I loved the fun writing and illustrations that accompanied this book of dinosaur facts. It's a definite crowd pleaser for the kids, and most adults will learn some cool things, as well. Recommended!

The Dinosaur Awards by Barbara Taylor is a fun book packed with dinosaur information. My dinosaur loving son was enchanted with this book. I think what we loved most about this book is its unique presentation. So many dinosaur books seem similar. This book with its award format is so fun and engaging. I think children will love it, even the dinosaur experts. It is best suited for lower elementary age children. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher. These opinions are entirely my own.

The Dinosaur Awards by Barbara Taylor will delight any dinosaur fan! My daughter loves the layout of this book and learning new facts about some old favorite dinosaurs and some she hadn't heard of! The illustrations are beautiful and the text and layout of the book is just FUN!

As a dinosaur lover, I went into this book with high hopes, and it delivered! This book will teach kids about both well-known and less famous dinosaurs. I loved the art, and I think the book has a great layout. I particularly like the different hierarchies of text–older kids can read all the extra facts, but younger kids will definitely be able to enjoy the smaller blurbs of large text, as well as the great illustrations. I will definitely be recommending this book to library patrons and buying it as gifts for friends' children.

I'm well in my mid-twenties but I'm also obsessed with dinosaurs. Any time I have to buy a present for a kid, my first thought is always something dino-themed...and this would be the perfect book for that! Allotting awards is such a fun way to introduce young readers to pre-historic reptiles. The illustrations are eye-catching and the facts do not come across as jam-packed at all. This book is sure to keep young explorers mesmerised for weeks as they read up on all their favourite dinosaurs and discover all kinds of ridiculous yet amazing things about the creatures from our planet's past.

This is a great book for those interested in dinosaurs. We know a LOT of dinos and still discovered some new ones through this book and learned a bunch of new facts as well.
I like how the book was laid out and the illustrations were good as well.

A fun, fact-filled romp through the history of varying dinosaurs across the different eras. Each dinosaur is introduced with basic facts and pronunciation of its name. There is a short bit of text that narrates other interesting facts about the dinosaur. The bottom of the page has a funny comic strip, and the opposing page shows a large-scale picture of the dinosaur with fact bubbles.

The mixture of graphics and text makes this an ideal read for reluctant readers. The author is careful to note what is known and not yet known definitively about the dinosaur. This allows a reader to see that science is an ever-changing field like the rest of the world.

Ideal for 4th-6th grade, but the interest level will fit with younger readers as well—a book that would fill well in school and public library collections.

What a fun way to learn about dinosaurs! Kids are always intrigued about dinosaurs, and they gobble up information readily when it comes to these extinct creatures. This book (and its playful, lively illustrations) is such a great nonfiction for that purpose! It not only provides the basics about different species of dinosaurs in ways that are easy to understand, but also some fun puns, cheeky comic strips, and of course- super creative "awards" that make the different species unique!
I would definitely get a copy for my classroom, for my dino-loving kiddos :)

Each time I spy a new Dinosaur book I squee in delight and try to get it. Well, OK, these days I am a bit more hesitant than I was years ago. These days many dinosaur books have chickens. I am sorry, but I am just sad that all my awesome dinosaurs get turned into freaking chickens. I get that these days research points to them being related to birds, but give me just the research of when I was a kid. Reptiles. Big strong lizards. Go. Maybe a few feathery dudes, but most were just scales. But I just couldn't resist the book despite not knowing if this would be a chicken-dino or more a reptile-dino book. It just sounded to hilarious and I was curious about the awards.

Sadly, this one was a lot about the feathers... mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :( I still read on because I do love reading about dinosaurs. 

I loved the portraits at the beginning, it reminded me of the Employer of the Month/Week walls I see in American tv-shows! 

The names of the awards were so great and also made me giggle/laugh in delight! Unicorn award, The Never-ending Neck award, The Humongous Horn award, and many more! I loved how well they fitted with the dinosaur that won the award. 

I also love the way the book was formatted. We have some group awards, but mostly individual awards done in a very fun way. With a portrait on one side and a full picture of our critter in action (or just wandering around munching leaves, :P ). Next to that we also get some extra bits here there, sometimes there is a hilarious comic which I really loved, other times just some information on some tidbits of the dinosaur. Despite just having 2 pages, and one page mostly illustration, you learn a lot of things about the specific dinosaur. Most I already knew as I have been reading books (and seeing documentaries) for years now about dinosaurs, but there is always some new information as there is still plenty to find out about dinosaurs (but please, no more feathers, argh). I also really liked the writing style in this book. Humorous, playful, and fun. 

The illustrations were fantastically done, I really like the style and I am going to be checking to see what else the illustrator has done. 

All in all, despite the freaking feathers, I still enjoyed reading the book!

My boys loved this book. The illustrations were adorable. The awards and facts were entertaining. We all really loved learning about some of the lesser-known dinosaurs.

A fantastic children's encyclopedia of dinosaurs, packed with engaging facts and lots of fun illustrations. My 4 year old loves dinosaurs and was absolutely enthralled, even discovering some he hadn't seen before.

This book was right up my 6 yr old's alley. She has been into dinosaurs since she was young, and so she enjoyed seeing which dinosaurs got what awards. She was especially interested in the illustrations, particularly the awards and what shapes they were. The colours and illustration style were vibrant and eye catching and that made the book really enjoyable to read.

I think that this book is well worth all the effort put into it! The explanations and information is well researched and condensed to a manageable level for many student levels as well as parents who never knew these things. The format is interesting and there is no time for boredom (but maybe sparks of enough interest to see out more). The illustrations make no pretense of erudition by are laid back and make learning fun! Another great book to send to the grandkids!

Come here for a very cartoonish guide to dinosaurs, but also a format that really works as a database for the young. In giving lots of noted (and some much lesser-known) critters awards, we get a set of three or four introductory paragraphs for every one, a great if stylised illustration peppered with factoids, a databank (of the usual – where we find it, how we say the name, what that name means, when it came from, size etc), and all told a fine approach to get the superlatives of prehistoric life across. I did prefer the entries that had bonus trivia to the ones that had a cartoon joke to finish the page with, but all told there is little to fault here. I normally might not love a book for concentrating on the superlatives – and one that ignores the one-page lesson needed in evolution to explain how they came about – but I'd much rather have this than the cheesy hack 'n' slash non-stop action other books pretend life then would have been. A strong four stars.
