I honestly didn't finish the book. I thought that the books was a standalone when I requested it and was not aware that was a second book of a series. Regardless I started it and read some reviews from other readers to find out if the story was rounded enough and could be read as a standalone. The comments on this regard were mixed and, although I was enjoying the prose I couldn't get over the fact that part of the story was missing for me. I apologize to the publisher. Next time I request a book I will make sure is not a sequel. Thank you for the opportunity. I will definitely come back to it once I read The Golden Cage.

Faye finally has the life that she deserves. Despite having to fight tooth and nail for her current situation, Faye could not feel happier. She’s rich, the business she built has become a global brand, and she has carefully hidden away her small family in Italy, where Jack, her ex-husband, can no longer harm them. Things begin to take a sudden shift when several major investors suddenly start selling off their shares in the company and the police officer who helped search for her daughter discovers the dark secret of Faye’s childhood. As Faye’s world spirals, she receives an even bigger blow as she learns that Jack has escaped from prison. Faye must fight for her future while confronting her past.

SILVER TEARS is an intoxicating and clever follow-up to Läckberg’s THE GOLDEN CAGE. Faye is back in our lives and thriving in a life that she has worked hard to have. I loved being back with Faye and watching her fight for her business. There were times when I was annoyed with Faye because I felt like she let herself be blinded by certain parts of her life, which put her in danger of losing focus.

The pacing of SILVER TEARS felt like the perfect mixture of slow and tension. Everything is intricately plotted out to be revealed at the right moment. Läckberg smartly breaks up the current timeline with flashback chapters that add a great secondary plot to the overall story. I completely forgot Läckberg’s incorporation of some seriously steamy scenes in her books. I’m not much for this type of reading, but it didn’t feel out of place in this book. While SILVER TEARS is the second book in a series, I do think it would work as a stand alone read.

A thank you to Netgalley for sharing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

To say that this book is a 2 star may be a bit of a stretch for me, but I hate to give one stars because my lack of enjoyment regarding a read could very well be influenced by my mood or it just being a case of the wrong book at the wrong time. That said, however, aside from the lovely cover and the name Revenge for a women's make-up enterprise, I didn't failed to enjoy this at all. A disappointment because while it took me a while to get into The Golden Cage, I wound up really digging the sheer insanity of it all. Too far off course, not nearly as engaging.

Another wild, weird, perverse and wonderful gem from the devious mind of Camilla Lackberg. Lackberg has a mind and voice like no other. If you like her, you’ll really like her. (It me!) A feminist sensibility, a love of revenge tales, a stomach for the brutality that forges strong women, and a sense of humor are a must for prospective readers of Camilla Lackberg.

Ready to dive in? Good! First of all, you should read The Golden Cage before reading this, because this is a sequel. I can’t say much about the plot of this book without revealing spoilers about The Golden Cage. So I’ll just say that here, you get to revisit Faye and learn more about how she is enjoying her newfound power and freedom. The book contains all of the explicit sex, gritty power play, and sweet revenge of the first book, so if that one hooked you as it did moi, you’ll enjoy this too.

I just need to take a minute to say I love the straightforward, hilarious, overtly sexy, grab-your-power way Lackberg writes. This, like The Golden Cage, is a butt-kicking, outrageous revenge fantasy in bold color, not for the faint of heart OR for people who are looking for, say, total realism. But it’s an extremely fun, bold, feminine, sexually charged escape tale that also has a fair share of brutality and heartbreak. You learn a lot more about Faye’s upbringing and how tragedies (and her response to them) made her the woman she is today.

All in all, another unique and wonderful offering from Lackberg. The plot is still outrageous, the characters hilarious, and the revenge sweet. Read this, but read The Golden Cage first for sure.

All the thanks to Knopf Publishing and NetGalley for helping me make my way through this author’s bold and unique offerings.

Note: This book is a lot more sexually explicit than what I usually recommend, so make sure you’re prepared for that.

I read "Golden Cage", the first book in this series. I gave that book five stars and was looking forward to reading this book. I was surprised at how explicit this second book was in comparison to the first. This was more than steamy. I definitely did not feel comfortable reading this on the plane with my large font. . It did not have the "Gone Girl" feel the first book had. This book was a disappointment for me.

This book was really difficult to get into. Most of the time I could not keep up with what was going on with the characters or the storyline, perhaps it was me. Someone is attempting to buy out a company that the main character has grown from the ground up. But yet this plot gets lost in everything as the main there sleeps with anything and everything. I get lost in what the point of all of it is. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

So I absolutely loved this book! I was a such a fan of this authors pervious book and this had been on my list since I knew about it. I loved learning about the main characters past and how it impacted her journey. It was also fun seeing the live of rich and famous too. I don't want to spoil it but pick this up!!

“You have to lose yourself to rise again..” - Silver Tears.

She’s had to fight for it every step of the way, but Faye finally has the life she believes she deserves: she is rich, the business she built has become a global brand, and she has carefully hidden away her small family in Italy, where Jack, her ex-husband, can no longer harm them. But when several major investors—women Faye had trusted implicitly—suddenly sell off their shares in the company, and the police officer who helped search for her daughter discovers a dark secret of Faye’s childhood, and she learns that Jack is no longer behind bars, Faye has no choice but to return to Stockholm. Not only does she have to fight again to keep her family safe, but she is also forced to face the truth about her past.

Thank you to NetGalley and Alfred A. Knopf for proving me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Golden Cage series. We continue the story where the first book leaves off and get to see how Faye is living her life now. We also get to see more flashbacks of Faye’s childhood and the abuse she endured. These flashbacks get pretty intense and there are content warnings for physical and sexual abuse. I really enjoyed Faye’s character in this book and her strength to go after what she wants. However, I thought the pacing was a bit off in this book and it didn’t capture me as much as the first book did. I still would recommend the series if you want to read a mystery/thriller that follows a strong female character who gets into some wild predicaments and lives a pretty lavish lifestyle.

Thank you to @netgalley and @aaknopf for the eARC. Full disclosure, I didn’t realize that this is actually a sequel to The Golden Cage. However, Läckberg does such a good job of giving you any information you may need to understand the plot that Silver Tears easily reads as a stand-alone. While the premise was interesting, a businesswoman faces a takeover while keeping the secret that her daughter is alive, not murdered by her husband as the world believes, it overall fell a bit flat. I think I was expecting more of a typical thriller/mystery, but the first half of Silver Tears seemed to solely focus on the business takeover. My favorite chapters were the flashbacks to the main protagonist’s childhood, which felt more like the traditional thriller I was expecting. Overall, with a strong focus on powerful women and the men who try to take them down, this thriller was a quick read and a good set-up for my thriller heavy July TBR!

Okay book. Some parts of the story were a bit slow. A strong female lead character which I loved. She was very take charge in control.

This is probably unpopular opinion, but I loved The Golden Cage and didn't think it needed a sequel. However, when I saw it was getting a sequel I was of course, intrigued.

Silver Tears isn't nearly as thrilling as The Golden Cage, but I liked the sisterhood elements and learning more about Alice and Ylva. Faye's childhood was interesting and sad to read about too.
The thing that bugged me with this novel the most (besides how unrealistic it is) were the sex scenes. Maybe some things just got lost in translation or Swedes are just different, but they read so cold and clinical and weren't at all sexy. But whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️

Faye is basically a 007 villainess: obscenely wealthy, middle-aged, but very attractive and charismatic, smart and yet ditzy as heck. She gets away with whatever she wants (money is power) and doesn't care what you think...well as long as she can bang you that is.

If the next book isn't called the bodacious bronze ___ they are missing an opportunity

Another absolutely stunning book by Camilla Lackberg!
After reading The Golden Cage last year, I've become a huge fan of this author, even going back and reading her older works as well as anxiously awaiting her new novel. She is definitely a go-to author for me.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the DRC!

Faye is a strong and beautiful business woman. Finally free of her abusive husband, she is focusing her energy on her cosmetic company, Revenge. The company is about to go global when share in the company start getting bought up. Someone is trying to steal Revenge from Faye.
Faye won't walk away without a fight. The only way to save the company is to ask for help from two very strong women. These women have betrayed her in the past, but could change the path of Revenge forever.
What Faye doesn't realize is that she won't just be fighting for her business. She's fighting for her family. Her husband is back, and wants everything that Faye took away from him.

Silver Tears is the sequel to The Golden Cage. I have not read The Golden Cage. Though this book continues Faye's story, it can be read as a stand alone. But, now that I know there's a book with back story, I will go back and read it.
This books is kind of like The ExWives Club, but sexy and edgier. There is definitely a sense of women empowerment, and standing by each other. I always love a girl power story.
There are a lot of steamy sex scenes to spice things up. Läckberg isn't afraid to paint a passionate picture. Unfortunately there is rape in the story, but it is essential to understanding Faye.
I found this book extremely fast paced and entertaining. I recommend it if you're looking for a nonmurdery thriller

Faye Adelheim is well known in Stockholm. Those who don’t know of her as the CEO of the company Revenge might know her as the woman whose ex-husband Jack went to jail for killing their daughter. To help recover from that, she spends a lot of time in Ravi, Italy. She has a house there, and no one there knows who she is. Except her mother. And her daughter Julienne, who is still very much alive.

Despite having this secret to keep from the world, Faye continues to be the consummate businesswoman, taking her cosmetics business Revenge and expanding through Europe with plans to get into the market in America. After Jack had taken her ideas to build a company during their marriage and then froze her out of it in their divorce, Faye chose to work with women in starting and building Revenge. Her investors were women, they were friends, they were allies. So it didn’t occur to Faye that there could be a problem with the company.

Until someone started buying up all the stock they can.

Clearly, someone is upset with her for something she had done and wanted Revenge for her or himself. But who would do that? Who would rip her company out from under her, even getting her most loyal investors to sell?

And then she gets more bad news: Jack has escaped from prison.

After two years of finally feeling safe, feeling powerful even, suddenly Faye is worried. Her company is vulnerable. Her financial security is in question. And now her life may be in danger, especially if Jack were to learn that she had faked their daughter’s death to send him to prison.

Can Faye find the strength once again to stand up to the men in her life, or will she find out that her power is not as strong as theirs?

Camilla Lackberg’s Silver Tears is the story of one woman’s fight to keep her own power in a life where she has felt stifled by men. Faye struggles with her own power and limitations, with her relationships and her vulnerabilities, as she does everything she can to keep herself and her family safe. Faye’s story started in the book The Golden Cage, and the ending hints that there will be at least one more volume of her story. While you will have a more rounded idea of who Faye is if you read the books in order, they also work as stand-alone novels.

I was fascinated by Silver Tears and read it in one day. I adored The Golden Cage, my introduction to Lackberg’s work, and I still think the writing in that one is a little stronger. But getting to spend more time with these characters, reading more of Faye’s story, is a journey that I would always want to take. She is a complicated character, and I am completely drawn in by her.

That being said, Silver Tears does have some scenes that some readers may struggle with, so please be warned that there are descriptions of abuse and of complicated intimate relationships.

Egalleys for Silver Tears were provided by Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group through NetGalley, with many thanks.

This is the follow-up to the Golden Cage. It would be best to read the first book to have the full experience of this book.
Revenge is a company and also the overriding reason for the actions of the main characters.
It looks like there is another book coming as there is a cliffy.

A captivating, feminist thriller full of lies, secrets, and heart-pounding mystery.

In Silver Tears, the sequel to Camilla Lackberg's The Golden Cage, Faye has finally escaped her husband and relocated with her mother and child to Rome, Italy. But just when she starts to let her guard drop, Faye learns that her husband is no longer behind bars. She'll have to return to Stockholm to confront her past once and for all.

This was the ideal follow-up to The Golden Cage, picking right up where the first book left off. Faye is a fascinating character, and it was fascinating getting to learn more about her childhood. This book pulled her whole story arc together in a satisfying way. A dark and passionate thriller that will leave Lackberg's fans clamoring for more.

Revenge is on the verge of being taken over, but by who? Faye is not about to lose her company. With help from some interesting choices, Faye is totally out for revenge in more ways than one. Adding another layer to the mix, her husband, Jack has escaped from prison. In prison for killing their young daughter (a daughter that’s very much alive), he too, is out for revenge. Will Faye be able to save Revenge, or will others get their’s first?? While this was an entertaining read, once again Lackberg stepped out of character and the sex scenes were way too graphic and completely unnecessary🤦‍♀️ Leaving us with a bit of a cliffhanger ending, it looks like there will be more from this new series and I can’t help but hope that she takes a giant step back and once again goes back to her roots and incorporates her writing style from the Fjällbacka series!

Thank you Knopf Doubleday and Netgalley for the advanced e-galley.

The first thing you should know about Silver Tears is that it is a follow up to Camila Lackberg’s The Golden Cage that came out last summer. And what a follow up it is! You don’t want to read this one without reading The Golden Cage. Silver Tears picks up right where it left off with more betrayal and more revenge. Faye is back and she’s is still as determined, fierce and protective as she was in the first book. I was definitely not expecting a sequel at the end of The Golden Cage but Silver Tears basically guarantees a third. Faye has more secrets to protect! And I’m dying to see them unfold. This is a dark, gritty about a woman who will stop at nothing to get revenge on those that have wronged her and to protect her and her family from any further harm. There are a lot of content warnings to be aware of before reading that I’d be happy to share with you if needed.

Content warnings: rape, domestic abuse, murder, mention of sexual abuse of a child. I may be missing a few.

3.5 stars

This was a great sequel to The Golden Cage. Faye is such a badass and knows how to get her revenge. What I liked about Faye, besides being a smart business woman, is how she was willing to give other women who had in some way done her wrong in the past, a second chance by employing them and using their skills to help keep her company from being taken over. A good cast of characters and a story that has made me a fan of this series. The cliffhanger at the end was completely unexpected and now leaves me hoping the next book will come soon.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.

From my blog: Always With a Book:

Last year, I fell in love with The Golden Cage, the first book about Faye and Silver Tears has been an anticipated read ever since it was announced it would be published this year. I have been a fan of Camilla Lackberg’s writing so quite some time, having loved the books in her Fjallbacka series that I’ve read, but these 2 books are a completely different ball game…and I love them!!!

This second book picks up after everything that happened in the first book with her husband Jack, so it really makes sense to read The Golden Cage first. Now, when she believes she should be able to relax and focus on expanding her company, someone is trying to take over…and she needs to get to the bottom of it before they ruin all she has worked to put together.

I loved everything about this book. It is uber sexy, smart and fun. I love Faye. She is determined, feisty and not willing to let anyone get the best of her. She has put together a rather interesting group of gals and I loved each and every one of them…though I was quite taken aback to see who she had selected. And if you’ve read book 1, you will understand why these choices might be surprising.

There are flashbacks throughout the book to Faye’s childhood and these really give us such an insightful look into how and why Faye is the way she is. These segments aren’t always the easiest to read, but they are short and quick but oh so powerful and add so much to the overall picture. The other parts of the book kept me wondering where things were heading for the most part. I did have my guesses on a few things that turned out to be right, but that in no way detracted from my overall enjoyment of this book because I didn’t figure it all out.

This is a fast, incredibly entertaining read with quite the steam factor at times! And it once again reinforces my love of Camilla Lackberg’s writing. I still have a few books to read in her Fjallbacka series and I plan to do so soon while I wait to see what she writes next. Clearly this author is on my must-read list!!!
