “after.” After a decade of helping her sister hide her victims. After a lifetime of lies. She just wants to be safe, boring, and not trekking through the woods at night with a dead body wrapped in a carpet.
Becca wants to get away with murder. Becca Lawrence doesn’t believe in happily ever after because she’s already happy. She’s gotten away with murder for a decade and has blackmailed her sister into helping her hide the evidence—what more could a girl want?

But first they have to stop a serial killer. When thirteen bodies are discovered in their small town, people are shocked. But not as shocked as Carrie, who thought she knew all the details of Becca’s sordid pastime. When Becca swears she’s not behind the grisly new crimes, they realize the town has a second serial killer who has the sisters in his sights, and what he wants is…Carrie.

This is a quick read, it’s fast and entertaining. I highly recommend especially if you enjoy darker books.

Carrie has a secret. Her sister Becca is a serial killer. Carrie has another secret. She helps her sister hide the bodies. When several bodies are found in a location that Carrie is unaware of, she begins to wonder if Beeca is going solo or worse...a second serial killer is in their town.
Strange things start to happen to Carrie and she wonders if Becca is up to her psychotic games until she realizes there IS a second serial killer and they want Carrie!

Fast paced, edge of your seat book. I couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen when I wasn't reading it and that's why I'm giving it 5 ⭐

A twisted story with so many villains, you’ll stay up late in the night, reading to see who wins. The battle of good versus evil has never been so twisted or deliciously cunning. I stayed up all night, needing to see how it ended.

"A gripping thriller about a woman who must help cover the tracks of her serial killer sister -- only to discover her sibling isn't the only serial killer in town . . . and they're both next on his kill list."

I absolutely LOVED this book. This is a very easy read that flows nicely. Jam packed with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is the first book I ever read with a female serial killer and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Its unexpected and riveting . Although this is classified as a thriller at times i found amusement and even laughed out loud. The ending is one you wont see coming!

I would highly recommend this book.

This book is non-stop action, creating a thrilling ride that quickly engages the reader. Sure, you may have to suspend disbelief on occasion, but it's an enjoyable read, and I liked the unique angle (female serial killer). There are some parts that are downright silly, which I'm not used to seeing in books such as this. The writing is solid and keeps the reader turning the pages. I look forward to reading more books from Murphy. (And I loved that fact that the title kept one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs in my head!)

A woman keeps covering up for her sister - who happens to be a serial killer - and the two discover more bodies than what they buried. Are there two serial killers in town? And what happens when they catch the other's attention?

Carrie would love to have a normal life with her boyfriend and her boring job, but that's never going to happen thanks to her older sister, Becca. Beautiful and popular, Becca knows what to do with people who get in her way - run them over literally. When Becca chooses another burial spot for her latest victim and forces Carrie to help her dispose of the body, they accidentally use another killer's site. And suddenly, the police find the bodies, and Carrie and Becca are both involved in a murder investigation with another killer hot on their heels. Can Carrie escape from two serial killers?

I loved the wickedness of this book, with Carrie the manipulated party and Becca as the evil puppetmaster that she desperately would love to escape from. I was a little surprised at the resolution of the two serial killers plot, and thought that after that, the book went on too long, and a second sub-plot really wasn't necessary.

2.5 stars ⭐️⭐️💫 rounded up

Carrie just wants to lead a normal life. Unfortunately for Carrie, her sister, Becca, is a serial killer. For a decade, Becca has blackmailed Carrie into helping her hide the bodies, each in a different location. One night while the sisters are burying a body in the woods, Carrie swears she sees someone. Then the next day, the news breaks that 13 bodies have been found in those same woods… but Becca and Carrie only buried one there. Turns out there’s a second serial killer in town, and he has his sights set on the sisters.

As other reviewers have mentioned, you can’t think too hard about this one. It’s more of a fun, “out there” read that is certainly entertaining, if not a bit ridiculous. The writing is strong and I’d check this author out again.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)

This was a fast paced read. Like some others have noted, there are some parts of this that may not work logically but it's easy to look past that when you're swept up in the story. I would definitely read more from this author!

Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with an advanced e-copy of this.

I was absolutely captivated by chapter two. This book does an amazing job of balancing tongue and cheek comedy with mystery and terror.

This is about two sisters, Becca, who is a serial killer and Carrie, who helps her hide the bodies. I’m really intrigued by the topic of female serial killers and this one did not disappoint. Becca is quick witted and cold, a very fun combination.

The action in this is non-stop, I found myself sitting for three hours and just absorbing the story. It has been a long time since I’ve been able to sit still and be so captivated by a story.

This contains some of my favorite mystery/thriller/horror tropes, and I can’t get into all of them because spoilers! But let me tell you, when I went to bed I hesitated a little when I turned off the lights!

While I did love so much of this book, it did go a little off the rails around the 70% mark but I just suspended my disbelief and kept going!

I think if you can suspend some of your disbelief and just enjoy this book you could love it. I’m very excited to read more from this author!

Don't think too hard on this one or you might have some things to nitpick...just sit back and enjoy the ride through this thriller that is an easy read and a good page turner.

Female serial killers aren't something you hear of too often so that is what made me want to read this one. This is a new to me author and her storyline is a little out there but the writing is strong.

Tongue in cheek (or foot in freezer) is not an approach I would have expected when treating with a slew of psychopaths, but, actually, it kind of works.
