I loved this novel because of all the crossed-wires and the romance that grows from within them. Both main characters are hiding themselves from each other for the same reason. You wonder what will happen when the truth is revealed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a quiet, low stakes Christmas story that takes place at The Plaza Hotel in NYC. The story flips back and forth between present day and the late 50s/early 60s but quite frankly, if it wasn’t for the scattered present pop culture references, I wouldn’t have known in what decade this book took place. The couples all had zero chemistry and I had really little interest in if they hooked up or not. I also never read Eloise so the whole Eloise side plot was not interesting. Overall, it is fine and I think my mom would have liked it, but nothing I’d recommend for an exciting, fun Christmas Story.

My second read by this author, and I loved it! A fun Christmas story. It really brings you into the Christmas spirit (even though I read it in spring) and makes you excited for the season! I loved the characters and the story line.

What a fun Christmas story. For those who love the magic of Christmas, it is even more magical when you spend it at the luxurious Plaza Hotel. When Sabrina lands a job as a ghostwriter for the wealthy Grayson, she is treated to a luxurious suite. Determined to do a good job writing Grayson’s memoir, she has free time to explore the hotel. She stumbles on the British Ian in the lobby and a magical week follows

Sabrina thinks Ian is the wealthy Lord Braxton, and Ian thinks Sabrina is a wealthy woman who can afford to stay at the Plaza. Their secret identities almost end the relationships. Each one wants to reveal their secret, but is afraid to lose the other’s trust.

The book is filled with descriptions of Christmas magic, fabulous jewels, delicious food and special hotel luxuries. The reader can just picture the sights and sounds of Christmas in New York. This book also contains the possibilities of second chances for love.

Thank you to the author for an ARC of this fun Christmas story. This review is my honest opinion.

This was not the typical read for me and it was EXACTLY what I needed! The location of the Plaza Hotel during Christmas was descriptive, magical, and made me want to immediately book a flight to NYC. Sabrina meets Ian and they begin to fall in love and he seems perfect...and you know the perfect person doesn’t exist, and Sabrina’s logical side knows, but it’s just so good and but by bit we begin to learn that he isn’t exactly who he’s portrayed himself to be. Meanwhile, we are also getting Grayson’s story about his lost love and the reader has to figure out what one has to do with another. I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is a book I will definitely recommend. It is fast, interesting, and vivid. I enjoyed it very much.

I don't often use the word delightful, but this book is delightful. New York at Christmas, specifically the Plaza Hotel, is a lovely backdrop for this story. The book covers a present day romance, as well as a romance many years earlier as told by an art expert who was a former butler at the Plaza who doted on Kay Thompson of the Eloise novels. There was the requisite misunderstanding between the two main characters in the current romantic storyline that may have dragged on a little bit, but I overall enjoyed this novel and the twist at the end was a fun surprise for me. I definitely recommend this novel! Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this heart warming novel.!

I received this book as an advanced reader copy from the NetGalley. This is the perfect holiday book, romance and wanderlust with an amazing setting. The Plaza hotel is a character in itself. Sabrina and Ian meet there while pretending they come from different backgrounds than they actually do. This quick read is the perfect book to curl up with when you’re in need of a feel good holiday romance.

I discovered Anita Hughes in 2019 with her enchanting novel Christmas in Vermont . And basically, I could almost rewrite the same enthusiastic review because she did it again. It’s a heartwarming, truly feel-good romantic novel. I could hardly put it down and finished it in just a few days. A page turner!

This new piece « A Magical New York Christmas » has it all: the dazzling decor (NYC, Plaza hotel), the multiple pop culture references, the royalty touch for your fairytale fantasies. And most of all, the story alternates between two timelines (double the romances!). I also enjoyed learning about the children’s books Eloise. As a non-American, it was a lovely discovery.

On top of that the characters are relatable and cute. And as an added bonus, it’s not about bagging a duke, but falling for « the help », a nice change of pace considering the current trend in the chick-lit genre. I would simply find fault with one tiny detail: sometimes the conversations between Spencer and Ian didn’t always sound as British as they should. Why would they use terms like « appartment » instead of « flat » when it’s just the two of them in the room?

Aside from that, it’s a really top-notch book for a delightful moment of escapism.

New York City at Christmas time in the Plaza?! Try to think of a better setting!! I was sucked in from the beginning. It follows two people staying at the Plaza: Sabrina’s present story as a ghostwriter who meets Ian and a case of mistaken identity threatens to ruin their chance meeting and Grayson’s past story of the one that got away.. I can’t decide who I was rooting for more, I just adored both stories so so much! I was officially ready for summer before I started this book and now I am officially ready for the Christmas season! Oh, and the infamous Eloise from the Plaza Hotel is in the story as well and as.a Plaza fan I am an Eloise fan by proxy so this story just hit every point for me! I LOVED it!!!

I had a really hard time with the characters. It wasn’t really a confusing story but I just didn’t “click” with the characters and want to continue reading. I did finish the book and it was a sweet story, but just not one that had me turning the pages quickly. Cute idea, just not my style.

Sabrina stays at the Plaza in NYC to ghostwriter a book. There she meets Ian, a member of Britsh aristocracy. But can this girl of common beginnings find love with him?

I loved the story told by Grayson of Kay Thompson and Eloise. So much fact in this fiction. The Plaza sounds so unbelievable! I can't imagine living like this. I liked that we learn what happens to Veronica.

Here is where everything falls for me. Sabrina and Ian never Google each other. They sit at their laptops and never search out pictures or info? Both act like they are poor, yet she has a place in New York with no roommates and he acts like he isn't paid well. Spencer is just annoying.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing mevto read this book. Sabrina who is a writer arrives at the plaza hotel to write a book about Grayson. While staying at the hotel during the holidays she meets Ian who is from England. I enjoyed the chemistry between Sabrina and Ian. This book was well written.

I would just like to start out by saying I haven't been able to finish a book in about a year and a half since my brother died. I am so happy this was my first book back. It flows so beautifully. I finished it in a day and a half. This book makes me excited for Christmas, honestly. It makes you believe the is Magic in the world. But also shows you (well at least me) that if you love something you absolutely fight for it. You never want to miss your chance at what could make you happiest in your life. I honestly kind of want to see what happens in the characters life as always. But also the way Anita ended this book I'm so satisfied I'll just read whatever she writes next. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good clean romance, is obsessed with Christmas or anyone who has read Eloise. One of the things I wanted to do after reading this book was buy and read Eloise not only for myself but also for my future child. It also really made me want to go back to New York but that will have to be a future thing. I cannot express how obsessed with this story I am without ruining some aspect. I will most likely read it again after the book is published.

So, so, so, sooooo good! I love a light and classic holiday romance. I felt like making hot cocoa while reading this one. It had everything I love about a holiday romance. The atmosphere and laughter...a small amount of drama and lots of cuteness! I highly recommend this for all holiday romance lovers!!!!

Thank you netgalley for the advance readers copy.

I am a huge sucker for holiday books! Romance Christmas reads especially get me! This was just a feel good, heart warming, hallmark Christmas read! I really enjoy Anita Hughes as I have read Monarch Beach and liked it a lot too! I can't wait to have everyone I know to read this in December! I will be buying a copy to reread in December myself!

The title says it all. Richard Paul Evans meets Hallmark. Sabrina takes a ghostwriting position for Grayson Westcott, that lands her staying at the Plaza hotel during the holidays. Sparks fly when she meets Ian, who isn't all he seems to be. Will his secret threaten their budding romance?

Sabrina and Ian's story unfolds simultaneously as we learn about Grayson and his lost love. What does Grayson have to teach Sabrina about love?

A Magical New York Christmas by Anita Hughes is an excellent feel-good, heartwarming, and perfect Christmas romance that I truly enjoyed.

This book takes place at the Plaza Hotel in NYC. I loved the author’s descriptions of the gorgeous and famous lodgings. I really felt at times as if I was one of the many lucky guests to stay within its walls.

I also loved the central romance (and the full cast of characters really rounded it all out quite nicely). Sabrina and Ian both cross paths while staying at the hotel for different reasons. Both have mysteries, but both are genuine and likable people. They make a great pair, romance ensues, and the chemistry is evident. I really enjoyed the mystery component and the story unfolds into a perfect ending.

This book has heart, warmth, authenticity, romance, and I really feel as if I can smell the cinnamon, pine, and gingerbread of Christmas after reading this wonderful holiday novel.

I truly loved it. 5/5 stars

Thank you NG and St Martin’s Press for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication in 9/28/21.
