How do I begin to review a perfect book and perfect series by Helen Hoang? I truly think that Hoang is among my favorite authors of all-time: every book she has crafted has solidified my love for her writing more and more. And that is certainly the case with The Heart Principle, a story that you can tell came from the depths of Hoang's soul. It is a romance that isn't necessarily "easy," but one that I will remember because of emotional resonance and discussions of mental health.

Quan is a great hero and Anna was just amazing--I wanted to hug them both! The two of them together were something else, they have the "it" factor that romance authors strive for. I very highly recommend this book.

Helen Hoang forever!!!! Amen.

It's been quite a while since I've written a book review so please bear with me as I jump back into this bitch. It's also been a little bit since I read this book but I came across my notes that I wrote for this book so I'm reviewing it. I'm not going to get into what this book was about, the summary does a great job of explaining what we're getting into so I'm jumping right into my thoughts.

This is the third book in the Kiss Quotient series by Helen Hoang. It's the book that I was really looking forward to because it's Quan's book! Lovely Quan, Michael's cousin from The Kiss Quotient. He was such a memorable character for me. I'm a bit sad that this was Quan's story because we got more Anna than Quan. I felt that Quan was part of Anna's story and that was a bummer for me. Quan was such a delightful and interesting character so I felt he was cheated and even after all of this time, I'm still not over that.

That's not to say that I hated Anna or that I hated the book. I just wish that Quan had gotten another story where he shined and was front and center instead of being featured in someone else's story. There is a lot of heavy stuff tackled in this book and I understood and even connected with Anna through all of it. There were times when I really felt for Anna and wanted to fight every single member of her family because holy shit are they toxic as hell but there were also times when I wanted to smack some sense into Anna as well.

The little Quan that we got in this book was fantastic. My heart hurt for him and what he was going through and seeing him work through each of his struggles made my love for him stronger. I loved the way that he loved Anna. I loved the way that he was up for anything and willing to do whatever he can to support Anna with everything she was going through. Even when he didn't know how to support her or even if he had to do things that hurt him in order to support her, he was ready and willing.

The romance between Quan and Anna was small but what we got worked. I just wanted more. As a romance, which is what I assumed I was getting, this was okay but this would have worked better for me had it been a women's fiction story but I'm still salty about not getting as much Quan as I wanted.

3 out of 5

I will say, this one captured me more than The Bride Test, but it still didn't beat The Kiss Quotient. I almost feel like I related too much to the story - the inability to say no and the general unhappiness. At times, I felt like yelling at my book, but that's the sign of good writing. The plot itself was interesting, though a little more far-fetched than other romances. I would still recommend this book to people, though!

Devastatingly beautiful and emotionally deep, a beautiful addition to one of my favorite series that reads well enough to also stand on its own merits and allll the feeeeeels

This book hit all the emotional sweet spots. The slow burn, the second chance at love (in a sense thanks to this open relationship situation), and a way to really see who you truly are and be okay with that and be okay that you may have to wait of the one to fully accept you to. But when you do, man is it worth it.

I loved this book! I’m a huge fan of Helen Hoang’s books. I love that they aren’t cringey like other romance books.

I love the relationship between Anna and Quan! I loved how real it was and that they faced real challenges. I loved how Anna developed over the book and became her own person.

My co-worker recommended I read The Heart Principle. After reading the book I thought it was a good read. I'm giving the book 3-3.5 stars.

OMG I am so happy that I finally got around to read this book, I loved it so much as I loved all the other books in this series. Quan was just the perfect hero, he was so kind and understanding that I wanted him to be mine. I love how real Anna was, I could understand her feelings and struggles even without being on the spectrum myself. I could read Helen's struggles and life thru the words of her characters. I also love a good DUAL POV book.

Hazy, hot, and humid with a chance of 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶! Readers of Helen Hoang’s previous romance novels will remember Quan, who takes center stage in The Heart Principle! This one incorporates some serious issues, especially mental and physical health, which only made me love Anna, Quan, and their story that much more. Highly recommended heat wave avoidance reading right here!

Breathtakingly beautiful. Anna and Quan have my whole heart. Helen Hoang has such a magical way with words and this book surely showed us that. So many parts were hard to read. The way Anna is treated my her sister, and her family made me want to claw her out of the book and keep her safe. The way Quan is gentle with her and makes sure to be that safe space for her was so beautiful to read. Quan also needed someone to ground him and help him through the hard moments post cancer and Anna was that for him. The representation of autism and the spectrum was done so well. The mental health aspect was hard to read but so well done. I loved this book so much.

Also, fuck Julian.

I feel mixed about this book. It feels so completely unrealistic but I also read it quickly and enjoyed it. Would I recommend it...probably not but I wouldn't not recommend it either. It just felt like a big OK book to me. It was more racy that I expected and the family dynamics were so upsetting to me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

The Heart Principle was an emotionally engaging book with a romance of patient and devoted love. At times Anna's challenges were heart breaking and the story was a challenging and less light hearted read. I really enjoyed the characters and felt this was a find finish to the Kiss Quotient series. Highly recommend.

I love this trilogy - I enjoy how all 3 of the books were interconnected! The books all had a great amount of spice, romance, and heartfelt moments. I would highly recommend to fellow romance readers.

Sadly, I just wasn't impressed with this one. I found it hard to connect with the characters and found myself not paying attention to the story because I didn't really care what happened to them.

This book was beautiful, painful, hopeful and incredibly well crafted. Huong has such a unique storytelling voice, tackling messy life situations with care and grace. And does this while creating respectful and smoking hot love stories! I loved this book so much.

"A woman struggling with burnout learns to embrace the unexpected—and the man she enlists to help her." If you have not yet ventured into the world created by Helen Hoang--don't wait any longer!! The third book in The Kiss Quotient series is just as wonderful as the first two.

this was my least favorite book out of the series. tbh im really disappointed ....

let's start with the positives:
- this book is very well written and thoughtful and shines light on things that i had never heard of, such as autistic burnout and caregiver burnout
- i liked the chapter breaks to switch POVs and first person (the other books were the opposite)
- i appreciated the portrayal of depression, was very realistic and impactful

my qualms:
- this did not feel like a romance book to me
- i felt like quan was a side character in his own story
- NO ESME AND KHAI CONTENT. fuming.
- anna's family was so despicable they made me crunch on my teeth
- pacing was super weird and didn't make sense, and i feel like the ending did not leave me satisfied at all

overall, this book is very impactful and touches on things that i was not familiar with. however, it lacked the chemistry and tension that the other books had. i also was most excited for quans book because he was my favorite character, yet i feel like i did not get to know him better at all. i know he had the big life changing event prior to the beginning of the book that impacted him and his personality, but i felt like we didnt really get to see the depth of it. for lack of better words, it felt fake deep?? that might sound insensitive and that is not how i intend it, but i cant think of any other way to say it. i liked anna, but i did not understand how quan fell so in love so quick because i feel like for most of the book they were not even together. and i dont mean in a relationship, i mean at all. we didnt see many phone calls or texts between them in the "during" section, which is supposedly when they fell in love? were we jsut supposed to fill in the blanks?

i am definitely going to reread this series, but i think i had too high of hopes for this book because the first two were amazing. dont get me wrong, i still bought and read this in one day, but it is leaving a bad and unsatisfied taste in my mouth.

a complex, heart-warming story of family dynamics, life on the autism spectrum and powerful moments. The 3rd in the series, this book is a must read! I devoured it and really loved the author’s note at the end - so powerful!
