This mystery was engaging and fun to read. The story was told by the protagonist, a woman who owned a cookbook themed bookstore. The plot was interesting, and the story contained suspense and intrigue. I highly recommend this book to other cozy mystery readers.

Daryl Wood Gerber has produced another great addition to her A Cookbook Nook Mystery series. ‘Wining and Dying’ has the usual delightful cast of characters and some new rather unpleasant ones. Once again Jenna is involved in solving a murder with mixed reactions from her fiancé, father and Cinnamon, the Chief of Police. I’m looking forward to much more, including Rhett and Jenna's wedding.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

In the 10th book of the Cookbook Nook series, Jenna Hart is again pulled into a murder mystery, much to the conflicted feelings of her friend, the Police Chief Cinnamon Pritchett. During the 5th annual Crystal Cove Art and Wine Festival, one of the more unpopular but talented artists is found dead in his cabana in the Crystal Cove Inn. There are enough suspects who had reasons to kill the artist, but while Cinnamon is investigating, Jenna’s friends keep confiding related information to her until she narrows down the suspect list to one person. The author had me guessing the whole time, as she unfolded the story of each character.

While this is the 10th book in the series, the author includes enough of the characters back stories so that it can be read as a standalone. I prefer to read the books in order to get the full feel of the various wonderful characters, but it’s not necessary for the appreciation of the story. I do appreciate the character list at the beginning of the book to refresh my memory. Jenna has a wonderful circle of caring friends and she’s someone I’d love to get a chance to sit and chat with. I’m not much of a cook, but the cookbooks featured in the book sound interesting. And the recipes at the end of the book for an appetizer, main course, muffins, cookies mentioned sound really tasty and fairly easy to prepare.

Jenna and friends are gearing up for the Wine and Art festival that’s about to start in Crystal Cove. Jenna has submitted a painted poster in the art contest. One of the other contestants is murdered. Quade was kind of an annoying guy, but he didn’t deserve to die.
With Keller, Katie’s husband, a prime suspect, Jenna goes on the offensive to find out what really happened.
There are secrets upon secrets in this book. A host of newly mentioned characters come into play for the book along with the the cast from the series - Jenna, Vera, Bailey, Rhett, Tigger, Cinnamon, Bucky, Gran, Bailey’s Mom and Jenna’s Dad.
You have to wonder if the locals of Crystal Cove would ever get tired of all the festivals. Wine and Art is quickly followed by Cinco de Mayo. I think Jenna is a little overconfident in her skills in facing a murderer.
I suspected the murderer but had no idea about the back story. There are psychological elements involved. Even this much may be a spoiler.
Come visit Crystal Cove and get to know Jenna and friends you will be glad you did.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

Crystal Cove is buzzing with the launch of the 5th annual Art and Wine Festival where local wineries are paired with local artists to show off their latest creations.Jenna is thrilled to show one of her amateur paintings at the fair but her excitement quickly fades when an up-and-coming artist is murdered. The evidence points to a good friend of Jennas as the culprit and she’ll have to use all her wits to prove his innocence before he paints himself into a corner. Keller and Quade have been squabbling lately that they were sort of rivals both using the same media in their work could be enough to incriminate him. Jenna tries to blend in as she starts digging to the array of suspects a tech guru, with a penchant for stalking women, the mayor’s wayward son, or Keller an older art instructor. Jenna wines and dines through the clues before she can see the full picture to put the real killer behind bars and avoiding her own brush with death. A fun adventure through the wine and art festival with fun characters and exciting happenings.

Crystal Cove is holding its 5th Annual Art and Wine Festival, where local artists submit entries for next year's poster and local wineries show off their newest vintages. Jenna Hart, owner of the cookbook nook coffee shop has entered a painting in the competition and is one of the finalists. Her friend's husband, Keller, is also. When the top competitor is found stabbed with with one of Keller's tools, Jenna jumps right in to try to find who is framing her friend.

The mystery with the art and wine references was good but this time a little on the mystery. It was pretty easy to figure out the murderer.

Looking forward to next time.

Another cosy detective set in the dreaded Crystal Cove which seems just beyond twee. During the local Art and Wine Festival one of the artists, unpleasant character of course, is murdered and the amateur detective, Jenna, fellow artist, cookbook shop owner, sets out to find his murderer. The local police are remarkably tolerant of her meddling, as usual, but at least the boyfriend is rather more background than in some such stories. Plenty of red herrings, plenty of suspects, nearly all of whom have odd names - is this an American thing? - all set amongst a lot of wining and eating. Still, it's a fun, light read although hardly challenging. Thanks to NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Jenna Hart is one of 7 finalists in this years Art and Wine festival. The winner will get their art on next years festival posters. Quade and Keller Landry seem to be the favorites for winning but then Quade turns up dead and Keller is prime suspect. Jenna knows or at least hopes,Keller isn't the killer. So she starts digging . What she discovers isn't what she'd wanted. She realizes she knows very little about her fellow Crystal Cove neighbors. Did one of them have a secret they needed to keep hidden? Can Jenna figure out who did it without putting herself in the killers line of fire?

Author Daryl Wood Gerber deftly juggles red herrings while weaving together complex plot threads into a rich story of romance, revenge, and murder, while treating us to scrumptious food, tasty wine and breathtaking art as we immerse in Crystal Cove's fifth annual Art and Wine Festival.

Jenna Hart, owner of the Cookbook Nook and a hopeful artist herself, has her hands full keeping up with the tourist invasion while finding time to enjoy the festival with her friends. And if that's not enough, she's venue-shopping for her upcoming wedding. But when one of the featured artists is murdered, Jenna takes on even more as she becomes determined to identify the killer.

Crystal Cove is a fun tourist town, bursting with eccentric characters of all sorts. I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them (even the ones I loved to hate!) You'll explore the local restaurants, shops and homes in enough detail to make you feel like you're on vacation, living the adventure alongside Jenna and her friends.

At the end of the story you'll find a bonus mini-cookbook with recipes for cookies, muffins and appetizers that are featured throughout the book. I especially liked how the author lets her characters write their own introductions for the recipes. I'm going to be baking some chocolate mint muffins very soon!

My thanks to author Daryl Wood Gerber, NetGalley, and Beyond the Page Publishing for allowing me to read a digital advance review copy of this book. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.

WINING AND DYING, the tenth book in the Cookbook Nook Mystery series by Daryl Wood Gerber, is another delicious addition to a charming series. With food, wine, and art galore showcased on the pages, the reader can’t help but become immersed as they catch up on Jenna Hart’s latest adventure. Trying to plan her wedding to Rhett, run her Cookbook Nook shop, and participate as a competing artist in Crystal Cove’s fifth annual Art and Wine Festival, Jenna never has a dull moment. With all the activities doing on, the reader is given a true sense of the type of person Jenna is – caring, kind, a good listener, and a great friend – to all that she meets. I adore her relationship with her close friends and her family, which includes her co-shop-owning Aunt Vera and her ex-FBI father. One of the strengths of this series are the characters and it’s been a delight watching them grow and change over the years… and all for the better. Another thing I’ve truly enjoyed that as owner of the Cookbook Nook, Jenna stocks a large variety of cookbooks of which she mentions several to fit the theme of the ongoing festival. I’ll have to admit I adore cookbooks and often research and sometimes purchase those cookbooks mentioned on the pages.

When a contentious fellow art contestant is found murdered and it’s clear that the suspect (one of Jenna’s bff’s husband and fellow contestant) has been framed, Jenna vows to help her friends and prove his innocence. But as she delves into the hidden life of the victim, nothing is quite as it seems. In fact, other friends of Jenna just might have reasons to have wanted the man dead which added to the suspense and had me turning pages until the very end. The clues were well placed and there were several twists that had me gasping out loud. With an unexpected reveal, the threads of the story came together in a highly satisfactory conclusion and has me eagerly waiting for the next book!

You can always count on Ms. Gerber providing mouthwatering details about the delectable dishes served around town and at the Cookbook Nook Café. To satisfy the home cook, she provides several recipes at the back of the book and they all sound fantastic!

Crystal Cove is all ready to open the fifth annual Art and Wine Festival. This is a special time for Jenna. She's excited to be one of the finalists in the festival's poster competition. However, her anticipation quickly changes when one of the other artists is murdered. The victim, Quade, is very talented and a very abrasive person. When one of Jenna's close friends is accused of his murder, she decides to ask some questions. Jenna finds that quite a few people had issues with the victim. The Sheriff tells her to back off and let the Police do their job. Unfortunately Jenna can't resist the urge to help. I was pulled in to this riveting mystery. Jenna is a caring friend. She goes above and beyond to help. She values her life in Crystal Cove. Her store, the Cookbook Nook, is a gathering spot for locals and tourists. I felt the closeness of the characters. I like the way they support each other. I loved Jenna's romance with Rhett. Also, I enjoy how Daryl Wood Gerber includes pets in the story. Tigger and Rook made me smile. I enjoy this series. The characters are easy to care about. I found the plot was filled with unexpected twists. I wasn't sure who committed the murder. I found Wining and Dying was a special treat.
I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.

It is always great fun visiting with Jenna, Bailey, Katie, Aunt Vera, Rhett, Tigger, Cinnamon and so many others in Crystal Cove! Wining and Dying is the tenth in the Cookbook Nook series and is as good as all the others. Crystal Cove relies on tourism to keep the town going and is always hosting festivals - on the calendar this time is a wine and arts festival. The festival has lots of activity and very unique venues. Jenna and Katie's husband Keller have entered paintings into a contest and are among the finalists. along with several others in the town including Quade, an up-and-coming artist whom no one knows much about. Unfortunately, Quade is not liked by many and ends up murdered. Jenna and Bailey jump right in trying to help uncover the murderer before one of their friends is wrongly accused. The story has many twists and turns, people with hidden stories, and it keeps you guessing to the end. The author has placed subtle clues to the real murderer in the story and the savvy reader gets an inkling of who the murderer might be by the end of the story.

The book involves you in the lives of all of the characters besides Jenna and Rhett - Katie and Keller, Cinnamon and Bucky, Bailey and Tito - in such a way that you that you feel like you are in Crystal Cove with them. The town itself and surrounding wineries are well described along with the festival activities. The story, characters and setting draw you into the story from the start.

This is such an enjoyable series - I hope there are many more in its future! I highly recommend reading this book and the first nine!

It will not be task as suspects start to rise but who is the real killer? Can she figure things before the killer eyes her as the next victim?

Another smart read in the cookbook nook series as Jenna will triumph once again.

This is a good series, and I have read every one in the series. The author continue to develop the characters and relationships among them.

I loved this cozy mystery series. It's full of fun plotlines, and characters that I want to read more about. Jenna is one of my favorite sleuths. She keeps on finding mysteries and dealing with friends who turn into suspects. She also works with the police, and even though she figures out the truth before they do, they are respected. The romantic subplot is a juicy addition to this story. I hope the next mystery includes at least a part of the wedding of Jenna and Rhett. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
