I was really excited to read this one, but it was a lot heavier than I thought it would be going in. I appreciate that the author shed some light on real mental health issues. However, that made the plot devolve into melodrama more than I was expecting. Also, the male protagonist seemed almost too perfect and saint-like, while the female protagonist's older sister seemed almost too heartless and unfeeling. The author does have a following though, and this should appeal to some, just not me.

Ohmygod. I just cried through the back half of this book. This is way more than a romance. It's also about grief and family and what we owe each other. I've read all of Helen Hoang's books and this one was my favorite so far. I have nothing negative to say about it at all. I read it in a day, and I am a single mom with a 2 year old.

If all romance authors were this authentic, hard-hitting, and hilarious, the whole genre would be changed for the better. Absolutely loved every minute of it. If you love romance, don't miss this one.

Huge thank you to Netgalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the eARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This amazing book gets published later this Summer on August 31st, and I assure you that you will not want to miss out on this third addition to this already amazing series. I have read the other two books in the series, The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test, and this is my favorite one by a long shot!
I swear with each book in this series I love one more and more than the others and I am not going to lie this may be my top read for 2021 because it was just that good!

Again, Helen Hoang does an amazing job at expressing what many go through in terms of dealing with Autism, the stigma that many families have against disabilities or therapy, the struggles of dealing with the after-effects of having cancer, the struggles of Self-Love, and many more heavy-hitting topics.

The Heart Principle is everything that you could want in a romance novel. It is hot, it is sad, it is sweet, heavy, and it hits deep. As always, one can tell that the author is writing from the heart and from experience, and in the author’s note she explains her personal reasons for doing so and that makes you appreciate the book even more. When reading this book, your emotions get so pulled in because Quan and Anna’s feelings and experiences are so real, and their love is so pure. I promise you that Quan will instantly turn into your Summer Crush by the end of the book and that you’ll be begging for more of their romance because with each page and chapter you just can’t get enough of their love!

As a big fan of Helen Hoang, I was excited to read another book by her. As promised, this book has a lot of depth, and while the others did as well, this goes deeper. It makes you think about interactions you have with people, relationships, love, intimacy, and what it means on a personal level as well as societally. This book is a lot more than a romance, although it has excellent romance and chemistry between Anna and Quan. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to read this book, and I will recommend it far and wide.

review- heart principle

Always aiming to please, to seek approval from the worst critics, her family, and recently in an open relationship, Anna connects with Quan through a dating app. Recovering from an illness that impacts his manhood, Quan looks to get back into the dating scene. Both aren’t in for anything serious, a mutual one-night stand… with failed attempts that lead to a deeper understanding, a budding romance, a trusting relationship. Could they overcome their fears together?

Hoang had me completely floored. Anna’s struggles were so transparent, so real, so raw. Asian parents have the reputation of being major sticklers, strictly traditional, super judgmental of their own offspring, and the way it was depicted in this story made me feel heartbroken, frustrated, yet hopeful for Anna. The 1st POV was an added bonus, and after reading Hoang’s author’s note, it all made sense that it was written this way. I felt connected the entire time. And, while this was supposed to be Quan’s book, I felt it was more about Anna and her growth after accepting that she was different.

Gut-wrenching and heartwarming, heavier than the previous books, THE HEART PRINCIPLE will have you clutching your chest, swooning for Quan, and standing for and with Anna the entire time.

This one is going to be so highly anticipated, fans have been waiting for Quan to get his moment for so long! I really enjoyed this one. I thought Anna was really unique heroine, and even though I felt like this was definitely the heaviest emotionally out of this series, I thought it was so well done and explored some really hard and deep things. The HEA felt so earned and Anna and Quan had such chemistry. At the end Helen Hoang writes that this one was one of the hardest to write because it felt so personal and Anna's journey with her diagnosis and family heartbreak was similar to Hoang's. I felt like that really shown through the writing and. I felt like Hoang took us exactly where she wanted us to go with this book.

The third book in the ‘Kiss Quotient’ series is the most emotionally raw of the series. Author Helen Hoang manages to perfectly craft both realistic characters and a romance that lushly illustrates the depth of human connection. Hoang’s talent lies in her innate ability to showcase both heartbreak and lust and make them equally compelling. The reader is able to understand the complex depth of each character’s relationship to one another as well as to themselves. Every action is intentional and it culminates in a masterful story that will reach audiences with its charming honesty and elemental sincerity.

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang was the best book of the Kiss Quotient series. It had perfect pacing, relatable characters and nice touches of humor at just the right times. I can't rave enough about this book and the series as a whole.

I have been anxiously awaiting Helen Hoang's THE HEART PRINCIPLE and it did not disappoint! Violinist Anna is burned out after becoming a viral sensation. She's stuck in a loop with her latest musical masterpiece, and on top of that, her boyfriend has just declared that he'd like an open relationship before they settle down. So, she does what any reasonable woman would do: she signs up for a dating app with plans to revenge-sex her way through this. All that changes with her first encounter, though. Quan Diep is sexy, tattooed and ready to get back in the saddle after his recovery from a life threatening illness. Anna is used to "masking" her true self to make sure those around her are comfortable and happy; Quan quickly becomes invested in making sure that Anna is truly happy and satisfied, in all the ways! I appreciated the own voices representation of Autism Spectrum Disorder and the portrayal of true intimacy is all it's messy glory. Readers, don't miss the author's note at the end! Helen, this one was more than worth the wait, thank you!

Once again Helen Hoang give us a masterpiece that won't disappoint those of us that have been patiently waiting for this book.

We have all been in love with Quan for such a long time that the bar was extremely high. Hoang gives us a Quan to root for that is dreamy prince worth the wait. Quan has recently survived a bout of cancer that has left him feeling like less than himself when we goes on a dating app and meets Anna Sun.

Anna is now in an open relationship that her boyfriend has decided he needs before he can commit fully to Anna. So she goes on a revenge quest to find a guy and meets Quan, the most perfect person in the whole world for her. I mean come on! They watch documentaries together and text about Octopus.

Hoang gives us an emotional rollercoaster of a book that would rival any Colleen Hoover novel. The perfect book for your next book club. The perfect book for your next cry. The perfect book for you to swoon.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book. I think this one is my favorite out of the three she has written. You could tell how personal a story this is to Hoang, which she also states in her Author's note. The deft skill which she used in creating Anna's character and her coming to her diagnosis of being on the Autism spectrum and how it can mean so many different things, as well as her own family's battle and acceptance of it was handled masterfully. I have hope that her sister comes to terms with Anna's diagnosis and they fix their relationship.
Quan is boyfriend goals. He accepts Anna for everything that she is before learning the truth, as she does with him. The tenderness and care that he shows to her, her family and his willingness to bring her family around to him, all just makes him the more lovable.
The part of the storyline that was hardest for me to read was surrounding the caregiving. Not because it was handled wrong but how true to life it was.

I will go out and buy this book when it is releases and will strong recommend it.

I loved the other books in this series, but somehow this one is even better. You can tell the passion and heart the author brought to this story and in reading the author's note and acknowledgments you learn it's also quite personal. The romance and love story in this book is the kind that I think we all wish we had and certainly all deserve. This book was sad, but so hopeful at the same time and I appreciated the intricate family dynamics and relationships. Highly recommended!

Anna Sun is a violinist who is struggling to complete a piece that was created for her. Anna is completely blindsided when her longtime boyfriend announces that he wants to see other people before they take the next step and get engaged. She decides to join a dating app to have a one-night stand. Quan Diep has recently recovered from cancer and is struggling to be intimate with a woman again. Anna feels comfortable and can finally be herself around Quan, but her family does not approve of him. When Anna's father becomes ill, Anna and her family become full-time caregivers. Throughout the book, Anna has to learn to advocate for her needs as a newly diagnosed woman with Autism Spectrum Disorder and stand up to her sister and mother. The events in this book were taken from Helen Hoang's real life, and the book presents a nuanced and gritty perspective on caregiving and caregiving burnout. I loved this book, but I felt like it was very dark and I wish it had more romance in it. I also felt like the epilogue did not fully give me closure, so I wish that it was just a little more fleshed out. Readers of The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test will recognize Quan, but this book can also be read as a standalone.

Content: grief, death, abusive/manipulative family, suicide ideation

What can I say about Helen Hoang that hasn’t already been said? A true genius and worthy of every bit of praise. While The Heart Principle was 2 years in the making, it was worth every moment. This book is a masterpiece that I could not stop. I love Anna and Quan like I know them personally. When I finished this book, I hugged it. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. Readers will be able to empathize with the main characters, especially Anna, even if they will not necessarily completely understand what she is going through. Anna is a strong woman who is diagnosed with Autism later in life. Everything she knew had changed, but at the same time, everything began to make sense. Anna is also dealing with her inability to play her violin, which is her profession, as well as her father's illness and a romance. This touching novel is a wonderful addition two the author's two previous works.

I received a Net Galley version of this book.

What a great read! I always love a hero that struggles with realistic issues. A fascinating look in the mind of someone who may not think like you do, but still with all the usual charm of a contemporary romance. Quan, who was NOT my favorite character in previous books, is the perfect supporting character for Anna, and maybe a little too good to be true, but still believable within the genre.

So different from her previous books, but still so enjoyable! I really liked this and hope to see more like it!
