As a first time Mom who recognizes that there are so much that I need to learn, and unlearn (from all the parenting styles that I experienced, observed, and had been recommended with), and that more than just raising my child to be a good person, I need to raise her to become someone who reveres and loves God above all else, I found this book to be one of the best. Sure I have other parenting books I read, and a few (that I can afford) I own, but I had always been looking for that parenting book that does not only offer the grace-filled spiritual, and psychological underpinnings of Christian parenting, but also provides practical tools, advise, and resources that I can easily use in my parenting journey. As I read the very first sentence, until the last, I know in my heart and mind that I found one of the parenting gems I'd been looking for.

This book is very relatable, and is a good mix of the heartwarming, the funny, the hard hitting, the encouraging, the challenging, and the love-, grace-, faith-, and hope-filled. I'd like to think of one of the effects of reading this book as an episode that triggered an avalanche. Reading this book opened one door after another, providing more resources that can help greatly improve and spice up my parenting journey. I know I am not the same mom that I was after I read this.

Kudos Janel Breitenstien! I praise God for what He allowed through you!

This is one of those spiritual guide books that you can dive into a specific topic.
Breitenstein guides you through topics to help your children on their spiritual journey, how to talk to them, to parent and lead them through life.
Permanent Markers helps parents and educators rethink their parenting or teaching styles and how we shape children's minds and present them with information, how we interact with them and help create lasting ideals.
This is a book that should be on people's bookshelves, not necessarily to be read through repeatedly, but to delve into as needed and to help in different situations.
