I was a huge fan of Camilla Lackberg's The Golden Cage, so I was thrilled to see she had a follow up to the original. Silver Tears is an elegant but dark story of revenge. Faye is a character that will stay with you and her actions are mesmerizing. I didn't love Silver Tears as much as The Golden Cage, but I did enjoy it. Bring on book #3 in Faye's Revenge series. Thank you to Knopf and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This series rocks! It’s filled with lust, power-grabbing, back-stabbing betrayal and revenge. The entire series is fabulous. Faye is a string powerful woman who sometimes shows her soft side, but still gets what she wants. Must read!

Ahhhhh, I don't know what took me so long to read this. I absolutely LOVED The Golden Cage and may or may not have squealed when I got a copy of Silver Tears because even though I didn't think TGC needed a sequel, I was ready to see where life with Faye was going to take me. Wooooo buddy! She is NOT a woman I would want on my bad side, that's for sure!
I'll start by saying you absolutely must read The Golden Cage before reading SILVER TEARS. This way you get a full grasp on what happened with Faye before we got here... and lemme tell ya, she went through a LOT. But Silver Tears also brings us Faye's past as we go back and forth in timelines from when she was a kid in an abusive home to present day where she's a bad ass entrepreneur who will do WHATEVER it takes to protect herself and those she loves.

If I had a red flag on a stick on me, I would've been waving it rampantly with all the clues laid down. For being such a strong woman, she still has weaknesses and she ... well, no no no... not going to spoil anything here. This shorter second installment in the Faye's Revenge series may not be the whopper that TGC was, but honestly, following the first book was going to be hard to beat imo. What will book three bring us? Surely there will be one and I'm going to need to know what happens. Tell you what though, I sure did miss Chris in this story. 💔

If you loved The Golden Cage, you'll definitely need to pick this one up. And if haven't read either... well, get on it! The sex scenes are steamy, the loyalty is real and the kicks just keep on coming!

After reading The Golden Cage last year, I was very excited to see this sequel come out to finish the story of Faye. I would say you definitely need to read The Golden Cage before picking this one up! This story picks right up where the first one left off with Jack being sent to prison and follows Faye. I love how it gives us a glimpse of Faye as she is living her best life. She is happy, wealthy, and everything is going well until it seems like someone is coming after her company. Then she finds out her husband has escaped from prison and will do anything to protect what is hers. If you enjoyed the first book about Faye, pick this one up!! It is a great follow up!

4.5/5

I am now completely obsessed with the Faye's Revenge series, and The Golden Cage really blew me away. I am happy to say I loved Silver Tears almost just as much. I haven't read any of Camilla Läckberg's other novels yet, but I am telling myself I really need to get on that since I loved these two so much. This is a very lewd book at times, and I know one of the complaints I've seen is that it is very vulgar. There is a lot of sex in the book and there was a lot of it in the last book as well, but for some reason, it hasn't bothered me. It didn't take away from my love of the story and I am fully behind the amazing revenge plot of this book. Faye is one of the strongest, most badass female characters that I have had the pleasure to read, and she is not afraid to take what she wants. I love that she is such a smart character, although I was a little disappointed in her in this book. She was driving me crazy and I just wanted to shake her, but luckily, she smartens up and goes back to the person I know and love.

We learn a lot more about Faye's past in this one and it is DARK people. It was truly heartbreaking and very hard to read at times. Läckberg's writing is very straight and to the point, and she definitely doesn't skimp on the details. This could be triggering to some thanks to rape taking a front seat to the past plotline, and if that is a trigger for you then you might want to stay away. I listened to the audiobook for the first book and did it again for Silver Tears, but I liked this one on audio a bit less. They switched the narrator to Tanya Cubric from Ann Richardson, and while Cubric did a nice job, I really preferred Richardson's voice for Faye and can only hope they switch back to her for book 3. This does end on a cliffhanger which killed me, and I will be anxiously waiting for the next book!

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Loved it! It’s like a dark, steamier Finlay Donovan. I loved the strong female characters. While I did like the first book best, I am so hopeful with the way this ended that there will be a third. After reading both books back to book, I am going to miss these characters!,

This is the second book in the series, and I absolutely loved The Golden Cage, but this one fell a bit short of the first book and was a lot more vulgar for my liking, to the point that it was a little distracting from the story, but that is just my opinion. I loved that Faye takes no prisoners in this one while still remaining successful with her company Revenge, and that was the part of the plot that I absolutely enjoyed. That being said, this ended on a bit of a cliffhanger I wasn't expecting and am hoping there is a book 3 because I think she has just wee bit more revenge to be had. And I am here waiting for it because I realllyyy want her to succeed.

Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf for the digital copy to review.

I was introduced to Camilla Lackberg through a friend of mine. I really enjoy her writing. When I saw that she had a new book coming out, Silver Tears, I jumped at the chance to read it. Silver Tears is the sequel to The Golden Cage. While the Golden Cage was a pageturner and very exciting, I was a bit disappointed with Silver Tears. However, I will definitely continue to read Camilla Lackberg's future work.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early read on this thriller!

Faye Adelheim is the wealthy, ambitious CEO of the cosmetics company Revenge. She is on the verge of making a deal to move into the American market, she is moving into a beautiful new apartment, and has met an intriguing new man. Not all is perfect, as tragedy has followed her throughout her life –her mother was murdered by Faye’s abusive father, her ex-husband is in jail for murdering their daughter, and her best friend recently passed away after a long battle with cancer. But, Faye has a secret – a pretty big secret. Her mother and her daughter are not actually dead – they are hiding in a remote Italian village, which Faye pays for and visits as often as she can. For these three women, living well has been the best revenge against the men who have hurt them. But now, things are going wrong. Someone is silently buying up shares of Revenge, planning a hostile takeover; an inspector has begun asking Faye new questions about her daughter’s murder; and her ex-husband has managed to escape from jail. When everything she values the most is at risk, we are going to see just how strong the past has made Faye in the present.

I am not usually a fan of Scandinavian thrillers but I thought I would give this one a try because of the premise. It has the spare straightforward writing and it deals with the dark undercurrents of society (in this case domestic abuse), but instead of the brooding detective, we have Faye as the protagonist. After I finished, I discovered that this is the follow-up to The Golden Cage. The good news is that you don’t need to read the first one to enjoy this one. The other good news is that the story is not over, so we should expect more adventures with Faye in the future.

Wasn’t aware that Silver Tears was a follow up to the author’s The Golden Cage so since I hadn’t read the initial offering it was necessary to piece together what had happened in the previous book, which was not all that difficult.

I was, however, taken by surprise by the “right out the gate” explicit sex contained in the opening pages of this book. I have done quite a bit of business travel in my day but never have I met a couple in a bar and immediately jumped into bed with them for a “kinky three way”.

I do realize that Faye, the protagonist (read female heroine) was supposed to be a woman in control of all aspects of her life and was willing and able to take whatever actions were necessary to gain the upper hand in any given situation.

Unfortunately, most of the men in this tome seem to of the variety that underestimate not only Faye but women in general.

For Faye, Revenge seems to be a game she enjoys engaging in as well as the name of the corporation she runs and, believe me, she is a champion in both arenas.

Camilla Lacbergs ability to twist a preverse story, and keep you wanting more is uncanny. Dark humor, revenge, feminmity, and master story telling are the keywords I hope to always use when talking about this author.

A sequel to The Golden Cage, I was not disappointed. Faye is back and her power, and strength shines bright in this this novel. Hidden away with her daughter in Italy, Faye soon learns that her husband Jack is no longer behind bars, and has to return to Sweden. Faye must fight to protect everything she has worked so hard for, fought for, but soon she is about to find out that sometimes secrets can destory you.

The sex scenes are quite intense, and written well.

If you're into revenge thrillers, and well executed plots then pick this series up today!

This is the second book in the "Fay's Revenge" series. The first book is The Golden Cage and you should read it first to fully enjoy the the charcters and plot of this book. I loved this book ! Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. Camilla Lackberg weaves a fascinating story and amazing charcters you will love spending time with.

I love that this series is written with feminist standards, revenge and amazing strong woman. its a very satisfying combination . This book has some mystery and Faye once again surviving as she protects the life she so carefully rebuilt. Faye has found her power with her company and her rebuilt life.

its a pleasure to read about a strong woman not depending on a man and who built her own fortune.

Camilla Lackberg has me on the edge of my seat. This second installment was everything I was hoping it would be. Faye is an anti-heroine I hope in the end finds what she’s longing for. Silver Tears is full of lust, money, betrayal, revenge, and secrets. I can’t wait for more.

This is a great beach read. I highly recommend reading book one The Golden Cage first.

Another provocative revenge thriller by Camilla Lackberg. I really enjoyed this follow up to the Golden Cage, and seeing where these characters landed after that story - especially Faye.

Faye is a multi layered character, with secrets of her own and as hard as she tries to keep those demons hidden, sometimes darkness can never really be eradicated.  She was after all, a woman scorned and you really get to see how she takes back her life and the power she held before meeting Jack.  It's a story not only about revenge but of a woman's loyalty and empowerment and her reluctance to let a man destroy her and keep her down.

I really enjoyed the character development especially with Faye's character.  I found myself on a roller coaster of emotions about how I felt about her.  I liked her, disliked her, felt sorry for her and then found myself admiring her.

The story alternates between the past and present, building on the relationship between Faye and her family.  At first I was a bit ambivalent of the flashback chapters and wasn't quite sure whether they were necessary but actually they were quite important because it showed how their tumultuous relationship evolved and it also gives you a more in-depth sneak peek into Faye's character and the woman she is today.

This was another great revenge story and I highly recommend picking this one up!

The zany and at times cringey revenge saga of The Golden Cage continues here in Silver Tears.

Things are humming along for Faye at last as she revels in the success of Revenge and the success of her plot to free herself and her family from her nasty ex-husband Jack. With Jack in prison and business booming, what could go wrong?

The answer, of course, is pretty much everything. And that’s boys and girls, is how sequels are born.

This is mostly a fun read and has essentially the same pluses and minuses as its predecessor. On the positive side, it’s fun, satisfying, feminist leaning in some aspects, and compelling. On the less positive end of things, the ick factor is again super high (TW: rape, incest) and I could have done without the doofy pseudo porn threesome scenes. Yes, I said scenes, plural.

But the rest of it is fun, and Lackberg is a master at dishing out clever vigilante justice on behalf of her characters. I doubt I would like Faye very much if I met her, but there are definitely things about her to admire, and she’s a perfect character for the story, where men so often underestimate women at their peril.

I really like the Golden cage but I just wasnt as interested in silver tears. It was still good though, good writing, good translation. If I hadn't liked the golden cage so much then I might have liked silver tears more. That being said I didn't have any major complaint.

Another Gem from Camilla Lackberg

Silver Tears is another well-crafted suspense novel from a master storyteller. Faye seems to have her life in a good place. She has distanced herself from a bad marriage, built a successful business, and ensured her family’s financial and physical security. So she is caught completely off guard by a hostile takeover attempt of her company.

While this is an absorbing and enjoyable read, the twist elements are so obvious that their revelation does not have much impact. Also, this book could as easily be classified as erotica as suspense.

I had not read a novel by Camilla Lackberg in some time and I am glad to have rediscovered her.

I didn’t realize this was a follow up to The Golden Cage but I still loved it. I think this book is stronger if you read The Golden Cage first. The flashbacks explained how Faye became Faye was a neat touch to this story but they weren’t easy to read.

I didn't realize this book was in a series. This is a bond-type of story with a female protagonist. I had a hard time getting sucked into the story but if you're a huge thriller fan you will enjoy.

I did not realize this was a follow up to a previous book, which made it a bit difficult to read. That is my fault, though, and I was able to figure out where the plot was going anyway. This is a story about escape, revenge, and power - with a romantic element as well. However, the explicit scenes were way more than steamy and were more about sex than romance, so be aware if like me, that is not your preference. At times, I was cheering for the main character, who was wicked smart and had great instincts. Except when she wasn’t and didn’t. I couldn’t understand her naïveté and blindness when it came to one specific character. It just didn’t fit with the rest of her personality and the choices she had made for her life. If you enjoy all kinds of mysteries and thrillers, you will probably like this book, but it’s not for me. I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped, however, I appreciate the publisher and NetGalley providing the advanced copy for me to read.
