Whoa! Cliffhanger much? No problem though! I enjoyed this book thorougly. It was light enough to get through quickly and easily in the midst of pandemic anxiety and good enough to keep me hooked and wanting to learn more about her powers, kind of like her 😊

Very entertaining. Endearing characters who you can't help but love more and more. I mean, talk about SQUAD when it comes to Sabine, even Thalia.

Can't wait for the 3rd installment. Come on, June!

Wow, this book was really good - an adventure wrapped inside the pages of a book.

"Calla escaped Morbeth only to find herself fighting for her life once more. Incendia seemed the perfect sanctuary of escape. The stories told of the mystical island claim all inhabitants were annihilated. Those tragic tales . . . were lies. Desperate to keep their truth hidden, the islanders take Calla and her friends prisoner. Despite her dire situation, something about that beautiful—yet deadly—paradise speaks to Calla’s soul, whispering the powerful secrets pulsing through her veins. As Roehl hunts for her, eager to claim his murderous vengeance, Calla searches for answers she believes only Incendia can offer.
Can Calla harness the power surging within her in time to protect herself, and those she loves, from Roehl? Or, no matter where she runs, will the twisted royal continue to chase her to the farthest reaches of any realm?"

A lot was packed into this book. There was loyalty, friendship, love, betrayal, surprises, and magic! Calla grew a lot in this book. She is faced with many obstacles and challenges but yet she is strong and pulls through. I also enjoyed reading more of Trystan and Calla and am interested in continuing to follow their story!

I'm so happy with the end of the book and how she acted. The book did end with a cliffhanger but that only makes me want to read the next book even more.

Overall, I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy, action, adventure, and romance!

I've been so excited for the release of book two in the Heir of Blood and Fire series since finishing book one, and the author did not disappoint. In book one I'd wanted more scenes with Trystan and I definitely got them in this story. Book two pretty much continues from where book one left off. Calla has finally reached the Kingdom of Incendia, with the hopes of finding answers, but that's not all she gets. She's on the run from Roehl still and knows she can't stay in one location for too long but she needs to know more about her powers.

I absolutely adored Sabine and Markus in this story, Markus of course is his usual grumpy self, but I wouldn't have him any other way. Plus, we got introduced to some new characters on the way who I thoroughly enjoyed, keep an eye out for Spot, that's all I'm saying.

The cliffhanger ending almost broke me, and it's left me slightly nervous to see what is going to happen to Calla and those around her in book three. Now I just need to try and be patient while I wait for it to come out.

As much as I loved the first book in this series, Of the Blood, Cameo Renae blew me out of the water with this book! Pun intended. You'll love the characters you fell for in the first book even more, and meet new characters that you wish were your best friends. And the romance? Swoon. You can see her growth as a writer and the plot will have you constantly turning the page, demanding to know where the next twists will take you. I will definitely be purchasing this series for my collection.

I need more Calla and Trystan! Their chemistry is off the charts. But, theses only a few scenes with them together. Interesting quick read. I definitely want more to it.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC

Wow, well I think I loved this world, the characters, the plotline, everything surprised me in the best way. Lots of drama and action you can't put it down. Trysten and Kai will have you, heart, Calla is an amazingly strong character, she grows so much during the story, I just need the next books. The magic element was fantastic, the world-building is superb, the pacing was done with a very well balanced. All the mystery of the secrets engulf me to keep on reading. I want them in audio.

Full disclosure. I haven't read many vampire books. I'm not sure why, I just never reach for them. But I'm so glad I found this series. I'm not sure where I expected this series to go when I started but there was an adventure, friendship, and heartbreak with every turn of the page.
Of The Blood grabbed me from the very beginning and I devoured it in less than 24 hours. Of Fire and Water was no different. I also gobbled it up in less than a day, staying up way past my bedtime because I just couldn't put it down.
The world-building and character development are definitely taken to a new level. We really get to know Calla more and see her grow into the queen we know she is destined to become. We also get to see the kingdom of Incendia and Aquaria and learn about their people and their magic.
I love the friendships and support surrounding Calla. All of the friends we meet in this series are wonderful and multidimensional.
And can we talk about the fireworks with Trystan?!? Oh, Tristian how I drool for you! That is my only complaint about this series. I wish there was (ALOT) more development between Calla and Trystan. We literally get to see him 4 times in BOTH books. They both feel connected to each other. They have amazing chemistry. I'm 10000000% rooting for them to claim each other but what exactly do they know about each other? I wish he didn't have to leave every time he shows up. Luckily it looks like we might get a lot more together time in the next book. While I'm talking book 3. I NEEDDDDDDD!!!! I'm so glad it looks like I'll only have to wait a few months. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Thanks, NetGalley and Cameo Remae for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am loving this new world and series. Book 2 continues with Calla and her friends set out on thier journey to Incendia for answers. Calla is like a paranormal "Dorothy" as she befriends most everyone and gathers loyal friends along her journey. We get to meet Thalia, a family member who vows to fight along side of Calla. She has a bevy of men that are enchanted with her and a special connection with both Trystan and Kai, and of course Markus, but one truly holds her heart. The worlds as so detailed that it is easy to imagine being right with the characters. Through this journey you feel the high points and the depths of despair at the lowest points.

As Calla learns more about her gifts and gains more confidence wielding them, she is doing all she can to keep her friends safe, but will all her efforts be for naught? Calla is determined to end the threat coming for her, before any more of her friends get hurt. Once this series is wrapped up, I can't wait to settle in and do a full read through again.

The audacity of the author to end this on a cliffhanger! But honestly, that ending was...not okay.

Let me start off by saying I did find the first one-third of this book rushed and a bit obvious, perhaps, even dull.

However, it all took a turn for the better once our favorite vampire prince made his return. I think the issue with this book is I’m more invested in the relationships than I am in the plot. The friendship scenes, the romance scenes, I enjoyed.

Anything to do with Incendian Queen and Roehl? Meh...

In terms of writing style, I wouldn’t say this book is anything special. It’s pretty standard, which makes it easy to read but also has me feeling like it might be a bit too basic? I don’t know how to describe it but it’s almost like the mood hasn’t been probably set. Also, I’ve been spoiled lately by writers who write delicious smut so I was bummed we didn’t get more steam from our main leads.

All in all though, after making it past the first third, I flew through this and I’m hooked enough that I will definitely check out the next installment because that cliffhanger cannot be allowed to stand.

Holy crap what a cliffhanger!! Calla and her friends take you on an even wilder ride than Book 1. Filled with action, hope, and passion, you will definitely be wanting more! Calla is destined for so much more than she could ever believe until now. One way or another she will survive! Who can she trust and where will she go on this journey set before her?
I’ve fallen in love with all of these new characters! I can not wait to see where this new path of adventure takes Calla and her friends!

Second book of this series and I was really looking forward to read this.

Although there isn't as much action as there was in the first book, there is lots of information I feel like you have to know. I really loved seeing Calla grow op more, become more mature. Also loved to see the friendships blossom between her and the other characters.

I loved how this book was written en it's such an easy read! Could definitely recommend reading this series... But hold op, THIS CLIFFHANGER! You can't do this to us. You just simply can't. ;-)

Also I loved this quote in the book:
What is the world without hopes and dreams, Sea Star

Of Fire and Water is the second book in this series. Calla has really grown since we first met her. She is now a strong and courageous woman and is learning more about her magic and how to use it. I love her friendship with Sabine and was glad to see some more familiar faces in this book.
This was a great read and can’t wait to read what happens next!

Of Fire and Water is the second book of the Heir of Blood and Fire Series. The first book is entitled Of the Blood. I stumbled upon this beauty on NetGalley when I was looking for a book to read. When I first saw it, I was intrigued by the cover page and the title so I said to myself “why not?” and it doesn’t disappoint at all. Reading the first chapter, I was already immersed in the story that I couldn’t stop reading it so I stayed up until 2 am to finish the story. It makes you want to read more and more because every part of the story is exciting and gives you the thrill of wanting to find out what’s gonna happen next.

The main character, Calla is brave and sympathetic towards her loved ones and the people around her. It’s understandable that she would be scared about certain things at first but with the desire of keeping her friends and family safe, she bravely faced it. She endured a lot of pain and struggles and that’s what makes her stronger. I also really looked forward to the interactions between Calla and her friends because they are adorable and funny. I love how they care for each other and how protective they are when they feel something strange about an event or a person. The love they have for each other is literally one of the best things in the book. The love, freedom, friendship, family, mystery, honor, and everything is doubtless to look forward to in this book. And also the men here in Of Fire and Water are like the fire that would give you heat in your body and burn you with their hotness because they are gorgeous and would leave you in awe. I absolutely love them all! *chef’s kiss*

Here are some of my favorites quotes/lines in the book:

“An unexplainable love that will hold on to you even after you’ve let go.”
“I would fight for him because I loved him. I would fight for him because he had fought for me from the beginning. And I would fight for him, even if it meant giving up my life.”
“I was going to rain down hell and fire.”

Other than the powers and all, the relationships between the characters are realistic and they are portrayed beautifully, so I praise the Author Cameo Renae for the job well done. Even though the story left me on a crazy cliffhanger, I would still highly recommend this book to readers who love fantasy to read this series. Let me know if you guys finished this book so we could talk about it! Also, I couldn’t wait for the next book to come and I would definitely read it right away!

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Of Fire and Water is a YA fantasy/paranormal, and book two in the Heir of Blood and Fire series.

Picking up right where Of The Blood leaves off, and right from page one this book is go go go. The adventure is constant and it doesn't deter from the story. You get answers along the way as well as new questions. There is a love plot but it isn't the main feature of this book. Of Fire and Water is centered more on self discovery and friendships.

Calla is put through the ringer once again, back stabbing  lies, secrets and heartache, she doesn't seem to get a break. But she has an amazing group of people surrounding her, encouraging and protecting her.

Cameo left us with a big Ole Cliffhanger, and while throwing kindles are frowned upon, the last 20% or so will test your resolve. Just know, the next book is coming!!!!

I loved this book! The first one was already one of my favourite fantasy reads, and the sequel even topped it. I loved the new characters we met and that we spent more time with some of our beloved ones from the previous book. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in a few hours. I hope the next one will be out asap, the cliffhanger was so mean!
Thank you so much NetGalley for the ARC!

My mind was just completely blown!! I am not sure I can pick up all the pieces of my heart after being shattered and shocked from the unrelenting wicked twists and turns throughout this flawless masterpiece!! I will never be the same or look at the world the same ever again. Of Fire and Water is a scintillating work of art that will transform any heart into one that is more aware, hopeful, and loving of those around them.

Calla has set out on a journey to discover who she really is. What she finds will never leave her the same again. Her decision to embrace her destiny is one that will never allow her go back to when life was simpler and safe. When circumstances reveal deceptions from those who should be welcoming and understanding, Calla must determine who her true allies are keep them close. Will jealousy and vengeance bring a swift end to her life, or can Calla manage to survive long enough to learn that that there is more to her life then just running and hiding?

Oh how I loved seeing Trystan continue to pursue Calla. His steady and passionate devotion to her makes me swoon into a puddle of happiness. I love that he can open her up like no one else and show her the beauty and hope of life beyond the fear that she lives with. I also enjoyed getting to know Marcus and Sabine better. They were never more devoted friends and guardians of our remarkable heroine then these two.

What can I say about this second book in this stunning series except that it has decimated my world and left me raw and ruined for any other young adult author. Cameo Renae is truly a goddess among authors. Her monumental creativity and stunning heart never fail to touch me on such a deep level. It doesn't matter what she writes about, I always walk away changed for the better. She is a rock in my life that I know will help to keep me grounded and always looking for hope and light around me.

This story is perfect for readers looking for a series that will take them on a journey and adventure of a lifetime. For me, every story this author writes makes me feel as if I'm watching everything play out in front of my very eyes. I devoured this book and I absolutely loved it as much as I did the first book. I loved Calla! I enjoyed watching her character grow and learn to control her gifts. The chemistry between Calla and Tristan is undeniable, they always leave me wanting more. This story is full of wonderful characters that you will love and friendships that will have leave you smiling. I don't want to give anything away but I wasn't ready for this story to end with that cliffhanger. However, I expect nothing less because Cameo never disappoints. I cannot wait to read the next book.

Of Fire and Water, the second book in the Heir of Blood and Fire series picks up where Of the Blood left off. Calla attempts to go to Incendia to learn more about her powers while fleeing from the evil Roehl. As she prepares for the eventual confrontation with Roehl, the prince who held her captive, Calla finds friends and allies who help her in her quest. Can Calla master her powers and defeat the forces that threaten her and those she loves?

I enjoyed this strong addition to the series which focuses on Calla’s growth as she traverses new lands and learns more about the people and herself. The characters are fantastic, and the world-building is immense and vivid. Renae created an immersive world filled with unique settings, people, creatures, and customs. Calla has so much to experience and learn, and it’s fascinating to see these new worlds from her perspective. Underwater worlds, mythical lands, unusual creatures, and inexplicable powers create such a captivating story.

Haunted by her imprisonment in Morbeth and fears Roehl’s vengeance, Calla determines to learn to use and control her powers to help protect herself and her friends. I loved Calla’s growth throughout the story and how she slowly begins to find answers to the questions that plague her. Also, even though Calla fears Roehl and still struggles to cope with what happened to her, she refuses to back down and gains much more confidence in herself. She begins to realize that she has the ability to affect change, and she feels empowered to rights some of the wrongs that have happened to herself and those she loves. I can’t wait to see how Calla continues to hone her skills and fight against those who threaten her. .

There’s a big focus on friendship and building relationships throughout the story, and I love that Calla has found people she can trust and depend on. As Calla doesn’t have her best friend or her family to lean on, her found family becomes very important to her and pivotal in her success. As she grows nearer to fulfilling the prophecy, I have a feeling her friends will become more important than ever.

As I said in my review for Of the Blood, there are several possible love interests in Calla’s life, but in this story, it becomes pretty clear who she favors. And she sure made the right choice!! The chemistry between Calla and her main love interest is fantastic, and though they aren’t together through much of the book, his presence is a constant. Other potential romances in the story also intrigue me, especially one between two of Calla’s friends, and I’m curious to see if that relationship will develop further in future books.

Of Fire and Water is not a standalone, so I recommend reading Of the Blood, the first book in the series, before reading this one. It is a great series for readers who enjoy young adult dark paranormal romance with vivid world-building and unique characters. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Cameo Renae, and The Next Step PR for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
