I thought this was more for the patient, but it's for the practitioner. Not bad, but I'm not a full practitioner.

Good book with interesting concepts about more mainstream use of energy healing and reiki. However, I got this book thinking it would be like a sidekick for the patient going into the world of conventional medicine and surgery, but found out it is way more geared towards reiki practitioners wading into the medical and surgical world. Not much 'help' per se for the patient as it is not aimed at them and thus from their Point of view

Love the Concept, Not the Branding

As a Reiki Master for 30 years and a registered nurse for 5, I was instantly fascinated by this book when I saw it at a favorite book review site. Unfortunately, I find myself somewhat disappointed by it. I had hoped it would be a practical, hands-on guidebook helping the Reiki practitioner, whether personally or professionally, with an approach to helping themselves or others with their medical ailments and issues. Reiki has a long history of being used medically, including the clinics run by Mikao Usui himself and those he attuned to Reiki energy. Instead, this book feels like a long advertisement for the author’s trademarked brand of medical Reiki. Trademarking a flavor of Reiki just rubs me the wrong way. Reiki is universal energy and belongs to us all. As I said, medical Reiki has been practiced since Reiki began; it does not belong solely to the author. The idea that he/she originated it is preposterous. I found the information in the book to be interesting in and of itself. I liked how the author described Reiki for those who don't know about it, and I appreciated how he/she had sections for potential patients, physicians who might use a Reiki practitioner in their office, and for the Reiki practitioners themselves. For those who've never considered Reiki as something that can be applied in a medical setting or as a complementary part of medical treatment, this book provides information about that. But the branding and trademarking all over the book make it seem like an extended ad for the author’s take on medical Reiki. That deeply bothered me as a longtime Reiki practitioner.

I am level 1 Reiki practioner and knew that I had to read this! Since being certified I have absorbed as much knowledge as possible about the subject.
What I really liked about this book was that even if you are not a Reiki practitioner, you will easily be able to read and comprehend the information. The organization of the book is wonderful! There is no way you can feel lost or confused because the way it is laid out, it makes seamless transtions between subject areas.
My favorite thing about this resource book in tthe end though was the vast amount of resources it had!! I am so exited to dive deeper into some of these to further my research.
I manage our family medaphysical store and our Reiki Master used to work as a MamoTech. The hospital she was employed at would allow her to do Reiki on patients for special events etc. I love seeing the sccientific community open up to something so incredible.
I really wish these meditations were recorded but I can record myself reading them and then play them back just as easily.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to read this incredible book!

I was floored to have the chance to read an ARC of this book. Thank you so much NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for the opportunity to read this. I am forever grateful!

Last year I received both my level 1 and level 2 Reiki certifications and I've been devouring information about Reiki ever since. Within just the forward and introduction, Reiki was explained so well for anyone who is not very familiar with it. I immediately looked up Raven's social media so that I could see what she's talking about and currently working on since her words resonated with me in such a beautiful way. Throughout the book she does a great job of explaining how Reiki is used in medical settings, in operating rooms specifically, and shares stories about how it has positively impacted patients that she has worked with.

The things I loved about this book-
- Super digestible information, even for anyone who doesn't have a background in Reiki.
- The book is organized well and has a great flow.
- It is very clear, as the author outright states this, who this book is for and how it can be used.
- There are so many resources in it! From forms, to how to have a conversation with your doctor, to information about how to get certified in Medical Reiki yourself, that I bookmarked a million things.

One thing that I think is missing -
- The meditations in the book are amazing, but because they are written, in order to really do them for yourself you will need to record yourself reading them and then play them back. Or have someone else do it for you. That is the only unfortunate part as some of the meditations are very long and detailed. I wish that this came with an accompanied link where Raven or someone else had recorded them so that you could listen and immerse yourself. Maybe there will be something shared when the release date occurs. I'll be keeping my eye out!

If you are a Reiki practitioner just looking to further your knowledge or maybe branch out of your standard practice, this book certainly opens your eyes to some new information. If you're not a practitioner but think that having Reiki performed during a medical procedure would be helpful, this book gives you everything you need to start, and hopefully be successful, in that conversation.
