These are all really action packed and are quick reads, but they are really getting repetitive. I feel like I’ve read the same story over and over again. And I’m getting really tired of the Ben and Erika love hate relationship. She is becoming really obnoxious. The most unbelievable part was close to the end when they have 45 minutes to get on a plane back to the boat before it explodes. It took longer to read them back to the boat than they actually had! It should have blown up almost before they left the runway. I love the other author’s other series, but it may be time to end this one! The best part of this whole book was Alexander’s seasickness!

I love this series. It just keeps getting better. The best spy series since the Alex Rider but slightly for a younger audience as Alex is more of a YA and this is firmly MG.

Thanks to NetGalley, I had the opportunity to read and review this phenomenal new middle grade spy novel from Stuart Gibbs. If you are a fan of the series, one of the best parts of this particular book is the reappearance of characters from previous books combined with unexpected new characters. The cruise ship setting leads to humorous and thrilling action sequences throughout the book. Almost every chapter ends with a cliff hanger and makes it hard to stop reading. I read this aloud with my 10-year-old who begged for more every night. It's also particularly cleverly written and humorous. We stopped reading to laugh out loud numerous times. The plot has interesting and engaging twists that leave you wondering what comes next. If you have never read any of the spy school books, I would recommend starting at the beginning of the series, but if you choose to read this book alone, it is still just as entertaining. Avast ye mateys - go read Spy School at Sea!

With thanks to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for an early copy in return for an honest review.

Another fun addition to the Spy School series! It's always fun catching up with the characters and there are several action sequences in the book that will keep kids turning the page. Some family + friendship + romance + nuclear detonators + cruise buffets makes for an enjoyable story.

My daughter begged me to give her the opportunity to review the Spy School at Sea via NetGalley. She has been a huge fan and is always looking forward to reading the new book. Below is my 12 year old’s review of what she thought about the book in her own words:

"Spy School at Sea is another great addition to the Spy School series. It embarks an amazing journey with friends, family and romance which makes it even better than the last books. Reading this book makes you learn a lot of things as it is as intellectual as it is funny. Spy School at Sea is a great book you won’t regret reading."

My daughter is very thankful that she was able to review this ARC from NetGalley. She can’t wait to talk to her friends about this book at school.

Another wonderful book from the Spy School series. It was great to see these characters again and catch up with their antics. Anyone who has read the series would enjoy this one. I do not think it would do as well as a standalone.

The best on in the series! Full of action and adventure. Another winner from Stuart Gibbs and his Spy School series.

Spy School at Sea was written by Stuart Gibbs, and is book nine in the Spy School series. I would not recommend starting with this book as it is not a stand alone novel, but HIGHLY recommend this series as a whole. It is a family favorite!

Summary: Ben Ripley and the team are back in action-spurred on by a tip that just might lead them to capture Ben’s nemesis Murray Hill.

When they find Murray is scheduled to travel on the world’s largest cruise ship Emperor of the Seas, Ben, Erica, Alexander, Catherine, and Mike pose as a vacationing family-determined to discover Murray’s latest scheme, and capture him in the process. After all, it should be easy. They are all trapped on a cruise ship crossing the ocean. It SHOULD be a piece of cake.

But nothing is as it seems on this “vacation.” The ship is much bigger than expected, with lots of places to hide. And while searching for Murray they find more than a few familiar faces-some more welcome than others. With danger lurking around every corner, will Ben soon find himself lost at sea?

My Thoughts: I have literally been stalking Netgalley waiting for this book to come out, and was so glad to get the chance to review it! The Spy School series is a serious favorite around here-with the kids AND the grown-ups!

I loved this book. I was very happy to see the storyline veer back to the villains from the first seven books as the eighth book had different villains and it wasn’t quite the same.

I read this book aloud to my kids, and paused often to say, “And now who do you think they will run into?” It was so much fun, and it was like we were greeting old friends (even though they were the bad guys.)

There is tons of action, adventure, and comedy in this book, and it is completely entertaining. We loved it, and the ending definitely gave room for a whole new set of adventures to come.

I cannot recommend this series highly enough. We own the entire series on Audible, and my kids have listened to the stories countless times (literally, COUNTLESS.)

These books would make a fantastic gift as well (I just gave some to my nephew), and this latest book in the series is definitely one of my favorites, although I will admit it’s hard to choose.

I want to thank Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you for not making me wait until the book was released to read it.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy.

After saving the world, AGAIN, you would think Ben Ripley would finally get a vacation. But the rapscallion Murray Hill is at it again, this time on the Emperor of the Sea-the world's largest cruise ship.

As per the usual, this book is well written to be enjoyed by all ages! I finished it in less than two hours. It's got amusing quirks for kids and adults. The series has definitely gotten darker the further into the series we get-we go from talking about death in theory (bomb threats and nuclear destruction) to more hands on near-death experiences. It fits the growth of the series though.

The character development through the series is quite spectacular, especially with Erica. I love this series, and the next book is sure to be a thriller. I can't wait for it to come out! I will continue to recommend Spy School out to kids and adventure loving readers.

I love this series and I think this book is the best one yet. It's so suspenseful and full of twists and turns that it was hard to put it down long enough to do the day to day living things. It's also hysterical. And if that's not enough, the very end promises even more adventures with enough menace involved that it's going to be even harder to wait for the next book in the series than usual.
