Ever since Reese and his company announced their intent to purchase the Poseidon Oil drilling platform not only are there incidents that appear to be  sabotage on the platform but the attacks are becoming more personal targeting Reese himself.  When Reese and Kenzie declare their mutual attraction to each other these appear to extend to Kenzie as well.  Are these related or separate incidents that just appear to be suspiciously along the same timeline?
Reese's brother's Chase and Brandon and friend Jason from Maximum Security along with Tech Sleuth Tabby are on the job chasing down clues trying to get to the bottom of things. There's an FBI agent as well trying to get to the bottom of the helicopter crash but he seems to be more of a distraction than an integral part of the story.
When Kenzie's husband is murdered in cold blood with a gun registered to Kenzie she automatically becomes the top suspect especially since her husband was planning to sue her for full time custody of their son and left her the executor of a 3 million dollar life insurance policy of which her son is the only benefactor.  Then her son is kidnapped Now the 4 men jump into high gear trying to locate and save the child while getting to the bottom of the plot to stop the sale of the oil drilling platform.
Just when all the lose threads are tied and things seem to be heading for a happily ever after all the author pulls one last bullet from her arsenal. All in all a typical fast paced enjoyable romantic suspense from the author.

Another successful romantic suspense novel from Kat Martin. Tough to put down, filled with non-stop action and romance. Can Reese figure out who's behind all the accidents before he or someone he loves is injured? Some of the incidents are too close for comfort, but he and Kenzie r g in until the culprit is not identified and eliminated.

Although part of a series this story can be read as a standalone book.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

Pretty good storyline. Just an easy read, something that doesn't need a lot of concentration - no need to keep track of a million characters. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

"The Perfect Murder" is a wonderful addition the the Maximum Security Series. The characters are great and I enjoyed catching up with the Garett Brothers and the other members of the Maximum Security Team. You can always depend on Kat Martin for a plot that often takes a twisty path, a hot romance and edge of your seat suspense.

Reese Garrett is the oldest brother of the three Garrett brothers as well as the CEO of their company, Garrett Resources. He is definitely the love em and leave em type since his nasty divorce. His company is the most important thing right now as they are in the middle of acquiring an off shore drilling rig, the Poseidon.

McKenzie (Kenzie) Haines has her own priorities: her son and her job. As Executive Assistant to the CEO of Garrett Resources, she does an excellent job and is not about to let her attraction to her boss get in the way. This is a great job and Reese is a great boss.

As Reese takes a trip to see the offshore rig, the helicopter crashes and it is later discovered that it was sabotage. No one messes with a Garrett and soon the resources of the Garrett family are on a mission to find out who was behind the crash and why. When Kenzie's ex is murdered, the Garrett investigation heads in a new direction and Reese, Kenzie and her son all end up in danger.

I've been enjoying Kat Martin's Maximum Security series, and The Perfect Murder is no exception. While the previous titles have featured the members of the Maximum Security team, this title is more of a spinoff, with the hero being Reese Garrett, billionaire CEO of Garrett Resources, who is in negotiations to purchase a high-producing oil drilling platform in the Gulf, and as the novel opens he and several of his associates are heading there in a helicopter when things go horribly awry, and while there are survivors of the hard, ill-timed landing, two men are dead, and Reese wants to know why, and this novel takes off with guns a blazing, and doesn't let up until the exciting finish--it was a 4-star read for me.

Aside from the suspense, danger and violence in this novel, there is also an unlikely romance. Reese has been denying his attraction to his executive assistant, McKenzie (Kenzie) Haines, since she was hired 6 months earlier. She's equally attracted to her tall, handsome, billionaire boss, but since she plans his dates, she is well aware that he dates many beautiful women and doesn't do long-term relationships. She's a busy divorcee with a 9-year-old son, Griffin, and she doesn't see herself as in the running for Reese's affections. All that is about to change when Kenzie's ex-husband, Lee, is murdered, the clues lead to her as his killer, and the facts of her abuse at his hands, and his attempts to gain custody of his son, make her the prime suspect in his murder.

Ms. Martin has crafted a tangled web of mystery, danger, suspense, and violence in this novel, with just the right amount of romance and heat between Kenzie and Reese, and, as the novel progresses, all the aforementioned elements ratchet up into one well-written, exciting read. It's an excellent addition to the series, and I'm happy to recommend it.

Reece is trying to buy an off shore drill rig but problems keep popping up. Kenzie, his assistant, is divorced with a young son to support. The attraction between Reece and Kenzie is just below the surface. Problems with the merger increase, murder, sabotage and kidnapping keep the suspense growing with every page. I loved the main characters and enjoyed the storyline. We knew who the bad guys were but weren’t sure how things would be resolved. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Another heart-stopping Kat Martin romantic suspense! Reese is trying to acquire an offshore drilling platform to build out the company. Kenzie helps any way she can as his assistant while still trying to raise her son. But when the danger stops at all of their doors, the chemistry heats up as well. Romantic suspense in all its glory.

There are more than a few bad guys in, The Perfect Murder. Kept me guessing the whole time. Kenzie's little family is so cute. Reese is a lucky man to get a chance to become part of it.

This book, unfortunately, did not hit the mark for me. i did not enjoy the characters, and found the plotting weak and contrived.

Kat Martin's Maximum Security series never disappoints - fast paced romantic suspense that you can't put
down! The action starts from the beginning with helicopter sabotage, murder, kidnapping and of course romance
simmering just below the surface between Kenzie & Reese. Another great addition to this series - thank you
NetGalley!

Another suspenseful and daring romance from Kat Martin. This Garrett brothers really can’t seem to avoid trouble, and this time it’s CEO Reese’s turn for action. The intrigue is centered around the oil industry and shady dealings, so no jungle rescues this time (unlike most of this series). The romance unfolded at a believable pace, during heightened circumstances, and the action kept me on the edge of my seat, as usual.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

A great addition to the Maximum Security series. The characters are wonderful, and the story line has just enough intrigue and twists to keep it interesting.

This is another thriller/romance from Kat Martin that will draw you in from the first page. Don’t start reading it if you don’t have time to gobble it up or you’ll find yourself staying up late or ignoring your to-do list.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I loved this book, I could not put it down because the action started on page one and The Perfect Murder is well worth the read. Reese and Kenzie have chemistry that basically shoots fireworks off the page. Between trying to figure out who is trying to kill Reese, there is also danger coming at Kenzie's family that we don't see coming however it all ties together. I love that we get to see Reese's alpha personality and his strength, but also the strength he gets from his brothers, Chase and Bran. When the three work together they are an unstoppable force and its amazing to watch. I highly recommend this book and series!

Of the Garrett brothers, Reese is the one who is outside of the security business. He is a successful businessman who supplies energy in the form of oil and gas. When his latest acquisition is plagued with issues including a near death experience, Reese reluctantly pulls in his brothers in to help.

I loved the fast pace of this story which unfolds into a tale of blackmail, greed and disgrace. Kenzie is the best executive assistance Reese has hired. He depends on her. Even if he is attracted to her, he is a gentleman and leaves her be. Kenzie knows first how how it is like to be burned by a man. Her ex-husband is a lesson she will not soon forget. When she becomes involved with Reese, things quickly spiral out of control.

What I liked about this story is the many layers and motivations for sabotaging Reese's business deal. At first glance, unfortunate incidents come across as random events. As Reese dives into the details, he starts to see a pattern. I love when people see patters and pull on the thread to determine the root cause. Ms. Martin's writing style is becoming more complex in her suspense plots. I am really enjoying this hard hitting suspense. The blend of a forbidden boss/underlying romance as an element of salaciousness that complicates the issues at hand. I enjoyed how the subplots are expertly woven into the suspense.

Reese and Kenzie's chemistry is just right. Their hesitancy yet undeniable attraction is just the right sexual tension for a suspense story. I liked both characters because they are straightforward problem solvers who are not afraid of responsibility. They do not shirk their duties and they take ownership for mistakes made. These are my kind of people. This romantic suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy a fast pace thriller with a balancing element of romance.

THE PERFECT MURDER is the newest entry in Kat Martin’s RS series about the wealthy (of course), good looking (naturally), in need of a good woman Garrett brothers. Being Kat Martin of course, there is some suspense and mystery thrown in. This time the reader is treated to brother Reese. He’s the oldest and most powerful of the brothers. After his helicopter mysteriously crashes on the way out to an oil rig site, Reese is determined to find out who caused the sabotage and why. His brothers are right there to help him solve the mystery. Interesting RS, and a treat for fans of the author.

This was a good crime read! I read in one sitting! Not bad overall! The writing was good! The characters were meh. But I did enjoy the story!
