This book grabbed my attention from the first page and I struggled to put it down and be a responsible adult. The characters are well written. I love the background friendship between Paisley and James. This is not a predictable story and I was glued to the book struggling to put it down because I needed to know what was going to happen next and telling myself I would only read a few more pages but not being able to stop there. I highly recommend this book but would suggest not to start reading it until you can block out some time because once you start you won’t be able to stop.

I read my first Paige Edwards book about a year ago, so when I heard about this one I couldn't wait for the release date. I love the cover, isn't it stunning? And the story inside grabbed me right from the start.

Paisley Clark's life has hit a rough patch. Her photography business isn't doing well so she's waiting tables and had to move back in with her mother. Because things aren't going well in her life, when a DNA test leads to an opportunity to go to Scotland to meet the father she doesn't remember, Paisley feels she has nothing to lose. James Pressley-Coombes is sent to Scotland to work on a project for the family business. He is surprised to see his long-time friend Paisley there. These two unexpectedly find themselves in the middle of a dangerous situation and adjusting to changes in their friendship.

As I said, this book grabbed me from the prologue and it didn't let go until the end--I read it in a little more than a day. I felt for Paisley. Her mother wasn't very loving and put her career first, but didn't really want Paisley to know about her father. When she arrives in Scotland and finds out who her father is I felt Paisley still didn't have a parental relationship she had longed for all of her life.

Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres and Paige Edwards certainly delivers. The suspense had me reading way past my bedtime wondering how it was going to end. There are several characters that could've been behind it all, and for once I was correct in my guess--that never happens. I thought the changes in Paisley and James' relationship came across as natural and not forced. I liked that although she's cared for James since high school, she didn't just jump from like to love. I did find her father overbearing, especially where James is considered. He acted as if Paisley had just met James when they've been friends for years.

James is great! He's sweet, kind and thoughtful. I liked how he was there for Paisley to help her through all the changes that happened once she arrived in Scotland. I really liked James' closeness to his siblings, especially his twin brother, and that he could turn to them for advice. Scotland!! The scenes the author describes just makes me want to go and see it all for myself. The green hills and castles. I just don't want to go in the winter--too cold for this southern girl, and I don't think I'll be eating any Haggis (I'm not that brave or adventurous an eater).

If you like romantic suspense or suspense don't pass up a chance to read this book. This is a clean romance and the suspenseful and violent are not graphic. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher Covenant Communications through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Covenant Communications (the publishing arm of the LDS Church) presents a well-written faith-based novel that seems more like a romance novel than a suspense novel. Having said that, it did hold this reader's attention. Though the action begins in Virginia, it quickly moves to Scotland where Paisley finds herself in the midst of a mystery that would threaten her life and the lives of those around her.

At the same time, a childhood friend finds his job also moving him to Scotland - together they would need to unravel the “Danger on the Loch”. Together they would also need to discover the meaning of love.

Though the reading was a bit slower than I would like (romance might do that for me), the scenery, locations, and people of Scotland provided an interesting backdrop for this charming novel. I give the book four stars.

This is the first book I have read from this author. The story moved slowly for me, at least for the first half of the book. The dialogue and characters felt stunted. As the story progressed it felt more cohesive and flowed better. The villain was relatively easy to predict, but there were some interesting twists. The local of the story was interesting, making me desire to travel to Scotland.

I've spent the previous couple of weeks prepping for this book to be released. When the cover was first revealed I was pulled in by the beauty and uniqueness of it that I just had to read it. All you who read books because of the cover understand. ;-) So as the release date came closer I went back and read the two previous books in this series because I needed to be all caught up. I'd eyed those books as well but with having so many books on my list they were lost in the pile. I'd thought about them and planned to read them (I even owned copies) but you know...life. Well I told myself it was past time to remedy reading this author's books. So I quickly binged listened to Catherine's Intrigue and Deadly by Design. Let me tell you I was hooked from the beginning of the first book. Now I've listened to the first two and read this one, I need more! Hahaha! I'll be patient though while the author works on the next book for the series.

These books fit so well together and I highly recommend that you read them in order. There's so much that you need to know. If you're not able to, well, I think you'd be fine reading this one as a stand alone. It's written to make that a possibility but the history is worth reading all three.

James is a Presley-Coombes. His siblings are the main characters in the previous books. I loved finding out more about him and Paisley in this one. I loved how James' family took Paisley under their wings and cared for her. That was fun to watch that friendship of many years be built upon. Of course, between James and Paisley, it builds to more than just friends.

There are many possibilities of who the bad guy could be. I honed in on them pretty quickly once all the characters were introduced. Woohoo, my detective brain is working great right now. Hee Hee! But the author did a great job of casting plenty of suspicions and doubts on several characters. Well done Paige Edwards!

Watch out for the danger on the Loch and other waters. Paisley, just stay away from the water. Honey, trust me! ;-) There were a couple characters who I really hoped would have some redemption. If you're going to read it, can you figure out who they are?

Not only was the suspense and danger and mystery woven together so well in this book, but the romance was very sweet. There's a history with the Presley-Coombes family and them finding love. It's explained in all three books so no worries about not understanding that history if you just read one of the books. James and Paisley were just so cute together. They had a few late night adventures, one was pretty fluffy and cute (can you guess, hmmm, maybe not but you'll laugh and smile big at that scene, at least I did). I was left with a happy sigh after their scenes together. So good!!!

There is so much more within the pages of this book, but I'll let you dive in and enjoy it for yourself and form your own opinions. But just know that I do highly recommend this book!

Content: Clean. Some moments of peril, some death and attacks but nothing overly graphic. There is nothing more than some kisses in the book. This book is considered Christian Fiction as well as it talks about church and God and religion. Specifically that of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I received a review copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. And have purchased my own copy as well. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This isn't listed as a series, but it is. I really enjoyed Catherine's story and still need to read Jack's. That being said, you can read this book as a stand alone. Paisley was such a likable character. I really felt for her and longed for her to find the love she deserved. I was so glad she had James' family as a pseudo family and all the love they gave to her. This was another great romantic suspense and friends to lovers story. I enjoyed the mystery and suspense, but my favorite was definitely the relationship between Paisley and James.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through Netgalley, but this is my honest review.

My first Paige Edwards story, but not my last. Lots of action, well developed characters and Scotland. Paisley is a great young woman who is getting to meet her father for the first time in her life, as her parents had divorced when she was a little child. The story revolves around her going to Scotland, where things get interesting. James has been friends with Paisley forever, and shows up in Scotland to work with her father...you get the picture! Throw in lots of mystery, murder, and terrorists and you have a story you won't be able to put down! Simply perfect!

This was an amazing book. The twists and turns kept me engaged through the whole story. I loved these characters. Paige Edwards gets better with each book she writes.

Paige Edwards is an author whose books I have come to anticipate and enjoy because romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. Oh, and props to the cover art. It's another beautiful one by this publisher.

Paisley has quite a few big changes come her way all at once. I thought she was a likeable character with a kind heart and a good head on her shoulders. Her relationship with James was more friendship based as they have known each other most of their lives but it made for a strong, dependable foundation. The relationship progressed but the plot was responsible for the forward momentum of the story. I liked how little nuggets were given along the way to draw suspicion to different characters but I always had my eye on the true culprit which I'm sure was meant to be. The nuggets and intense moments all came together for one final explosive ending. It was a fun ride. I think one of things that I really loved was the ending. After the big finale, the author brought things back down and wrapped the characters and plot up with a nice bow. It left me with a warm fuzzy feeling. I love happy endings after rough roads.

I also loved traveling in Scotland for this book. It's a place I'd love to visit one day and this book made me want to bump it up on my travel list but you will not find me eating Haggis. 😂

Content: kissing, peril, violence. Some mild Christian elements.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review; all opinions reflected below are my own!

“Danger on the Loch” is a book full of surprises! I had never had the chance to read anything by Paige Edwards before and having read this book now, I believe I’m ready to navigate the rest of her works.
I was positively impressed by this one. Even from the first opening pages, Edwards does a splendid job at helping you visualise the setting – the landscapes, the descriptions are vivid and they all come to life as you’re going through the pages of this book. Descriptions are a hit or miss for me because there are cases where you want the descriptions to stop, but this wasn’t such a case. Everything felt vibrant and mystical when appropriate and it was great getting to see the different settings unfold in front of our eyes. This, of course, is indicative of Edwards’ beautiful writing, which I think should be complimented.

Furthermore, I loved the characters! Paisley and James, in particular, are well-thought out characters and characters with substance. I enjoyed their interactions and their individual backgrounds and stories, which made the reading experience much better. While I was reading this, I realised there are books out on the individual stories of two of James’ siblings and now I am excited to check those out! We got a few hints about how their lives turned out so now I am intrigued regarding their journeys. I think it might be worth labelling these novels as a series, with each book being able to be read as a standalone of course, because then people wouldn’t miss out on the other books!
In addition to interesting main character, this book incorporates intriguing secondary characters, through either individual perspectives or through the perspective of the main characters. Either way, I was fascinated by those stories as well.

The elements of mystery and suspense are present and they will keep you guessing until you’ve reached the revelation part of the story. My wish is that the ‘revealing of things’ section of the story was a bit more fleshed out. It did feel a bit rushed in my opinion and I would have loved to be on the edge of my seat for a bit longer and take the time to read a methodical revelation and explanation of events. Another aspect I would have liked to see has to do with inner monologue; although we got satisfying inner monologue moments with James, with Paisley sometimes we got reactions and not a lot of inner contemplation during a few heated and intense moments. This could be a personal preference but it could add a lot more depth to her already fascinating character!

Overall, I was really happy with this read and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who wishes to read about mystery that meets romance and self-discovery in a haunting setting!

Thank you again to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for sending me an ARC of “Danger on the Loch”!

Story Notes

Gifting herself a DNA ancestry kit for her birthday brings Paisley much more than just a history of her family; it brings her the father she doesn't remember, a titled life and a chance at love with a life-long friend.

Having heard praise for this book for many weeks, I was very excited to finally get a chance to read it for myself. Anything written about or in the country of Scotland is fascinating to me and therefore this book was going to be even better given that and the other plot points. Paisley Clark has long wanted to know her father and her history but her mother has never given her any real clues nor encouraged digging deeper. She gifted herself a DNA kit for her birthday and has gotten both a parental match and message from her father, however, she isn't sure whether to meet him yet. But with her mother getting remarried and losing her current home in one fell swoop, Paisley makes the impulsive decision to accept her father's invitation to come to his home in Scotland and get to know each other. Not certain what she will find or whether she will like it, Paisley determines to be brave and forge her own path in spite of her mothers disapproval. Her father, Cameron Douglas, meets her at the airport and begins to fill in the empty blanks from her past. It's hard to decide which is the most shocking revelation, though; the fact that her father is a British Duke, making her a Lady with a capital "L" , or the fact that Kinross (Cameron) has always wanted to be in her life - totally opposite of what her mother has always told her. Paisley is still pondering all this information when she arrives at the family home, Castle Rannoch, and is introduced to the rest of her family. Her father's second wife is a bit cold towards her but as she isn't much kinder to anyone, Paisley determines to win her over. The appearance of her life-long friend, James, is a welcome blessing in the midst of all the strangeness of her new surroundings and Paisley is glad to hear he is now working with her father on his resort project. But there are suspicious happenings going on at Castle Rannoch and no one is talking about them much. What secrets does this place hold and what is Kinross keeping quiet about? Paisley is determined to find out and will take James along with her. Spending time together brings a chance for them to become more than friends but Paisley is wary of James ability to commit given his long string of girlfriends over the years. Can he convince her that she is the one he has been looking for all along but never could see or will she brush him off? You'll have to read the story to find out the answer to this and all the other questions you're sure to have by now. I loved the carefully crafted plot of this story. It had a marvelous build up and natural flow of events with just the right punches of action and danger to keep a delightful amount of tension going strong through the pages. Paisley was equal parts brave and imaginative and I loved her view of the world. She was a bit jaded towards relationships given how her mother raised her but she didn't let it hold her back from reaching out for her father or, later, for James. The mystery presented at the beginning was slowly revealed in snatches from other perspectives and gave the story some good depth and intriguing chill. James was a great counterpart to Paisley, challenging her to move outside her comfort zone and not give up her dreams. He was a bit oblivious when it came to compliments and showing his heart but that just made him that much better of a character. It gave Paisley a chance to draw him out and find her own courage regarding her future. I will certainly be highly recommending this book to others, hoping they will enjoy it as I did. I plan to add a copy of it to my shelves soon so I can read it again. Here's hoping Ms. Edwards has another wonderful book out very soon!

Wow! This was such a good book, I loved the characters and the suspense. Danger on the Loch is written by Paige Edwards and it was a wonderful book. Danger on the Loch features Paisley Clark who has been raised by her cold distant mother, and when a DNA test brings her into contact with the father she has been longing for she jumps for a chance to see him. When she arrives in Scotland, Paisley learns that things are really not as they see. James finds himself in Scotland per orders from his father regarding his job. He never expected to find Paisley there or find himself in the middle of a mystery that could very well be the end of them both.
I really liked Paisley and James. They were just likable characters. Paisley had learned to be independent because of her relationship with her mother, but she was still searching for someone to accept her. She was such a great character, and she didn’t overreact in any of the situations. She was kind and tried her best to mend the relationship with her father. And I just really liked Paisley
James was a sweetheart! He was super kind and super energetic. I loved his little quirks and how he cared for Paisley. They were friends first, and I thought that it was the cutest thing.
I really enjoyed the romance and the suspense from this book. I was on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. Paisley was trying to find out how to mend the relationship with her father. James was trying to figure out how to care for Paisley, and how to do his job that brought him to Scotland. I loved reading about Paisley and James’ relationship grow from friends to lovers. Also, the suspense about what was going on with Paisley’s father and his company had me the whole time.
I would definitely recommend Danger on the Loch! There is some violence, but it isn’t really violent. And there are aspects of the Christian faith but it doesn't really feel preachy to me. I can't wait to read Edwards' other books! Danger on the Loch is a clean, suspense book.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.

This book combined so many things I love into a fantastic suspense novel! When Paisley searches for her birth father, she discovers he is a Duke living in Scotland. When she goes to meet him, she finds herself in the middle of some nefarious activity, and it was exciting to see everything eventually get resolved. Paisley’s life long friend, James, is also there on business. I enjoyed the friends to lovers relationship and the way James and Paisley supported each other. The ending was action packed, with a few unexpected twists!
If you enjoy suspense, Christian, and romance genres, this is a great pick!

The romantic suspense novel of Danger on the Loch immediately captured me into a tangled web of murder, secrets, deceit, and criminal activity. With many of the characters hiding behind friendly facades, I found myself suspicious and wary, even the police officials.

Paisley Clark is passionate about photography. As she looks for “just the right shot” I found this to be an important and endearing part of Paisley’s character. She doesn’t mean to be so daring, it just happens when she tries to capture what she sees. Watching her enthusiasm and child-like exuberance is what draws James Pressley-Coombes to Paisley. It was sweet to see him realize that Paisley, his childhood friend, was the woman he loved and grew to cherish and protect.

While I liked Paisley and James, I liked the dowager Cameron (Granny) the most. She opened up her heart to Paisley and gave her love, a sense of belonging, and a legacy that would always be treasured.

I enjoyed the descriptive writing of the Scottish countryside, drawing me in so I felt I was there looking out on the moor, the dark caves, and the mysterious loch. The Gaelic sayings that were interspersed throughout the book added to the charm of the characters. I appreciated having a glossary of Scottish sayings for things I may not have known and it was easy to refer to it if needed.

While this is a stand alone book, there are two more books that involve the Pressley-Coombes family. I look forward to reading the other stories and recommend this book.

“Paisley's DNA test links her to the father she doesn't remember and a heritage and name not her own.”

Danger on the Loch is one of the best books I have ever read. Not just this year. Ever. I don’t write that statement often. To say I loved everything about this story feels like an understatement. Excellent writing combined with well-crafted characters for an edge-of-your seat adventure.

I like how the relationships developed naturally while the characters pursued their individual goals. The romance was well-balanced with mystery and humor. The Pressley-Coombes family is one anyone would want to be friends with. Readers get to become just that as they get to know the characters better throughout the story. I loved Jamie’s (James’) chivalry, Paisley’s strength, and Granny’s spunk. I also admire Paisley’s conviction to stay true to herself and hold fast to her morals and beliefs when faced with displeasing a father she wants so much to impress. Torquil and Mrs. Grant were two more of my favorite characters.

There were a few scenes late in the story that did not flow as well as the rest of the story, but the sweet ending more than made up for it. This was the first I have read by Paige Edwards. Thirty percent into Danger on the Loch I knew I had to read more by this talented author. I purchased the first two Pressley-Coombes books and pre-ordered a physical copy of Danger on the Loch. I highly recommend this author to anyone who enjoys sweet, clean romantic suspense. 5/5

Paisley Clark has hit a difficult patch in life. Paisley tried to start a photography business but is now working at a diner and living with her mother. Her mother is a lawyer who has always been emotionally disengaged from Paisley. Paisley knows very little about her father. Her mother is in a relationship and planning to get married in a month and the insinuation is that Paisley needs to be out of the house.
Paisley had done a DNA tested and at this critical point a message comes in from her father who connected to her through DNA. He lives in Scotland and would like Paisley to come visit. This is a boon and Paisley flies to Scotland. There she learns she has an entirely different name and status.
While she was growing up, the Pressley-Coombes family watched over and helped Paisley. James Pressley-Coombes has always been her friend. He is in Scotland working with Paisley’s father to build and market a resort. Seeing Paisley in this new environment opens James eyes to his feelings for her.
In the middle of this is a plot that develops as the book goes on. It seems terrorists may be acting in Scotland.
I was carried along on the wings of this story. I love Paisley and her character development. I love Granny, Paisley’s fairy grandmother. I enjoyed the ending.
I was thoroughly thrilled to be given the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

This book was so good! It's a well written story that has everything that makes a book great. It has just the right amount of mystery, suspense, drama and romance. I loved it! Thank you Covenant Communications via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

When I read the summary for this book, I was intrigued. I mostly read historical fiction but wanted to give this one a try because it sounded interesting and the cover was beautiful. Unfortunately, I didn't love it. For the first half of the book, I had a really hard time getting into it. I picked it up and put it down several times; it just didn't hold my interest.

The author's prose and descriptions were lovely.Paisley and James were fine, but I didn't feel overly connected to them. Overall, I didn't love the book BUT I do see why someone else would. I'll probably go back to historical fiction after this read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Think: Early 00’s chick flick (ie. What a Girl Wants) meets corporate espionage/terrorist threat meets Scotland. This is what you get when you read Danger on the Loch. Filled with high action moments you still get the romance you crave with a classic Cinderella moment. Well done Paige Edwards!
