"Danger on the Loch" is a romantic suspense novel. The main focus was on Paisley's reunion with her father and growing romantic attraction to James, but there was a suspense element as well. Paisley always liked James since he and his family were there for her as she grew up. However, James didn't realize that he was attracted to her until they were both in Scotland and she needed his support in dealing with her father and his family.

The main characters were likable and reacted realistically to events. The suspense came from relationship tensions and the viewpoint of someone being blackmailed into hurting Paisley's family. There was physical danger to Paisley and James after they accidentally witnessed someone--are they terrorists?--testing a deadly poison on animals. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable story.

Paisley and James were always friends and she watched him date all her friends. Paisley has always felt a little out of place, even in her own family. Her dad left when she was a baby and she never knew him. Her mom always valued her career.

Paige Edwards writes a fantastic suspense that keeps a reader hooked and guessing. Things are definitely not always what they seem. Add a little romance and you have a perfect book to read. Don't start it at bedtime or a book hangover will definitely happen.

This is part of a bigger series, but can be read as a standalone. Elements of family and faith bring a wholesome quality to a story of intrigue, terrorists, and suspense. Both James and Paisley find themselves inadvertently drawn in to the bigger mystery which causes some tense situations.

You won't regret spending a few hours in this world. It was a fascinating escape.

I received an early copy from the publisher and this is my honest review.

I got the feeling from the way some side characters were mentioned that this book was actually part of a series, so I did a little digging on Goodreads and it turns out that it is part of a loosely related series, with two other stories about characters mentioned in this book, although Goodreads doesn't officially list these books as a series. Weird. Regardless, this story worked fine as a stand-alone. I liked the characters of Paisley and James, and a number of the side characters were fun, too. Despite the fact that I'd figured out who the "bad guy" was fairly early on, I still enjoyed the unfolding of the mystery. And the setting of the Scottish highlands reminded me of how badly I'd someday love to visit this land of some of my forebears! Hopefully, a next book in the series will give us a story of James's twin, Ben.

Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the eARC!

I didn't realized until after I finished this book that it is the third in a series, which would have been good information before I started! I felt like I'd been plunked down into a world where I was expected to know what was going on but I didn't. I was expecting more exposition, but there was not much. Therefore, it took me a long time to get into the characters and really begin to care for them. The character development and dialogue kept this from being a truly outstanding book.

On the other hand, the last half of the book was really compelling! Great buildup, solid mystery, strong resolution. I will be looking for the others in the deities!

This book was ok, but maybe a bit overly complicated for what it was, and a bit far-fetched. There were so many characters to keep track of. This made more sense when I realized that it was part of a series.

I thought the religious element was a bit odd too, it seemed limited to dressing modestly and not drinking.
Still, the story was enjoyable. Thanks Netgalley and publishers for the free E-arc

Wow!!!! I have been a fan of Paige Edwards from the first book of hers I read and she did not disappoint with Danger on the Loch. It’s full of mystery, suspense with a side of romance. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and you won’t want to put it down!

Who doesn’t enjoy a story that includes a Scottish castle and a mystery? The setting really made the book! The attraction between Paisley and James was sweet but not 🔥. Their relationship was a bit immature and simple so I was not attached to them as much as I would had liked. I had issues with the father all of sudden being overprotective of his adult daughter who he (no matter the explanation) abandoned. If you are looking for a clean book with a great Scottish mystery - I would definitely recommend this one.

This book had me from the beginning. It is full of family drama, intrigue, romance and beautiful backdrops. The characters are well written and developed. Paisley and James are the perfect compliment to each other. I read this book in one day, that's how good it is! I would highly recommend.

DANGER ON THE LOCH by PAIGE EDWARDS is an exciting romantic thriller that takes place in Scotland. It is well written, with a great plot and interesting characters.
When Paisley Clark travels to Scotland to meet the father she has been told abandoned her, she not only finds that this is not true, but she also finds love and adventure.
I like the descriptions of Scotland and of life in a duke's castle and the Christian message of hope and God's protection that runs through the story.
I am not going to tell you anything more as I do not want to spoil things for you, excepting to say that it is a worthwhile and nail biting read for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Covenant Communications. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Raised by a cold and distant mother, photographer Paisley Clark has spent her life daydreaming about the father she doesn’t remember. Paisley’s dream turns to reality when a DNA test brings her in contact with the mysterious man.
Great story! a heroine looking for the father she doesn't remember, family, friendship, romance, suspense, betrayal, and more. What an engaging journey of discovery!

Paisley ends up in Scotland, visiting her long-lost dad, Kinross.

Unbeknownst to Kinross, there is someone plotting. And he, his household, and even his land are about to be in the cross hairs.

Paisley is pleasantly surprised to find a long-time friend there, James Pressley-Coombes. Along with getting used to a new country and a new family... she starts to see James in a whole new way.

This is a great action-packed book. It's very hard to put down (I read it in less than a day). It's fun, has witty dialogue, and keeps your attention. The ending is really great too! It has underlying LDS themes, and has no swearing or sex scenes.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

Paisley Clark feels all alone, raised by her single mother, who gives very little affection. Her surrogate family, the Pressley-Coombs, have always been there when she needed them. When she finds out that her father lives in Scotland, and wants her to come visit him, she longs to have a parent who sees her.
James Pressley-Coombs is headed to Scotland, to be a part of a project, his father and a business associate, are planning. James, leaves behind his twin brother, Ben. When he reaches Scotland he is surprised by an unexpected connection between the business associate, he has never met. A book that was hard to put down, I loved it.

Suspense, danger and romance what could be better?
A wonderful book that weaves the elements of danger, suspense and romance together in a way that makes you not want to put it down. Add in surprising revelations and chances for happiness that seemed impossible to achieve and this book is sure to please. Paisley has been raised by her mother who refused to even speak of her ex-husband, Paisley’s dad. Paisley had been told that her father had abandoned them when she was very young and that her name had been changed. For her twenty fourth birthday, Paisley completes a DNA test and is notified of a parental connection. After contact is made Paisley heads to Scotland to meet the father she has never known only to be met with mysteries, suspense, family and romance. This is the third book featuring some of the same characters but is definitely able to be read as a standalone. I can highly recommend all three as very good books. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Danger on the Loch started out great! There was murder, mystery, theft, intrigue and a brewing romance! Then at 75% in it seemed like the author forgot about all of the strings she had spinning and decided to tie them all together really quickly in a very predictive way. Which was a bummer because I was enjoying getting lost in another world.

Pros:
We have an everyday normal girl who finds out she’s royalty!
We have a friends to lovers romance.
We have a mystery to solve!

Cons:
The author spent time lining up events in the novel but tied them up way too quickly. It was too predictive.
The ending was too fluffy.
The romance was a slow build and then magically they started calling each other “baby” and were throwing around the words “I love you” like it was candy.
Paisley, the main character, just kind of rolled with everything. There was no diatribe against any of the things that were said or done to her. There wasn’t even any internal monologue about her feelings about her new settings. If it were me or anyone I knew, we’d be throwing hissy fits over parents not telling us the truth for all of our lives. We wouldn’t just get over it and roll with the punches.

All in all, this novel had a great pace. It’s a Christian novel so there’s a couple of scenes where they pray. If that’s your jam then this will be your book. If prayer is not your jam then you will still enjoy this book but can skip maybe two pages.

I received an ARC from NetGalley for review.
